My 12th birthday party was the best. Invited over 15 kids from my school that I figured would want to play halo, had them get me xbox controllers for my bday, told them to bring copies of Halo 2 if they had them, and moved all the TVs in the house to one room. So I went to their house and demanded to speak to their mum. I said he's stolen my gold can I come in and see if it's here his mum obliged and then managed to force it out her son that Rob has it. So I went to Robs and pleaded my case with his mum this time she asked him to if he knew anything but I heard the music from his Gameboy I said he's playing my gold! We took the cart out and she said how do I know it's yours I said to her flip it over. There clear as day my initials that I'd scratched into the silver foil on the back(and all my other games). I got my gold back. Hope you enjoyed my story 😌😁.
I have a reverse "name on game saving the day" story. When I was in my early teens I lent one of my PS2 games to my younger cousin cuz I finished it, didn't love it, and was gonna trade it in anyway (this was right at the beginning of GameStop trade-ins). A couple weeks later I went back to claim my game and found that my uncle, in permanent marker, had written my name on the box cover so that everyone knew it was mine. So I was stuck with a game I never played again instead of getting $10 towards a different one. lol
The name ‘Robs’ definitely goes with that little thief. Glad you got the game back, it was quite expensive at that time & that cheeky mugger had the time to nick it from you. I would’ve knocked him flat in front of hi mother.
Another interesting fact about Gold and Silver is that Lance's Aerodactyl knew the move Rock Slide which Aerodactyl couldn't learn in Gen 2. It's also interesting to note that somehow Lance acquired 3 Dragonites all before level 55 which is impossible.

Gold Silver and Crystal will always remain my favorite pokemon games. They were the first games I really knew what I was doing as a child when I played them, and the sprites and music are just some of the best.
It really amazes me how much depth and cool features they were able to cram into a Game Boy Color game. Also, interestingly, a lot of the localization changes were reverted in HGSS: Phanpy and Teddiursa are back in their original versions, and the fisherman has his Magikarp back instead of Seaking

Pokemon Gold was by far my favorite. I remember thinking the game would be basically over right after the league the entire after story was a surprise, so much so I called my cousin at 3 AM telling him I had something like 13-14 badges (Collecting the kanto badges was fast, I got most of them that night) and he refused to believe me so I showed him the next day :3 He and I helped each other out I remember I had to trade him my strongest pokemon (I think it was Feraligatr) to beat Clair. It's interesting that he actually is way better at the game than I am because he focuses on training where I always brute forced my way through but he needed my help back then ^_^; Great Nostalgia
1:42 - To add on to your fact: The reason why G/S were published by Daewon in South Korea was because at the time there was a ban on Japanese imports in South Korea, so some companies in South Korea would get the rights from Nintendo to publish and distribute Nintendo's products in South Korea, but they had to publish and distribute them under the Korean company's name.
If you do make one on Crystal, the biggest one is that the VC version of the game actually lets you do the GS Ball event so after almost 20 years, players outside of Japan were finally able to get their hands on a legit Gen 2 Celebi which up until then was the only Pokemon from the first two gens that was unable to be obtained unless you lived in Japan.

I just played gold and silver on a gameboy color emulator. When I was like 10 or 11 the red and blue version came out for the gameboy. I've never heard of all the other colors.
Actually, the Korean versions of Gold and Silver are based on the Western versions of the game, as it has English letters for the Credits, the English SGB borders (despite the fact that the Korean version can only be played on the GBC), and the fact that they can trade and battle with the Western versions of Gold and Silver, but not the Japanese versions (Mojibake from incompatible character sets aside, mostly on the Western end for the Hangul, but also on the Korean end for most accented characters). On the flipside, however, Game Freak made certain things look more like the Japanese versions (such as the vertically aligned Pokémon status screen), essentially meaning that what Korea got was actually a hybrid between both the Japanese and Western versions of Gold and Silver. Also of note is that they gave some of the Teru-Sama (or "?" in this case, since that's what they were called in the Korean Versions) the names of their corresponding items from Crystal, despite the fact that they are just as useless here as they've ever been in any version of these games, and the fact that they aren't compatible with Pokemon Stadium 2; the Japanese Versions don't recognise it, and while the Western Versions do recognise it, they can't load the save data from it. The reason why they probably did it this way is due to Korean import laws which tend to be biased against things coming from Japan, so it was probably easier to send the people working on these versions the English ROMs instead.
Gen 2 may have had more than a few flaws, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the hell out if it. Silver was my first Pokémon game. Gen II is probs my favourite gen and introduced some of my favourite Pokémon as well.
I used to have en-gb version of pkmn silver. In my game, after I released entei, raikou and suicune from burned tower and went straight looking for them around the town (and my pkmn were not overleveled) I was able to catch them at lvl 20 (and they did not know roar, but could still flee)! This is not featured on ROM emulators, I have not seen anyone else ever mention it and no one believes me it was the case.
I didn’t hear any facts after the sprites being different between versions because I immediately went to go and check in my games and DAMN every single sprite is different! I can’t believe I never realised!!! 🙀😱🙀
I thought Pokemania was Just Gen 1 Stateside, I remember all this merch & constant reshowings of Gen 1 Episodes yet very little of Gen 2 except for Pichu, Marill & Togepi because Gen 1 Anime, Lugia & Entei because the movies, & the Gen 2 games on store shelves. Gen 3 though revived Pokemania with it getting way more merch & cards than Gen 2 ever did. Gen 2 was the passed over phantom generation of Pokemon when I was a kid & that is what made it so cool. What are these 100 mysterious new Pokemon that are being hidden from us, you have to play the game to find out.
gold and silver is pretty much gen 1 but BETTER I EVERY WAY. IF YOU SAY NO THEN YOU HAVE NO GROUND TO STAND ON. Simple for the fact gen 1 has so many bugs that if it were released today. It would be PANNED
If you are able to do a comparison about the American and Japanese copies of Crystal, the Japanese copy doesn't give you the Daycare egg which would contain Elekid, Magby or Smoochum. I'm at the Goldenrod City Gym at the moment in my Japanes Copy where I must remember everything like which move is an attacking move and so forth. It may be the hardest quest in a mainline game to date but I'm gonna get an American copy whenever I get a chance to and keep the Japanese copy as a collector's item more than a game to play.
Pokemon Yellow is cool if you trade it to Gen II its holding a light ball basically a reference to the anime. Im curious what would happen if you took the berserk gene to different generations? Will it delete the item, the pokemon and the item or will it crash?
A friend borrowed me a GBC and Gold and I moved away that summer they came out and I kept it. Moved back in like October and gave it back to him. Used Cyndaquil, never got to the elite 4. The remakes came out when I wasn't playing the games. I had a gap between DP and BW. Bought SoulSilver for like 50 dollars a few years ago... can't wait to play it eventually... Pokemon is actually evolving quite fast... take a few years off and you miss a lot. Anyways I still need to beat a gen 2 game

@@threehead99 ive since remembered it was called a BrainBoy and it was by Pelican yes. Mine was gen 1 though so for me to change pokes from gen 2 I had to trade to gen 1 edit that pokemon, evolve it (if I changed it to a different mon) then trade back
@@CreamerOfTheDairySquad mine did both. Thats how I got my surfing Pikachu for the mini game in my Pokemon Yellow cart. At least I know I wasnt fooling myself!
@@threehead99 lol thats how i got my surfing pika too for yellow and then traded to crystal is how I first learned that gen 2 also had a surfing pika overworld sprite lol
@@CreamerOfTheDairySquad never had Crystal, but Silver also had the overworld sprite. God that was an amazing device lol
I played a hack that took me forever to start. There's three ball's on the table and no prof, you can't take any of the pokemon on the table and the neighbors say prof is in the next Town over so you head out but get stopped cause you have no pokemon.
After several days of searching I found out that there's a poke Ball in prof. Trash can that contains togepi and that's how you eventually get your starter
I remember when red blue and yellow came out. I played my gameboy color for HOURS a day ! Then in 2000 when gold and silver came out, i got gold and it blew my mind. The 2nd gen was a HUGE step up from R,B and Y so alot of people now days dont understand all the hype of gen 2. The people that grew up with the games like me understand exactly why gen 2 was so hype. Its still an amazing game 23 years later and i play them religiously!
I honestly preferred to get Silver over Gold but my brother got Gold. Silver was also a bit easier to find than Gold for some reason back then...
gen 2 is my childhood..i got bootleg copy where you can switch between gold and silver anytime using the same savepoint, n you can get different pokemon exclusive that way
That sounds cool asf wth
@@nothingchannel6402 Yeah..the downside is that the translation was a bit bizarre..pokemon name in pokedex have been nickname into shorter name..pokemon just short form to pkmn..'wild pokemon' turn into 'foe pkmn'..but somehow, i manage to complete this game until mount silver..i dont know how i manage to do that with bizarre translation 😂😂😂
The reason why they probably did it this way is due to Korean import laws which tend to be biased against things coming from Japan, so it was probably easier to send the people working on these versions the English ROMs instead.
ive heard that the 2 games were programmed by a team of 4 people
Gen 2 may have had more than a few flaws, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the hell out if it.
Gold was my go to
Hoothoot in silver looks like they get caught by the police😅 i like this version
The best GBC game there is.
Ahh my first memories of Pokemon...
If your spectical about Let's go Ho-oh and Let's go Lugia remeber kanto didn't have any box art legendaries
I didn’t hear any facts after the sprites being different between versions because I immediately went to go and check in my games and DAMN every single sprite is different! I can’t believe I never realised!!! 🙀😱🙀
5:08 this has always interested me thank you! Do you know if this is still true for remakes and MD as well?
Love the vid keep em coming
Keep it up sea
I wish that Lake of Rage town stayed :(
I thought Pokemania was Just Gen 1 Stateside, I remember all this merch & constant reshowings of Gen 1 Episodes yet very little of Gen 2 except for Pichu, Marill & Togepi because Gen 1 Anime, Lugia & Entei because the movies, & the Gen 2 games on store shelves.
Pokémon blue was the first video game I ever played as a kid but my god did I put some hours into silver and then crystal when it came out
Ahhhh finally something better then gen 1
I've played pokemon since I was 8. I'm 30 now and found out yesterday you can use hm01 to cut grass. WTF
gold and silver is pretty much gen 1 but BETTER I EVERY WAY. IF YOU SAY NO THEN YOU HAVE NO GROUND TO STAND ON. Simple for the fact gen 1 has so many bugs that if it were released today. It would be PANNED
ok
Gen 2 was also designed to be more of a sequel to Gen 1 than a standalone game; hence the connection to Kanto stuff
Gen 2 will always be my favorite
If you are able to do a comparison about the American and Japanese copies of Crystal, the Japanese copy doesn't give you the Daycare egg which would contain Elekid, Magby or Smoochum. I'm at the Goldenrod City Gym at the moment in my Japanes Copy where I must remember everything like which move is an attacking move and so forth. It may be the hardest quest in a mainline game to date but I'm gonna get an American copy whenever I get a chance to and keep the Japanese copy as a collector's item more than a game to play.
I'm here before this video blows up. I'm also here to stay
Silver edition gang
Pokemon Yellow is cool if you trade it to Gen II its holding a light ball basically a reference to the anime. Im curious what would happen if you took the berserk gene to different generations? Will it delete the item, the pokemon and the item or will it crash?
I can't decide if I prefer gen 2 or 3
Really cool!!!..
Pikachu holds a light ball when traded from gen 1 to gen 2!
My favorite was the duplication glitch
A friend borrowed me a GBC and Gold and I moved away that summer they came out and I kept it. Moved back in like October and gave it back to him. Used Cyndaquil, never got to the elite 4.
The remakes came out when I wasn't playing the games. I had a gap between DP and BW. Bought SoulSilver for like 50 dollars a few years ago... can't wait to play it eventually...
Pokemon is actually evolving quite fast... take a few years off and you miss a lot. Anyways I still need to beat a gen 2 game
Question is gold and silver a continuation of red and blue or just yellow cause when you fight red at the very end he has a Pikachu on his team could it be the same Pikachu you would use in Pokémon yellow
WOO! Silver!!!!!
Very cool
Yeah my Pokemon gold plays on my gameboy pocket
good call on the nintendo info with held, knowing nintendo the would 100% come after a youtuber with 75k subs because its totaly worth nintendo's atourney attention good job nintendo insert sarcasm here
Something I'm curious of is since Red/Blue had a scrapped girl player character which i think couldn't make it due to time constraints, why was there not a girl character for Silver and Gold? Time constraints again? Or did they really want to sell Crystal by saving the female player character for that game?
6:10 all Starter Pokémon have the same base stat which is 530
Anyone Remember when you beat Whitney After She Stops spamming Rollout Good times
I used flash and her miltank kept missing thats how I won
And SWSH are catching up to Gold and Silver at 20 million
Traded pikachu from yellow to gold and it had a light ball...
some pokemon will have items when you do that
@@PaPaSea honestly it's funny because I didn't think light ball was that old
GSC cianwood/ekruteak best
Ah the game where Tentaquil didn't make the cut. Beta Politoed for those who don't know.
I’m Dead- Gold/Jimmy in the anime/Ethan/and in the creepypasta Lost Silver
I gotta find my gold n silver games
Currently playing fire red
Same here! I just started a Bulbasaur playthrough.
You forgot the Spaceworld demo that covered all of Japan and had different starters
That's a bit different since I don't typically talk about beta or prerelease things
Imma follow ur twitch and join your Discord server cus why not
I crashed my gen 1 game with Gengar that learned a new move with trade
There are so many videos about the beta, i dont see you getting removed for it.
at the time it was more of a touchy subject where people thought there videos could get taken down but not anymore
Yeah
I had no idea of these secret info
Bring back soul silver and heart gold for the switch. We want it with pearl and diamond
I have come from the future and it's says HeartGold and Soul Silver won't be re released on Switch But Diamond and Pearl are getting Remakes
Idky seeing this vid reminds me I'm 30 and I'm 2000 I remember begging my parents for silver. I no longer have any of my old poke'paraphenaila
Noice
I knew all of them
I use a emulater and I put a mewtwo cheat in an it always holds a bezerk gene
I have a weird question but do you play nba 2k?
Yes, I even made videos on it back in 2015
PaPaSea what’s your favorite team?
Gtripp’s Channel Knicks
PaPaSea nice
Didn't everyone get silver
Crystal is better 🙄🙂
It outsold gold a little bit but it was still close
@@PaPaSea Yes i agree there is always that one pokemon game that is slightly better then the one its sold with for example pokemon black and white pokemon white was better
I remember me and my step brother both had Gold Version. He'd later get Silver too while I ended up getting Crystal for Christmas the year it came out.
I have Gold
7:20 *Nintend
Not sure if it’s just me, but your commentary was hard to follow at times. I would get distracted by your gameplay when you were explaining a topic, and then have to rewind to hear what you said about something completely different than what I was watching. Like I said, though, it could just be me lol.
I bought Crystal because I finally got to play as a girl
Silver sprites were better
Blue isn’t called Green anywhere btw
In Japan he is Green but in English they call him Blue
@@PaPaSea no, he isn’t 😂. He is called Blue everywhere.
@@Lakersdude7 No, I am right. You can easily look it up and see he is Green in Japan and Blue outside Japan
@@PaPaSea you are correct I got myself mixed up I apologize
Gen 2 was supposed to be the last. Which is the reason why every gen after has gotten progressively worse. Sword and Shield? You can't even catch them all! WTF! It's literally the slogan!
But gen 1 and 2 are the worst games in the series aside from sword and shield. Both games are a broken mess we ignored because we were 5-10 years old and didnt know any better.
@@Bug_Berry pokemon was still a new game at that time, you can't expect them to be great games
