For years, I felt like the Glock 26 was obsolete. I’ve carried a Glock 43X for several years now and love it. However, I shot a Glock 26 for the first time today. I couldn’t believe it, but the perceived recoil was about HALF that of my 43X. I then got to thinking, “I can feed this thing with my G19 and G17 magazines!” I got home from the range and bought my own G26 online today. This gun is nothing to sleep on.

I carried a 26 gen 3 for 5 years now and considering to switch to a 43x because of carry comfort, i am concerned about the recoil, especially reading comments like yours, about a doubled recoil gives me not much confidence with this decision, problem is i can only have one and dont know if its a wise choice to have a 10 round gun as the one and only gun. After years of practice, how shootable do you think can the g43x can get? And did you carry the g26, how much of a comfort difference did you realise?

Same. Rented a Glock 26 Gen 5 and shot noticeably tighter groups than my P365. Gen 5 triggers in general shoot way better in my opinion. The only thing that really feels dated on the 26 is the lack of an accessory rail.

The difference between the other 10-12 rounders is almost negligible. So, because capacity counts, I’m currently deciding between the Sig Xl, X - Macro, or the Springfield Hellcat. The fact that you can feed G19, G17 and even a 33 rounder makes it a no contest for me. I've got more rounds through the little sigs than most (50k through a handful of them)They are good little guns but not nearly as durable as the glock, I have broken a few. I got into the Glock 26 because of law enforcement. When my department switched from the Glock 21 to the Glock 17 I picked up a Glock 26 to replace my Glock 30 as my backup gun. The 26 may be an "aged" design but it shoots incredibly well and I like that I can feed it with larger magazines off my belt if I need to.
My favorite of the Micro Compacts is the Shield Plus though, I had a Gen 1 Shield since they got released in 2012, never upgraded it to the M2.0, but when I saw the Plus came out fits in all the same holsters and holds significantly more ammo with the M2.0 grip I picked one up and I have been very happy with it.

I guess this just shows that different guns work best for different people. If you are some guy working mostly in an office, it probably doesn't matter a lot what you pick to carry as long as it is reliable. But if you factor in use by armed professionals, the Glock 26 has some advantages. For example, when I was a police officer, I carried a full-sized Glock in my holster and a G26 strapped to my boot as a backup. I could feed the smaller gun off the same magazines. Try that with a SIG P365. I've flown into places for work as a protection agent where I've needed to quicly replace something like lost magazines or a holster, and I can get such things just about anywhere for a Glock, including in Third World countries. When I get off the plane in one of those places and am handed a gun to use because I can't bring my own, it will more likely than not be a Glock 9mm so I have no need to do anything different than I do at home. And in the unlikely event that one of my Glocks breaks, thanks to Glock having provided me with a no-cost Armorer's school, I can repair my gun from a baggie of small parts I carry with me on the road. Try that with a SIG P365.
The video mentioned that the P365 is probably cheaper when its sights are considered. This may be true, but ignores Glock's Blue Label pricing for qualified professionals. I can buy a brand new Glock 26 for $399. I spend 15 minutes installing my preferred sights, Trijicon HD's, check zero and I'm good to go for just over $500, so pricing is a wash for me. I also only need to stock one type of relatively inexpensive factory spare magazine for all of my Glock 9mm pistols. When you own enough magazines to matter, that is a big deal. I typically carry my G26 with a factory +2 floorplate in-gun and a G17 spare magazine, giving me a load-out of 30 rounds. I live in hot and humid South Florida and have zero issues in carrying this setup.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a SIG P365 as a citizen's carry gun, but the Glock 26 has some real advantages for those who make their living with a gun. I also shoot my G26 well out to 50 yards, just like a larger gun, and I cannot reallly do that with the P365 although others may be able to or don't care if they can. Running a test on an indoor range at 25 feet hardly evaluates the uses I might have to put my carry gun to. The Glock 26 has been meeting my needs since the late 90's and I see no reason to change now just to get a gun that is a bit thinner or lighter. When I go out armed with the G26, I am carrying a "no compromise" sidearm. Others may feel differently, and that is okay.

Great timing! I just went back to my Glock 26. I was carrying the X Macro until I had an issue where the magazine release button (and its related internal parts) fell out of the frame as I was taking the gun out of the holster to secure it for the evening. I was never happy with how X Macro fit my man-size hands, but I did love how it carried. Because I was accurate enough with it, I figured that I could make the compromise and switch to the P365 platform. I have been a Glock end user for over two decades, and I have never had a failure that was not from ammunition or a lack of routine maintenance. Bottom line...please tell Gatson that I am sorry and that I will never cheat again.

James as a lifelong Glock man also, I carried my 48 for several years before buying a p365. LOVED the p365 but it was just a little too small for my hands unless I had the 12 round mag. I sold it and switched the the p365 XMacro and I gotta say…that is perfection in a CCW pistol, especially with an optic. It made me stop carrying my 48, has a better trigger, better grip, and 17 round mags are hard to beat.

The same pattern repeated for the next range trip or two and then something clicked. I can now shoot my sig better than some much larger guns, I feel like it is one of those guns you develop muscle memory for, on mine my finger slides further over the trigger than my other guns. I’m 6’2” so that might play a part in the fact my hands just can’t properly grip it, but I feel like it’s valid as long as I shoot well.

I bought a Glock 27 when they first came out and I was wrapped up in the .40 cal craze. It was good but a little snappy. To me it felt awkward. I changed to a COLT Enhanced officers .45. It was less snappy but lost 2 rounds with a Wilson magazine. Fast forward 20 years and I got a standard P365 for the wife to replace her Kahr 9. I had a couple of Sig legions in P226 and Xcarry and loved them. Had a P228 from when I got the G27. All great guns but I was accurate with her 365. When the P365 Spectre Comp came out I was one of the first in my local store to buy. Trigger great, very accurate, slightly less recoil yet still very concealable. I carry SOB so no printing to speak of but very accurate and comfortable to shoot. I put a Holosun green dot on it and shoot very fast and well with it. I don't anticipate changing until they come out with a new better option. Good video for those in the market and enjoy your videos. Geaux Saints... I'm from NOLA also. Cheers.

P365x is the way to go. When you get the Magguts mag extensions you can get 14+1 in a flush mag or 17+1 extended. The P365x also come with the optics cut.

Great comparison and entertaining as always James. The G26 is one of the few Glocks I've never owned, but do have its beefy brother, the G27, and its also an excellent carry gun and very accurate as well. I'm currently carrying the Sig P365 and the magazine with the pinky extension. In a Blade-Tech appendix holster, no printing.
    Great video brother 👍

Another great video as always. I like and own many different firearms but when it comes down to it I have a thing for Glocks and have always thought the 26 was one of the best all around carry guns and still do... Also the Glock is the only one that gives me the option of carrying it with a 10 round magazine either flat or with a +2 base plate or also a 15, 17, or 33 round back up. 👍👍

Im a Hellcat man myself, I have no idea why but I wasn't sold on them first. But then one day I saw one in the store and admittedly - she's probably the cutest of the trio with the little squared off hammer shape, picked it up and I was in heaven. Now she's got a swamp fox dot, TLR-7 SUB with a wing and I'm and its currently my second best i group with and primary carry

I have a g26 that I’ve had for years. I shoot it very well, and it always works. No problem concealing it whatsoever in a comfort tac waistband holster. When it stops doing what I need it to do, I’ll consider what’s out there. Don’t expect that to happen though. Just my favorite edc.

The dependability of the Glock pistols are outstanding and the majority of shooters love them. But I personally think they feel like a 2x4 in the hand. My main carry is a P 365 xl. I shoot it fast and accurately. As far as printing, I don’t care as long as it’s concealed.
But if and when SHTF, I’m a fan of the closet one to me.

I didn't expect the test results you got..
Not saying the 9mm has monstrous recoil, but anytime you have two guns and one has a thinner grip, the one with a thinner grip will have more felt recoil.
When the 26 came out back in the day, it was labeled as a back up gun to the 19 and 17 because it took the same magazines.

The p365 has a tighter barrel to slide lockup. I’ve always found them to hold tighter groupings over similar sized Glocks.

    Great Video Sir
I've had a couple Glocks and I have a few Sigs. I've never like the Glock in terms of shooting. I don't know why but it just never felt very good. Now primarily I'm a 1911 guy - this being said maybe it is the Glock 22° grip angle that I've never like compared to the 1911's 18° angle? Who knows. I shoot the Sig P320 way better both speed and accuracy and the Glock I just never shot it well. Could even be the horrible stock sites the Glock comes with? Now I know your video focused on the P365 with I also own and it is a great micro-compact frame. It made my Springfield XDS (which I've dumped thousands of rounds through successfully) obsolete as hell. Unfortunately, the P365 is my wife's "purse gun" and I don't get to carry it as much as I'd like. So the XDS is still my primary compact carry.
    AGAIN - Great Video!!!
