- This is a common problem in most BMWS with this central locking switch, so I’m going to show you a simple/temporary fix until you are able to get the part ordered!

Hey trying to figure this out for my car, I'm just wondering if the hazard light was working or if it was both the hazards and the locking button? On my car the locking button doesn't work but the hazards work
The hazard light worked for me just the door locks didn’t. Hope that helps
Great vid man.... I got a z4.. with this issue... gonna give it a try... uh.... great tunes selection... but turn it down just a notch ... had a hard time hearing ur instructions...
I do appreciate the comment, yeah this is a much older video so my editing back then wasn’t the best. My newer videos I haven’t gotten complaints about the audio so I think I made the appropriate adjustments. What’s the plans or your z4?
@@namedchevy ... bought it as a project back in Jan... 3000...... 2003 2.5l ... 5 spd... so far.... new windshield.... shoes.... cosmetic repair..... so got 4250 in it so far... kickass car to drive.... the gets 2nd looks all the time.... look forward to ur informational vids.!!! That’s a good price for a z4, as long as you’re enjoying the car that’s all that matters! Every time I see one I always do a second look ahaa, you stay safe as well!

Hey Chevis, my 2nd comment to you. THANKS very much for your video. Fixed pesky central lock switch JUST as you suggested was main problem. Day b4 1st verified that fuses 49, 52, and 60 were good. Bit tricky to get middle plastic piece up to pop hazard light + central lock buttons. Sure enough, the plastic underside was cracked & separated! Used electrical tape to FIX both central lock + hazard light switches. Only suggest you don't have medium loud music on next videos so folks can hear you better. Eric, Portland OR
I do appreciate the feedback and I’m glad even though the music was too loud that you were able to get the problem fixed. It’s nice that like few you didn’t get at me about an issue with the video that I’m well aware of, as many have stated and that it was an older editing style.

My hazard light and lock button weren't working properly so I popped them out and when I push the bottom back into the housing only the hazard light works again. What do I do now? I need to fix the central locking button :(
Just have to get another one and replace it. EBay, Amazon, scrap yard, depends what you want to pay really.

@@namedchevy yeah. the lock button doesn't work so does the amber lights button. I'm starting to think it might be broken or just doesn't work completely.
Yeah at that point, I believe the whole button is probably broken. Sorry to hear that, but I know they’re inexpensive

The background music is super distracting and not helpful I couldn’t even get through the video. It seemed to get louder when the work was starting to be done. That sucks.

think this would cause my doors to not unlock at all ? even with the physical key i can’t get my doors to unlock, i can only get in through the windows/sunroof right now by holding down the unlock button and letting them all open🤣 physical key won’t open the doors, key fob won’t, and neither will the physical button in the car. key fob works tho, the trunk unlocks just fine with it, and i can roll the windows down with it
I’m not to sure, I’ll do a quick google search. That is weird and lucky you have comfort access, I still say check the switch it’s easy to pull up and see if broken.
Check these fuses 49, 52, and 60. So the key doesn’t lock or unlock but only opens the trunk and the centre console unlock button does nothing?

No problem, yeah sorry I was new to UA-cam then with the editing style. I’ve made much better videos since then, sorry it was painful.
I had a spill make my buttons stick down and together. Pressing the hazard button locked my doors.
You can save about an hour:
Press a utility knife blade down the back and then there front (or two at once) and pry the sucker out.
The frame of the switch is only held on with tiny clips that can be released with the same utility blade.
Take apart all the plastic parts and clean them with soap and lots and lots of water. Almost always the defect is just that the buttons get stuck depressed. You can confirm by operating the buttons on the circuit board.

Never tape anything, all that faff, replace it? And lose the music, it drowns your voice.
The tape was a temporary solution until the new part arrived, thank you for the advice on the music, I have since changed as it was too loud. 💪🏽

I really hate it when the background audio drowns out the voice teaching you how to fix what is broken!! Is it a need to show the hole of the you tube world that like this music, and it makes me look cool.when the opening music bed never goes away i have a repeating practice, I turn off my audio and hope the video still shows me what I need to know, then I give a thumbs down after i have learned nothing. Do us all a favor, if you want to be a rap star, go audition in a studio, if you want to share your knowledge...TURN OFF THE DAM MUSIC!
