front coil spring snapped on my E46. I had to jack the back up and put an axle stand back there so I could jack the front up. Car was literally slammed on the floor.
My 2006 e87 120d had the same issue the coil springs broke bang in the middle Unfortunately because the spring tapers (is wider in the middle than the ends) the spring slips over the spring seat and slides down the shock absorber normally damaging a brake line, abs sensor and tyre If these happens the cars normally impossible to drive as the whole wheel rubs on the liners at any steering angle even with my tiny 16inch rims Hope this helps
Normally if the spring breaks you will notice little difference! Yes it is dangerous because it can rip the tyre….. but on several occasions I have witnessed a broken spring going unnoticed until the next MOT…. So probably corrosion will have caused the bottom seat to give in…
When I was 20 I replaced a cam belt ,I lost a washer spent hours looking .i gave up looking ,my car just stop 2 months later …i found the washer all chewed inside timing covers 😭😭
With your nuts and bolts experience I'm sure you could bolt a few parts onto the bmw . I was out driving today and see a Subaru estate like yours and thought of you and looking forward to seeing you driving yours soon
Why don’t you do a video of the car show. When BMW’s were shipped to Australia. Some had solid rubber blocks on the struts. To hold them solidly. You could even use wood. Cut a couple of c section blocks. Place them on the strut and you should be able to drive it home.

Road springs snapping is so common with the shocking state of the roads and speed humps that should appear on OS maps. Chin up Isaac it’s not a bad job to do. 👍
IS F***ED Did Lee write that? Got a BMW 5. 75k on the clock. Left hand rear spring has snapped twice, and you get to replace them in ££pairs££. Lucky you didn't get a puncture. Luckier you didn't get a puncture at 70mph. Nice pillows.

They do say, regarding suspension, what you do one side you do the other. That way, suspension wears equally. Keep smiling Issac.

Only one spring 😮..... You were lucky, iv broken 5 springs in the last 12 months 😠 lots of pot holes in Yorkshire

Is your your Subaru a correlation issue due to skiming everything an altering timing?
This is a common issue depending on how much its been shaved....MAY have to use an adjustable gear on the right side
