Great to see you back! When you check the engine. See if that gray material in the oil sticks to a magnet. I spun a rod bearing that ate the crank journal 1/8 inch. The metal was like baby powder.
I couldn’t have asked for a more successful first day in terms of results and car performance. Especially everything I have gone through with this car lol
For when I'm running the Mustang or for folks to buy? When I looked into this before unless you buy 100's at a time the cost per shirt costs me more to buy than the big brands sell their shirts for shipped :/
I love your videos!! You explain and then show people exactly what it is all about to race a car at that level!!! Man I love it. Keep it up!! Good job Thank you!!
Hey Arlo, that would be cool and it would be great to catch up after so long. I hope things are well with you. If all goes well I will be at the next two VARA races. Buttonwillow 9/23-9/24 (the most fun track IMO) and then the Big Bore Bash at Willow Springs 11/11-11/12.
Great to see you back, love the road course videos! Notice you are running shorty headers, any particular reason? They typically give up a lot of power over long tubes.
No great reason I'm running the shorties. They came on the car and the custom cross member and rack make it impossible to fit an off the shelf mid or long tube. Would at a minimum have to redo 1 or possibly 2 tubes to fit long tubes. It's on the to do list down the road if the engine proves to be reliable. I'm still not 100% confident in the engine though.
That's one of the most frustrating parts about running the old school V8's hard - it seems like they never really seal well. This alone makes me want to put more modern engines in everything. Crankcase ventilation is important, but only goes so far. It seems like there should be an aftermarket head that's meant for a more modern style valve cover and gasket.
My favorite would be a aluminum block 4.125×3.300, 353ci, 950cfm Holley Ultra XP with a 8500rpm limiter as far as an experience goes, but a aluminum block 4.125x3.750, 401ci, with a 8000rpm limiter might be what it takes to win the race with some 315/30r18 and 335/30r18 tires(Nankang AR-1 For a street tire).
👍 sounds great and looks fun as heck!
It is!

Great to see you and the Mustang back on the track. Excellent results for your first race day. Look forward to more great content!

We seriously need an AutoXandTrack Mustang coupe shirt. . .. . por favor.

Big Willow is such a fun, fast, track to drive! Congrats on getting out there and mixing it up!

Thank you! I love comments like this :)
I wish I could make it out to willow. Keep bringing the content
Absolutely loved this video. Please put more up like this
I loved working on this video too! There will be another Mustang race video in 3-4 videos from now 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have always been curious as to what it takes to do vintage racing.
Such a fun fast track.
😳 LETS GOOOOOOOOO ! It's been TOO long . 🙏
It has!
Awesome to see that thing ripping around the track. Hope you get something figured out on that oil pressure issue.
Haven't yet. I'm thinking to try and change the oil pump before the next race to rule that out as a possible issue.
So cool!!! 🏁 Hopefully I can make it out sometime and get some shots of you out there!

How can such a loud car go on track or go thru tech? damn. It does sound mean as hell though 😄
ha ha ha. That's one of the beauties of running with VARA. No sound regs. I think more than half the cars are straight pipe no mufflers.
Take your radiator out and bang it on the ground a few times, and blow the fins out with compressed air.
You might need more cubes to out run that vette easily.

A well designed combination of parts would go a long ways. The current hodge podge of parts (engine and trans) just aren't ideal but still work okay.
What video camera and GPS system are you using? Mustang is ripping it up. See you at the next vara race.
GoPro Hero 7 and 8 with built in GPS. Then using Race Render to extract and create the data overlay
I know my 86 gt has a ecentric type oil pump I’m not sure if that’s common ?
What’s the big blue knob?
Wilwood brake bias adjustment knob.
@@AutoXandTrack ahh ok, that’s convenient, I didn’t realize they made a remote deal like that
