Mine didn’t turn out great but it was my second ever attempt at crocheting so the fact that I was even able to make a hat (however lopsided it looks) was amazing. Thank you for making such an easy to follow tutorial and explaining when and why stitch markers are needed. I’m definitely going to try this again now that I have a better grasp on how to do it.
This is how I’m experiencing it too! Haha. I’m noticing my rows are getting shorter and shorter
I went down a hook size, as I was worried about the hat being too large. It still came out huge. The pattern was easy enough to follow and I'll make it again, but I'll go down yet another hook size. Thank you for the tutorial!
you can just use the same hook just make less rows
try doing like 30-35 rows so it can be smaller and chain less also that way it wont be extra long
Thank you the hat it beautiful 💙
Mom mother use to crochet, she made so many things one of my favorite was Santa’s boots, I wish o had learned before she passed away, now I really want to learn and this tutorial looks simple thank you and I’m definitely seeing this to start.
@sonvonia Don't give up! There are MANY tutorials on here, some easy to understand, others impossible. I learned to chain and single crochet when I was 8. I saw my mom was making something so I asked if she could show me. She had a spare hook and a 3 ft. long piece of yarn. I went through the 2 things a couple of times, got bored and went outside to play. Fast forward 21 years and a coworker was making the most beautiful blanket for the baby she was expecting, I asked her where to get all my supplies because I was also expecting my first baby. When I got home that night, after supper, I took out all of my things and opened the pattern. My excitement turned to tears when I had no idea how to read the pattern. Thanks to help from several different people, I managed to finish that blanket, and it wasn't perfect, but I was proud that I didn't give up. Well, after that I had no plans to crochet again, until 2014. Twenty six years after that blanket, I learned that we were going to have a grandchild. I found everything I needed, still needed some help, but I made the same pattern for our granddaughter. Since then, I've made 4 more, along with over 200 baby beanies to donate to a children's hospital. I have a lot of yarn and no desire to stop crocheting. I am having some memory problems like my mom did when she died, but I'm not that bad yet, just slower.
I've crocheted many hats over the years, and I never liked any of them until this one. It's perfect. Thank you so much for the tutorial.
At about 3:06, as you are turning your work, you say that you are making your first DC, when you are actually making a HDC which is the correct stitch. I'm just trying to finish a ribbed beanie in the infant size. It's new for me because I've always made them in the round. I needed something new to be excited about making them again. I love making baby blankets for grandkids and beanies for a children's hospital.
No matter what yarn or size you use the following tips will help...
The amount of chains you start off with will determine the length of the hat... from where the center of the hat starts to your forehead. measure your chains on your head... And it will stretch a bit.
As for the amount of rows... Crochet enough rows to get 19 inches long. This is adult size to fit nicely. (Same size as a headband)
I wouldn't have been able to crochet without this video because I couldn't find any other clear video to help me.🥰🥰❤
LOVE THIS TUTORIAL!!! I am a somewhat beginner to crocheting and this tutorial was pretty helpful and I love the end product.
Trying to make one for my boyfriend , i hipe it turns out good •_•

@@aamnaaziz2565 spoiler alert : i didnt do it cuz he doesnt wear hats 🥲
Nice video but you had a mistake at 3:14 you said double crochet and did half double crochet
I've made this hat two times and I'm working on my third one. Thanks for the pattern
I really enjoyed this very SIMPLE pattern.
I have only ever made hats top down in a circle and didn't really know how to make one from a rectangle. Your tutorial was so easy to understand! Thanks so much for posting this!! ❤
I made one today Sept 4th 2024 and I followed everything to a t, I think, but the hat came out so big im glad that I have dreadlocks so it will fit right.😊
Just finished my hat according to your directions. It turned out perfect with your very easy video and comments. Thank you so much for helping me here.
What was the total rows to make rectangle
Hope she answers this. Cause I need the same ?
At 3:13 she says 52 rows
U could also do itto the circumference of your head
Mine gets smaller as I make rows. What am I doing wrong? Frustrated. Caroline
@jamesgreer3953 it sounds like you might be skipping the first stitch or 2
This is the best hat ever and it was so easy!!!! Such a cute chunky hat! Thank you for a fabulous tutorial I will keep this pattern forever!
I’m trying to make this and for some reason, the lines keep getting shorter and shorter as I go. It’s starting to become more of a trapezoid vs rectangle. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
I had the same problem when I first started crocheting. I had a lot of lopsided dishcloths when I first started out, lol.
So a couple of things could be happening. The most common mistake is forgetting to do the last stitch at the end of the row. This stitch usually looks different (and may be tighter than the other stitches) so it's easy to overlook. This can eventually turn your rectangle into a triangle.
Another common mistake is skipping stitches in the middle of your work. This can happen when we're still trying to figure out tension and some of our stitches are tighter than others, it makes them easy to miss.
Here are some tips to help prevent this:
Count your stitches at the end of each row to make sure you have the correct amount.
You can also use stitch markers on the last stitch at the end of your row so you don't skip it.
I hope that helps!
I put a stitch counter on the 1st stitch of the row so I'd know. Otherwise, I was getting confused as well.
I'm a some what new crocheter and I wanted to make a hat for my mom for mother's day!! This was so easy to follow!!! Thank you💕💕
This is my favorite beanie instructions. Fun and easy to make
plain and simple....just the way I need to be taught....thanks
My sides look diagonal instead of straight when I skip the first loop where the “chain 2” is. So instead I hdc into the same loop as the “chain 2”. 😊 looks good
Hello! I’m making this for tall dad 6”2 and I using bulky yarn with a 6mm hook and I’m wondering if the amount of rows you do is the width of the hat ( how the hat fits around your head) idk just please help! 1 day left😭😭💀
What an easy hat to make. Thanks for sharing. The tutorial was easy to follow with absolutely no confusion. Great teacher❤
What should be the size of the rectangle for a woman’s beanie pl
My question also
Hey Tiffany- want to say a big thank you! This is the only beginner tutorial for a beanie that I’ve been able to follow. Here to show it some more love and appreciation! I’ve now completed my First crotchet project because of your helpful commentary and video. Please keep up these videos, you’ve gained a fan from England 😀❤️
Aww what a kind and thoughtful comment! Thank you so much, I'm glad it helped you :) It took me a long time to learn how to crochet and once it clicked, it became so much fun! It makes me so happy when someone else learns the craft and can also experience that enjoyment. Happy Crocheting!
OMG I ACTUALLY DID IT!!!!!
How man rows?
How many? Didn't see or hear that ???
52
did this in 3 days and totally would recommend!!! thank you so much🫶🏻🫶🏻
Your comment made me so happy! I’m so glad you liked it! Thank you so much :)
Hi i got a question for you i was wondering does it matter what kind of hook i use as long as it's either 5.0 or the 5.5 the reason y im asking is because I have a soft handle one because of my wrist and the other reason why im asking is because this is my very first time doing crocheting since my dad passed away 3 years ago and my step mom stop talking to me because i look to much like my dad. And now im finally ready to start back and your video is so easy to understand that i know i can make it without any trouble
I love to make my hats in a square then I sew it together
It looks really good, i'm thinking about trying this as my first crochet project ever ! Do you think 100m of yarn would be enough ? My yarn looks kinda similar to the one you use in this video.
Great video!! What would the rows be for infants please?
I wish u could tell me the finished measurement..?×?..
It was at the end!
Hi I'm a new crocheter. This was my first time making any type of clothing. This tutorial really helped and I love how it came out ❤

What is the measurement of this rectangle for a woman
I’m going to try this; thanks for such straight forward video.
I did it. First time crocheting in a very very long time. TV
Thanks this is the easiest tutorial I’ve ever seen!
Hello Tiffany, can you please 🙏 tell how to make baby hat,the same pattern, but how many loops and how many rows should you make for a baby ?
I noticed you're crocheting under not over, Does that matter?
I, personally, don’t think it matters when making hats. This is probably not a popular opinion though and I know that many people would disagree, and that’s fine.
I don’t concern myself with under or over unless I’m making Amigurumi dolls.
However, having said that, technically….yes, the stitches do look differently depending on how you crochet (over vs under). But, I find this only really matters with smaller items, and when using a solid color yarn. Again, others will probably disagree with me on this.
But, I’m kind of a crochet rebel anyway. You’ll notice I don’t even hold my hands “correctly” either. My index finger is never extended (gasp!) lol.
I do this, and somehow, each row is getting smaller 😢
Be sure to count your stitches in each row. You may be missing stitches if each row is getting smaller.
Did you use one full skein of yarn?
I’m making a surprise for a coworker but I don’t have the dimensions for their head lol. Would this work for a universal size or should I make adjustments?
I did it! Thank u
I know i won’t have a problem making the square, but I’m afraid that when i fold it over and start crocheting through both haves that ill get confused and mess up.
Love it ❤!!! Can’t wait to try this. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love your instructions they were very clear and easy to understand thank you so very much for sharing your tutorials 😊 I like my tutorials to be short and simple so thanks again 😊😊😊
Thank you so much 🫶

Im making one in progress. Ive always made the brim first then work my way up. This ahould be interesting.
How many inches tall should the rows be? I have thicker yarn and bigger hook.
Super helpful thank you so much! I made the most beautiful beanie, I love it and I'm so proud of it!!

How many inches tall should the rows be? I have thicker yarn and bigger hook.
Thank you ❤
I love pattern I have made a lot of beanies now I need sizes for babies toddlers kids 8 years to 12 years old your awesome
When at the end of the final row, do you chain twice and flip? Or just flip?
And I can always go around the edges with a simple stitch to decorate it if wanted or a puff ball at the top
Why do you yarn under after going through the back loop?
can this be done without a yarn needle? got up to that point and realised i didn't have one 😢
Thats a hdc
Thank you sooooo much.... I was especially interested in the finishing.
Does the starting chain and the first row of HDC count in the 52 rows?
Thanks so much! I just started crocheting two weeks ago and this was SO easy! This is my first project so tysm!!
Thank you for your tutorial
I have done it ❤
I have a small head. I only did 45 rows.
I tend to make mine too big, but will try this one thanks!
How long did it take you to make this?
How many chains for a large please
Just made a hat for the first time, thanks to your help! This video was great and I’ll definitely be saving it for future reference to make more! :)

Best video!! Thank you!!!
Please do a baby hat video
Very nice and simple thanks.
What a great simple idea!
Can this be made with a 5.0 mm hook?
How long did u make it
Can i use this pattern for gents sweater
New to this so this might be a dumb question 😂 - when you fold it you are stitching the shorter end together not the side end, correct?
Your beginning chain and your last row get stitched together ^_^ hope this helps!
I don't understand how to start ? Get two stitches?
Skip 2 stitches. Not get 2 stitches.
Very beautiful
This hat too big lol
Is it a double crochet after the 2 row or a half double?
I’d like to know as well. It looks like she makes HDC but she states DC. I’m going with HDC’s .
Very simple and easy to follow❤
Love it! Just finished and it looks great, thanks!
My hat came out a jumbo size. I used 34 rows.
So how many should I used?
25? Pls tell
She used yarn under (creates a tighter stitch) so that or your yarn size could be it
چه کلاه زیبایی❤
