      you might want to stay with resistor plugs, it is for radio interference and MAYBE could mess with all that fancy EFI electronics. 2024 calendar - and could save you on shipping and pick it up!

    Air and fuel are an insulator the more that’s in there the harder it is for the spark to arc

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  8 місяців тому +2

      For sure... might need to swap out to a non resistor plug to get a hotter spark when in my higher boost.

    1. never use bosch platnum in an air cooled VW. they foul out. 2 I never regap spark plugs. I just make sure they are all the same. usually around .26ish anyway. When you regap them usually you have the electrode out of square and that makes it fire worse. On High energy spark systems I would run them at .40 its about that simple. None of this stuff is in the books and the books didnt have the same fuels and ignition systems we have now.

      @@JWClassicVW I cant tel you anything about iridiums on a vw. but they might not work either. unless you have really high voltage on spark. Even then with air cooled temps I just dont know.

    I run a svda with an electronic ignition. Some recommend increasing my gap from 28 to 32 on up to 36. And i can't do anything above 28. She just doesn't like it. But i did just try a different plug so maybe I'll give that another shot.

    • @JWClassicVW
      @JWClassicVW  8 місяців тому +2

      I wouldn't go above 28... not on an NA engine if that's what your running.

    • @OwhyeeVdub
      @OwhyeeVdub 8 місяців тому +1

      @@JWClassicVW they suggest it because of the electronic ignition. But it's just that empi points replacement.
      I'm currently saving up for that pat downs setup. So we'll see after that.

    Hey JW ! I got to get outside and replace the left rear brake cylinder . The right one blew a month ago and Sunday I went to HF and was backing up and NO-BRAKES . It dumped all the fluid out in the parking lot . On the parts box it says always replace in pairs . I guess so . Heck the olds ones costed 7.49 $ each now 17,99 each ?

      @@JWClassicVW the old man always told me that. Save them for the water-cooled fast and furious folks.Heat range for one and and a strong ignition with proper gaps and proper mixtures at boost. It's fine line in your case. I couldn't tell view of plug but I would guess it looks rich. Don't remember what coil packs your using but probably losing some through those plugs. If it's HEI try a plug used by cbp for that . My two cents. If I'm making sense. IRDs seem a little to modern and I never use platinum plugs they foul to easy
