      Absolutely insane. No accountability on her part. Her big show and dance about brainwashing their son? Hey, domestic violence is messy and absolutely destroys families, obviously... But the daughter wrote it best-- "My mother, sister and I have been RUNNING for our LIVES from our father. I'm worried my mom is just going to bring us back AGAIN. And he'll kill us.." Then that's exactly what happens. And she wants to say "You know what? I should have *never* brought those girls back to The Devil.."
      Uh, yea. That's what both your daughters were pleading w/ you not to do over and over until The Devil finally killed them like he promised he would.. I don't care about her motivations. Whether she was complicit in understanding she'd bring her daughters back *to be abused.* Or whether it was because she's so desperate because she's always looked like a pig. At the very least it was *extreme* negligence. Criminal negligence.

    • @robmarsh918
      @robmarsh918 Місяць тому +11

      I get that people are disgusted by her behavior. But you have to understand. He met the mom when she was 14. You could see how tyrannical and obsessive he was to control women. He had brainwashed and instilled fear in that woman since she was a child.
      I have worked with kids of abuse (physically and sexually) and the emotions they feel are incredibly complex. Plenty develop a strange fear yet attachment to the abuser.
      You also have to understand that due to his extreme abuse and the age he met her, developmentally she was screwed. Trauma and brainwashing like that causes people to remain essentially young minded and immature with poor insight and judgment.
      Meaning she was never allowed to be an independent adult. So although she had “chances to run away” this woman did not know how to live without her husband.
      Typically an abused woman leaves their spouse 8 times on average before doing so permanently. Meaning they go back to 7 times.
      So this woman was a victim of child abuse and domestic abuse by the SAME person. This cemented himself within her mind as a powerful tyrant she could not escape.
      Is this an excuse for her behavior? Absolutely not. But there is a difference between a reason and an excuse. We can acknowledge that the mom was both a victim and an unwilling accomplice who likely still deserves consequences. The world is full of grey - you can be both. This man was a monster who instilled an irrational fear to everyone in his family.
      I think it was bc the girls could not be as isolated as the mom was when she was a kid that they were able to see a life without the dad. Unlike the mom, they had boyfriends who showed them what love was. And that likely made a huge difference.

    Patricia is such an odd figure in this case. I try to have empathy for her, considering Yaser started abusing her at 14. Abuse was basically all she ever knew. Of course a person in that scenario would so brainwashed that defying him would be like disobeying God. At the same time, this is such a vile crime. It's hard to fathom how even a parent could be SO complicit in their daughter's murder... Highly doubt she had zero clue as to where Yaser was all these years, or if she'd be chastising him so hard if he'd been found not-guilty somehow.

    when authorities fail to help abused children, they learn very quickly that authorities will not or cannot help them with abuse, so they stop trying. if your reports to police/CPS come to nothing but you have good reason to think a child is being abused you need to be persistent as hell. gather as much evidence as you can, take pictures and videos of injuries

    this case has HAUNTED me since i first learned about it around the time it was all going down. the case being so horrific on its own was enough, but it was the fact this monster was able to get away. just disappeared. i remember people theorizing he took his own life afterwards but it wasn't justice to me. that's the coward way out in this context. seeing the girls' faces in the thumbnail and the ... after "And Now He's", i was initially afraid it would be the same information as last, but clicking it and seeing "And Now He's Caught", i couldn't help but cry in joy.

    Motherly instincts are developed, not innate. Patricia clearly wasn’t fit to be a mother but was forced into the role. With cycles of repeated abuse, waking up fearing for your life everyday, it’s not wonder she’d be a terrible mother, she doesn’t know better. She needs mental help, not prison. I swear it’s like people forget what fear is. People can be manipulated into doing horrible things when they’re afraid enough. Patricia and her daughters shouldn’t have been in that situation in the first place.
