  • Day 2 of the first time competing in a road race for the AutoXandTrack 1967 Mustang and myself. After countless autocrosses, track days and time trials we finally go wheel to wheel. Also, this is my first time every driving the Mustang on a road course. Prior to this it never survived a single outing without breaking. Can we make history in a good way? Watch and find out.
Special thanks to the companies that supported this build and make some amazing pro touring musclecar parts!

Chad, this is the best content yet. The in car sound is perfect and the wheel to wheel is really exciting. I played this last night on the garage tv while my friends were over and it was awesome.

Thanks, I love hearing this! So many times I've considered adding a TV in the garage. I should just do it.

So glad to see you getting after it again. It's something I've always wanted to try, time and budget did not allow but I do have a wanna be 66 mustang. 😀

Way to Go!!! I still like the Camaro more than the mustang but glad to see you back at a track.
    P.S. Love the T-Shirt 😂

Thanks Rob. I started reviewing my 2022 NMCA footage. I'm going to make as many videos of it as I can since that was the last year! I hope you can get something else going again. Could come up and do something on the greatest site on the West Coast... Crows Landing. :) P.S. I like that shirt too!

I recommend changing the clevis pins to a shouldered pin with a cotter pin instead of the two snap rings. I dont think youll have any more problems if you swap. If its done it once, it will do it again.

I never thought of that. I’ll have to look into it.

Ha! I’m hoping to keep this motor alive for at least the rest of this year. I’d rather not have to do a swap. But if this motor lets go…

Love your cars; you're an amazing driver. Your Mustang appears to have a rear steer rack. What spindles are you using? It doesn't look like the TCI suspension on their website. Thanks in advance!

Thanks! You are correct that the front is a little different that TCI off the shelf. Same spindles and geometry except for rear steer and more Ackerman. Ed, the owner of TCI wanted to experiment. I’m grateful for his help and support but if I had my choice I would run the off the shelf TCI cross member. It makes packaging so much easier and I’m not sure the Ackerman experiment gained much in handling or not.

I love seeing/hearing vintage mustangs on track! I’m actually thinking of buying one and tracking it too. My big concern (other than the cost) is the handling. With upgraded suspension how does it handle for you in the turns?

    • @AutoXandTrack

This car handles phenomenally! Even simple vintage bolt ons with great shocks cannot handle pretty good. Just need to do the Shelby drop, put a good spring and swaybar package and aggressive alignment for a fun car.

Love your mustang, building a 65 myself. I was wondering what rim and tire setup are you running?

I'm running the Jongbloed X10 in a 3 piece design. They are 18x11 with 315 on all for corners.

Maybe start running slicks instead of the "200tw" tires it should be a lot more appropriate in terms of wear and such, if rules and budget allows of course 😄Awesome stuff though

I do want to try a set of brand new slicks. But I'm setting that as a target once the car and myself "earn" it. I certainly can't afford to buy a new set every 1-2 race weekends. In the mean time I want to ensure I work out all the kinks in both of us so I don't end up with a set sitting around aging out because I'm rebuilding the motor or something.

people dont realize just how tiny the under dash area of these mustangs are I've done the clutch cable on mine twice and it was the worse hour of my life lol

Right!? Especially when you add in a roll bar and NASCAR door bards with a race seat in the way!
