    I don't know why people argue over which car is better this which car is better that stfu they are ALL good cars. Subaru's have that signature sound and feel, I like that. Evos have incredible straight line speed and mod potential, some like that. Mazdaspeed, focus st, golf r, they ALL have pros and cons, it's about what YOU wanna spend your money on. I'd take the subaru, and that's my prerogative. if you don't like it don't get a subaru but stfu It's MY money.

      Ian Caple Hah I'm glad some people still have sense. Nowadays it seems like people are so preoccupied with "one-upping" each other they forget to appreciate their shared love of cars. People should just stick to what they like. Nobody has the right to put someone down for his $30k investment in his dream car just because it isn't the same dream car as them. It's pathetic is what it is.

    I have a Speed3 with a mild tune and basic suspension upgrades that I use for Autocross and the occasional track days. I have no problem running with Subarus and Evos in either situation. The right setup and a good driver can make the Speed3 surprisingly quick even around the bends. FWD isnt ideal but I have a had lots of guys in all kinds of cars come up to me and ask about the Speed 3 cause they didnt expect to see it on their tail or pass by them.

    I agree. I have a MS3 and I have ran stock/lightly modded STIs and beat them with bolt ons but with the big turbo( not huge GT3076) You will see races like this go both ways. Usually whoever gets out first is gonna stay out

    I am a gen 1 owner 09'
    - The rods are identical between the Gen 1, Gen 2 and MS6 cars.
    - The wrist pins have thicker walls on the Gen 1 and MS6 cars. I doubt this affects much as I don't see too many people breaking the very stout wrist pins. Other things will go first.
    - As it has already been mentioned on the mazda forums, the pistons are different for the Gen 2 cars.
    The Gen 2 piston has been designed to improve combustion and direct the fuel spray upwards and AWAY from the cylinder wall.

    Haha! I'm one of them..I bought a 2011 WRX last year. When I first had mine, I saw maybe 1 other in the Burlington area..now I see them everywhere. I'm upgrading next year to a RS4. Better comfort and more power but still has AWD for our shitty weather.

      I personally prefer Subaru. Best sounding, 50/50 AWD, and the lowest center of gravity or all of them because of the flat 4.
      But not everyone likes the boxer rumble. The first step is to decide whether you want FWD or AWD. Next decide what type of mods you want and how far you want to take its performance. There are more aftermarket options for Subaru and Mitsu than there are for Ford and Mazda.

    No hood scoop on the sti? R you sure it's not an rs?

  • @malakai23
    @malakai23 11 років тому

    It has a fmic, that's why there's no hood scoop.. guess they didn't want/need it. However, during the in car portion while in the subaru i noticed there aren't any sti door panels (the light blue ones that come standard) furthermore, the gear ratio of the subaru doesn't match that of a 6spd. Clearly a wrx with mods and an sti wing. Very good runs though.

  • @downsidefx
    @downsidefx 11 років тому

    Haha I'm confused, a stock mazdaspeed 3 will do 13s all day. If this is actually tuned up to ~380HP it will be a good deal faster.
    In any case the first gen of ms3's definitely had a subdued and non-flashy look, I still have trouble telling them apart from a distance.

  • @sleepersown
    @sleepersown 11 років тому

    To be more specific ( #'s from dragtimes ), they seem to run mid to low 14's and some can crack 13's stock ( looks to be dependent upon their 60' ). Either way, that's just not my opinion of pretty quick. Now if it could break 12's stock on stock streets, yea, i'd consider that pretty quick. Not putting this car down in the least though.
    Anywho, I know nothing of any gen of ms3's. This was honestly my first time seeing one race anything lol. I thought they were slow as hell, hence " sleeper ".

  • @rg73gz
    @rg73gz 12 років тому

    When you are racing from a roll... You use your left foot and gently hold the brake pedal, with the right foot you give the car a little bit of gas. If you do it right you will build boost in your turbo, without going faster. When the race starts, you let off the brakes, floor the gas and it goes. This prevents turbo lag and can be great for getting a jump on people.. If you go to my page and watch my race with the 2002 FireHawk you can see an example...

      He's probably starting in 3rd instead of 2nd. Since in this car you shift to 3rd at 50-55MPH, he probably figures it just better to start in 3rd. One could start in 2nd, but you'd get wheel spin and have to shift/respool. Unless you flatfoot shift. But anyways, he's probably starting at 3000RPM or so.

    Not tryin to start a fight. It may be an STI? But I side with Ben. Sumthin' dudn't add up? For that Mazda to keep up with a a tuned STI, it would need a huge turbo. And you can't see blue suede on the inside of the Sti? My '05 Sti had modest bolt ons with factory turbo.... 22 lbs boost, intake, full greddy exhaust and downpipe, BOV, boost control, wrapped pipes with a remap, tire pressure at 28psi. It made 392hp and crushed C5 Vettes all day long. Tuned STI's are really hard to beat.
