I have this keyoard. This has two choruses, one generic and a roland dimension D type. Yeah I have one of those too, only 8 voices in it for now but that`s still very good if you make or only want 1 traditional layer voice patches at a time. The only thing that let`s it down is only having 1 FX on a layer at once which is not enough for anything pad or soundscape like and so I bought and made a chain of decent stereo TC FX pedals to get around that even though they cost me about another £450
Nice video man! I have a couple of synths and workstations. Was an owner of the Andromeda A6, but never got any decent sounds out of it. So I’m convinced now, after your video, to buy a Deepmind 12.
Brilliant. Loved this. I am a bass player and vocalist. Wanting to get into some music production sound design. I have a Linnstrument 200. Seems the Module version of this would be AMAZING! Great share thanks!
The Deepmind should be a new Juno 60, but the effects are the main part that makes the sound of the Deepmind. The Juno part is only the start of the sounds.
I added the Wavestate with MIDI to the DM12, they both send and receive MIDI program changes perfectly, i.e. 1 to 64, the set list on the Wavestate. This way, I can try different sounds 1 to 64 on the DM12, just by changing the Banks.
You can get amazing sounds out of it without deep diving in. Classic Roland Juno sounds are possible without touching a single menu button. The real fun is when you start exploring the mod matrix and deeper settings. Best part is the menu system is set up in a way that it doesn't feel like you're menu diving to access those parameters. Behringer need to quit putting 100% of their time into clone synths and make something else like this because it is amazing. Maybe throw 20% of your amazing synth division into an original. They certainly have the money to do it.
Hey Jack how are you doing? Healthy and doing good? You're almost selling me the Nord Electro 6d when I gather the money haha. Awesome videos man looking forward to more lessons :D cheers
This. I was convinced something was wrong with some component of my setup because it doesn't sound at all like what I'm hearing in the video. Would you please share what, if anything you did to adjust the patch?
Makes me re-think about DM12 today! I'll buy Pro-800 soon but I'm not going to sell DM12. Unless something global and cooler will become... IDK, like Poly-Neutron with a similar UI including the same (or better) FX-block. It will be mind blowing ))

One of the best things to try with the DeepMind 12 is actually completely bypass the effects section. Nothing wrong with the effects, but they are applied a bit too heavily on many of the presets imo. When you bypass the effects, you can then really appreciate what this synth is capable of, as an analog/analogue sound source.
Not trying to gripe but what's with the high pitched whine in the vid? Is that coming from the Deepmind? It's not affected by the filter cutoff, but goes away every time the audio in the video prioritizes Jack's lav mic. I'm really tempted by the Deepmind but am a bit wary of a budget poly synth for those types of issues.
There is some ground hum on the deepmind, I find it easy to EQ out, but it certainly exists. Mike got much better when I turned off the dimming LED's on the pitch and mod wheels.
Here for both videos! Front row seats. 🍿 Wonder if that that fan noise is present on the module version. I’ll find out late June when mine arrives. Cheers.
a good way to look at this synth is like a Juno 106 on steroids...This synth is absolutely amazing....for an additional $200 for a used ipad or like me I had an old one laying around u get a giant touch screen with all parameters available to u (way nicer than any other synths integrated touch screen)
Love everything about my Deepmind 12d except...the iPad app/wireless has completely stopped working for me. I've tried everything possible to get it working again and it just will not connect. The other problem is that Behringer support is literally non-existent as far as I can tell.
I've had one for about two years now. but i have to say, i've been kind of struggling with it and only recently started to actually like it. It had a bunch of technical issues with the power supply early on (though most of them have been resolved by support by now) but the main thing is, i never really clicked with it. It has about every feature you could think of, but there are some odd things about it. Yu can't for instance overdrive the VCA, something i did not expect from an analog synth. And i've always found it so strange that with this amazing mod matrix, they didn't think to use the oscillators as modulation sources. But some things are really amazing. Just about every parameter can be a modulation destination, the envelopes are hands down the best i have ever used on any synth ever and i would completely trust it as a main touring synth, if that ever becomes a thing again. i've poured a beer into the keybed of mine during a show once, there wasn't a problem at all, i was able to finish the show and just clean it afterwards. Other than the Rev2, it's probably the best non-flagship synth you can buy right now
I'm considering buying the Deepmind 12. How much of a learning curve is there? I'm hoping to avoid a lot of deep diving in the menus. Is it easy enough to learn? I'm just getting back into synths after many years away. Not an expert by any means. Thanks for any helpful insight.
The fan is the fundamental dealbreaker, just as they are for the Moog One. It does not matter that you can turn them down - they should not be there. I can't even stand the laptop fan in the studio. but great and inspiring demo!
In the case of the DM12 you can turn it down to 0rpm, ie. completely OFF. The fan is there to keep tuning stable in challenging conditions - think hot stage lights and so on.. there is no need at all to enable it for home use
@@Wagoo Yeah I was gonna say something similar, when I got mine I researched the need for it and it turns out to be a plus point rather than a minus and just in case u need it in a hot sweaty environment to stabalise the OSCs tuning something that Analog synths traditionally suffer from and thus mine has always been off since day 2 of owning it and I have never had a problem
cant thank you enough for making this one.... its quite a steep learning curve when your a synth noob. you get a synth thinking "ill just press some buttons and cool noises will come out" but no..... its not like that, you have to do a bit of work
Funny you should ask that... We recently uploaded this video explaining why the DeepMind 12 is the perfect first synth ua-cam.com/video/NzMX0wip1JY/v-deo.html
@@jimmyrade7815 I have the deep mind desktop actually....I’m low key bumming they have the blue Marvin 2600s in stock but they’re like $200 more than the US and nobody else has them at the moment.
IMO just the effects section alone is worth the asking price. UA-cam's audio compression plays havoc with the sound, it sounds much more nuanced in person.
Dear Andertons, now you're a Behringer Super Dealer as of 2021, we would 'appreciate' if you redid a review of the Deepmind 12 where everything makes sense all of a sudden. An epiphany if you will. Greetings, (your hopefully continuing partner), Behringer. It has great possibilities though, I agree. Too bad about the free running oscillators in unison mode and the filter being a tad too bright too quickly. But especially for the money a great instrument.
The LCD screen may look crappy initially, but it's one of the most informative and logically laid out I've used.
Yes. It's very intuitive.
especially considering you dont need a good lcd to read useful info, it's a good way to help cut costs a bit

I’m getting one for Christmas now, you could buy a load of presets if you’re not a sound designer. I’m buying presets as soon as mine hits.
I’m sorry but that was a great video.
heard that robbie patch and ordered one isntantly.
it include drive on effects??
can anyone tell me what the letters after the preset patch names mean eg BC RD KA JD DG DK KA EP
They are the initials of the patch designer www.reddit.com/r/synthesizers/comments/8lesve/deepmind_12_question/dzf0g2q
+RBr = Robbie Bronnimann
First instrument reminds me of an indie game ost like Hyper Light Drifter
The price went up on these gems
I wish people would stop making videos on this synth until I get my hands on one...I only have the D6 :p
How’s the keybed?
Not great
cant thank you enough for making this one.... its quite a steep learning curve when your a synth noob. you get a synth thinking "ill just press some buttons and cool noises will come out" but no..... its not like that, you have to do a bit of work
Would this make a good first synth for someone still needing to learn the keyboard?
Funny you should ask that... We recently uploaded this video explaining why the DeepMind 12 is the perfect first synth

The currency exchange for US customers is too much for me but great videos Andertons.
You can buy it from US retailers though
@@jimmyrade7815 I have the deep mind desktop actually....I’m low key bumming they have the blue Marvin 2600s in stock but they’re like $200 more than the US and nobody else has them at the moment.
Remember that they have Vat on their price, that is removed at checkout if your in the US.
@@WithTheGrain Good call, still cheaper on Thoman by $100 but it is in stock...
IMO just the effects section alone is worth the asking price. UA-cam's audio compression plays havoc with the sound, it sounds much more nuanced in person.
I am reliably informed that subscribers to Andertons extra will shortly get full frequency audio on this channel!!!!
No zoom in on the tiny screen?
Burning question Jack.. Is Tay Tay the the videographer formerly known as The Maltese Falcon?
No.... The falcon has flown back to his home island in the sun.
