Still in the process, but as someone who ONLY knew how to chain, this video explained everything really well and I look to be on course to finish a hat soon! Great video!
My suggestions: make extra rows in order to flip it back on itself: see on one big button or several small one as embellishments; crochet a flower and attach to front.
You mention to use an 8mm hook, is there a reason not to use the hook size recommended for the yarn you use? btw i have successfully made this beanie and I'm super excited. even added a pom pom. lol
Yay! I'm so glad. If you're on social media tag me in your photos! @sigonimacaroni I use a larger hook because it makes the fabric more flexible. It's just personal preference 😊
If I wanted to make the hat longer (“baggier” if that makes sense!), would I just repeat the rows 5-9, for as many rows until it is as long as I want it to be?
What size yarn did you use? If you use smaller yarn than the tutorial it’ll make it smaller. She used weight 6 yarn. If you use any smaller your hat will end up smaller.
What I learn by crocheting sometimes you can be pulling the stitches too tight. I had to learn not to be so tight with my stitches that means relaxing your hand and relaxing the yarn and let it flow
Have already made six. My suggestion…..start drinking wine starting on row 5. Starting any earlier means a lot of do-overs!! Great tutorial. Very easy to see what to do. Thank you.
I have saved this video because it is one of the best tutorials. I love how you explain where the slip stitch is and show in detail how to get to the base stitch. I had to watch a couple times but got it and made 2 hats! I added rows so that uncoils flip it over. They are so cute.
I've made 5 of these so called 20 min. hats now and still can't get it to under an hour at least. And I'm not that slow. I think it needs to be re-named. Speeding up the camera doesn't count either. 😁. Love the pattern tho! 🥰
I might have to stick to blankets, im 41 been crocheting blankets since I was 12. I tried this 3x. I feel close this time... Left it to try to finish tomorrow. Im usually a black thick yarn, hoping i can finish it. The other videos of making a rectangle to make a hat feels harder but ty here's to hoping i finish it tomorrow after some sleep lol
can anyone HELP?? I have made this successfully now six times!! It is an outstanding project and I am overall happy with the outcome BUT the slip stich/false stich makes a column of holes in the hat. I am doing something wrong but it is consistent LOL!
Thank you so much. It's Christmas crunch time and I needed a quick/easy cap pattern to match my scarves for gifting. This is perfect.Love your assistant's hair.
Your 30 minute beanie is adorable and needs nothing added. Anyone who takes the time to make a handmade gift should not have to worry about what the perceived value is. I have to assume the receiver will be more than aesthetic when they open this thoughtful gift. Also, you are a great instructor! Thank you for sharing your cute project.
So funny that a BASIC top down beanie always manages to trip me up 🤷♀️. But, I loved your tutorial and I’ll give it another try - Maybe I can get past my mental crochet beanie block !!
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you were able to make one! Let me know if you ever have pattern requests. I've been looking for ideas to create very beginner-friendly patterns ❤️
Two weeks of trial and error for my first crochet project... but I have a beanie that I'm happy to wear. Thank you very much for your lessons!!! On to beanie number two. :)
Been trying for ages to learn crochet. This is a simple pattern that I can understand. However, I have done row 3 at least 10 times but can only get 29 stitches not 30. Obviously I am going wrong somewhere but I just don't know where... I will put it aside for now & try again tomorrow (maybe)
Good video! I made my first thing other than Plain long chain today! Had trouble getting started but after I tore it down and started over 4 times I finally got it! 😊 made one for my niece, started another one for myself so we match! Thanks for the lesson!
Hi. Thanks for this pattern. I'm making it for a male so I need to increase the crown. I've studied your instructions to do that but am unsure which instruction to follow to add increases. Initial step 3 or 4. Or should I just add a new row, alternating a dc in 1st, then 2dc in next, around,? Thanks.
You are the best teacher especially for beginners. Any time I want to learn I go straight to your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your time and expertise with us 💕💕
Love love this video! I am very new to crochet and this is my first hat! I was able to make a larger size with your great instructions! Added a few more rows and folded the edge! Sorry I can't figure out how to add picture😢
This took me 3 tries, honestly I started it when I was exhausted over holiday but today I have 2 done quickly and they came out so cute! Thank you for sharing your pattern and directions I am 41 and learned how to crochet blankets when I was 12 but never learned anything else.
I've tired this more times then I can count, the 1st 2 rows look like a Barbie hat...... Then after that, it turns into a Doyle for my drinks.... It literally flattens out, there's no bringing it back. I've gone for another row to make it even flatter. This isn't possible, I'm so over this. I've watched a few different videos on how to make hats, I'll go watch them. 🤬🤬
wonder if I do 3 double crochet in the 3rd round, will I get a ruffle effect. I don't want that perky on the top. Help pls? or what should I do if I don't that pointy top. More relaxed look and longer dripping at the back.
Thank you for this adorable and quick hat pattern! I am heading a new Crochet and Knitting Circle in my Senior Citizen group and will share your pattern with them! I can’t wait to crochet one! Your little boy is soo cute❣️
I just now get it, how to make a hat. Because everyone explains the slip stitch and begin a new row part differently. I always got my stitches wrong, one too many or not enough. I probably will not be done in 20min because of my triggerfinger, but ill try. (:
Very beginner friendly. I always struggle with where to insert the hook (especially when I get to the end of the row!) Your video made it so clear. Thank you!
I made a change to the pattern by alternating the DC rows with 2 sc rows into the back loop only. It is an easy switch to make it look more interesting.
Love this project. Just learning crocheting and wanted to have an actual project to that is in my ability. This hits the spot beautifully. I also love the pattern notations given as I know that if I am going to be able to make something more complicated I will need to be able to use a pattern. 😃
My 12 year old beginner was able to follow this quite nicely. We just paused between rows. Pleased with how the hat turned out! Thanks for a great tutorial!!
at the end of Rounds 5, 6, 7 and 8, do you still do the "SL", CH 3 and continue or just DC from Round 5 (without the SL and CH 3) all the way through Round 9?
I love this tutorial! It is easy, Im just relatively new and I keep making the same mistake and having to do it over. When you get to the second or maybe third row I keep having a big hole right where my slip stitches/new row is. What am I doing wrong?
So I decided to crochet a beanie for my awesome Greek grandma to show my respect for her. (Note that I just started crocheting and I’m 10 yrs old so I’m naturally very bad at crocheting) and I finished the video and the beanie didn’t even fit my head. So right now I’m seeing if doing a bunch of DC to make it bigger. I’m not sure what I did wrong, but if you know, please tell me! 😅
Do they have the loop at the end? If they do, you can sew on a button on the inside of the hat and attach it that way and there are a few other ways too. I'll make a tutorial on this eventually, but for now here's a video I found by Marly Bird that will help! ua-cam.com/video/0mytB8EYmls/v-deo.html
You can make it longer, by adding more rows, you can make it bigger around by adding 2 double crochet for each inch you want it bigger. Example once you have the 40 stitches the next row add one 2 dc once, this adds one stitch, if you add two 2 dc, twice in same row you now have 42 stitches in that row making it bigger around by 2 stitches, the more you add in the same row the bigger it gets.
Did you see my 2 year old make his debut? 😂
Adorable!
Cutie pie ❣
Cute 🥰
i did so cute
He's adorable.
Still in the process, but as someone who ONLY knew how to chain, this video explained everything really well and I look to be on course to finish a hat soon! Great video!
I’m so glad you found it helpful!
Oh, do you hsvr a channel..?
Agreed !!!!
This is a fantastically easy beanie. I made 5 of them with left over yarn when I was locked inside during the cold and gave them to a local shelter.
How do I get to the blog for other sizes?
Ooh...such a cutie! I can sure see the resemblance. Thanks for the gift idea.
You're welcome! And thank you! ❤️
Omgsh its true! Im just now starting to make Christmas gifts so i decided to make hats!
The crab stitch or reverse single crochet is also a beautiful way to finish a hat.
My suggestions: make extra rows in order to flip it back on itself: see on one big button or several small one as embellishments; crochet a flower and attach to front.
Love these suggestions MaryKay! ❤️ Thanks for sharing them with everyone!
A beanie does not have a flip back. only a hat.
Love how yours comes out - mine always have a bit of a point at the very top - do you have any idea why that might be?
@@rosemarimastandrea5639 Rather start with a magic ring.
Mary kay? Are you The Mary kay?
Very fun and easy to do with a multicolored yarn. 🙂 Definitely needed to add a few more rows for a bigger head, but still awesome.
great suggestions to make it special.
Awesome tutorial! ❤
Hi Sigoni. It’s aunt Carol. Great video.
Hi sweety❤❤❤❤ cute little baby at the end of wonderful class
Very nice tutorial
Hey, is that tiddler the quantity controller? 🧡😘😘🤗🤗

You can do what I did and add bunny ears. ;)
I love that idea 🐰
If I wanted to make the hat longer (“baggier” if that makes sense!), would I just repeat the rows 5-9, for as many rows until it is as long as I want it to be?
Super fast But......my hat only fits a baby doll....I followed your pattern.
What size yarn did you use? If you use smaller yarn than the tutorial it’ll make it smaller. She used weight 6 yarn. If you use any smaller your hat will end up smaller.
Or you crochet tight like me and need to use a larger hook.
Can u use 4 ply weight?
What I learn by crocheting sometimes you can be pulling the stitches too tight. I had to learn not to be so tight with my stitches that means relaxing your hand and relaxing the yarn and let it flow
Maybe yarn weight or hook size. Good Luck
Have already made six. My suggestion…..start drinking wine starting on row 5. Starting any earlier means a lot of do-overs!! Great tutorial. Very easy to see what to do. Thank you.
Amazing! So many lucky recipients! And thank you for sharing that advice 😂 Love it! ❤️
bahaha good advice

Is there a written patten for this har
@@terrymatthews9739 fit my hat i used her pattern in the video and just added 3 rows. 😊

I looked up your instructions to mage a bigger hat. You said to increase. What’s an increase?
Tapestry is pronounced

I crochet hats for various nonprofit organizations. This would be a great quick hat to make for them.
That's a great idea! And they're so easy to customize if you want to experiment with different colors and accessories 😊
I just finished my cute new hat!! I added 2 rows to make it fit better but this video was super easy to follow and helpful!!
I finished mine with a backward sc stitch and I really liked the finished look. Thanks for suggesting a finished look of our choice. 👍❤
What is a backwards sc?
@stacygreen7001 it's also known as the crab stitch.

I have never made a hat so fast! My mom had been wanting a new hat and I’m so happy I could make her one for Christmas. Thank you!
Why is it mine so small after 7th row?🤭where did I gone wrong?
Can I use a magic circle instead.
So funny that a BASIC top down beanie always manages to trip me up 🤷♀️. But, I loved your tutorial and I’ll give it another try - Maybe I can get past my mental crochet beanie block !!
Now, off to store to get 5 wt yarn! I think I can handle this!
I loved your tutorial. You make it possible for us beginners to do it. Thank YOU.

I love this beanie hat and the best part is that I already have the yarn. I don't have to buy any!! Thanks so much Sigoni!!
How perfect! I love when that happens ❤️
Hi Sigoni, wonderful video. Made my first hat in 30 mins flat and it looks amazing!

Anything I make for my friends is not “basic” to them. Haha they go crazy over my work! Great tutorial!
That's awesome! It's so good to have friends like that. ❤️
I believe you are pronouncing tapestry wrong. Unless your not from the USA . It is phonetically..Tap - a-stree...just a lil hint.
I appreciate it! I've always said it this way so I will probably continue to. But thanks for letting me know!

Ms.Sigoni..as u said for the blue variegated yarn if i make that into a cap the yarn is thinner so which size hook wud u advise me to use?
I love this!!!! I’ve also seen this hat with a simple crocheted flower and sewn on to the hat with the tapestry needle. It dressed it right up!!!
Yes! That's a great idea that I forgot to add. I love when you can make simple things look just as beautiful ❤️
I had a visible gap along the joining round line on my hat, even though I followed the video exactly
Very beginner friendly. I always struggle with where to insert the hook (especially when I get to the end of the row!) Your video made it so clear. Thank you!
How do you make it bigger? I'm using small yarn and my outer layer folds in on itself instead of getting wider
Do you have a PATTERN PDF we can download and print. ?
Thank you for explaining each stitch as you go!!❤
I used to do these a lot a few years ago. Adding ear flaps with pompom at the end also helps make it look more fancy. Thanks for the easy tute!
I made a change to the pattern by alternating the DC rows with 2 sc rows into the back loop only. It is an easy switch to make it look more interesting.

Cute hat! I will try to make some. Adorable little guy back there.
2 strands of worsted weight yarn can be substituted for the bulky yarn.
Can anyone explain why my row 5 is too loose? I am doing it like the video says
:( please help

Omg, thank you so much for the simple way to crochet. I love crochet, but I had a hard time following the instructions until I found you.
Can you mix polyester yarn with acrylic for this beanie
Just finished does not look as good as yours but it comes with experience it was nice tho
Could you do this with a 5 yarn and 7 hook? Would the pattern still work i mean
Great Morning - thank You so much for sharing ❤ the instructions are so easy I created one this morning within 20-30 minutes I love it.
How big for a teen top of beenie should 5 or 6 or 4 rows of top of hat love video from jodie
at the end of Rounds 5, 6, 7 and 8, do you still do the "SL", CH 3 and continue or just DC from Round 5 (without the SL and CH 3) all the way through Round 9?
NEVER MIND! LOL. Just answered my own question!
I love this beanie but definitely can't do it in 20minutes.
I mainly use 4 wt and it typically takes me 3-5 hrs to make a hat.
Aww he’s adorable with his curly wurly hair. And I do love your fast beanie hat.

Do you have similar hat with single crochet?
Can use back of stitches to create ridges in rows.
Hi Sigoni, I made this beanie but my daughter would like it just a little bigger. What do I do for that? Thank you, love your tutorials.
