    I like the G26 a lot. It took a little bit of time to get used to the short grip, but I made the adjustment. I can't explain why, but I actually shoot better with the G26 than I do with the 17 or 19, go figure. I buy G17 replacement magazines and carry those for my spares for my G26. I have owned and fired almost every Glock over the last 30 years. I've used the Glock 26 in competition. It is for me the most accurate and concealable of all the Glocks. I have customized 17s that I can shoot slightly better, but they are too big for comfortable concealed carry. My G26 is 15 years old and has performed flawlessly with over 15k rounds fired. I've tried every grip extension and the Pierce extension works best for me, mostly because it gives me a more secure and faster draw from a holster. It not essential, but it does help with recoil control. I cannot shoot the 19 as well as the 26, I've experimented with both many times. The slightly smaller 26 does make a difference for concealed carry. The 43 is a great gun, but the 26 is far more controllable and accurate.

    • @tomaltieri1572
      @tomaltieri1572 7 років тому +5

      The 26 is the most versatile...I can shoot it as well or better than any other Glock. I've shot them all. For competition, the 17 with a Glock 3.5 connector works best for me, it's a cheap part that can be purchased for 18 dollars online. I can shoot my 26 almost as well as my 17, but considering it's smaller size and conceal ability, if I had one gun it should be a 26. You really don't need anything else. The 19 is the most popular, but the smaller size of the 26 makes a difference for me, especially in Florida, wearing shorts and a t shirt most of the time. You just have to find what works for you.

      It sometimes feels like the 26 has less recoil than the 17. Think about it, shorter barrel means less velocity/energy, so less recoil impulse. G-17 is a little heavier, but more counter force (recoil) because bullet stays in barrel longer which generates more velocity/energy. 17 is a little more of a push, 26 more of muzzle flip. The differences between the two a too small to worry about.

    The Glock 26 is all you will ever need. One gun, learn how to draw and shoot it fast and accurately. The larger models are fine, but the G26 conceals better. Carry extra mags if you feel it’s necessary. The g19 is bigger, period. The pinky thing is overblown. Even with a Pierce extension (if you need it) the G26 is smaller. The G26 gives you more options. I promise, that if you train with it, you will shoot it as good as any Glock, if not better.

The trigger housing are interchangeable as well as the G19 Barrel will function perfectly in the G26. All sights are interchangeable as well. Big reason I stayed within the same generation. The G26 does offer alot of versatility for carry as well as being LIGHTER (weight does matter) and CONCEALABLITY. Good review as G19 (home) and G26 (carry).

    Glock 26 is the best glock hands down. Not enough grip for you? Grip extension. Not enough rounds? throw a glock 19,17,18 mag in there. A glock 26 can always have a bigger grip or more rounds, yet you can keep it stock for easy summer carry. Your 19 can't shrink though.

    I have both a G26 & a G19. I found that the 26 was hard to shoot as well as I would like without a place to put my pinkie. So, I bought the extended floor plate. That solved that problem ... HOWEVER ...
    Once you put the extended floor plate onto the G26 mag, the height dimension of the pistol is almost identical to the G19 ... but the G19 is still giving you about 50% more ammo in the mag. Since the barrel is pointed down, the only part of the gun that might "print" would be the grip, and since the grip length is now the same between the 26 & the 19, there's really no reason NOT to carry the 19.
    I've carried both firearms and it's my experience that the difference between the two, carry wise, is essentially non-existant. They feel the same on my hip. They have the same amount of "print" ... which is pretty much none. The only real differences between the two at this point is that the 19 has 50% more ammo and it is more accurate to shoot because of the longer sight radius.

    I would say go with 19 or 17 which ever one fits your hand better. I have a 26, it is good for carry but I always finding myself wishing I had a little more grip to hold onto when shooting it. In my opinion the extra grip is worth the slight loss in conceal-ability. Sadly, the grip on a 19 doesn't fit my hands well so I would have to go with the 17 if I were to go up in size.

    • @silentbob267
      @silentbob267 7 років тому

      I have one magazine with a pinky extension like that (not sure which brand) and I really don't care for it. Mostly personal preference, but it feels more awkward using it than letting my pinky hang free off the end of the grip. I also have a grip extension sleeve that works with a G17 mag and turns the mag into a longer grip. It still feels a bit awkward for me to use but not as much as the pinky extension.

Keep it loaded to eleven rounds for a few weeks, and you will find that you can then get that twelfth round in there with just a little extra effort.

    I've been trying to decide between these two Glocks for years. It's like trying to decide which of your kids you love more. I just gave up and own them both. I shoot one just about as well as the other, out to 25 yards with both in stock form. The G19 will turn in a slightly better score for me beyond 25 yards.
    But I did notice one difference in carrying the G26 concealed, and that was that my draw from an IWB holster was not as good, even with practice, as I would wish when using the flush magazine. So, when carrying that way, I'll use a G26 magazine fitted with a Glock +2 extender. I've also used the G26 with a G19 magazine and an X-grip adapter in this role as well, and that results in a very nice draw with a gun that clears leather just a bit faster than a G19. My spare magazine is always either a G17 or G19 magazine. I only use the flush fit 10 rounders for situations such as pocket carry where the gun must be as small as possible.
    I carry the G26 these days much more than the G19, since I have retired to south Florida, keeping the larger gun for home defense with a light on it, or to train new shooters with. If I absolutely had to give one gun up, I'd be keeping the G26, because I can generally make it do anything the G19 can do. I've actually thought about ditching the Glock 19 for a Glock 17 as a house gun, because who cares how big it is in that role?
    Thanks for a good video on what must be a "first world problem" only. Choosing WHICH Glock we will be carrying today, lol.

    G26 has been my BUG and off duty gun for years. Shoot just as good with the 26 as the 19 out to 25yds. Do have a Pearce +2 extension on my carry mag and have a G17 mag as my back up mag. So I have 13 at the ready and if God forbid I actually have to reload, 17 for reloading. My G19 is my duty/GTW piece. I will be picking up the G19X.

    HS, those paddle holsters of yours are a disaster waiting to happen. If debris gets in behind the release button, your gun is locked in tight. I've seen it happen during training when going to ground. The Safariland ALS system is much better, more reliable and safer. I do not work for Safariland. I just want to make sure you're aware of this potentially fatal flaw.

    I have the 43 with a 1 round extension and mag guts that give me another round. That’s 8 plus 1 in the chamber. Chose the 19 next because it has a light rail so that is my bedside gun. Now I want a 26 for when I want to carry but don’t require the smaller size of the 43. We can open carry in Texas. I generally do not but on occasion I do but would rather carry the 26 over the 19 in that case. Especially if I am open carrying but need to go into an establishment that only allows concealed. Pull my shirt over and I’m good to go. Kinda hard with the 19. Great guns all.

    My first Glock was the 19 gen4 , after over 5000+ rounds through it I wanted to sell it to buy me a gen5 19 . so I sold it and stumbled across the gen5 26 so I bought it and absolutely love this gun ! A few months later I went shopped for the gen5 19 and could Not find one anywhere ( this was during COVID-19) so one day I’m in camping world back in the sporting good section and I see a Glock 34MOS gen4 so I thought I really want one of these but was holding out for my g19 , then I said. “screw it ! “. I bout the 34MOS and I absolutely love this gun as well ! I bought three 20 round mags for it and they all are FDE color and put a TLR-4 on it and it’s my night stand gun till “range time” . I also bought the 29 gen4 and the 40MOS installed a Holosun 407co on it and it’s a freaking tac driver! All these glocks and I still don’t have my beloved Glock 19 ………. I hope to save up some $ and finally get one again a gen 5 this time but it’s gonna be a bit, in the meanwhile this Glock 26 gen5 has its new Ameriglo Spartan night sights and pierce mag extensions and has become my everyday everywhere CCW gun , in all honesty it flat delivers the goods down range and on target!
    I highly recommend the 26 gen5 ! 🤩🇺🇸

    Big deciding factor for me in getting the 26 over the 19 was the capacity, or lack thereof. In Cali the limit here is 10 rounds and my rationale was picking the gun that held 10 by default, rather than pick the 19 and still hold the same amount as the smaller gun (which shoots with similar performance). 2c

      Thank-you. We actually get asked enough about the "show clear" that we did a video on it ua-cam.com/video/emzgtt0oQJA/v-deo.html
      However, in case that video doesn't interest you - here's why:
      We (and other channels like ours) do that for a purpose, it is because there are different reasons people come to UA-cam. Some come purely for entertainment but many are new to firearms and come to UA-cam to learn. As safe handling procedures are the most important factor of dealing with firearms, reinforcing it is important. An inexperienced shooter viewing our videos (or others with a similar mindset) will be reminded of the need to be very aware of the state of the weapon in addition to following the other safety procedures. Every once in a while you hear of somebody being shot by an "unloaded gun" (obviously it wasn't) or during the cleaning procedure. Hopefully reinforcing the need to clear a weapon that is going to be handled for a reason other than actually firing it may educate somebody and prevent a tragedy.

      Follow up question: are they +1 or +2 extensions, and how close do they get to becoming the grip length of the G19? Because if it's down to within half an inch, that settles my personal choice.
      If the extensions make the 26 nearly as tall as the 19, I'll take the 19 with a 15+1 capacity. Concealing is not an issue for me since I can hide a 5.5inch tall 1911 with no problems.

    Between the G17, G19, and the 26, there’s nit much difference. Sure with a longer barrel you’ll get more velocity, but won’t make all that much difference. Smaller handguns mean more comfortable to carry not shoot necessarily. Guess thats why the medium G19 wins the day in terms of sales. I’ve owned all three models, but have carried a G19 since 2007. Your choice, but not much of a big deal of difference.

    The 19 really ain't that much bigger than the 26. Additional slide length is basically negligible since it goes in your pants, and the longer grip isn't all that bad either. It's the thickness that gets you. Both are chunky...
    which is why I love the G48 lol.

    G26 is the best pistol out there. The grip length is the best on the market. Barrel length is good enough for modern ammo velocity. The hump on the grip fits great in the palm. It is as light as many of the single stacks on the market. Plus you can throw a 17 mag in for night stand duty. I have never had a malfunction with mine - about 3k rounds.

I mostly carry my G26 now but could switch back and forth between the G26 and G19 if I wanted to. It's very nice to have that versatility. One thing I love about the G26(Baby GLOCK) is that it's so light and very comfortable to wear. Sometimes! Can't hardly tell I'm wearing it. I recently visited the range and got a chance to inspect a G26 gen 5. I really wanted to like it, but I found that I couldn't rack the slide all the way back on the baby Glock whereas it was super easy on the G19. Was it something I was doing wrong, or is there genuinely that much difference in the spring? Also, is the M&P 2.0 Subcompact very difficult to manipulate compared to any of those, or any of the newer Ruger or Sig pistols (I can manage most of those quite easily)?

    Okay so I have a question my wife bought me a Springfield xd compact 3.3 I took it out to the range and had no accuracy with it my friend took his glock 19 and I had no trouble hitting the targets could that be because it’s a bigger gun I’m more accurate with it or could it be brands I would like to get the glock 26 for conceal carry I just don’t want to end up with the same problem I’m having with my Springfield

      The larger the gun, the more forgiving it tends to be toward improper grip and trigger management. Small, thin guns are harder to get a proper grip on along with getting your trigger finger properly positioned. It just takes a bit more work. One thing with the trigger is to try to use the first pad of your finger, if you cannot due to large hands then use the second pad - but never center the trigger on a joint - always a pad.

    Nice review on a pair of very popular firearms. Hammer Striker are you located in central Florida?

      Thank-you. Yes, we are based in Central Florida which is a perfect place to have a gun channel since we can be outside year round.

    I can't find that locking holster for the glock 26. Is there a link to them?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  4 роки тому

      They are now "imidefense", you can order from their site and they will come over from Isreal so it takes a couple of weeks. Part number is IMI-Z1040

    If i was only thinking about getting one glock what should i get? Im 5'9 and i want concealed carry more right now but does it really make a difference having it go smaller and does that affect it at all?

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  4 роки тому

      Smaller is easier to hide in more places, harder to shoot well. I carry a G26 in a pocket most of the time (sometimes a G29). If carry is your bias and you are willing to practice to get good with it, go with the G26. If you want the 3-finger grip then the G19 covers that base.

    What prevents the glock 26 fitting into the holsters made for 19/17? All along I thought that the glock 26 is smaller on every dimension compared to bigger glocks

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  6 років тому

      It all depends upon the holster. There is a slight difference in size/shape/position of the trigger guard as well as differences in the shape of the dust cover. Holsters for the Compact (19 for example) are more likely to fit a Subcompact (ex: 26) than a holster for a Full-Size (ex: 17). Kydex holsters that use those components as part of a retention mechanism or that are tightly formed to the shape of the gun for a "friction/squeeze" retention may have issues. Those that are less specific to the exact shape of the gun such as non-retention or those that use a thumb-break or other rear retention will usually work. "Pouch Style" holsters are fine as well.

    Carrying a G26. Looking at getting G19. I carry appendix style and worry the 19 will dig into my lower .... abdomen. Thoughts??

      Short pistols are best suited to appendix. Things like the G26, Shield, Hellcat, etc.

    In your opinion, is there a big difference in recoil between 26 vs 19? I know 9mm is rather mild anyways. Have the 19 and love it but tough for summer carry. 43 is nice size but hate 6 rounds and tad snappy. Trying to find in between (10 rds plus) that shoots like 19 but more concealable in summer time - any help greatly appreciated

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  6 років тому +4

      The biggest difference is the number of fingers you can get on the grip. If you have average to strong hands you will have no trouble at all. If you have less powerful hands you may find it uncomfortable as it may be more inclined to muzzle flip. Pinky extenders can help but then you are getting back toward a G19 size grip. I find felt recoil to be about the same on either gun and have no trouble keeping it in my hand and on target..
      If the '43 is just a little snappy to you then the 26 will likely feel fine and be easy to control.

    How to conceal gun perfectly under thin shirt or t-shirt in summer. Glock 19
    Glock 26 has loose hand grip.

    • @HammerStriker
      @HammerStriker  4 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately thin shirts and carry tend to not play nicely. The only real way to do it is if the shirt is a bit oversized so it is loose and a bit longer. Tight shirts will print for sure and short shirts will be likely to ride up and sit on top of the grip (exposing it). Despite the heat (which I am not really built to tolerate), I find that slightly thicker shirts tend to conceal better and stay off the grip better.

    God damn I just can't take it anymore listen to you guys talking about how an inch or less and either barrel length for grip is the sustained and deal breaker on whether or not a pistol is concealable. Absolutely ridiculous! Particularly when you're talking about giving up capacity or proper grip . I love glocks but nothing short of 43 is going to fit somebody's pocket. These things are engineered aesthetically in the same place that designs cinder blocks. Buy a tight-fitting holster or shove the thing in the back of your pants, put on a long shirt and drive the f*** on!
