      Yeah 302 whp was when I was on stock internals.. After I did pistons rings..rods..springs/retainers valves... bearings.. And an Type R intake cam and the little 57 trim made 407 wheel horsepower @ 15 pounds.. And it was a little unruly on the street until we switched to boost by gear in which it ran wastegate pressure ..made 302 wheel horsepower at 9 psi and first and second and then 15 psi in the remaining gears and on a drag radial I'm telling you I made a few 550 whp + domestic cars pretty upset and trapped low to mid 120s in the quarter which was plenty to piss off the 600 and 750 CC crotch rockets.. Best trap was 126 on a cool fall day.

With that being said, keeping in mind we're watching fairly sporty low 13 second cars that are all fairly close in power, why not make a vid. Good job.

      You're joking, right? I mean, unless you're simply talking about what goes down in this video. Stock vs stock, the speed3 and top end newer mazda3's get walked by an STi, even from a roll. The fact that STi would first pull, and then stay with those cars form freeway rolls actually makes these mazdas look bad. An untuned stock STi is putting down like 220-230WHP, maybe 240 if you're on a mustang dyno, and the lowest rated mazda running had 250-260WHP. The mazdas are lighter, and the speed3 is only running 2WD. Seeing when this video was put out, those mazda 3's were also only 2WD. AWD cars aren't meant for roll racing, especially from freeway rolling starts. That being said, if you take STi's with both having the same weight and WHP, except 1 was 2WD and the other was AWD, the 2WD version would walk the AWD version. You're splitting power to 2 wheels, rather than 4. Basically, think of dividing the power per wheel, or per axle. If you're 2WD and are putting down 300WHP, you're putting down 300WHP per axle. If you're putting down 300WHP but you're AWD, you're putting down 150WHP per axle. That's why acceleration suffers with AWD cars, especially at faster speeds.
      AWD isn't made for straightline racing, and it's REALLY not meant for starting at freeway speeds and accelerating on top end. AWD will always pull slower than it would if that car had been made 2WD. That's on top of any STi made within the last 11-13 years pulling slower than the previous years US spec STi's, for some odd reason. If you're 2WD, have the same power or more than an AWD car, and get pulled in a roll race, your car sucks. Like these new age muscle cars that put out more power than an STi, yet get walked by an STi stock vs stock (excluding the top end versions. We're talking the versions that put out 360-380hp, not the 440+hp versions.). I have never seen a mazda3 or speed3 with the same power as the STi pull an STi. It's actually the opposite, the STi pulls the mazda3 and speed3 when the power is the same, or close to the same.

      @@anthonyi2221 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Another non car guy. You don't know anything. In fact, I just ran a speed 3 about 2 weeks ago from a freeway roll at 80mph because that tool didn't want to slow down, abs I pulled it fairly easily. If you've got one and like to run, I'll run you, as long as you're willing to put a minimum of $1,000 down in the run. We can even do best 2 of 3.
      In this video, you're comparing a basically stock STi (axle back exhaust only), to fill bolt on+ Speed 3's that are putting down between 20-70WHP more, and running 2wd rather than AWD. That pull from the red Speed 3, which is origami the one with 300+WHP is pathetic considering its running a stock STi from a freeway roll. On to of that, any STi list some 2010 are slower than older STi's. Subaru started putting too many things on them that showed them down not just because of weight, but because of what the additions did in functionality. That being said, if the Speex 3's in this were stock, they would've easily got walked by that STi.

    lol the last guy in the speed3 row. he says full bolt ons, tuned on 91 running 20psi @250-260hp... pffft why spend the money on bolt ons for no power, or this guy is sandbagging his numbers a bit.

    • @guthrie1181
      @guthrie1181 8 років тому

      Yeah well 91 octane sucks and he's running a stock intercooler...so he's not fully bolted. If he was he'd be around 280ish whp on 91 octane. 93 octane would get him 290-300 whp. E85 mix would be 300-310+ whp.
      With the numbers he claims, he's probably running an intake and a downpipe or possibly just a testpipe, on crap 91 octane. I assure you he's making at least 300 wtq however.

      Its a mixed bag. "The updated car came with some additional weight, which was offset by the ECU and gear updates."
      From driving a few of both, I can tell you it boils down to the individuality of the car condition, driver and mods.

      I went from my beloved ‘95 corolla weighing 2200 pounds with 110ish hp to the ms3 and my speed 3 feels about 3 times faster lol... corners way better too and with a 6spd short shifter it is a joy to rip through the mountain roads. I test drove a ton of cars and the ms3 was my favorite by far. I’d highly recommend it as the next step for ya. I still got the faithful ‘rolla though 😌

    It's so funny all these people saying these cars are slow. That speed 3 has 300hp and only weighs 3000 pounds. That's one hell of a good power to weight ratio. It may not be the fastest but I'm sure it's faster than what 95% of the population is driving.

    I think something is being forgotten... the Mazdas are all tuned... the WRX STi was some "wanna be". He didnt know that his car was 305hp at the crank. Makes him comparable to the mazdas in numbers but the tunes gave the advantage. With just a change of maps on that Sti it would've been a completely different story. I've smoked SRT's and Mustangs in my WRX stage 2+) but I am not going to race a blown 5.0 or anything. I know my place... I also know that come winter when it's snowing outside I get to have way more fun. I also get to have more fun on back roads... well pretty much anywhere. Lets see those 800hp monsters hang in the corners on a WRC track. Who wants to go in a straight line all the time.

    • @joshs9066
      @joshs9066 8 років тому +2

      +blahyou77 Yea but the STI is in an entirely different price range. The owner of the red gen 1 probably paid 15k for the car and all the mods to get him to where he's at while the STI owner dropped almost 40k to get gapped by a FWD hatch lol.

    • @blahyou77
      @blahyou77 8 років тому +6

      +Turd Ferguson I'm not even going to acknowledge your ignorance if you think someone paid 15k for a speed3, an E85 setup, the supporting mods for it, and the numerous tunes for it (no car is tuned just one time) and if getting beat by 1 car is being GAPPED you're clearly not around racing. The guy got beat in a stock STI by a full bolt on E85 turbocharged car, if the speed 3 didn't win, he's got problems. And obv the STi is going to be more expensive, it's a brand new car. You don't know if that speed3 was owned since new or how much money he put into it. If you're going to comment, please have the ability to reason and make sense of what you say, otherwise it's irrelevant and you look like you're not the sharpest tool in the shed.

    • @joshs9066
      @joshs9066 8 років тому +1
