I actually sent my cartridge to Nintendo back then. I was so scared of losing my save, but it actually came back just a few weeks later with the shiny Zigzagoon. I'm not from the US though so I don't know if it was like that everywhere.
you thought torchic would evolve into latias as a kid....well i picked mudkip thinking it would evolve into kyogre LOL
I thought Togepi would evolve into Lugia
since when are starters on the cover
@@MyDemolation Is that a joke comment? Because the Gen 1 exists.
@@MyDemolation bruh
I started with Treecko on Emerald thinking he became Rayquaza.
If that shiny Zigzagoon is real, it’s kind of a collectors dream. Such a cool addition to any collection.
Depends who you are. A lot of hunters don’t see much value in gift shinies but if you collect mons based on their rarity then I see the value.
I got a shiny linoon
@@bewearstar9462 nice.
I think the zigzagoon was exclusive to japanese players
Easy to hack that event Zigzagoon in now.
You only got the Shiny Zigzagoon at locations that ran the event which also berry patched your game as a bonus.
Cute Whitney pfp
Well you just crushed my dream
OH SHIT I REMEMBER THAT BOOKMARK!!! You unlocked a memory that has been long locked away in the depth of my memory
I'm not sure if you got the shiny Zigzagoon if you patched your game through another game, but I can confirm that you would get a shiny Zigzagoon if you sent your copy to Nintendo to fix it, because I was one of the 3 people who actually did that as a kid, haha. I heard other people say they got a Jirachi tho so I felt a bit scammed, but the process was basically: email Nintendo about it, send the cartridge in a letter or package, wait a bit, get the patched cartridge back.
Yes, I got a Jirachi when I mailed my cartridge in!
I had no idea my Ruby file could be fixed by a patch from LeafGreen when I was young. I was so upset that my Ruby file, topping 600 hours, just stopped moving the clock forward, without any mention of an internal battery dying. I found out long after the fact there was this little function and it made a lot more sense what happened.
I remember seeing that alien every time I would try sprite editing, was always curious but never bothered to look into it more. Just assumed it was some kind of super secret event. Even more so than Faraway or Birth Island.
3:38 They stated that they were toying with extra move slots and party slots, but decided not to because it didn't actually make the game "more fun". They thought it would just be a pointless change. I believe they considered it again during DP development.
And yet this is the same company who thought Z-Moves were a good idea.
@@Penguindude1 which are...totally optional?
@@Mqstodon Just like Dynamax
@@Penguindude1 z moves were awesome.
5:37 the gen 4 beta version used gen 3 character sprites for testing, since the gen 4 characters weren't ready yet. That's how you find Steven Stone as a team Galactic grunt.
A friend of mine actually sent her cartridge in to nintendo and she even showed me the zigzagoon. For some reason I didn't realise it was a shiny and I was too lazy to figure out how to send my game in/ talk to my parents about it just for a zigzagoon.
I remember crying and turning off my game when I ran into a shiny ditto in emerald because I thought my game was broken.
Also remember all my pokemon having pokerus before I even knew what it was.
I'm surprised that in yesterday's poll about which game you thought today's video was on that Ruby and Sapphire got so few votes. Ruby and Sapphire have been the games I've made the most videos about this year
I'm glad I guessed it right. 😁
PaPaSea: You can patch R/S with the gen 3 gamecube games
Pokémon Colosseum Bonus Disc: Am I a joke to you?
Seeing that bookmark hit me like a nostalgia train
Considering I was a few years older than most Pokémon players at the time of these games, I actually got to do quite a few of these events! I have an e-Reader and several of the event battle cards, the Eon Ticket from Nintendo Power, and I do have that Shiny Zigzagoon, it was distributed at some Game Stops near where I live, still in my Ruby save file from when I got the berry patch
"You get a shiny Zigzagoon for patching your game"
*Grabs GBA at light speed*
They basically gave you more move slots in the most recent Pokémon games by no longer requiring HMs
An additional fun fact, but for emerald, is how in emerald, there is an npc in the battle frontier that is a 4th in game trade where you trade a skitty for a meowth.
Can't believe it was gen 3 they abandoned the gotta catch em all tagline. I'm still gonna do it game freak!
I have both of those coins saved in an old drawer of mine and had no clue where they were from.
Waiting for that one guy in the comments who's gonna talk about their experience sending their cartridge to Nintendo
someone just did a few hours ago
I actually completed my pokedex on ruby and sapphire. Let me tell you it was a freaking grind.
I did the Berry update just now!
You don't get the Zigzagoon if you do it with the normal method sadly
According to Bulbapedia, the Zigzagoon is what actually patched the game for the berry clock glitch. You could go to gamestop and they would trade you the zigzagoon with a link cable. Apparently they did this until 2007 lol.
I had no clue those coins even existed. I may have to look into getting them for myself.
Lots of nostalgia for gen 3. Fire red was the first pokemon game i have ever played.
I didn't send my cartridges in, but I brought one copy of Sapphire and two Rubies to the Nintendo HQ of Canada which happens to be local to me. I also got my 3DS replaced there after the screen got lines from closing.
I actually found my copy of sapphire in a dollar store shortly before emerald came out for $10
I still have both my Ruby and Sapphire coins, but they're scratched to heaven and probably worthless.
I've remember having 20 e-reader cards I have no idea what to do with them and just throw them out, to this day I regret doing that
my cousin and i grew with this pokemon games, I've the Ruby version and one of my cousin have leafgreen and evermlad, also my youngest cousin have Shaphire. once I defeat the elite team, I start playing Shaphire so i could have one o each start pokemon i did a couple times so my cousin can also have all the start pokemon.
I have a living dex in my copy of Pokemon Sapphire. I've been doing my best to get every pokemon as legitemently as possible, even going as far as to buy the japanese exclusive celebi bonus disc for Pokemon Colosseum. Only pokemon I cant seem to get through honest means are Mew and Deoxys, since with Glitzer Popping, can't be traded between games.
Mew is one of the few legit event only Pokemon I have from gen 3. I remember waiting in line for almost 2 hours at a Toys R Us to get it
@@PaPaSea You're one of the luckier ones then. I wasn't old enough to know about events and trying to get a code for the ticket now is a hefty price.
Heck yes, more Ruby and Sapphire content!
My Biggest fail in pokemon emerald is i thought that treecko would evolve into brelloom
Wait so you're telling me that with my Pokemon Emerald game (that's battery has run dry and time events don't work in), my Pokemon Colosseum game, and my link cable I recently bought, I can still patch my Emerald game? And get a Shiny Zigzagoon?!?
I don't know if it works with Emerald but I know it does with Ruby and Sapphire
Emerald fixed the berry glitch
Critics: 7.8 Too much water
Conclusion: Critics are team magma grunts
DUDE! I had that same bookmark!
The in-game trades are for contest
I just found your channel and i'm loving all your vids! d
I remember that bookmark. Ah nostalgia. Lol
And they’re the only two mainline Pokémon games I don’t own
I would love more videos like this, reminds me of PikaspreyYellow.
Just curious, did his pokemon content videos inspire you to do these types of videos?
Technically the game boy color is considered a different console, and Crystal, like a lot of gbc games, is incompatible with the original game boy (unlike gold and silver) but it did move from 8 to 32 bit. (Though it was 16 bit graphics but the processor was indeed 32 bit)
you activated my Liquid Ooze
I grew up with ruby and 2 this day is the only Pokémon game I have played and still believe it’s the best Pokémon game
I’m actually super surprised preordering through Nintendo Power like I did didn’t get you the coin. Knowing this just about 20 years later, I wonder why this is
I got the kyogre coin.
I wanna see you play Pokemon Insurgence.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Eon Ticket when talking about the eReader.
Is it possible to patch a game of RS through E/FRLF with two gameboys in 2022? I have a childhood copy of Sapphire with a dead battery so time based events don’t work :(
Honestly the only thing in this video that I did not know was the coins. Everything else I've heard before. lol
That bookmark was everywhere at school. Simpler times lol
A wild pokemon youtuber appered!
I thought my Clamperl will evolve while holding deepseetooth/scale if i left it at the PC Box. I watched an Anime Episode of it lol. Same with Kadabra, Seadra I don’t know ways of Evolution before in Games lol My dreamy wish @RSE before is Feebas and Kingdra lol
Hihihi thanks for the like PapaSea
There are 135 Comments in the video, which is also the number of Hoenn Pokemon
I still have my Groudon coin somewhere. It's opened so not much value but it's still cool.
My Biggest fail in pokemon emerald is i thought that treecko would evolve into brelloom i Really Love Brelloom
Just bought a gamecube with colloseum a couple days ago. I connected my ruby with it but didnt get a shiny zigzagoon :(
Technically the first time the main series games moved to a new console was Crystal with the GB color
not exactly, the gameboy color isn't a brand new console. It's just an updated version of an existing console, when the actual console upgrade would be the transition to the GBA
@@PaPaSea I guess. But if it had exclusives then that's not considered a new console?
The jirachi link also patched the berries if I recall correctly
2:05 my father went to Nintendo and did this. I remember I had sapphire instead of ruby. But I think I didn't get a shiny zigzaggoon
I had those bookmarks! no idea why I never asked for the game as a kid
Lol Kno way I remember the book mark too
Just more reasons for me to be mad at Nintendo. The bullshit aftermarket crap was so rampant. The more I look back on it the madder I get.
If your from the Benelux area of europe If you would have send it to Nintendo to fix the ingame clock you would also get a Jirachi
I love these videos
i don't recall the coins, i got a cool figuring
The most important fact is you should play emerald as it is better overall.
Yes my fav gen
This two games were so weak compared to emerald. No ditto to breed more eggs of your first starter so I couldnt negotiate any trades to get another starters without offering something really good of a egg or lv5 starter. Ditto was really expensive to get a in a trade. A cheap pokemon holding my only masterball or anything lv60+. Firered and leafgreen were more in a balanced playing field.
Just get a female starter lol. Also sapphire has the advantage of being the only one with team aqua trying to turn Mt Chimney into a second Sootopolis.
I went and got the patch at the Game Stop at my local mall - you just had to bring your GBA with the cartridge and they would patch it for you right there for free. And yes, I did get the shiny Zigzagoon, but in an unbelievably stupid move I lost it when I started a new game because I forgot about it lol
Funny I did pre order the game but I lost that coin like a week after lol.
I used to have a copy of pokemon ruby, but a "friend" sold mine. Thankfully I have the remakes plus emerald. I love these weird facts vids!

Korea didn't get them because of a rocky WW2 history.
*USA innocently whistling, avoiding eye contact with Japan while they decide which countries get the game, based on past relations*
nice vid
Hold the phone! I have that Kyogre coin! I couldn’t remember where I got it from, but now I’m even more confused about where I got it because I got Ruby...
I’m here!
which like were you though?
PaPaSea lol
Cool!!!..
Hi
hi
I wonder who'll get pinned today...
not you

This is my favorite game

"Stemming from WW2"
Wrong war.
Korea became a protectorate of Japan after the establishment of the Japan-Korea Treaty of 1905 which was part of the conclusion of the Russo-Japanese war. In 1907 Korea was deprived of the right to administer its own internal affairs, and in 1910, Korea was directly annexed by Japan.
Korea was made into a colony of Japan ruled by a governor. Koreans were made to participate in forced labor and conscripted into the Japanese military and Korea was economically exploited as part of Japan's overarching economic and political goals. There's a long list of forms of Japanese exploitation in Korea, but needless to say it was pretty horrendous.
Where WW2 comes into play is that Korea was taken from Japan after the conclusion of the war.
So the animosity is more like if a country conquered and oppressed you for 4 decades within living memory of some people.
The fact Gold and Silver got in but the GBA didn't at all *is* very strange though.
Worst gen by far.
Why?
