For clarity on the Finneon/Magikarp softlock, it's actually INCREDIBLY difficult to do by accident. Finneon can only be encountered by fishing, so at minimum you need a Good Rod to be able to be able to catch it. It's therefore possible to either grind up the Magikarp to a Gyarados with a little perserverance or more easily white out and get sent back to the Pokemon Center by fishing. In order to get softlocked, you HAVE to trade the Finneon from another game and not collect any of the fishing rods along the way.
@@ChicagoMel23 The softlock is impossible in BDSP since you don't need to keep Pokemon with HM moves on you in that game. HMs are handled through the Poketch and you summon wild Pokemon to help you
Pokemon Red/Blue has different wild battle transition depending on where you are and how powerful you are. If you're in grass and you're higher level than the wild pokemon it's two rotating transitions, if you're lower level it's a single rotating transition, in caves it's horizontal and vertical stripes, for trainers it's spirals... This is a detail I haven't seen many people know but the game actually tells you pokemon levels just before you enter battle.

@@Ok_toker69 I think you're the one who can't "heard". He literally said, word for word, "*crustaceans* and sea fossils which Carracosta is based off of." Carracosta is not based off of crustaceans, or the sea fossils of the particular section he's talking about. But you know what it is based off of? Section 567, Fossil cold-blooded vertebrates. And you wanna know something else, (which I missed until rewatching to make sure you're as wrong as I thought)? Archeops ISN'T based on 567 like he said, it's actually from 568, Fossil Aves (birds). Birds are not cold-blooded.
06:06 - The thing that is going on here, is that the Color Categorization originally didn't account for any Pokemon having alternate forms. So once they did start accounting for that, several alternate forms finally received an appropriate color designation, such as MALE Meowstic getting listed as Blue ,when previously ANY Meowstic (regardless of form) was listed as White (when only the Female form is actually white).

They are characterised by having a hard outer shell yes, but they akso have to have segmented bodies and limbs (think of shrimp with the clearly segmented tail or spider legs)☺ While a turtle has the shell, it has a backbone (actually the shell is even partlx made out of the backbone) and it has ne segmented body like that. While not the main series, there are a few neat details in the spin-off games I know about. In Pokémon Ranger you can use cut on signs. Throughout the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series, a male Cyndaquil is always listed as being "Timid" in the personality quiz. Treecko was Sassy in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team/Blue Rescue Team, however that was replaced with Quiet in subsequent games, with Riolu taking the Sassy personality in Explorers of Sky and Super Mystery Dungeon. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity and I think Super as well you can spin around your partner and they'll get dizzy and pass out.
An odd fact i learned, Yanmega, for whatever reason doesnt follow the usual pattern with its EV yield. Most pokemon give evs in their better stats, yet yanmega gives 2 atk EVs, despite Attack being its second worst stat, at 76 vs its 116 special attack. Even considering Yanmas EV yield doesnt make sense of it since Yanma gives 1 special attack. Perhaps it was mistakenly given to it or maybe originally Yanmega was planned to be a physical attacker?
Vulpix is brown because it's body is literally a brown-red color, leaning more closer to brown than red. Meanwhile, it's hair/tails is an orange color. Than it has a tan/white underbelly. As for Alakazam...well, it's "body armor" is a brown color. So, yeah. And that is why they are the colors they are. The REAL issue is how inconsistent the official artwork you see for Pokemon is. Sometimes, certain Pokemon will have more vibrant or brighter colors for them, and other times, they will have more dull or darker colors for them. Such as the Alakazam art you showed had it's "body armor" almost black. But, if you look in the games (especially the more recent ones), you'd see the "body armor" is very much a brown color and not black. Another question to ask is: What is the criteria for each individual Pokemon for determining it's color? Look at Alakazam, again, you'd notice that it is basically 50% yellow and 50% brown. So, why did they choose for it to be Brown and not Yellow? As compared to, say, Drowzee, which is also 50% brown (the lower half) and 50% yellow (the top half), but, Drowzee's color is Yellow and not Brown. Even Sandslash kinda falls into this problem.
If I remember correctly in the rubies Sapphire and emerald Safari zone if you have the acro bike you can bunny hop in place without accounting as a step meaning that you also have another method of freely encountering pokémon in the Safari zone
The turning in grass tip also works with bunny hopping in the Hoenn games! Extremely handy for the safari zone, much harder to accidentally move and up your step count lol
you get like hundreds of thousands of dollars per battle win, and it's especially easy in certain games to make money like in USUM and SWSH. why do people care this much over 200 pokedollars?
For the fact with the repels you could argue that a max repel needs to be activated less frequently. For example for every 1000 steps you need to activate 5 super repels while you would only need to activate 4 max repels which is a little more convenient. Its like in real life with tech products: the better the product, the more expensive. But for the last 10% top notch luxury tech on top you will likely pay double the price as you would have payed without the last top 10% more performance. :D
I figured out the repel pricing when i was first playing my copy of white back in the early 2010’s. I figured more people knew about it but i guess not.
Ahaha I knew about the finding Pokemon in tall grass without moving to another tile thing. I abused it so much on the Safari when I was a kiddo. Good times.
I got a Legends one for ya: you know how, if you try to release Legendary/Mythical Pokemon, you get a prompt to make sure you didn't accidentally let the Pokemon go? The same holds true for Shinies. It isn't exactly useful unless you happen to have a shiny that looks very similar to their normal colour (like Paras)
I'm Swedish and I can confirm that as a kid Snorlax's name was very funny although personally I would translate it to snot salmon rather than booger salmon
Weird, obscure library fact-- Melvil Dewey who created the Dewey decimal system was wildly antisemitic (even moreso than people were at that time) and sexually harassed women. And libraries are moving more towards the Library of Congress subject headings. I'm sure those aren't related. Source: I learned this in library school
You don't always get the most bang for your buck buying the largest quantity of something, even in the real world. I used to buy the bite-sized Almond Joys all the time, and you would think the very largest bag saves you money, but actually the middle sized bag was the cheapest per unit. But I think there's a couple things to it. For one, and I always felt like this was the idea behind the cost of the Max Repel, you are basically paying more money for the convenience of having a product that lasts longer. You need less of them, you don't have to pull a new one out as often. Now in a video game those are pretty trivial issues, but in the real world there are things to consider like needing to only store two canisters of something, instead of four. Maybe you only get through two or three of the canisters before the fourth one expires, making buying the cheaper one in greater quantity actually a WASTE of money in the end. Now, in the real world, I think there's another element which doesn't factor into the Pokemon games for obvious reasons. I think companies know that the average shopper tends to think that the larger quantity of something they buy, the less they are spending per unit of that product - and I think a lot of companies take advantage of what most people think is common knowledge, and put a higher price on the larger commodity _specifically because_ people will buy it over the smaller ones thinking they are saving money, even though they are not. So, just a word of caution to all of you frugal shoppers out there - if you are someone who mindlessly buys larger products because you think you are saving money, you should probably check to make sure that you actually are.
You should to a Pokemon playthrough as a local. You can only fight gyms with pokemon caught in neighboring routes. You can do this two ways. You can go with the pokemon as they are caught with no team limit, or you can do it team limit but you can train to a level cap.
I installed a few new parts to my computer today and sounds like my audio settings are a bit wonky now. I used this video to test my audio and watched it like 4 times in a row already, mad UA-cam gains for Papa.
3:51 Me, I’m the one who likes it. I spend hours in there just because I find it very fun. Same thing with the Musicals, I found them very addicting. 7:26 Simply colorpicking Vulpix shows that it’s brown/tan, however the color hue does change depending on the art. Although it’s still never red, it’s either tan or orange.
9:16 There is no way this is intentional as Carracosta is NOT an arthropod at all. Arthropods include all insects and arachnids as well, so there's nothing especially aquatic about them. I makes absolutely zero sense for that to be a reference. Furthermore Archeops would better be described by 568 then 567, being the first bird pokemon and all. I think that's probably just a coincidence.
I've never found the names Snorlax an Surskit funny as a kid, but I personally find Surskit hilarious nowadays. But that's because I know English words often weren't the same as the Swedish words, and a random Swedish thing wouldn't be in a English game.
The Italian translation of the games also uses the English names except for Type Null which, for some weird reason that I don't really understand, has been translated (and this is also true for the Spanish release)

Vulpix is brown because brown is actually a context-dependant shade of orange.
Also, red-brown is a thing; see auburn.
Lanturns light is literally so bright that it alone produces 2.27 x 10 to the 350th power big bangs every second.
5:06 Man really said "Have your block pathed by" lol
Man, I had no idea the lore on the Gen 5 fossils was that deep, ya blowing my mind xD
Who's hating on PokeStar Studios?! I fucking loved that part in Black 2!
3:30 Don’t have enough money for a taxi?
Hmmmmm….. Where have I seen this before?
You were talking about Repels and I was like 'you can cut down the grass!?'
3:52 Hey, I love pokestar studios. I think it was such a cool little side minigame thing.
If I remember correctly in the rubies Sapphire and emerald Safari zone if you have the acro bike you can bunny hop in place without accounting as a step meaning that you also have another method of freely encountering pokémon in the Safari zone
The main reason that vulpix is listed as brown is because it's brown
Never knew you could fight the taxi drivers in Lumiose
Swedish guy here and this is the first time I've ever heard Snorlax being called booger salmon. Never made that connection when I was a kid
The turning in grass tip also works with bunny hopping in the Hoenn games! Extremely handy for the safari zone, much harder to accidentally move and up your step count lol
Absolutely wonderful for Latias/Latios, too. Saves on repels.
PaPaSea: " I don't think anyone likes Pokestar Studios"
Me: ...I like it...
So funny you mentioned about the Repels! Legit, I have been buying only Super since HGSS, I did the math and was...this is just cheaper overall lol!
you get like hundreds of thousands of dollars per battle win, and it's especially easy in certain games to make money like in USUM and SWSH. why do people care this much over 200 pokedollars?
For the fact with the repels you could argue that a max repel needs to be activated less frequently. For example for every 1000 steps you need to activate 5 super repels while you would only need to activate 4 max repels which is a little more convenient. Its like in real life with tech products: the better the product, the more expensive. But for the last 10% top notch luxury tech on top you will likely pay double the price as you would have payed without the last top 10% more performance. :D
The bit where you don’t move a step but get an encounter happens to me all the time
7:28 my guess would be because it’s brown.
Good times.
The "spin in the same tile" I knew it JUST BECAUSE I WANTED A CHANSEY in the first and remake of the first generation xD
If encounter data was set in Pokestar studio, you could get an encounter with the turning thing. Might be a neat little thing to add into a rom hack
Um...wait...people don't like the pokèstar studio in B2/W2?!
Um...why? I absolutely love the pokèstar studio sidquest.
2:00
I actually figured this out in the middle of a playthrough
I'm Swedish and I can confirm that as a kid Snorlax's name was very funny although personally I would translate it to snot salmon rather than booger salmon
I really love these kinda videos!
These are such comfy videos! Perfect to fall asleep to 💗 Thank u for this gift
Taxi cab driver in the overworld, looks normal. Battle picture: looks like he’s gonna kick your ass and then smoke an entire packet of smokes.
Similar to the repel thing ultra balls are more than double the price of pokeballs but only have 2x the catch rate of a poke ball
Neat facts & analysis video! Thanks for uploading!
1:49 i can't freaking believe you could use cut on the grass to avoid wild pokemon....all thos years.....all those years!!!!
lol the taxi battle happened to me once. a nice surprise
5:06 my mans said “block pathed” and it put me in a state of confusion for a good 10 seconds
I loved the PokeStar Studios as a kid. I went through every movie with my event Keldeo and got the little star animation for it and everything.
I’m Swedish and I’ve noticed the Snorlax and Surskit thing forever ago, I’ve always forgot to bring it up to friends though, until now.
I was the perfect age when B2W2 came out, so I adored PokerStar studios, and nostalgia dictates that I still must
You don't always get the most bang for your buck buying the largest quantity of something, even in the real world.
Me: *Enjoyed Pokestar Studios to the point I forgot about the mainframe for a good bit…*
Pokestar Studios was super fun :c
The Archeops facts were awesome,
this dude really just said carracosta is based off of a crustacean.. turtles and crabs are pretty different my guy
I installed a few new parts to my computer today and sounds like my audio settings are a bit wonky now. I used this video to test my audio and watched it like 4 times in a row already, mad UA-cam gains for Papa.
3:51
Me, I’m the one who likes it. I spend hours in there just because I find it very fun. Same thing with the Musicals, I found them very addicting.
7:26
Simply colorpicking Vulpix shows that it’s brown/tan, however the color hue does change depending on the art.
Black and white 2 also had the series first step towards Macro themed content, which wouldn't be expanded upon til gen 8 with dynamax and gigantimax.
thanks now i will be at the center stage at the next party
They have never made an autumn pokemon card of deerling or sawsbuck!
I am swedish and i knew already about the Snorlax translation but i never noticed surskit. Very funny :)
man said "only to have your block pathed"
I've never found the names Snorlax an Surskit funny as a kid, but I personally find Surskit hilarious nowadays. But that's because I know English words often weren't the same as the Swedish words, and a random Swedish thing wouldn't be in a English game.
The Italian translation of the games also uses the English names except for Type Null which, for some weird reason that I don't really understand, has been translated (and this is also true for the Spanish release)
1:52 Just like in real life, you are not paying for the best ratio, you are paying for the convenience(?), If you have the money, it's best to have max repels
I didn't know you could cut the grass like that
I bought so many max repels in gen 5
I feel cheated
"Sour Crap" had me laughing for the entire video.
I believe Vulpix is in the brown category because it's orange and orange is (on the rgb scale) just a light brown.
So i had no clue taxies existed in luminous city.
Also im pretty sure meowstick male was changed to blue due to it being white as an error due to meowstick female being white.
Stat anomalies are always fun ninjask is one of my favorites. Didnt know about archeops tho.
Oh hey my fact made it in, love to see it :)
Banger as always king
Fun Pokemon fact. there's a mini game in Pokemon amie in Pokemon Y where you make faces at your Pokemon.
I just found it today so that's a useless Pokemon fact.
Arceus changing colors is a LotR Gandalf reference lol (nice coincidence)
I was on the Veilstone department store in Brilliant diamond using stat boosting items on my Porygon and when I went back into the mail menu the game just froze. This happened a week or so ago but hasn't occurred since!
Aw HELL NAW did you just dis PokeStar Studios!! That place has some fun puzzle battles and, combined with the Food Maniac west of Nimbasa, and EXCELLENT source of cash!
I knew the walking on the spot one, but not the rest!
6:02 or, ya know, you could use sweet scent.
