@@mherrick5 I’ve been listening to Gary for about 2 years now his awesome the kids need this music in there life no matter what color of your skin. Love life.👍🏻👊🏻
Seen the Doors live, Cream live, Hendrix live. I'm 64. Hands down the best live recorded jam, best videoed, best rythym, beat, vocals EVER. PERIOD. Been listening to it for 3 days straight. Getting ready to listen to it right now, AGAIN. HYPNOTIC.
This is a great example of some of the more "modern" Mississippi, juke joint blues. There are some great guys out there doing this stuff, it's super cool!!!
Saw him at Bonnaroo this year. I had no idea who he was until I saw him and I felt like I was sucka punched after the show. Completely blew me away and he's now one of my favorite musicians.
Just saw Gary at ramshead on stag ,Annapolis Md. thanks to WRNR radio 103.1 fm . private artist showcase .Everyone keep your ears out for Gary Clark Jr. truly amazing
you know Howling Wolf sent Hubert Sumlin home and told him to throw away his pick and use his fingers. Hubert said he found his tone , etc and no looking back
Two drummers can feed off each other, playing the same thing in different ways, added subtle touches here and there, one fast, the other half time, many different sounds, too many to explain. I know for a fact, at least for me, it was always fun as hell!
No need to digress into these comments not meant to be taken very serious. Awesome sound, performance, energy, charisma, and songwriting. That's what I say. Anything more to say?
I just recently heard of this guy and he rocks! This song is so much f'ingfun to listen too! I can't stop listening to all of his songs. Hopefully he will come to Seattle soon. Nice work Gary!
Remember going to see Eric Clapton at the Royal Albert hall back in 2007 and Gary Clark Jr opened up for him , id never heard of him before but him and his band was so good . I was fortunate to have a really good seat , i went on my own but what a really good night it was .
Love that hot fuzzy tone on that Epiphone. Great sound for a great song. I hope 2-6 people plugging in and getting after it never disappears. Passion>tech.
Man he has a hell of a good tone.I play guitar and got curious.I did some digging around and found out how he gets that awesome tone.Besides the Epiphone Casino Gary says My go-to amp is a Fender Vibro-King. I like the way that the three speakers kind of break up at low volumes. As far as effects go, I’ve got a Fulltone Octafuzz, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Malekko Delay, Analogman Delay, and a Crybaby Wah. That’s about it. Nothing too crazy.Last time I looked a Fender Vibro-King was about 5,000
I did see him opening for Lenny Kravitz at the Luca Summer Festival in Italy Needless to say that this was one of the best show's in my whole live !!!!!
This is my theme song right now !! Just ended an 18 year marriage. Got out with a bag of clothes, one dog, 45 dollars in my pocket, and my damn freedom!! Ain't got no money, ain't got no car, but I don't owe him a thang!!!😂
@@willcormier8485 you mean "he". He got the car, the house and everything in it. But a year later, I'm happy and he isn't !! And I bounced back just fine !😆😆
what are you implying exactly? the epiphone casino is one of the most popular guitars used throughout history from some of the most notable musicians, also I have it and it's fucking bad ass
+71hammyman All of my guitars are Epiphones. But we both know the brand as it is now isn't the same as it was historically. Epis aren't manufactured in the US anymore, for example. The materials and components aren't of the same level as the guitars produced by its parent company, for another. However, my point was simply that, as a fan of Epis, it's nice to see talent like this playing one.
I first heard this song on pandora and I thought it was The Black Keys playing it. He sounds very Dan Aurbachesque in this song. Glad i found this band
Lizmarh Maldonado I love the black keys' older stuff but I don't think Auerbach could keep up with him. That finger picking sounds like it's beyond Auerbach's talent
This guy can PLAY. If you can't get into this you can't get into anything! Saw all the best live jamming groups live years ago, Doors, Cream, Hendrix. Ranks right up with them.
Mr. Clark, my friend I saw you on a tv station not more than 30 seconds and I was hooked. Sweet blues with a crisp Hendrix,. You struck that blue cord in my soul, my heart, and got my feet to runnin to write you name down fast. You are a breathe of fresh air with that full of soul, passion, crispy but still sweetly jammin style got this seasoned body to start jammin, tappin feet, got me to dancing w/ a happy smile. Its Thanksgiving and you provided me that sweetness jammin instead of eating
Eeh, I hesitate to compare him to Hendrix just because they both black and rock a dirty guitar. Gary Clark is definitely more blues than Hendrix. Hendrix did blues plenty too of course, but GCJ has more of a focus on it. Now if GCJ did Red House, I would cum...
Yes he is more blues then Hendrix but when I hear him it makes me think of Jimmy. Maybe it's the type of distortion he uses and the way he plays solo idk. I guess everyone has a different reason why he reminds them of Hendrix but for me it's not because he is black. Either way GCJ is a amazing artist/musician😃!

Blues isnt just a genre, it's a feeling from deep within.

True that!!!

This is a great song.
all that without even a guitar pick. amazing. This is the dirtiest, grittiest song he has. Makes me tap my foot every time
+Con Artist Yeah but you seen the size of his plucking thumb!
Whoa, no pick?
you know Howling Wolf sent Hubert Sumlin home and told him to throw away his pick and use his fingers. Hubert said he found his tone , etc and no looking back
Dirty Water "no pick" you mean like Jeff Beck? Mark Knopfler?
reading this and realizing I'm heavily tapping my foot aswell
This was when we first heard Gary Clark Jr back in 2010, what a performance. Showing the older guys how to bring something fresh to blues, soul & rnb
I told my girlfriend that this song expressed my sentiments and I played it for her. It didn't go over too well.
