You're a couple of years younger than me, but it was a lot of fun hearing about someone else's experience (as a kid) with Indiana Jones and these sets during that time. 2008-2009 is an extremely nostalgic time for me as a child, the amount of content in both media and merchandise we got from so many different IP's during that time is unmatched. I have very fond memories of playing with these sets in particular and even when I got each one, so this was such a trip down memory lane for me. It also makes me happy to see another KOTCS fan, I honestly don't see many out there, but when I do; they're usually around our age. Your video was was delightful and entertaining, you covered everything perfectly and I love your positivity. Keep it up, dude! This was my childhood. I had the Motorcycle Chase, Temple of the Crystal Skull, The Lost Tomb, Jungle Duel, and River Chase. The Lost Tomb was the first LEGO set I put together by myself. Sadly, never got the Crystal Skull Temple all the way put together. I always wanted the Jungle Cutter and the Truck Chase sets, but it just never happened. Still super nostalgic for me to this day.
Man I remember being 10 and wanting these sets so bad. I got the tent set, river boat, and motorcycle chase. My parents couldnt really afford much else. Now that im grown up with a real job I am seriously considering grabbing the 2023 Idol Temple set. One of my coworkers actually has it in his cubicle in the office and it looks fantastic. It'll probably be my next lego purchase along side the mona lisa when it releases.
One of my favorite under-appreciated details in both the temple builds is the baby dinosaur piece being used as a statue, it even looks like a face when hung upside down!

I had the full first wave of sets growing up and I have some really great memories playing with these. I remember when I got and built each of these sets. Fantastic memories. I got all the new sets this past year and was really looking forward to the temple of doom set since I missed out on the one when I was a kid.
I just realised how wild it is that Lego has an explicit CCCP reference in River Chase. I had always remembered it as a sort of similar deal to the Nazis where they were just nondescript soldiers. Also, damn, Jungle Dual gives me so much nostalgia. I remember my dad getting it for me as a treat for doing well in school all year. I had the Flying Wing too, it was a Christmas gift and probably the biggest set I ever owned as a kid.
I remember getting the Truck Chase set when it came out. Had to be one of my most memorable sets at the time. That next to mars mission was such a good series. So recently, I got a wave of Nostalgia from the former Indiana Jones sets I owned so I purchased 2/3 New IJ sets of the new wave. Really hope Lego Steps it up and continues to make more.

You make very good points but I have to disagree with you on the the Peril in Peru set, its not just any old city plane, its a plane from the era of KOTCS which Im pretty sure lego city have never done. Also that plane was meant to be a freight plane if im not mistaken and those two crate side builds are meant to go inside the plane instead of seats 😊

This was also the first set to have 6x12 plates in "sand yellow", a color which had been somewhat infrequent over the prior six years since its introduction as part of a "Drome Racers" set (4588) from September 2002. The 1x6x5 wall elements in tan within the tomb first appeared as part of "Mrs. Puff's Boating School" (4982) from Spongebob in August 2007, but the Well of Souls was my first time getting them. For most of the first half of that Spring, those two were the only Indiana Jones sets I had, until the first "Crystal Skull" wave (7624-7627) was released at the season's midpoint in early May. To this day, many parts comprising the truck carrying the treasure chest/Ark in the first of these (7622) remain set-exclusive as do the tan "Western caps" on the German soldiers. Similar to the previous paragraph, this set marked the first appearance of the 6x5x2 "vehicle cab base" in five years, last appearing in the old shades of gray during 2003 within two sets (7414 and 7419) from the previously-mentioned "Orient Expedition" theme. As such, the truck carrying the Ark marked the first of only two sets to have this part in dark stone gray, though it would also appear in black, tan, Metru red, dark azure and lime green over the following thirteen years. Last (and only time so far) appearing in lime green as part of a DC Super Heroes set (76180) in 2021. The "Temple Escape" (7623) was the first set since the "Scorpion Palace" (7418) from 2003 to feature a pre-fabricated boulder now recolored in medium stone gray. In addition to the dark stone gray mini T-rexes as decoration, this set also marks the third and final appearance of the 4x10x6 "BURPs" in a marbled color scheme of dark stone gray and Metru green (earth green), which debuted in 2007 in two "Castle" sets (7036 and 7094). As a kid I watched the lego indiana jones animations and played the lego games of it, but I have never watched any of the films! seeing all the sets in this video makes me want to watch the whole thing. over all great video I like how its a long one, I also like the spongebob training video reference in the beginning that was cool. My favorite set has gotta be the car chase thingy mainly bc of the lego animation.

While I never owned any of the sets, the video games by TT made this Theme iconic and nostalgic for me. Also, the Doc Ock Easter Egg when showing off Satipo is a top tier reference. Brilliant, but lazy! 😂
Growing up I was lucky to get all of the Indiana jones, but unfortunately everything but the river chase car, were disassembled :( But on the plus side I still have a good selection of the minifigs
It’s so worth rebuilding them if you have the pieces. One of my favourite things to do is find pieces in my collection to rebuild old Lego Star Wars sets
The way you can tell Lego has gone downhill in the fun factor is the fact that the new well of souls set only has five snakes :( Either way, the original temple escape set is perfect. I like that the boulder is literally just one piece, meaning you can easily pull it out and use it for MOCs in comparison to the much newer one that's a complex technic build.
I also love Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull... It was actually the first Indiana Jones movie I ever watched, so it introduced me to the general style and tone of the franchise. But I have to say, I like this one better than the previous ones: for some reason it's just way more fun to watch old Harrison Ford beat up bad guys. Although something that DOES bother me is the misrepresentation of peruvian culture, my culture. We're not Mexico, y'know?
My lost tomb back in the day came with a clone wars anakin head instead of an Indiana jones head. Did this happen to anyone else or just me? I think it was this set, anyway. Maybe I’m wrong I just know this happened to an Indiana jones set of mine and it confused the hell out of me as a kid.
Yeah it happened to me and several other people I know. That was a common error in the first run of the set which thankfully got corrected fairly quickly

In defense of the “Well of the Souls” set, I think it’s a question of design vs accuracy. In this case, design wins, hands down. Even this many years later, I still remember the design of the original version of the set. The new version, while accurate and to a decent scale, is still very much just a wall attached to a platform, with a little bit of set dressing. Not very remarkable. I’ll take the original version any day.
@@JediJared-bs1wt LEGO is extremely anti making LEGO military, they can do trucks jeeps and planes because they can justify they aren’t only used for war, a tank however, is almost exclusively used for combat, therefor LEGO would never make a tank nor would they make any modern day weapons

While I never owned any of the sets, the video games by TT made this Theme iconic and nostalgic for me. Also, the Doc Ock Easter Egg when showing off Satipo is a top tier reference. Brilliant, but lazy! 😂

It’s so worth rebuilding them if you have the pieces. One of my favourite things to do is find pieces in my collection to rebuild old Lego Star Wars sets

Either way, the original temple escape set is perfect. I like that the boulder is literally just one piece, meaning you can easily pull it out and use it for MOCs in comparison to the much newer one that's a complex technic build.

I also love Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull... It was actually the first Indiana Jones movie I ever watched, so it introduced me to the general style and tone of the franchise. But I have to say, I like this one better than the previous ones: for some reason it's just way more fun to watch old Harrison Ford beat up bad guys. Although something that DOES bother me is the misrepresentation of peruvian culture, my culture. We're not Mexico, y'know?

My lost tomb back in the day came with a clone wars anakin head instead of an Indiana jones head. Did this happen to anyone else or just me? I think it was this set, anyway. Maybe I’m wrong I just know this happened to an Indiana jones set of mine and it confused the hell out of me as a kid.
Yeah it happened to me and several other people I know. That was a common error in the first run of the set which thankfully got corrected fairly quickly
Without crystal skull we would have never gotten the Lego games or sets

Great collection! I used Uncharted music because Indiana Jones music likely would have made the video taken down, but also because I LOVE uncharted, borderline love it more than Indiana Jones!

In defense of the “Well of the Souls” set, I think it’s a question of design vs accuracy. In this case, design wins, hands down. Even this many years later, I still remember the design of the original version of the set.
The new version, while accurate and to a decent scale, is still very much just a wall attached to a platform, with a little bit of set dressing. Not very remarkable. I’ll take the original version any day.

@@JediJared-bs1wt LEGO is extremely anti making LEGO military, they can do trucks jeeps and planes because they can justify they aren’t only used for war, a tank however, is almost exclusively used for combat, therefor LEGO would never make a tank nor would they make any modern day weapons
