W8BC can work for setups where you are absolutely sure the deck height & chamber size won't have your piston impacting the plug. The W8BC is a projected core plug that should burn more thoroughly, but is longer and sticks into the combustion chamber.
Great tip.. I hav a 66 beetle with 1300cc and 56 beetle kept 1200cc i use the champion short range spark plugs.

For an 1835 with dual 40's, I'd recommend mains at 1.40 or 1.45 and .55 idle jets. This is with 28mm venturis, 2.00 air and .50 pilot jets.

This engine sounds like it may have aftermarket heads. Measure the spark plug thread width, if its 12mm wide you should use Bosch 7700 or NGK 4339.

It depends on which heads your engine has. If they are stock heads use the 14mm 1/2" reach Bosch 7902 plugs.
