How can we do not be thankful to Behringer... I mean sincerely... They bring back pure old synth gems to us, plus with adding modern technology into them to enjoy at 100% these gems... isn’t it a dream? Be honest...
It’s not like the original brands didn’t know since DECADES AND DECADES that we all want back these old analog synthesizers!!! But they don’t do it so........
I’m a 41 yo guy, I’ve grown up with so beautiful synthesizers sounds in my ears, from legendary musics, tv shows, legendary cartoons, legendary movies... And I arrived in a moment in my life where I deeply feel the need to listen again these so iconic synths sounds and play with it... And thanks to Behringer I can do it...
THANK YOU BEHRINGER. SO MUCH.
Big salut from France 🇫🇷
Vinz🙋♂️
You can always tell when Jack genuinely likes something... great as always.
Thanks for stopping by John! We tried to add a bit more information to this video than our regular demo vids. Glad you enjoyed it.
I pulled up this video, and your comment was the first I saw. I then thought, “I don’t remember see or commenting on this video before.”
Then I realized that you don’t look anything like me. Fine name we have. I go by John Last, but Gardner’s my name.
Never was even interested in synths. I play congas and sax. But your intro into these bad boys was really convincing as you already were with your intro and demo,( the demos are the real hook) to the Casio s1 AND the FERROFISH organ emulator!!!!!!
Right?! lol It's absolutely adorable
I dunno whether I want to get a deepmind 12 or be mates with Jack
The answer is: Both.
Both ^w^
I don’t care what anyone says about Behringer or music supply shops! Jack does a great job and has fun doing it!
Ace video Jack! Your banter always brings a smile to my face, never too serious, but it comes across how much you care about your videos, and we can see the progression. Respect
Mapping the nice effects to the mod wheels, lfos, aftertouch etc can get you such amazing and subtle modulations and sounds love it
Really love the channel and your approach to reviewing stuff.
Much respect and thank you for doing this
Great review! I haven’t seen many video reviews about the deepmind12. I love what I have seen here and it moves to the top of my list. Thank you for sharing!
I have owned the DeepMind 12 for about 4 months now. I did a lot of research. I watched a lot of videos, and I have played synthesizers since Radio Shack was selling the MG-1. Of all the knowledge I have gathered, all the videos I watched - this is the most informative! And I've been playing the thing for months. It's nice to learn just how flexible and powerful this model is. I'll be getting a lot of use out of it. Thanks for showing me all of it.
Such a great review on this superb product, thanks Jack.
Thanks so much - I learnt more about the Deepmind and reasons to buy it than the 10 previous videos I watched about it - fantastic demo of it's sound capability too!
Thank you for this brillant introduction in the beautiful sounding deepmind! Good work!
What a fabulous presentation! I’ve not stopped by for a while and I am amazed at how great this video is. Tremendous stuff!!! I already have a dm12 but watched this right through!! 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
That was an enthusiastic and enjoyable demo to watch! Thank you!
One of the best video's ever made on this channel. Absolutely love it. Thanks!
Just bought one and waiting on delivery... Thanks for the great video, Jack... I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Hands down an amazing synth even at twice the price. Great video explaining its awesomeness!
I got my DM 12 as my first hardware synth and I love it! This vid definitely helps me feel like I made the right decision.
Spot on...the tactile approach to this synth is the creativeness of it...great video..💯
Jack, and Anderetons, thanks for the demo of the Deep Mind 12. I already have one and am still learning it and this was quite useful. Jack, Dude, you are the best at demoing and explain keys...thank you so much...
Thank you for the great video. You are also teaching useful ways to use it, broadening the possibilities of this machine. I purchased about 3 years ago, brand new with a sustain pedal for $700, they had a good discount at that time. I agree, it's an amazing synth with a big sound for a really reasonable amount of money
Nice, Have one for 3 years now but never used it in unison mode before. Thanks for making it a point in your list
I agree with everything you said about this synth. I find it very user friendly and inspiring to play.
I just purchased a Deepmind 6!! I needed this video to get me started!!
I knew it! Just knew it when you did the review of the UDO :-) :-) I love this synth - had the Deepmind 6 for a while but had to sell it because it was too heavy for the kind of Gigging I do. And using this only for Solos was just too much power. People will laugh or cringe, but the Reface DX is now my on-the-go-gotta-play-a-couple-of-synth-solos-every-once-in-a-while Synth. Love you guys - Cap'n, Jack, Tay, Falcon, Rabea, Danish Pete, Chappers, and all the people I'm forgetting or we never hear about who make this incredible series of videos. Hats off to you all. Thanks!
oh my, i got the goosebumps with the robbie2br + your playin... great stuff. Really consider buying the DM12.
Reason 11. Switch off room lights and start it up. It’s beautiful! bought this synth from you last year I knew nothing about them. Called you up and asked if the keyboard was any good you were adamant it was and your right. Everything I know about synths I learned from playing with this. Thank you!
At 12:29 I was like "okay let's see how good Jack's fav preset is" .. Instant tears! 😅🥲 No joke, how freakin beautiful is that sound? Taste on point there Jack 🥰
Well this video definitely made sold me. About to go pick one up today!
Great video. Just added the Deepmind 12 to my lineup. Running an MS-20 and Deepmind simultaneously. They're a mean combo.
I been trying to stay away from synth videos to control my gas, but your personality makes these worth watching. you're awesome bro, you play the hell outa these synths every time and never fail to make me smile with the funny things you say in these reviews, thanks for being you brother, I appreciate you. kinda considering getting rid of my poly D to make room for one of these.... we'll see tho might just hold off I kinda really like the polyD id get both but I just don't have room, already have too many other synths
I would like to thank you very much for this report! He was honest and insightful! Thanks!!!
Thanks for this video Jack. You've made my mind up. I've just ordered one. This is such a lovely synth. I've never used software synths. I expect you need quite a powerful computer to use those and just like you, I like the hands on feel.
Cheers bud 😜
Wonderful playing at the end. Legend.
For months I was on and off about buying a Roland Juno X..... but since seeing this synth, I'm starting to love it, not forgetting that it's a grand cheaper and sounds just as good!!
I think I'll be ordering one this week!
Dope stuff. I’m probably gonna get one after watching this video. Thanks for the breakdown Respect brotha 💪🏾🙏🏾
I have the desktop version here in my studio and, like Jack has said it is a wonderful piece of kit .The sound possibilities are almost endless perhaps having a much more expensive analogue synth may not give you the depth you have with the DeepMind .One other thing you can do with it is that you can polychain this synth to other DeepMind .
Great video, and it's not just for beginners. I'm getting this to complement my eurorack setup.
Congratulations. World is turned out. First time one of the best analog synth has been recommended as first one (and not a bad quality hard to play bad sounding pure ability one).
Amazing walkthru wow great job great demo🙏🏼
I love my Deepmind 12, great demo/video as always :)
Love the playing at the end!
Very tasty! :)
Now I have to decide if I should buy the keyboard or the rack-version. Or both...
Excellent overview and convincing reasons! Just bought my first "synth" - a Roland Juno-DS 88, but it's more of a rompler (bought it for the keybed). I'm thinking this might be one hell of a first REAL Synth.
This is an excellent synth and I totally agree Jack, it's indeed an ecellent beginners choice!
Thanks for tuning in Sebastian. It's such a great synth to get stuck into!
I absolutely love my DM12. I'm a synth veteran but I have to tell you, the Deep Mind 12 is really, really amazing. It's extremely flexible! Great video man
So cute cat! Would you recommend DM12 for ambient with modulations? or would you recommend Odyssey for this?
The DM12 was my first hardware synth. Learnt so much! It is a joy to play with, even after years!
Do you still have it
@@bombjelly5795 most certainly! It excells at basslines and atmospheric effects. Though there are many (better) alternatives at the same pricepoint nowadays.
I've watched many other synth previews that sound metallic and digital. I'm looking for my first synth and the phat sound of the Deepmind 12 alone is the best I've heard at this price point. Great job fella!
I like it,its sounds great, when you killed off the reverb though in the outro, I was like what ya doing leave it on lol....wheres the banging 909? great vid as always
Jack needs to record some tracks, I’d happily pay to hear them.
You can hear many tracks made using only DM12 on my channel.
Yo Jack, mad review. Sense of humour and knowledge? Thank you for that. I've clicked the subscribe button, Stay safe!
Great video. The first synth that I played really heavily was a Casio MT-68. The Deepmind 12 seems like it's just a tiny bit more powerful. ;)
I agree. I have a deepmind 12 and it's sounds are feckin enormous.
nice delivery for new heads Jack, so much life left in the powerful #behringer deepmind
Yup nailed it. I have had mine for a couple of years, it was my first analogue for a few decades. 12 note polyphony at this price point is incredible. Inspired by the Juno without a doubt but turbo charged by the 4 effects engines. As a beginner or someone returning to hardware analogue synths? Perfect.
Great demo! I wanted to suggest if you guys would do a video on multi effects well suited for synths. Say you have a non-stereo synth that you want to simply, in one pedal or board, or iPad, add stereo effects such as Drive/Rotory/Chorus/Phaser/Delay/Rev. Something like the Yamaha Reface CP has as effects board, something small and fully capable that we could sit on top of a keyboard. Some people suggests the Keeley DDR, which is great but that ain't stereo, and would need an extra chrous, modulation pedal. Perhaps there is an iPad range of multi effects such as the Boehringer here for the deep mind, that could take other sources. An iPad has the advantage of portability and simplicity for sitting on top of your keyboard, but lacks the physical controls. There is a lot to discuss in a video like that, hope you guys nail it!!!
I'm not gonna lie, that unison detune alone has made me officially start saving up for this.
As bizarre as it sounds, to hear Jack discuss the merits of this synth as a learning tool over and above so many other keyboards proves without doubt that the synth has very few peers as per its price point. In matter of fact, I learned a while back just how flexible and versatile theis little beast truly is.. Just scour the pages and pages of sound libraries that have been created online for this keyboard to emphasise its abilities.
Thanks Jack. You convinced me to get one
My first experience with synths were digital, back in the late 80: Roland LA synths, first the LAPC-I (internal PC sound card version of the CM32L, which in turn was the slightly extended version of the MT32) and then the D-20. I spent many hours making timbre patches with my DOS sound editor. No knobs or sliders, just a mouse and virtual knobs and sliders on my PC screen. But it was sooooo good for creating envelopes, just klicking on any part of the curve and dragging it in place.
When I first had to create envelopes on (virtual) analog synths in the late 90s, I felt a little lost and often reverted to using editor software instead of physical knobs because I needed the visual feedback of actually seeing the shape of the envelope curve.
I am totally inspired now. I've been doing synths for over 35 years, but only as rack and tabletop modules plus VSTs. I always felt the the connection to really learning to craft sounds rather than just modifying a bit or using straight outa the box presets was missing. When the keys are half a room away from where the knobs are it feels disconnected. Don't get me started on wiggling sheit on a PC screen and mouse.
my friend has a deep mind 12. I tried it out. It is super badass. Very tweakable and great sound.
Great Video!, thanks for the information!
Hard to argue with this. I LOVE my DM 12, and I've been a synthesist since the Juno106/jup8/DX7 days...
this is a very good video. very informative and entertaining
Nice one Jack. I remember getting my first polysynth. Korg Polysix brand new from, I cant remember the name of the shop, Basildon in Essex. Still got it, but it needs some lovin'. I think it needs a KiwiSix. I just got a Deepmind 12 and what an amazing synth it is. I would heartily agree with your recommendation for it to be a first time buyers synth. Behringer really knocked it out of the park with this one. I'd love to see the guys in Manchester do a poly version of the Neutron. Don't think that would be a first time purchase tho!
23:32 - absolutely MASSIVE man, you blow me away.
digital control of analog seems to be gaining the most interest by me. they sound great and you cant get lost like on a manual analog. plus you can save patches.
so i agree dm12 is a great starter poly. i think the uno synth pro will be a good match for this too.
Nice review mate really enjoy listening to your passion and jokes. Some of these reviews can be very dry so it makes all the difference. Got a follow from me!
I have one of these. I love it. It is a lot to get your had around though.....and I need to play it more.
amazing video! thank you for this valuable information.
I was sceptical about this synth because its Behringer and bla bla...
but thaks to this video I can now appreciate this solid and beautiful piece of gear, super complete
What a great Synth, for the price is beyond AMAZING!! Not only as a first Synth for professional musicians and Studios too.
If this explane not inspirate the beginner, I don't know what will. Great job Jack.
You’re the best Jack. Thanks man.
I'd LOVE to see a comparison between this and the Modal Cobalt 8X
It’s nice to see some love for the deepmind, it’s a killer synth, especially given the price
I got the DeepMind 12D, the desktop version on a Black Friday sale for just over $400.00 USD. This is the most used piece of gear in my Studio and I still cannot believe that I only picked it up for just over $400.00 USD. I would have gladly paid $700.00 or $800.00 USD for this synth out of a sale and I cannot recommend this synth highly enough! It's definitely the BEST Poly synth out there in it's price range!
I'm hoping to pickup the Deepmind 6 Keyboard one in the near future when it's "hopefully" on sale again. I totally regret not getting the DM6 when it was going for $359.00 Brand New about 2 years ago. Big Regret! But hopefully will have a chance at that price range again during the annual big sales.....Great Overview once again and great video! Thank you!
Good on ya! Presets is the number one reason for me!
Great video man. I have a lot of "old" synths. Sold a lot, kept some. Mostly digital rack synths. Had an Alesis Andromeda, but never had the guts to dive deep into it, to complex. Had a Waldorf Q, Microwave XT Rack, and others, same story. I'm a sort of preset guy. But the Deepmind, I don't have it yet, blows my mind. It is still available in the Netherlands, but should I buy it? After seeing your video I should and I will.
Great vid. Thanks Jack.
I fully agree that the Deepmind is a perfect learning synth. Been on keys and git for years and every time I tried to learn synths using software instruments I failed miserably. Got me a Deepmind 6 a few weeks ago and so far the hands-on approach is definitely the way to go for me. Also - not only for the money - it is a brilliant synth! I totally love it.
At least until the next "perfect" product.
outro jam was very nice.
Thanks Brody!
Great review! Funnily enough I've been making stuff on FL Studio for ages, but it's hard to 'fiddle on the fly' and, more importantly, I still can't play the piano!! So I got an old PSS-560 for £15 not long ago and it's so liberating to have manual controls - either going to get this or an 88-key something or other in a few months - leaning towards this at the price point though!!
Great stuff🔥👍
If compared with the Hydra Synth, best choice is...?
I'm a sucker for both 🥰
Thanks Jack for a great first choice synth for a newb. It's still my favourite Behringer synth, but I didn't have the space in my studio so I bought the DeepMind 12D from Andertons instead. Hope the Maltese Falcon is well and staying safe?
Spot on mate !! i bought this synth ..sold it ..then rebought it ...not selling again !!
the Deepmind 12 taught me everything I needed to know about the basics of synthesis, a mod matrix and the importance of the tactile element of music making.
This is why im thinking about buying one.
@@sigurdwerdammen1494 they are great. I've got a Novation Summit sat here and that hasn't taken away the musical space that the deepmind occupies. Definitely an investment in your studio, they will hold their own against much more expensive gear.
@@squoblat Is my first time buying a synt, and i cant stop thinking about the Access Virus TI 2, but it comes with a price. So for now, im looking at Korg Minilogue XD and the DeepMind 12. I like psychedelic music.
@@sigurdwerdammen1494 I still have a virus on my shopping list. I would urge you to consider the deepmind 6 if you can't quite stretch to a 12.
@@sigurdwerdammen1494 I also have a love for psychedelic music, the deepmind and summit are two I've not stopped using since I bought them. A half decent mono synth is something that plays well with the deepmind, the Behringer model D is a very, very good companion to a dm12
This is my one and only synth currently. It's quite nice. One thing that may throw some folks, if you are doing your own patches, is that the output seems very low. And it will be usually. You typically need to use the F/X stuff to drive the output higher.
I noticed that a lot. But on some presets if you move the mod wheel it will open the sound up
Really useful video - has persuaded me to acquire one! And it will be first proper synth….
Number 1 Reason - Outer Rim Job Preset!
Keep Rocking JDux- Cheers!
Great demo jack, your fun to watch,I said some mean things when I first saw you couple or 3 years ago,I was wrong, your one of the most entertaining people to watch on YT.
Glad you have returned to us Robert! We appreciate the comments and will continue to make entertaining content for you in the future!
@@AndertonsKeyboardDept you got it jack, looking forward to more, let’s hear some piano playing, your pretty good.👍👍
Great video and thank you.
After a very long time without synths I've started again last year. And my first choice was the Behringer DeepMind12. A really amazing synth when compared to the last synth I sold years ago (it was a Roland JP8000). What I like a lot is the excellent universe of sounds the DM12 offers and the quality. Some little dislike for the factory sound presets ... some are pretty weird but after "upgrading" the DM12 with the fantastic patches of GEOSynths the DM12 is the core of my setup.
And you have always to keep in mind what exciting synth you get for such less money. 5 thumbs up for your recommendation.
I've played synths for something like 30 years on and off and right now my DM12 is one of my favourites in my current lineup. Look at the GEOsynth patches they are very well designed, full of movement and to my ears they push the boundries for the synth.. they are awesome and well worth the money! (I'm not affiliated, just love the patches).
I've already bought the synth, but I want to buy it again after watching this video!
Already have a pair of 12D's but just wanted to see Jack geek out with it.. :D
Great as always. Any idea where to get / purchase that Robbie2 RBr patch?
Maybe the Falcon can fly one over to the states for me 🤔😂.. 🙏🏾🙏🏾 Thanks for renewing my interest in this synth!
He's called Captain America now 😌
Jack you scallywag. This has just pushed me over the edge to buying a Deepmind 6 (kinda the same as the 12 right). Your enthusiasm for the same things that get me excited about a synth did it. Got a bargain 2nd had off the bay. Looking forward to playing with it. Thanks for the videos on this synth
Dabbled in the past, looking to grab somthing just to jam on. I use music to decopress, this seems like a genuine choice for someone like myself. Great video, thank you 👍
I learned on a korg volca keys, got frustrated, sold it & bought a behringer model d. Since getting to grips with mono, I can confirm reason #1 to be correct. I'm desperate to start making pads and playing chords so you've effectively sold this to me once I've paid off the model d!
Jack,
I love your humor and wit, which is implemented into most all of your presentations, and furthermore,
1) Your personal enthusiasm,
2) Great "ad hoc" keyboard flexibility, and
3) Excellently wide bandwidth of musical skills, for multiple genres, playing techniques, & etc.
All of that said, I think your 1st goal here is not for me, or for others, but to sell Behringer 12, rather than to help anyone choose their "1st Synth". I don't fault you for that aspect, except
I prefer articulation over ambiguity, so "to me", your title should "denote" the fact that the synthesizer here being focused on is
1) Analog (that should reflect in title) and
2) Having a 12 note polyphony.
Your 1st trajectory & goal here is (imo) not helping aspiring "new to synth" keyboardists, but rather, "sell Behringer", & specifically this model. 😉
I "get it" sales people are just that, but, ... from a "presentation" standpoint, accurate portrayal, categorically is nice also.
Suggestion, first describe the general "who" this model would be for,
then "the why-so", from an "end-user", pivoting perspective, instead of "Gee, I need to sell this product" perspective ... in the first place, then "Drill Down", from there. Mountains and hills start at their base, not their half-way mark.
I risk "sounding overly critical", only because I know you are extremely versatile, resilient, and Effective already, thus, I expect more, in your selling psychology and marketing transparency, ...
"as a person", versus "product push", if that makes sense. i.e.
"Parameters" such as "who" is your audience, what are their short range goals, what "might be" their long range goals, etc. If I'm "missing" something obvious, then excuse me, but in reading titles, that is what comes to my mind. while reviewing.
I bought mine when it was first released. No regrets, even as I watched the prices drop. It's a great synth.
