The removal makes the engine bay look cleaner! I love the idea of powder coating the tubes blue. Ford’s corporate color is blue, first & it will match your fuel component, second. I’m 55 years old and still love the sound of the turbo whistle, Lol!
What he meant by rerouting the vent line was run a tube to the coldside tap in right before the Inlet Runners to the manifold and yes there is a reason for it being there in the first place it's to relieve crankcase pressure when the engine revs it sucks it at the same time when you do away with that you start running into crank seal problems all kinds of other problems not a good idea remember diesel engines love oil there is nothing wrong with oil in your intake plus it lubricates your turbo a little so if you don't want oil in your intercooler just route a line to the other side right before Inlet Runners to the manifold tap in there
I do plan on doing that. Compressor housing the same as the IC pipes and maybe a black for the spyder. Or possibly all the same color with black boots. Lots of options and ideas haha
There's a reason why that 1 is covered in the aluminium and installation because you're hot air goes into the passenger side of your intercooler and a cold air comes out the driver side for that you get denser air for taking that off what he get to your pipe which will in turn warm up whatever we have coming in to the engines
My truck is white so Im doing a white engine bay look. Kinda to match the outside of the truck. So I went to Pusher Intakes and got their intake manifold power coated white from them. You should definitely look into maybe doing that to the truck and get it in blue or whatever color you are wanting lol. I think painting the parts would look really good on the truck.
Living On Wheels it says on their website is that it has to be power coated before use but idk if you really have too or not. I am very satisfied with their product tho. Better airflow and the turbo doesn't sound like its gasping for air anymore lol
The insulation prevents condensation from forming inside pipe. I believe it stops the accumulation of water at the bottom of the intercooler. If there is enough water in the system, then it could get sucked into the engine all at once and cause catastrophic engine hydrolock. Or, I am 100 percent wrong.
I guess that could be possible but sounds very unlikely. I haven't ever heard of anyone saying anyone saying anything about condensation inside the intercooler piping. 1) It would take a lot of condensation build up and getting sucked in all at one time to hydrolock the engine. 2) If this were an issue I feel as if there would be stories of this happening with how may many people have removed this insulation. 3) Just about very aftermarket vendor that makes IC piping has them unwrapped or uninsulated.
I agree. I don't know how on earth water could build up in the IC. With all the heat after running to operating temp it all would evaporate! I will say that after I switched my IC out Oil still drips out of it years later. This the need for the CCV mod!
@@beginningtheend9259 The crankcase vent going into the intake will not cause a runaway. That's what uneducated people say or think, it's there for emissions and it also lubricates the turbo more. I've heard people having turbo problems when they atmospheric vent the crankcase because it has a reason to feed into the intake.
Powder coated blue. I’ve powder coated some stuff for a guy at work and we used PMS Blue from TCI I believe, that was the closest to the other Blue that you have already. On Monday I can double check the distributor of the powder color and comment again.
I'm a fan of just the raw metal. I would go for a good powder coat if you do. I'm personally a fan of colors that pop. As for removing the insulation wrap. I really think you want that on the pipe for the cold side. Want cold air in...
I agree that it would seem to make more sense o have the cold side pipe insulated as opposed to the hot side. I also like the look of a nice contrasting color under the hood.
As some have suggested you could do the oval blue. It would be neat to do a OEM ford color such as gotta have it green, grabber orange or grabber blue.
Nice truck and nice videos!. I've been following you for awhile.. I really liked the video explaining the different injector types. I notice in the vids that you you have some custom hand controls or at least I think you do...what's the story on those?
Had my neck broken when I was 17. Was originally paralyzed from the shoulders down. Been lucky enough to get enough recover to briefly stand and do minor things (get in and out of my truck) but I use hand controls for the pedals. I should do an update video on those sometime soon.
@@LivingOnWheels Oh nice! Glad to see you recovering! Keep on making videos. I like to see how your truck progresses. I have an 01' 350. I got a heads up about the AIH delete from looking at the description in your videos so thanks!

Great vid sir, just did CCV mod, video coming in couple days after edit everything, also just subbed :))
Much appreciated.! I will be interested in seeing your CCV setup.
I would put that back to stock. The suction from the turbo pulls the pressure out of the crank case.
Did this along with ebpv delete,360 bearing kit and wicked wheel now she screams!!!! Sounds like a 6.0!
I like the blue , but if it were my thing I would wait and do the powder coat and skip the paint .

Key word in Intercooler tubes is "cooler". Any metal dissipates heat better without coating. If you must, anodize.
That is not just for the noise it's also to keep the heat out
yes, I am sure there is some bit of heat insulation to it.
I put exhaust rap on mine looks good and helps keep it cool
That idea crossed my mind as well.
I would powder coat the spider and turbo compressor
I do plan on doing that. Compressor housing the same as the IC pipes and maybe a black for the spyder. Or possibly all the same color with black boots. Lots of options and ideas haha

I actually plan on using Pusher when I replace my spyder. I'll probably get their plain metal and then match it to whatever color I choose to go with.

@@jacobbass9923 Thats the plan. I cant imagine it really matters, that much. Maybe in terms of surface rust chances.
Living On Wheels im unsure either but looking forward to the next video to see whats next!

No it doesn’t. Ford put the insulation there for sound deadening-nothing else. It was a TSB after the E99 had complaints
Actually international vented the crankcase to the atmosphere
hmmm. So it was in fact ford that chose to vent into the intake?
@@LivingOnWheels yeah and I believe same thing on the 6.0s
With the crankcase in the intake it can cause a runaway if there is an injector or oring failure allowing diesel in the crankcase
Well you learn something new every day. Thanks for spreading the knowledge.

Looks much better the blue would be good I think
That is what I ended up going with! I got them all painted up in a more recent video.

You're not up in the Oregon area are you haha? I looked up TCI and it definitely looks like they have a very good selection. I appreciate the input!
I’m in Michigan unfortunately. Yes they have a large selection. No problem I’m for helping when I can.
@@johnyhawgleg Well it is much appreciated!
The PMS Blue is a PPG color btw.
I think the dark blue will look really good! Im planning on orange for mine to match my truck color

I’m curious. I thought you were paralyzed? How can you stand up, and even climb on top of engine compartment?
Incomplete injury

I have to ask man. How are you getting up into the engine bay?
I can stand up and move around a bit. I just can’t be up for long. So I use a step stool to get up into the engine bay.
Blue and red for cold and hot.
Theres an idea I haven't heard yet!
Dark metallic Ford blue

Lllll llook
Powder coat them... I would do candy Red,Blue, or custom color to match the truck
Is that a 4 speed?
Brushed look is better and longer great
Crome or metal looks much better then blue. Sinister parts look like an RC truck parts not my taste but to each there own
1) Good video 2) wait until you are capable to powercoat 3) I would go for a color similar to the truck or one that complements it
I appreciate the input. I think the dark almost metallic blue would go well the burgundy color of the truck.
I think paint them the blue like you said until you powder coat.
I am really tempted to do that!
I have considered doing it. It doesn't really bother my right now, but I might work out a way later on to do a clean CCV routing.
