- Amazing Performance by Gary Clark Jr. at Glastonbury, 26 June 2016
Ad disclaimer: I’m not running the super annoying ads. The label does, I have no say about that. The label also gets 100% of the ad revenue.
Thanks for this beauty performance !!! This is damn good Texas rockin' blues - with some Jimi Hendrix top-notch feeling !!! Thank-you Gary Clark Jr. and band 👍👍👍
To have a ad in the middle of this song should be a felony.
This is why adblock was invented!
Life with no parole!

Agreed. I was super pissed. GD UA-cam Red did this to us. On purpose. So we will pay to remove ads 😑
Amen to that my friend
This guy is the savior for modern blues.....listening in 2023...from Chicago, Illinois...
Right there with ya. We have plenty of blues history here, this resonates
I agree @zuzzana...I just heard "Habits" from his new album and that shit literally made me cry. The new album is 🔥🔥🔥
Search up kingfish you won't be disappointed
Don't forget about Samantha Fish.
This is probably the best version of the solo but you should definitely check the surfer lodge performance. It’s rusty at first but he really picked it up
I m an Indian, never been to America but don't know why , listening to blues makes me feel I may have lived in Southern part of the United States in my past life. That's the beauty of music, it unites you and connects you. Long live music!!!
It feels like your blood pulsing you veins
Great talent will do that no matter where it is from
When we still had tails and slithered out of the water this was what we heard
There is an Indian traditional slide guitar style. From the past but check it out.
Blues itself has roots in traditional African music which might explain it, beautiful genre indeed
peace and love man
U r high😂
I knew this was England in the first 5 seconds! Horizontal rain, gale force wind and everyone having a great time! Gary loved it too!
It's how we live and what we do!
@@philpooley673 😂😂And the BLUES is what WE do.....all of it
And the accents.
He is a savior of modern blues, listening from Detroit Motor City
One of my favorite Gary Clark Jr songs.
This is my favourite video on the entirety of UA-cam.
I want to give a shout out to the rhythm guitarist for that build up and sustain during the peak of Gary's solo, and knowing when to come down. Really nice work.
Absolutely! Great back up!
See as a Listener not a musician I appreciate that comment. You point it out and I hear what you are saying.
Yeah I was thinking the same, he was sensitive to Gary's mood and that climb was inspired.
Equally so to the bassist and drummer. Team players.
yeah Mr Zapata sure can play cheers .....
"Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel" ~Jimi Hendrix. Gary certainly has the feel!
Facts
For sure wonderful❣️
Jimi Hendrix was legendary. Loved his Music and him. What a wasted loss. Gary reminds me of him, their style is very similar. 😎♥️✌️
He's JIMI
Well, you can't really play the Blues unless you feel them, and then the playing just comes naturally!
He went from BB to Prince to Jimi and then went somewhere else. I felt all of this.
That other place he went was Carlos Santana and Eddie Hazal.
He went from Gary to Gary
... and a little Stevie Ray Vaughan... is where he went also...there in the last minute or two! 👍👍😎
To be honest It went from Alice to Gary, almost without any change ua-cam.com/video/rDFbsAZsm0Y/v-deo.html
That man and his guitar showed me the depths of my soul and found me wanting.
I just hope Gary Sr. can hear this from wherever he is, and his heart is swelling with pride !!!
When the crowd starts singing to you.....you know you're a badass.
I was thinking the same exact thing.
@Headwhacker Thats Sir Mack Rice
I dig it, yet still a semi- tragic irony, that today's BLUES greats are more appreciated and attended across the pond, than in U.S.A. Just like in the 60's. Wake up people, the best artists are not on your TV sets. They are at your Blues Festivals. Support them.
Speaking of badass, theres a video of Joey Badass freestyling over a crowd chant. It's pretty cool.
What song is the one that the public sings at the beginning?
Killer tone, feel and chops. Why this guy is not more famous is beyond me.
Blues rock isn't really mainstream. And people in the HardRock HeavyMetal community seems to be indifferent to it, if not outright hateful towards it.
He plays in Ri and Mass Chan’s and The Narrows
@@blackdragon6 their loss.
Another Powell feelin the same thought
POLITICS!
Now that is a good crowd. Not only cheering for the act, but keeping their spirits high too. Only genuine artists have those kinds of crowds.
Not once has a crowd cheered like that before a song. His stage presence is not to be taken lightly.
They are Brits they know a good thing when they see one 😁
@@clivesnell Yes, sir. And very young crowd, that's even better. Gary really know how to popularize the blues again.
@@clivesnell Those lads were Irish ☘️
@@clivesnell Totally. I would say Audiences in the UK are more enthusiastic. They love to sing along and support the band, they just seem more engaged, they’re thankful for them music. Whereas audiences here in the states are more placid. They rather look at the little pixelated musicians on their phone as it records what’s happening right in front of them.
6 years later, still crushes. Living legend.
Jesus 7 years and I never even noticed!!! Timelessness!!!
This guy is such an underrated guitarist. Probably not as technically gifted as a lot of other guitarist but definitely has better feel than most people. He’s playing with his soul right now
There a few guys out there that can precisely copy someone else's major hit, but they don't have any soul or their own personality and sound gone into it. If you take out the old legends still playing, for guitarists under 45 there is only Gary Clark Jr and Derek Trucks at the top. IMO there are passable players, but not in these two's league.
@@tennisbum7527 What about Christone "Kingfish" Ingram?
Is he playing a 61 Les Paul? Before the rebranded it as an SG.?
Forget technique, it's all about the music.
Screw technicality’s…. We were made to break the so-called norm rules!!! If you have your own 🧠 that is! Your soul and brain.. one of the few things you can’t replace. Like you can everything else….
how many of you out there bumped into this tune by accident and played twenty damn times in a row
ANDREW CARNEY , real talk
All i can say is WOW
Because of this video I got into the rest of his stuff and I've seen him twice.
I damn sure did
I saw a video of a band playing this and that's how I found him.
My favourite Gary Clark Jr. performance!
You entertained me! Soul Man! God Love You ❤
Omg …. I’m in love!! Sings, plays guitar, and sings the blues!!! I love blues. It’s my go to music. I love playing and singing blues music , but man after listening to Gary, I think I need to learn again!! I tried to follow his fingers and couldn’t even come close to catching up!! This guy is the real deal!!! I’d buy anything he puts out!! I’ve been playing music all my life and you have to feel the blues in order to do it justice!! He just blew the top off that arena!!! WOW!!!!
I'd swim across the Alsea River....and walk in the rain...to hear you sing about your train....This old lady loves your blues! I hope your most amazing dreams come true.

I love your vibe chic! I'll skim with ya
Thank you..I think. lol
Doe that mean you're going to talk to me some more..or what?
Have y’all noticed how the rythm guitar creates this trancendental-oppressive atmosphere during the solo ? Big up to this band
Yeah you're not wrong he just adds and builds and builds......
I would love to see Eric's part tabbed for this
Yes indeed he is so awesome and seriously handsome. Garyclarkjr has the prefect musician to accompanied him.
He knows exactly what and how to play to make Garys solo sound as good as possible, it's so beautiful to watch. Same goes for the drums and bass, this guy has a great supporting cast. You can tell they have good chemistry too
It’s the flux capacitor pedal he uses.
Awesome Rocking Blues Mr. Gary Clark Jr. I am so glad I happened upon this, LOVE you guys❤❤❤
Can I just say that Johnny Radelat is an absolute beast of a drummer
BEAST
thank you for sharing his name, he s been with gary a long time
I've always said that about him. He is an amazing drummer.
Could this be one of the best live performances ever? Omg, the entire band is ridiculously good
Easy pal. It’s an amazing performance but let’s not get too carried away.. Every Hendrix performance and Santanas Soul Sacrifice are one of the best ever performances

one of the best performances of history

Utterly extraordinary performance
Thank You 🙏 ❤ Gary Clark Jr. Words can not express.✌️☝️😎💥
Has to be one of the greatest guitar solos ever. The look on his face as he played
You know he's a great blues musician when he has a song about trains
This is what music has been missing for years. “REAL TALENT” it doesn’t matter if it’s perfect. What matters most is that you make the people watching feel your soul. Keep doing you Mr. Gary Clark Jr. for the world and music fans like me and the 1000s of others that are fortunate enough to hear you and your band play.

Me too, so awesome
The man plays himself into a trance. Absolutely phenomenal
I remember growing up watching my extremely talented older brother play guitar, and I would stand and try to talk to him, and he would just stare right through me like I wasn't there - in the trance... :)
Mr. Clark gives an excellent lesson in musicianship and playing lead rock guitar... it's not how many notes, it's how deep and intense notes are.
the feeling that goes with the playing, in this case not much singing; but you can see it in his face.
Absolutely love this and him !
I played this for a guitar master, and his response was he does a hell of a lot with just a little
The question wether or not to see this man on my birthday this year has been answered
This man is on point and a class act, that drummer needs to be mentioned as he knows how to compliment the man
And he doesn't need a 20 piece set to show off his skills. Dude is a beast laying those tight grooves
Just slamming out the deepest of grooves. Perfect for Gary and this song

Same here my friend.
Same just found out today by watching cbs Sunday morning. More people should know about him he is an incredible artist.
Met him in Downtown Austin just hanging out, a week after seeing him play at Antone’s with Doyle Bramhall. He was so cool. That was ten years ago. Now he’s the man. If you haven’t heard of them, you should check out Arc Angels. Just a suggestion. ua-cam.com/video/EVhN9pOKgCk/v-deo.html
Love how he generates the ambulance sounds right off the solo at 9:15 giving the song depth, especially since it deals heavily with depression and suicidal thoughts.
Damn never thought of that part of the guitar solo as ambulance noises that connect to the meaning of the song, really does give the song depth. Thank you for sharing :)
The ol’ tri-tones. I remember my high school band instructor explaining those as the forbidden intervals, as they rarely sound good and are supposed to be off-putting to our ears, that’s why fire and police sirens use them. This is the only time they work, in a crazy transcendent solo
Got a lot of blues these days. Don't know how I would make it without this music. Thank God. Peace and Sounds. Cj
Its ReaL
god the live version of this song is getting BETTER and BETTER every time he plays it.
I love how his bassist just looks at him at one point and you can just see the awe in his facial expression as Gary just makes that guitar cry. Love it!
Such a great song this and the way it builds . Another one of those you need your weekly dose of . Stella performance !
Just thought I'd add (what I haven't seen anybody mention here) how the camera work adds to the drama of the piece. He's a beast, get his live album. He's the man live.
I don't think I've ever seen a clip of Gary Clark playing that great. He's always written amazing tunes, and done unique covers, but damn that was probably one of the best solos I have heard out of anyone who was playing live.

That's with him comparing it to solos I have heard from other blues greats. You can hear how much the crowd impacted him when he started playing.
The 2nd hendrix absolutely brilliant
He definitely inherited his blues soul from his great Father !!!
I thought that the Gods had abandoned us, but listening to this I think that the spirit of Hendrix lives on. Congratulations to the musician for keeping our hope alive.
I told my sons he is He is Jimmie re-incacarnated ( Sorry for the spelling ) It's just great Gary Clake .
Not the next Jimi but the first Gary Clark
when I listen to musicians like Gary i know that music is still alive and some guys are still making quality sound
don't worry, music will never die
you mean that blues/rock is still alive because modern music is "quality" its just a matter of taste
Ok, it's been quite a few years since this dude started getting down! Used to sneek into Austin City Limits... with an X on his hand so he couldn't drink... backing blues men at 13...
