I was watching Clapton's Crossroads Fest on TV, and was getting bored. Until Gary came on the TV. Holy... who's that?! OMG, he's wonderful. So happy to hear the Blues is still alive.
I find Gary Clark Jr to be MUCH better live than any studio version i've heard of any of his songs. Go look up When my train pulls in @ Jam in the Van!
What people don't know was there was a technical problem.. The P.A. dropped sound so they couldn't hear right. He extended the intro of the song til the sound kicked in on the other guitarist amp... then it came back on. You can see the yellow shirt guy make a face like wtf at the beginning and then works it out. Clark held the song together like glue and extended the intro and improved the leads. At some point They came back on. Also that second lead was improved and extended when the crowd lost it.. That's some balls right there keeping your shit together when things are going wrong and steps up and owns it like a boss that he is. Clapton wrote a note to him saying thank you. You make me want to play again.😀

Josh dM Are you referring to the pedal? Yeah....they used wah pedals a LOT in the seventies...that was part of why it hit my ear that way. But he's got a dedication to sixties type blues, too. It's all good.
