And thus, a state that never practised slavery forces people who never owned slaves to give their money to people who never were slaves.
and usa all ready did pay by sending freed slaves to africa to freetown
It's actually so pathetic, tired of these victim mentality losers crying about how their shit life isn't their fault and we need to fix it for them.
The funniest thing is: The people who were slaves on the US probably had ancestors that had slaves in Africa.
Like here in Brazil, most of the blacks here came from normal immigration, they have no relation with slavery whatsoever and they were probably from the tribes that sold slaves, but every single black person here thinks they were slaves here.
Undocumented workers are currently slaves in California.
According to the 2022 census, there are approximately 44,000 African Americans living in San Francisco. If every single one of those people were to be given 5 million dollars, it would cost San Fransisco over 200 billion dollars to go through with this.
Don't forget to account the people who are all of a sudden going to say that their black
@@conradvallon5661 lot of them are. A lot of "Black" are only 1 or 2 generations in. Then you got the latino community who is all over the spectrum of color many of which are black. then you got African natives who only been in the country in their own generation.
its a literal mess.
Yeah it's just not feasible, it would turn Cali into a shithole overnight, they're only going to give it to the wealthy blacks, not people who are poorer
The goal is to enrich themselves in the end
"during a reparations rush, sell 40s and guns"
Bare in mind that they use "African American" for all black people. Not all black people are from africa.
I’m of Irish decent I want Britain to pay me reparations….. sigh.
Here, have a potato 🎉
We don't have money to spare but we can send you some heckin awesome migrants. I hear you guys love them as much as we do.
@@Alastorm8Actual Irish here. Please don't. My people don't know what they're doing.
congrats! your reparations are infinite migrants and infinite GDP!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Don’t forget the Italians and Scandinavians. 😂
Or you can do what Gavin Newsom did: Go through the whole process of determining a committee for reparations, praise it, survive a recall, then shut it down.
That's absolutely fucking hilarious. I didn't know he did that.
...how has California not fallen over?
@@DragonMaster360 it's full of people who wouldn't know they were wet if you pissed on their heads.
4:29 one really cool study found that literally no progress strat worked on improving education. The only thing that worked was separating students into groups of intelligence. This let the better students excel harder, and those lagging behind to catch up quickly
When you have a culture that criticizes education and bullies kids that strive or do well all the amount of money won't do squat. If the kids don't want to learn all the bells and whistles won't matter.
Oh I need to see this one
This is another case of equity policies being bigotry of low expectations. Throwing money at people creates a direct incentive for said people to not produce goods and services as workers. The long-term consequences will be the exact opposite of equality of outcomes they expect to achieve with this policy.
This is a big part of why most poor americans, regardless of race, remain in poverty with fatherless homes. The government rewards people who are poor and fatherless, and therefore they rely on the government rather than themselves. They simply respond to short term incentives and screw themselves in the long run.
Not that it is their fault, the cycle of poverty is a bitch, but the government is the one that perpetuates it in the guise of helping and being "anti-racist" when in reality it's one of the more reasonable arguments for systemic racism along with classism.
they just want to exterminate white people they dont care
Cobra effect in full effect.
nothing wrong with bigotry, they just hate white people
Broken/weak people are easiest to manipulate.
$5 million, hey they won't have to worry about rent for 2-3 years!
Look at people who win the lottery then are broke in a couple years. I guarantee the vast majority of reparations winners will be broke because of bad spending habits.
*2-3 days
Oh that money would be gone in a month.
The G35's and mustangs at takeovers would just turn in to ferraris and mclarens, its not going to rent.
Oh watch what we do with it we gone switch the power dynamics
Difference is that reparations for the Japanese were paid out only to immediate effected families that were around in that camping time period.

Pretty much …

@@bushy9780 No where near enough melanin for anyone to care about the Irish.
This reparations stuff in CA is all just talk. No level of government in CA has that kind of money. If they actually go through with it it'll be like class action suits, where the people setting it up get paid and everyone else gets, like, $1.50.
Oh yeah they try to do this in the state of Illinois and they were told no.

The SURVIVING Japanese were given reparations of 20k and an apology from Reagan in the late 80s. This was taught in school. If any group is deserving of reparations, it would be those that were born before the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s and still LIVING.
Since then all minorities have had 100% the same rights and liberties we all enjoy.
No, no one gets anything.
You don't deserve a reward, for being a historical loser.
No, no one should get anything.
You shouldn't be rewarded for ending up on the loosing side of history.
@@arsenelupin9697The Japanese given reparations in the 80s weren’t on the losing side of the war. They were American citizens unconstitutionally imprisoned by Executive Order 9066 in internment camps simply because they were Japanese.
@@DAFORCEFilmsSomething is only unconstitutional if the supreme court decides it is, for decades it wasn’t until it was. The constitution is just a suggestion.
@@arsenelupin9697Right outcome, but wrong logic. Nobody should get reparations, but nobody should get them because it's not the proper role of government to redistribute wealth(aka steal) according to what we fancy as justice.
True justice would be dismantling the organizations that have grown powerful enough to demolish the rights of Americans without recourse except through further central planning.

Giving people more money rarely ever fixes their problems. Especially more money than they've had to budget for in the past. Sure, it'll pay their bills now, but if they can't fix the financial hole that caused the debt in the first place, they're just gonna find themselves back in that shitty hole, possibly more bitter than they were the first time. It's terrible, but habits and circumstance determine what kinda life you tend to lead. And if you can't change either, you tend to be screwed.
With 5 million , I'd hire a financial advisor

another could be "30 for 30" Broke (TV Episode 2012), that tells of professional athletes, of which majority go broke in less than a decade after retiring, despite getting money like 500 million dollars per person.
"According to a 2009 Sports Illustrated article, 60 percent of former NBA players are broke within five years of retirement. By the time they have been retired for two years, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress. "
I was born and raised in Commiefornia. 33 years. I got the escape route tattooed on my arm because getting out of that state in 2016 before the election was my life's great achievement to that point (I am very, VERY disabled.)

I dont see how California plans to even obtain the money to pay $5 million each, its not like they can print their own money. And if they did, the inflation would make that $5 million be worth a tiny fraction that amount. It's not just a bad policy, its literally unworkable.
They try to do this in the state of Illinois I think in the city of Chicago and then they were smart enough to say no.
The point is to destroy everything thru unworkability.
The state can't, and it won't. The article is old and I believe California and San Fran has since decided against such large amounts - reasons include the ones you just stated.
The goal is to destroy the state. Far leftists know that no one will accept Communism until things are Mad Max levels of bad. So they have to make things that bad to bring about Utopia.
in practice they wont this was just political posturing, but
in theory.. i am sure nothing would stop California from taking all the debt in the world. the name California has brand value of its own, and that opens doors to larger debt loans.
it is an interesting question: how much government and cities can take debt? whats the upper limit? is there one?
I crunched the numbers and after accounting for the stolen property, medical bills, and funeral costs of the average reparations-receiver's criminal activity they own us three hundred trillion dollars.
I'm descended from Germans and Brits. When can I expect Italy to cut me a check for the fun stuff the Romans did to my ancestors?
They already got it when they sacked Rome.
Germany even became the new Roman empire if you believe the Holy Roman Empire were the actual successors of Rome
NEVER... will we pay
italians paid their dues with italian food, now we owe them for inventing carbonara
@@Pfish1000 I suppose becoming Italian was punishment enough for the Romans 😆
11:15 the reparations paid to the Japanese went directly to the people who had their lives and lovelyhoods taken away... Not the (maybe) descendants of people, whom were never actively had the injustice inflicted upon them
the most ironic part of this nonsense; california was with the abolitionists. they never codifed slavery as a state. and for a mere year it was 'not defined either way'. they also didn't bother to really enforce slavery for those who brought slaves with them from other states/areas and had those slaves run away.
in 1850 they were admitted to the union as a free state, barring slavery.
so almost the entire time they've been a us state, bar a few months, has been against slavery.
and thats before we get into the whole 'they don't have the funds' aspect
so this is alllll so much bullshit grandstanding.
the other ironic part
We already gave the freed slaves reparations a few years after the emancipation
I was curb stomped growing up in elementary school, been pistol whipped, had a crush on Pam Grier, have an expansive catalogue and knowledge of funk and soul, and know the ten crack commandments…. So I’m an honorary black man.

The topic of slavery in our history has been the longest instance of failing to move on that I have ever seen. When will we be even? Even tribes in Africa practice slavery at some point in history.
They still do in some parts of Africa
@sharpshooterjames8891 my own Native American people did it in some tribes too, literally EVERYONE did. The US was the second country in history to abolish it XD
As a light skinned Mediterranean, can I tan and qualify ?
Pay someone for a vial of blood then pay the person that's supposed to take your blood. Boom, whitey be black and $5 million richer.

$5,000,000 USD?
Christ I wish I could get that kind of money.
It's an election year they'll forget all about it in December.
would still end up poor 5 years later
and they would still ask for more 2 years before that
Not even. If you give if you give 6% of your population over 5 million dollars since they are also paying off debts.
5 million dollars would immediately become less money as the price of local goods rises to a just for the new cost. Also black people from San Francisco would immediately become a target for other groups who feel they were wronged
The number is deliberately ridiculous. That’s a common tactic. Because of the absurdity people will argue against the obvious fact that this and its consequences are entirely impossible.
The discussion will largely ignore the fact that any reparations are entirely unjustified to begin with.
So at a later point, when they come back with a more reasonable number they take a lot of the heat off themselves.
It’s skewed logic, but it works. And there’s countless precedents for it.
So i rarely find these sorts of scenarios funny. The proposal is moronic, but the people who made it know.
They think less of you for calling them out on the ridiculousness of it.

The Japanese _were_ given reparations in the 80s. Surviving internment prisoners and immediate families received $20,000 each.
That’s the thing, though. These were the people who were actually wronged who were given this redress. Not their great-great-great grandkids.
6:00 we actually did give them reparations.
But SF doing this is nonsensical because a state that never had slaves is making its populace that jever owned slaves give money to people who never were slaves
yep, right after the civil war
Money Printer go brrrrrrrrrr....ACK!
The US government has set aside money for US native tribes based on the calculated money that was stolen from broken treaties. This is/was adjusted for inflation and given out as government aid and benefits to the indigenous tribes. It is not infinite and will run out at some point.
Imagine the local inflation.
to be fair to commiforna at least they aren't trying to secede from the union every few years like texas, or slowly becoming a part of the ocean like florida.

We’ll see if that remains the case after the election
Time to open a rims and weave shop.
Just so you know. The Japanese that was interned during WW2 in the US actually got reparations for their unjust imprisonment. It was in 1992 and the US government distributed 1.6 billion USD to everyone who was affected.
Your brain is the best
You tell 'em, Foxu!
9:26 - Giving money to people who are bad with money is essentially how we got the 2008 housing crash - banks loosened regulations, giving out bad loans, and lumped them in with good loans in mortgage-backed securities. My parents went through this having bought a house a year prior to the crash.
That said, I agree someone having debt is absolutely not the same as someone being bad with money (but for very different reasons stated by Kirsche). A lot of people well off today was able to do so by taking on loans (debt) in order to build their business and generating positive cash flow (Good Debt). We should absolutely however, avoid giving money to people who don't have a plan and blow the money (Bad Debt).
In relation to reparations - I agree 100% it's a terrible idea. It is too easily taken advantage of and will absolutely come out of the taxes of actual hard working people.
- Regards, a native Californian
Also California wasn’t a slave state. 🤷🏻♂️
24:51 exactly. The intentions of policies don’t matter the incentives do.
@12:10 -How dare you demand Jews pay reparations.....
Oh of fucking course it's sanfran.
I'm looking real hard at some shoe polish right now.
The Japanese interred in American camps were, I think, later given reparations. Also, FYI, contrary to popular belief it was not all Japanese-Americans rounded up. It was those living on the coast who refused (or could not) relocate a certain distance from the coast. Having them police themselves for spies and such would probably have been a lot more effective.
There’s an irony in the reparations proposal forgiving all debt for recipients, while the whole concept of reparations is a tax debt on citizens several-generations descended from people who most likely weren’t even slave owners in the first place.
Damn, more money than ill ever earn in my life?
This is going to lead to blackface isnt it?
The problem isn't even that they decided every black person in San Francisco deserves 5 million dollars. That's never going to happen. The problem is that many people got paid over the course of several years to write this report.
Is the legacy of slavery in the room with us right now?
You know, both sides of my Swedish great grandparents experienced harsh discrimination when they immigrated here and had to live in poverty and work in terrible conditions such as mining for remarkably low pay. Cut me in on this action too if we're trying to pay the living on behalf of the dead for shit that happened in the 19th century!
