Hey the S15 mags are only on backorder NOT out of stock.. They are shipping from as soon as 7 days up to about a month.. But they're there... So.. Body type.. I'm 5'10" 150... I just got the 48 mos and waiting on the 43x mos... and it's literally perfect for me. That being said... If I were larger I probably would've gone with the 19. Cool video dude!
I use a 26 cut for RMR in the summer and 19 in the “hoody” season. It I use a holster with a much higher belt clip. Makes it harder to draw, but practice solves that.
I just adjusted my holster height and used a wedge sometimes to carry my G26 with 12 or even 17 rounds. I also used a dovetail mount to install a red dot on it. I've made it work, overcoming each of the difficulties you mentioned. Maybe cheaper than buying a whole new gun.
One of the most logical and well-reasoned gun videos I've seen. I went through the same analysis you did when I settled on the G26. Only when I carry the G26, I use the flush fit mag to minimize printing and carry a longer mag in my pocket as a spare (I don't need to carry a light or a red dot, to each their own!). I am tempted by the thinner Glocks from time to time, but in the end, the negatives outweigh the benefits for me. Good job!
i was considering the 26 for concealed carry but like the guy in the video said, its less shootable without the mag extension, and at that rate being about the same dimension as the 19 with 3 less rounds you might as well go for the 19 anyways cause it has 3 more rounds bone stock oem so it has higher reliability too. seems like no matter hhow much i analyze it, it seems like i should just stick to the 19 overall. its like the perfect size. i was thinking of a 26 as a backup gun, but now im thinking of just getting a second 19 instead.
@@bobsnittle3793 Can't argue with anything you say, except I'm not sure why two G19s are better than a G19 and 26? Anyway, my primary EDC is actually split between my CZ 75 P01 Omega and my Kimber 1911 Custom II (which I have on me now). Except compared to other Glocks, I really don't see the advantage of the G26 at all, though I do still carry it on occasion.
I own a 19 and a 48. My 19 sits in the nightstand full time, my 48 sits on my hip, but if I had to choose one over the other and couldn't have both I'd get a 19 for a lot of the reasons stated. I think the 48 (with shield arms mags) is superior for my purposes but I also think that everyone should own a 19 haha.
I have a g43 and a g48. So I can also make a G43x and a G43LS. I ankle carry the 43 always, and hip carry the 48 sometimes. I have 3 shield arms mags but havent even tried them out since I have a bunch more 10 round oem mags. I will be getting a G19 next since it has better factory mag capacity and I would also then be able to share mags with my UDP-9 (mostly have a ton of 31 round mags for it and a 15 round g19 mag).
I’m too small in frame to conceal carry a Glock 19, so it’s a nightstand choice. Depending on the weather, I IWB carry the Glock 48 or Glock 26. If concealment is still an issue, I carry a Glock 42 because it’s more accurate for me than the Glock 43. Like you, I love my gen 1 Shield Arms S15s for the Glock 48. Gives me capacity of Glock 19, but much easier to wear concealed.
I just bought the G43X. I plan on it to be my new conceal carry gun. My current one is my FN 509 Midsize. But it prints on my body type so I need a smaller gun, so I went with the G43X. I also have a Sig P320 X Series full 4.7 with night sights, light and wilson combat grip module for my home defense/night stand gun.
Good video. I’ve been carrying concealed off duty for 29 years, going on 30 in a few months. I own 16 Glocks now (and countless other brands and calibers). I only say that because I’ve compared various Glock models carried concealed in every single configuration that you can imagine. I prefer IWB appendix as #1 for me. I shelved my 19’s, 26, 48 and 43’s for the 43x. I also carried the 48 the same way, but like the 19, it bothered me while seated due to its length. So the 43X is my winner and I will only use Glock factory OEM magazines. That means 10-rounders for the 43x and 48 and so be it, it works nicely. It’s why I carry two spares in my pocket. For off duty, I don’t need all that tactical hardware of larger mags on my waistband area, nor my pockets. Again, I’m off duty and 10+1 with two spares is enough. The 26 is a fantastic gun however, but it’s mothballed now in the safe. I like the thinness of the 43x better. Also, get a Vedder “light tuck” kydex IWB holster and you won’t have that “top heavy” feeling when carrying the 26 IWB, Vedder is so much better than T.Rex, plus the spring steel clip is adjustable for height. You get what you pay for.
@Dr Beechas I collect firearms, so owning every Glock model in 9mm (as well as Hk 😄 ) is a choice I make. Also I’d never “Frankenstein” one gun, for parts onto another, but I have seen the slide “swapping” done that you mentioned amongst the various Glock models. Lastly, I love the 43 (as I do the 43x and 48). It just depends on what time of year, season, clothing I’m wearing and where I’m going or doing that determines which gun I’m carrying that day.
I've been shooting the G19 ever since I started shooting, it was the first gun I ever shot, and became my daily carry, so to me the single stacks actually feel weird to shoot and I'm not as accurate as with the G19 or the G26, I think a single stack makes sense as a pocket gun, like the G43, but the G43X is the same size as the 19, but single stack to me that feels very strange to shoot
I got a Glock 26 because I could find one. I’m glad i got this gun in particular because it is truly the most versatile Glock. It fits any double stack mag bigger than 10 rounds and I don’t think most people get that 🤯
Love my 26 still, and these days I’m finding myself switching back-and-forth between these two pretty regularly. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Thanks for watching, love it if you’d subscribe!
I understand your point but personally I think the 19 is the most versatile Glock ever made. It's no wonder that it takes 1st place umong any Glock ever made. I'm 5.11, 200lbs and have no issues concealing the 19 during winter or summer. It's all in the holster plus you get 15+1 rounds vs 10+1 rounds and not to mention it's easier to shoot than a smaller gun. Case closed.
@@ATOMSKI_MRAV the 26 is more versatile because you can essentially make it bigger but you can't make the 19 smaller... I have carried big (92-series Berettas) and small (Bond Bullpup). I now have a 27, same form factor as the 26, I can throw any .40 Glock mag in it, can drop in a G23 barrel or a 9mm conversion barrel.
Mine’s a G19. Put about 50 rounds through a G26 last week and was pleasantly surprised. Both could work for me, but I’ll “dance with the one I came with”. Thanks for the video.
@@grominwithrob1339 Glocks, like most decent pistols these days, are hard to find. I suggest striking up a good relationship with your local FFL and getting on their list. I have also found several guns at decent prices just by making regular trips to several gun stores.
@@Wicked_RotF30 I guess it depends on hand size and preference obviously. Really there is no wrong answer here right? Lol. They're both awesome handguns that will last a lifetime
Same I have gen 5 on both. My IWB holster fits both guns so I carry both comfortably. My g26 is for when I want to pocket carry in sweats or basketball shorts.
I carry the 26 with the xgrip on the 15rnd mag. Have never had an issue with it wanting to “flip out”. Sounds like the problem you’re having is the holster…not the barrel length. But I guess if you’ve trained with it sticking up above your belt farther…to each his own 🤷🏼♂️
I went through the same thing about ten years ago...It was the evolution of realizing that the average person in public has no awareness of what is going on around them.
My favorite edc is the s&w csx. I have a 43x, 48 and 19 and kinda favor thin models for comfort but the 19 is still an awesome gun. We are blessed to live in a time of many awesome choices for edc
In my experience, a huge factor in the tipping problem is your carry belt, and you didn't mention that at all. A stiff belt and good holster with a claw should keep the gun upright, as long as your belly isn't too big.
Big Foot Gun belts are amazing belts for carry or everyday use. There is not any department store that can sell you the quality these belts have. I have a 14 and 18 oz.
You could always use a G19 holster with the G26/+2 mag and carry a 17 rnd spare mag. Also, T1 Concealment makes foam wedges that push the barrel portion of the holster out so the grip portion stays in tighter to the body.
Exactly what I do. I have a t1 19 holster and carry both guns in it depending on what I feel like carrying. I mainly just carry the 19 now. The size between the two is negligible once you put bigger mags in the 26 and the holster is the same length regardless. Tier 1 makes the best AIWB holsters. I carry my 34 sometimes in one 😂
Love the 19. Still a great carry gun. Is there a single gun youtuber that doesn't have giant hands? I could carry a G43 with flush fit mags and still get a full grip.
I’m currently operating with -Gen 5 G19 -43x MOS w/507k -Gen 4 G26 Since obtaining the 43x I have officially retired my G26. I swap between the 19 w/ Shield +5 and the 43x w/ Shield 15 mags with +5 extension. Those shield mags are amazing.
The holster roll out problem is easily solved with a longer holster. You don't have to change guns. The 26 in a G19 or 17 holster won't roll out at all. Plus you can add an X Grip adaptor and run a 15 round mag in the 26. I love my 26 set up like that.
This is true, personally though I didn’t like the X grip. I have one, and the fitment is pretty poor. Also I still needed to put a light, and an optic on. Could get the slide mailed on the 26, but I don’t like any of the light options for the 26. Thanks for watching!
Luckily where I bought my glock 19 they walked me through a bunch of brands and models to help me decide to land on the G19. I always knew for my first gun I wanted a Glock, however when deciding on which one I told them my purpose for my firearm was for concealed carry andddd work as I am armed Security Officer / fugitive recovery agent. The barrel was the right size for a duty weapon and a perfect size for concealed carry. I’m 6 foot and weigh 185lbs with a bit of a beer belly lol but after exploring my options of a holster i had found my perfect setup for IWB carry. I ran it perfectly for months and decided that even though there was minimum printing I’d invest in a claw kit for my IWB holster. So glad I went with the Glock 19. If you go with any Glock I’d recommend the Glock 19 most definitely 👍🏼
@@godzeus9702 yeah, 15+ years ago my first was a glock 22. Not sure how I landed on that, especially since I was planning on carrying it also, but, well, I guess I just didn't know anything back then. I switched to a g23 a couple years later, then a g19 like 6 or 7 years ago, and 1 or 2 years ago switched to a sig p365xl, which I freaking love. I don't know why it took me so long to try carrying a small gun, but I'm super happy I did. I don't print at all and I just completely forget it's there. Though I also live in CT so I'm stuck with 10 round mags no matter which gun I choose.
@@Mockturtlesoup1 G43 is too small for my hands can’t get a good grip on it. But I’m dreaming of the Staccato super expensive and every time i look at it. I’m like dang it a nice mid level AR cost less and I could get a decent red dot or scope for it. So for now I’ll stick to Glock 19 or the 17. How is that SIG any hiccups?
I recently made the same switch, but for a couple different reasons: first, the 19's 15 +1 capacity vs the 26's 12+1 with a +2 mag ext. are exactly the same length. Second, I was never able to shoot the 26 very well, always shot my 17 way better, but just too much gun to carry. So the longer barrel works, without giving up concealability. Great video, thank you.
This is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST comparison, suggestion, and explanation I’ve heard on UA-cam! Looking to purchase this helped me the MOST. Thanks Brother!! Great information!
I own a Glock 43x. You can buy 15rd magazines that are the same profile as original mags, made of metal not polymer. There are also lights and lasers that mount to the trigger guard of the 43x. Then it just comes down to if the longer barrel, and a little more recoil is an issue. I’ve found it isn’t.
Had no issue getting an optic, a weapon light/laser combo, s15 mags and a holster for my 43x. One problem I have with it is that I can not yet carry it because my wife doesn't know I bought another gun 😅
Aside from your choices re 26 v 19, something that can mitigate the forward lean as well as the other lateral printing factors is the use of the ENIGMA chassis by Phylster. Use whatever holster you want (they recommend a wide variety) and the chassis controls the cant, lean, tilt and rotation of the weapon, tuned to your body type. Awesome solution we've been using for a few months now teaching on the range as well as working contracts.
You could also just use a holster made for a 19 or even a 17 to achieve the same effect of inside the pants leverage that the longer barrel provides. Though there's nothing at all wrong w/ the G19 as a choice.
To make my smaller Hellcat not dip forward from top-heaviness, I put a thick wedge on the bottom of the holster. It pushes the top of the gun into my body along with the claw on the holster. The good thing about a wedge is that you can control how thick you want to go. The thicker the more it pushes the top into you. They sell precut wedges for this purpose but you're better of just buying small dense foam sheets from amazon for like $7 and just cut them to your holster size and layer them as you wish with super glue or any adhesive. Remember, the wedge on the back of the holster needs to be below the belt-line to create a fulcrum and push the upper half into you. I have some on my G19 holster as well to really avoid printing.
@colt for what its worth, several top holster can be used to holster more than one Glock size. For example my Tenicor Velo which is made for my Glock 17 can also holster my G19 and G26, and give that leverage you talk about wanting when carrying the smaller barrel gun. Additionally, a Tenicor velo made for the G19 can also carry the G26, and because the bottom of the holster is open, also holster the G17 though it sticks out the bottom a small amount. The same holds true for the G43X in a G48 holster. But, one might have to try them out and asses for themselves. I carried my G19 and when I wanted to see if a G17 was feasible for me to conceal carry, I went to my local gun shop and tried it in my G19 holster.
Prior to my dad’s passing, he had 3 26’s and 2 43’s. I ended up with 2 of the 26’s and having carried a Taurus G2 , I switched up to the 26. I love it. I’m not an overly big person and found a leather appendix carry holster that keeps it pretty steady. Great video man. Much love from NC🤙🇺🇸
I think the missing part of “conceal ability” is the difference in dimensions when it comes to appendix carry vs 3-4 carry. The height of the gun is extremely important for the 3-4 carry, while length is much important for the appendix carry. Thickness (unless wearing tight clothes) seems to be mostly about comfort. The new sig x macro seems to be major proof. Everyone I’ve heard that likes the long 17 round mag is appendix carrying. Right now is summer and I carry the 26 at 3-4 with no grip extension. I would gladly take a longer barrel, but I’ll save the grip extensions for late fall. If I were to carry sig, I would run a standard 365 frame (10 rd flush mag) with an xl barrel. I’m assuming sig will eventually release a full length slide for their new full length grip; I would probably even like that on a standard 365 frame.
I started with the 26 and always had a problem concealing it appendix. A little over a year ago I got a PHLster Floodlight holster, which is very long since it is made for guns with a Surefire X300 light on it. This means that the holster is long enough to completely cover the G34, which is the second-longest 9mm Glock. Now I carry with a G34 with the grip chopped to G19 length with a G19 magazine in it. It conceals better than the G26 ever did. Who'da thought?
When carrying the g26 maybe you should try the Mckinatec Holster with the claw and side car for appendix. Wont move at all or feel like its wants to flip out, the flex one kind flex is what they call it
At the risk of this making me sound like a little bitch LOL, I’m not really interested in the whole sidecar thing as I don’t really have any desire to take the holster out every time I have to go to the bathroom. But certainly the claws make a big difference. Thanks for watching.
Yes true. When I said “full size” I meant double stack, with interchangeable parts and mags. As opposed to the thin single stack guns. Thanks for watching!
@Dun Koff huh lmao. If you got female hands just say that because common sense tells you if the Glock 17 is full-size. And the Glock 19 is shorter in slide and handle. That would make it a midsize / compact. Nobody said sub compact. Meaning. Smaller than normal. SMH 🤦🏾♂️
Excellent video about the whys of choosing a pistol to suit your carrying needs. You even pointed out the deciding reasons you chose these over the slimline, without coming across as telling people what to buy. This gives the audiences things to think about what fits their needs and makes us more informed about our choices.
I would love to be able to enjoy carrying a Glock, but the grip angle just doesn't work in my hands and I tend to get slide bite every time I used one. Shame too considering the ubiquitous nature of all things Glock. That said, I am a huge fan of my Sig P365 XL. Just with the rail wasn't proprietary.
I mean you should just carry what more comfortable for you if caliber is same. I carry g26 frame but it’s the 33 in .357 sig. I wanted that round, and went with the 33 over 32 or 31 cuz I want a pocket rocket and Glock was best option. For appendix and bedside, I got an FN and Sig Sauer
I have too many G17 mags to get into the slimmer glocks. I have a 17, 19 and 26. 26 on the ankle. 19 at the 3:00. G17 mag in my front left pocket (in a pocket mag holder). Ankle gun can be an easier one to access when in a vehicle depending on the situation.
I've carried my G34 on a few occasions, although the G19 is definitely my ideal set up. I cringe when people tell me that a G19 is way too big for carry.
Great video, short intro, and you get right into it and explain every aspect of the carrying dilemma. And I agree with you, I sold my 43X and was carrying a p365, but it's just too short and bends forward, so now I', carrying my 19, and doesn't flip forward. You do good videos. Thanks.
started with a G43 for carry, switched to a CZ P01, bought a 43x for an extra carry (wonderful gun) than replaced it with my current carry - Sig Sauer P365XL with the following upgrades : - Icarus Ace metal frame, Holosun 507k, Armory Craft metal mag release and olight valkyrie mini2 light gun is excellent
@Brandon Nelson the recoil on my 48 feels the same as my 19 IMO, again it’s easier to conceal and shoots the same as my 19 and 19x so if we are talking concealed gun again I am going with the 48 over any 19.
I got a new Blue Label 🚔 Glock 26 9mm gen 5 in 2020. Fall. I prefer the 26 due to the smaller size but it can use 15 or 17rd Glock 9mm spare magazines. I use a 12rd Magpul, extended grip mag too. My Glock 26 has a few after market parts, factory Ameriglo night sights. It conceals well & I use HST 124gr +P 9mm mostly. The only misfire I had was after 500+ 9mm factory rounds with a Federal Syntech red polymer tip 9mm that left a small strip of red polymer in the trigger 😖. I cleaned & checked the 26 gen 5 9mm. It worked fine & had no misfires, 600+ FMJs.
I carried a G19 as my Duty Weapon for over 10 years and I sometime carried it as a off duty carry gun. At this time, when I was off duty, the G26 was my EDC! I loved this Combo and stayed with it up to my retirement and then I traded them both for My G43 & G48! I have been a Glock Guy all my shooting life but as I got older, My New Combo has changed and I'm still a satisfied Glock User!
Real good video. Long story short, there is a journey to finding the gun, holster, holster position, etc for your specific needs. It really is a process. My best teaching moments was buying a Smith & Wesson shield and not being able to shoot well with it. I ended up with a G19 and later a G43X. They suit my needs perfectly. Although, I've been wanting to get my hands on the Sig P365 Macro to see how it feels.
I'm 6ft, 245. I carry a Glock 43x with shield mags. The slimness of it is what gets me. Fits my hand better and it conceals IWB or pocket carry. Giving me options. I dont like lights and optics on carry guns. Adds more to go wrong imo and just complicates the carry. I'm also a guy who wont carry if it's not comfortable and I want to carry so I buy accordingly.
Being an older gentleman, I have conceal carried my Glock 23 since the mid 90s. For two plus decades I have carried the same and printing has not been an issue; always easier in cooler months with heavier and/or more clothing. As you stated, much depends on an individual's body type, where they carry, and type/brand holster. The only thing that has changed, over the past 25 years, is ammunition technology. My 23 may be configured in 40S&W, 357SIG, or 9x19. Ballistically, all three calibers are very similar today. This was not the case 25 years ago; yet still, each of these calibers have strengths and weaknesses. I like to have options and maximize utility. This is very easy to obtain with minimal investment in my case. The mission dictates the gear. Anyhow, good video and explanation of what works best for you.
Great explanation of the evolution most people go through for AIWB carry. My journey was essentially the same. I landed on the G19 just like you as well.
It’s interesting, because I think it’s a necessary Evolution, and then once you land on the 19 you wonder why you didn’t just start there LOL. Thanks for watching.
I had just about the same process, except for I started with a Shield. After a while I was carrying with the 8rd mag, which is exactly the same height as a G19.
@@ColtDaniel We lucked out. My wife and I (both first timers) went in the gun store to check out S&W shield. I checked out beforehand their inventory online. Zero Glocks. After looking at the Shields, he brought out both the 26 and the 19. I bought the 19, then the next day we went back and picked up the 26 for my wife. We live in CA, so they are gen3. Still in the waiting period.
If you’re getting a 9mm Glock, the Gen 3 has an extra frame pin, making its frame stronger and less likely to break your frame when shooting +p and +p+ loads. As well as a smaller recoil spring hole. Making it less likely to break as well. 2 known weak spots in the Gen 4-5 models, but not the Gen 3 models. It’s why I only buy Gen 3 9mm Glocks.
It's exceedingly rare for either of those things to happen in the real world. That's like saying NATO spec 124gr ammo can wear out your gun faster, so I only shoot the cheapest and weakest 115gr mouse fart loads I can find in my 9mm Glocks.
My brother has a Gen 4 model 19. It doesn’t have the extra frame pin. Neither does the 17. Not sure maybe the 26 does but I don’t think so. However larger calibers in Gen 4 do. So since they thought it was necessary for the .40, 357sig, 45, and 10mm, but not the 9mm, it kinda bothers me. I like the extra pin since 9mm is a high pressure round. @@JR15A2
I have a Gen4 26 and 17, and they both have the 3rd pin. I have also seen many other examples of all the Gen4 models with it. I would suspect a 2-pin Gen4 to have been made during a transitional period leading up to the release of the Gen5 models. None of the Gen5 models have it, not even the 10mm model, so I suspect they've done something else with the steel frame embedded in the polymer and/or the formula used to make it stronger, so the extra pin is no longer needed.@@silverhorder1969
Great video. Very tough to argue with that logic. I used to carry a G17, appendix, with +2 base plates. That was a few pounds ago though. Overseas, I carried a G19 with a Lasermax light/laser combo in a cheap holster with an extra mag. Kept that set up for quite a while, but I'm building a G26 and a G43 for some other options. The G19 is really hard to beat. It's just a great combination of shootability and portability that works for most people.
Good video bud, myself I Started with a 19, looked at the 48 and 43x, sticking with the 19. At this point I don’t even bother looking at other guns anymore.
The Glock 43x, with the Shield arms 15 round mag, is my conceal carry choice. It is a bit punchy, but no printing. My Glock 19 is much easier to shoot and feels better in everyway, just not as concealable. Either way, you win.
If you're still having problems with the top of your gun poking out, they make things called "claw mounts", which significantly reduce this by levering against your belt. Express concealment and other companies make them, and they attach to retention screw/screws on your holster(I believe, I don't have one as it's not a problem for me since switching to the p365xl.)
You did a hell of a job advising people how to select a concealed weapon, wardrobe to cope with the weapon, eliminate printing, etc. This video is very comprehensive. I carry a 1911 and a Sig P938. Glock makes wonderful weapons. But, I learned a 1911 first. Great vid!!!
I love my gen 5 g26 for the hoods and my 20sf for the woods.(I’m out in the hills of WV) I got a slr +5 extension for the 26 and I really like what they did to the gen5 triggers. Me and my gf both shoot my g26 better than her p365...
4:28 my 2nd firearm was the Glock 26 gen 4 carried it with the 10+1 but switched to a 15+1 and don’t have problems with the belt leaning forward with the extend mag. I just hate their isn’t any good lights to mount on the weapon. Planning on getting a compact 17 soon gonna try and deck that out with a badass light and sights
I have the 48. I will say, I am regretting not getting the 19. While the 48 is nice, it is not really anything more special than the 19. I was looking for a compact carry and chose the 48 because it is thinner. But this leads to me having problems gripping the 48 comfortably. Hindsight is always 20-20. A person will always be haunted by what they didnt do. I may end up picking up a 19 in the future, but for now, I have my 48.
@@kamii_999 I've since had a 43x and a 19, I prefer the 19 to all 3. but it's actually not my carry anymore. I'm rocking a rock island armory baby 1911 380
@cerneysmallengines I prefer 19 over 43x as well overall but for concealed carry the 43x is supreme and .380 ammo costs more but that 1911 is a beauty I won't lie
I carry a 26 with +2 and a 19 round spare mag in a galco classic lite shoulder holster. Supremely comfortable. I prefer its shooting feel over the 19 as well. No idea why. The 26 is just magic for me. Never getting rid of my 19 tho still love it.
I just adjusted my holster height and used a wedge sometimes to carry my G26 with 12 or even 17 rounds. I also used a dovetail mount to install a red dot on it. I've made it work, overcoming each of the difficulties you mentioned.
Well done vid! The G48 MOS feels "Right" In my hand and very confident! I also shoot the G19 really well and notice the grip size difference less and less over time. The one point that was missing is the G48 w the S15 mags (and were very available 6mos after this vid was done) is still MUCH lighter then the G19 and more comfortable to carry. While having all the same dimensions except for thickness, the G19 feels like a full size gun and The G48 feels almost subcompact and is almost the same Ht as the Sig P365. The G48 feels much Lighter more comfortable and easier to carry for me and feels great to shoot!
Agreed. I love my G48, and I picked up a 3-pack of s15 mags and the metal mag release for less than 110 shipped. Winter time, I carry a G22, full frame. But in the summer the G48 is so easy to conceal. 5'9" and 165, so it's a bit harder to hide a G19 vs a G48.
When I carry a G26 in an appendix holster, it is a Tenicor AIWB holster for a G19. The longer holster with the built-in wedge solves the tipping out problem. The bonus is that obviously my G19 MOS fits the same holster.
My favorite is the factory plus 2 extension in a factory gen 5 26 with tritium sights and a couple 19x mags as backup. All factory and reliable and accurate. Im 5' 8" and 180 lbs, and carry all day every day comfortably
@@kylestedman_atl lol that’s the point. You can get 12 and 15 rd mags for it. Also you can get the xl grip for it and have 12rd flush. Hell even the shield plus is a great option for cheaper.
I Started with the G19 for almost 10 years. Wanted smaller and bought a G43. Shot my sons 26 and loved it so I bought one. Now mostly carry the 19 strong side and 26 on the ankle. If really concealing the 26 appendix is the answer with +2 Pearce extension.
1, you cab get a glock 26 mos 2, you can get a deeper holster + a wedge 3. A +5 slr rifleworks baseplate on a glock 26 gives you 15+1 in a shorter package than the Glock 19 while still giving the flexibility to go to to smalle magazines while the 19 cannot.
As a bigger guy too, about his dimensions, the only issue I have with the 19 is the Glock trigger guard not being undercut well. "Glock knuckle". Nothing a little massaging can't correct though.
Hope this helped someone pick their next carry
I’ll be getting the glock 48 next but I already have a glock 19. If I didn’t already have a glock 19 I would still get a glock 19 over the 48 lol
That was a great video👍👍👍.... I have three thumbs
The flip out problem is the holster…not the gun.
I wrote that same comment but I deleted once I saw this
I agree, just a tier 1 wedge on your holster even can counter this issue, also have a good rigid belt.
I literally also started to make a new comment to say this, before I saw yours😂. It's ok he's just nut picking so he can buy new stuff like we all do
When I add a 26 to my drawer, I plan on using my 19 holsters, as you in the two that should solve the issue of flipping
THANK YOU 🗣 somebody got it. I just commented a similar comment to this one before I seen this one. Lol don’t think I stole it 😂
Something that I’ve always liked about the 26 is that you can run your G17 or G19 mags in it.
Agreed, dame in the other calibers, G30's with G21 mags etc.
Yes and all you need is wedge to address his issue or a holster that doesn’t ride so high and make the gun too heavy.
One of the best reasons to have one. I'm getting G26 Gen 5 mos asap. Just for back up to my G19 Gen 5 mos.
I carry a 26 as a BUG in an ankle holster for that very reason since my EDC is a Glock 19X
With an x grip it’s basically a g26x
One of the most logical and well-reasoned gun videos I've seen. I went through the same analysis you did when I settled on the G26. Only when I carry the G26, I use the flush fit mag to minimize printing and carry a longer mag in my pocket as a spare (I don't need to carry a light or a red dot, to each their own!). I am tempted by the thinner Glocks from time to time, but in the end, the negatives outweigh the benefits for me. Good job!
Just throw on night sights and call it a day.
with the +2 on the flush mag it doesnt change print what so ever. Might as well get the extra 2 rounds, then carry a 17rd back up
i was considering the 26 for concealed carry but like the guy in the video said, its less shootable without the mag extension, and at that rate being about the same dimension as the 19 with 3 less rounds you might as well go for the 19 anyways cause it has 3 more rounds bone stock oem so it has higher reliability too. seems like no matter hhow much i analyze it, it seems like i should just stick to the 19 overall. its like the perfect size. i was thinking of a 26 as a backup gun, but now im thinking of just getting a second 19 instead.
@@jackmemphis777 make sure u change the mag catch when using shield arms magazine. It’s either gen 1 or 2
@@Skateborder1 yep I've got an aluminum and a steel g48 mag catch. Still running the polymer mag catch though
Amen on the Vedder.......done it and lived it.....
Ditto on the Vedder IWB holster for the 43x and a Vedder OWB for my outdoors weekends.
So you picked the wrong one is what you are telling us. Lol
I'm a pretty short dude at 5'5, so G43x is where I found my sweet spot. Just got to find the right gun for you.

Love my 26 still, and these days I’m finding myself switching back-and-forth between these two pretty regularly. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Thanks for watching, love it if you’d subscribe!
I get that, so much so that I replaced my .357 snub revolver with a G33 357 SIG and a 9mm second barrel for practice at one point.

Lol damn white people talk about guns in a better light then they do people of color
CSX? A man of culture i see. The false trigger reset issue is now gone and was easily fixed for early models. They are making a csx 2.0
@@InsanelyGhostly 70 bucks, that's pricy
@DJgoon12 a good carry belt is pricy but they're really lifetime investments. I use a constitine belt and it's amazing
You could always use a G19 holster with the G26/+2 mag and carry a 17 rnd spare mag. Also, T1 Concealment makes foam wedges that push the barrel portion of the holster out so the grip portion stays in tighter to the body.
The T-Rex Ironside holster is not bad for a tight tuck.
@@SunshineHBdoes the g26 fit in there just as good as the g19? Or is it a little off?

G19 is one of the best handguns ever made.. true Glock perfection
The 48 replaces it and does it better. Just sayin.

I use a stiff gun belt that seems to help with the rolling out also......if that helps any.

@danwhtx I’m missing a G19 and G26 and maybe a G34
I agree, the 19 isn’t the best at everything, but it’s really damn good at everything. Thanks for watching!
Man I need a G19 currently G17 with my G43
Being able to hit the mag release without breaking my grip on the 48 sure is nice.
For sure. To me, for my body type the longer slide makes it much more comfortable to carry. Thanks for watching
Hot tip, Glock magazines are STEEL magazines with a polymer jacket.
@@ColtDaniel nice, slide length doesn’t really matter for concealed carry anyways

Yeah, the top of my gun started “flipping out” too, but turns out it was more of a “me girth issue.”
😂😂😂 Thanks for watching!
43x is waaay thinner so it doesn’t flip out as much. Cmon man. You surely thought of that.
Thank you, this is the exact comparison and information I've been looking for. And your insights and determining factors were greatly appreciated.
Nicely done Colt, the over/under belt ratio does hold merit in the debate - counterintuitive to smaller is more comfortable.

@Dun Koff huh lmao. If you got female hands just say that because common sense tells you if the Glock 17 is full-size. And the Glock 19 is shorter in slide and handle. That would make it a midsize / compact. Nobody said sub compact. Meaning. Smaller than normal. SMH 🤦🏾♂️
I actually shoot my Glock 26 Gen-5 best with the stock 10 round flat baseplate magazine.
Excellent video about the whys of choosing a pistol to suit your carrying needs. You even pointed out the deciding reasons you chose these over the slimline, without coming across as telling people what to buy. This gives the audiences things to think about what fits their needs and makes us more informed about our choices.
That was the goal! Thanks for watching

I agree in many respects, which is why my current do-all pistol is a Glock 19 Gen 5 fs.
I'm a glock 48 lover.. I love how thin it is and it's not blocky...
For some reason I want both for my first 2, I like how the 26 holds “big brother” mags, and the 48 is a slim brother lol
I bought a 19, 43 AND a 48 lol. Which of course means I have a 43x also. I like having options
You say blocky, but isn't that mainly because glock designed their double stack grips that way when they could have done better?

For appendix carry, your pistol grip pushing out is also greatly enhanced if you have much of a belly, such as if you are 265 lb or more.

@@ColtDaniel and worth every red cent !
@@ColtDaniel Roughly $10 more per mag is hardly a deal breaker.
Great video, short intro, and you get right into it and explain every aspect of the carrying dilemma. And I agree with you, I sold my 43X and was carrying a p365, but it's just too short and bends forward, so now I', carrying my 19, and doesn't flip forward. You do good videos. Thanks.
I love my G19. However, I find a fully loaded G19 gets a little heavy.
@Brandon Nelson mine is a Gen4 in Flat Dark Earth.
started with a G43 for carry, switched to a CZ P01, bought a 43x for an extra carry (wonderful gun) than replaced it with my current carry - Sig Sauer P365XL with the following upgrades : - Icarus Ace metal frame, Holosun 507k, Armory Craft metal mag release and olight valkyrie mini2 light
gun is excellent
forgot to mention, manual saftey as well FTW (for me personally)
I have a 48 easier to carry and has 15 rounds like the 19, so tell me when it’s not better?
@Brandon Nelson the recoil on my 48 feels the same as my 19 IMO, again it’s easier to conceal and shoots the same as my 19 and 19x so if we are talking concealed gun again I am going with the 48 over any 19.
Excellent video

Years
Now carrying the G19 in the 4 o’clock with a Vedder Light Tuck IWB

My 26 has been very reliable as well. Thanks for watching.
Did you end up getting one yet?
Well spoken, can’t be any more clear to understand, following right the way. Hope to see more info from you soon👍
There’s something out there for all of us. Thanks for watching!
@@ColtDaniel @Richard I went through a similar evolution. But I went from a Shield to a Glock 19 to a Glock 45, I now carry a glock 45/19x.
@@kengarrett9157 where in cali you guys from
If you’re getting a 9mm Glock, the Gen 3 has an extra frame pin, making its frame stronger and less likely to break your frame when shooting +p and +p+ loads.
Also, Gen4 has 3 pins. They only went back to 2 pins for Gen5.
G48 15+1, spare 20 round mag on person, Sig Rattler 300 Blkout 30+ in car.
Just curious how do you secure the 300 in your vehicle without feeling like it's gonna get stolen? locked case? or right on seat?

Great info. I have both and carry both in a bravo concealment holster at 3 o’clock and they both just disappear under a shirt
You can’t go wrong with the 19
19 & 43x Everyone needs both!
Have both lol
The Glock 43x, with the Shield arms 15 round mag, is my conceal carry choice. It is a bit punchy, but no printing. My Glock 19 is much easier to shoot and feels better in everyway, just not as concealable. Either way, you win.
I like the way you think
If you're still having problems with the top of your gun poking out, they make things called "claw mounts", which significantly reduce this by levering against your belt. Express concealment and other companies make them, and they attach to retention screw/screws on your holster(I believe, I don't have one as it's not a problem for me since switching to the p365xl.)
The G17, G19, G26 best to have all three here...
For sure! Thanks for watching
Now you need a 21
You should have gotten a taller holster.
New subscriber! I love Glock period but I truly LOVE my 43x for EDC
Thanks for watching and the sub!
Dig it. Thanks for watching!
I bought a 19 and it’s just too chunky for me to carry iwb it’s not comfortable
43x was the one I liked overall but yeah between the 48 and the 19 I would have chosen the 19.
G19 is considered compact no?
Glock 26 will forever be king of concealed carry 🤷♂️💯
Even John Wick carries a Glock 26!

Great video! The way you explained it is exactly what I’ve been looking for !
I carry a 26 with +2 and a 19 round spare mag in a galco classic lite shoulder holster. Supremely comfortable. I prefer its shooting feel over the 19 as well. No idea why. The 26 is just magic for me. Never getting rid of my 19 tho still love it.
I’ve always had flop, used a 19 holster sometimes, but a holster like a light tuck lets you adjust the clip to ride a little deeper.
I just adjusted my holster height and used a wedge sometimes to carry my G26 with 12 or even 17 rounds. I also used a dovetail mount to install a red dot on it. I've made it work, overcoming each of the difficulties you mentioned.
I feel like this video was OP trying to justify G19 purchase to himself
Great video bro, watching from Jamaica west Indies !!
I’m a CZ fan, but the Glock 26 would be nice to have.
P10 S OR is a much better option if going to that subcompact platform
Spade CZ P10 S optic ready
Love my shadow2. Great pistols...
My favorite is the factory plus 2 extension in a factory gen 5 26 with tritium sights and a couple 19x mags as backup. All factory and reliable and accurate. Im 5' 8" and 180 lbs, and carry all day every day comfortably
I did the same switch as you, but then I got the Sig p365, and I never concealed the 19 ever again. The p365 is amazing!
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Sold my 365 for a Glock 19. 365 is too dang small...
@@kylestedman_atl lol that’s the point. You can get 12 and 15 rd mags for it. Also you can get the xl grip for it and have 12rd flush.
Hell even the shield plus is a great option for cheaper.
I own an XL and love it.
Glock 48 is probably the best handgun on the market everything considered.
I can dig it! Thanks for watching, and for the comment.
1, you cab get a glock 26 mos
2, you can get a deeper holster + a wedge
3. A +5 slr rifleworks baseplate on a glock 26 gives you 15+1 in a shorter package than the Glock 19 while still giving the flexibility to go to to smalle magazines while the 19 cannot.
I have gen 3 26 19 can carry both equal the 19 feels better but I do have a g30 which I love . Just got a cz rami and a sp 01 great weapons
Thanks for watching!
Got a rami for my ccw.
I have a gen 4 26&19
Great video 👌🏾
Never been a fan of using rail accessories on my edc. Usually because I'm carrying out during the day.. My bedside has all the bells and whistles.
To each their own. I’m out after dark 50% of the time.
As a bigger guy too, about his dimensions, the only issue I have with the 19 is the Glock trigger guard not being undercut well. "Glock knuckle". Nothing a little massaging can't correct though.
