Exactly! I’ve spent fortunes on tools over the years, yet when I come to do something for myself like this I usually end up cocking it with bits of scrap wiring and pound shop tools cos I’ve none of my decent gear to hand 🤣
@@sally6457 no, but fortunately I have friends who are moderately more professional than me, who’re usually willing to let me borrow theirs when required.
you can get inside the boot and go behind the right side cover, where the wiring loom goes up to the boot-rubber cover and you can pull it downwards into the chassis without cutting it. also it is worth having a look in the numberplate light trim especially if you have the non led bulbs. i have seen damaged wiring in there or no voltage to one end to the other somewhere etc. (resistance check with a multi meter) the numberplate light holder was damaged on one, so only the bulb made the connection(if bulb goes bad the paralell circuit broken etc), the microswitch has gold plated metal parts inside unlikely to go bad, but the wires can be problematic at this age.
I had another issue with it recently and it was the wiring in the number plate lights and to the micro switch the switch. It’s in this other video: ua-cam.com/video/EoEjOxCHZ6E/v-deo.html
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos ffs cardie luv..... In all honesty I was watching your tutorial crying laughing. I plyed it to my Mrs who agreed. Raat then... Wot abaatt the jonny?
Cant get into mine at all. Cluster thinks the boot is open and the key won't open it manually either...... Scrap that just managed to get into it manually with my spare key. I've noticed if I slam the boot the fob starts working again to open it.
Thanks to your video, I was able to pinpoint my ground issue with the switch. Cheers!🤙
Nice one, and hope the vid helped.
Great job.shows the quality of work that can be achieved with unlimited high quality tooling

Sounds like similar issue to this one tbh
I have the same car and exactly the same problem
It seems a common issue. The wiring can fail in multiple places
