To those who complain that it's not the slouch hat as shown, just add more rows until you get the length you want. It's not that serious, just takes a little self initiative and some common sense.
THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST COMMENT!!! I can't tell you how many times I not only have to reiterate that one size does not fit all... to add more rows of increase for width and more rounds til you reach your desired slouch!! 😘
So True, I have read other comments, crying about my hat was short, daaaa add more rolls, and think you're smart, they don't think, have to be told crochet 5 rolls, when you need 7, just add on..Love your videos ❤ 😅😂❤
I'm sitting here trying to figure out why 499 people (as of right now) have given this video a thumbs down. I think it was phenomenal. I am an absolute beginner to crochet and I feel like after watching this video I could attempt this awesome hat. I look forward to trying it soon. Thanks for the amazing tutorial!
Thank you so much Summer and I only focus on the ones the video helped, I'm by far no expert so if the little that I do know helps just 1 person, I've accomplished my goal! ❤
I made 3 of these hats today. The pattern is great. My only issue, and wouldnt thumbs down over it, is why does my hat and her finished hat (which are identical) look nothing like the picture of the hat on the mannequin that caught my attention originally. That's all. Other than that. Excellent pattern and hat.
I still think this wasn't a bad video at all and helped me make my first project. Did it turn out great? No, but my sister loved it lol. I have gotten so much better in the last 7 months.
But also I found that I prefer to make hats bottom up versus top down. Takes lots of patterns and practice to figure out exactly what you prefer to make and how. Maybe I should try this again, now that I have a better idea of what I am doing
Just what I was looking for … and you made it fun. I will be mailing it out as a gift tomorrow. I’ll make another for myself. I just love the slouch hat. I did make it longer. Thank you 🥰
For those who want a more slouchy hat keep adding rows. To make it still fit decrease the stitches by 2. I did and it came out perfect! Going to give to my sister who has dreads
Good Morning Lisa. I just finished mine. I did it in a buttercup yellow and gray, and made 13 rows. I’ve got a big head. Lol. This took me just a night to do. With all the cooking of meals, cleaning, and taking time for my 6 yr. old grandson that comes over on the weekends(1 of 17 grandchildren), I started it yesterday. Love this easy pattern. Thank you so much.
I've been crocheting for a long time but still consider myself a beginner. I've watched many other crochet videos, but yours definitely stands out from the rest! Keep up the great work!

I really enjoyed this and learned something very new about crocheting from bottom and top of yarn skein. This is a free tutorial FREE and folks complaining so rudely are still unhappy. Pattern is VERY EASY and CLEAR!!!
Hi Lisa, I'm from the UK, and finding tutorials based on UK wool. thank you for sharing this tutorial, I took a few tries to get it right to suit the size I was looking for. I made a few changes ie hook size and wool, we use Double Knit wool and I used Patons Fab DK wool and a UK 6mm hook. I just worked the magic circle until I had 78 stitches then worked the number of rounds for length I changed to a number 5 hook working another couple of rounds decreasing to get the size I was looking at this point I changed hook size again to a number 4.5mm and worked 8 rounds of SC in every DC st. to create a band and it came out beautifully and most of all my daughter loves it.
Yes , I enjoyed your work. Thanks for sharing. Today my twin babies are celebrating their birthday the big 40. I am giving them your creation on their special day. Thanks again and God bless you.
You did an excellent job explains the steps through this video, and your tone of voice is so friendly and gentle. Thank you so much, my finished work came out beautifully. Keep up the good work 😀
This is such a clear, concise video to follow along with! My mom taught me the basics of crocheting when I was still in elementary school; 20-something years later my hats are still real hit and miss lol. But I followed along to your video and ended up with a cute hat about an hour later. Thank you!
I’ve been crocheting for less than 6 months and this is my first big projects I’ve done since. I had so much fun making this it only took me about 4 hours. Thank you for the tutorial!!
I love the dual strands on the hat. I started experimenting doing that about a year ago. Instead of using the same color yarn, I like to use two different ones. Using 2 complimentary varigated ones is so much fun. Just watching the way the colors all play together. A few months ago I started using one strand of a #4 along with two strands of a fine #1. I made an infinity scarf for a friend using three strands of the #1 yarn in three different colors. I used a fairly large hook, an L, I think. It made the scarf so soft and fluffy. Its a Christmas gift and I'm so excited to see her reaction.
Hi Lisa I know you mentioned that you are just starting with the tutorials, I found this to be easy to follow and I really appreciate your style...keep them coming! thanks!
Great instructions. I struggled with the first few circles using other patterns but the way you display the yarn arrangement (2:30 min for example) makes the beginning much simpler. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Just started crocheting and I loved this tutorial. This was my second hat so it took me about an hour to finish. Much better than the 3 days my first one took me.
When I was a beginner I tried a couple different tutorials that were two strands together and it wasn’t for a couple months into it before I saw a tutorial that showed pulling from both ends and I was mind blown 😂😂😂😂😂
OMG! I have been crocheting (self taught) for about 5 years and I never knew you could pull and use from both ends at the same time! If this works for me, it will be a game changer! Thank you so much for your tutorial video!!! ^^Christy
I can never get my yarn to pull from both ends, not sure if this is just because I'm in the UK and there doesn't seem to be two ends, or am I being silly? 😊
I loved this video! I learned how to crochet from my aunts when I was a little girl. You have much more patience than they had! Your instructions were very clear. Thank you!!
I absolutely used this pattern and modified it to make beanie caps the last 2 days and I want to thank you. I've only been crocheting for a few months now and you absolutely helped to catapult my skills further and I'm confident I can freestyle this pattern now. Once again thank you.
Thank you for the video. I've been crocheting for years but until youtube came alone all I could do was a granny square. My friend loves the hat!! Thank you again! Short, sweet and to the point.
If any of you are having a hard time with the Magic Circle make sure to click on the link in the video to view a more detailed tutorial that I just recorded, I hope it helps. THERE IS NOTHING THAT I CAN DO ABOUT THE MUSIC IN THIS VIDEO AT THIS POINT, IT WAS AS LOW AS I COULD GET IT TO GO (sorry). Just mute the video then and watch. ALSO, THE MORE ROWS YOU ADD, THE SLOUCHIER THE HAT BECOMES. ❤LWL💋
I bought 2 skeins of yarn and just finished an infinity scarf with one of the skeins. I think im going to make this bomb a$$ hat to match. Wish me luck!
BRILLIANT! I watched it all and now I'm going to give it to my mum so she can make this for me as I've still got no idea what to do 😁 Looking forward to wearing my beanie ❤
I have been watching crochet videos for a long time. I needed to make my own because I am natural with a lot of hair and could never find a hat to fit my head. I thought I could never learn to crochet so I made a couple with the loom (along with scarves). I am in love with my hats. The only thing is it takes soo long with the loom and having to carry around all the hardware when I want to crochet on the go. I really wanted to learn to use the hooks also as I am including hats in scarves in my outreach ministry. I watched a half single crochet from another lady for the scarf (which I absolutely love) and was looking for a pattern for a hat. Your instructions are great, I am now confident and excited to finally feel as though I can do it! So many people are in need this year. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. So many people will be blessed because of your help. God bless you. Sharon
I’m very new to crochet, and this was one of the easiest tutorials I’ve seen yet. I’ve made two other beanies using a different pattern, but it was a lot more complicated than this, and I absolutely will be trying this today! Thank you so much! You have a new follower!
I love this video! I'm a beginner crochet-er and following online videos can be really hard sometimes cause they go so fast. You took the time to really show how things are done, so I feel really comfortable trying this when I get home! Thank you! (:
You did a great job telling and showing - I didn't even need the written pattern! I've made a ton of them, to include using green and red yarn to make slouchie beenies for my elves and they LOVE them. Thanks!!
This was so easy to follow, thank you so much for the tutorial just made a fantastic gift for my sister. I used a 8 hook instead of the 10 hook and I had to crochet extra rows but the beanie looks fantastic xx
I started to crochet about 4 days ago. Countless hat & headband tutorials that I pulled apart in frustration. THIS one helped me to create a hat!!! Thank You & God Bless.
hey lisa, please dont me wrong and I dont mean any disrespect when I say it :) you are the only black person I saw on youtube who knits and the hat was so simple, thanks
Lol, not disrespected at all! I have actually come across a few that do crochet tutorials as well, but we are few and far in between. Thanks so much for watching! ❤LWL💋
Life With Lisa 343. Well BELIEVE it or not it's a whole lot of us that's out there crocheting. I've been crocheting since 6 and I stoped somewhere in my life line, then April 2018 I was told to pick up my needle again.....OMG my craft is beautiful. One day soon I hope to put my things out there....I GUESS💞
You Tuber I swear, I was watching and remarked thee same thing!! And since I don’t have my picture the the left of my comment, I didn’t want there to be any confusion or my observation to me misunderstood, I wasn’t going to say a word. I am a Black crocheter and it was refreshing to see another Black woman. The hat looks to be easy and the tip about using yarn from the outside and from the middle of the skein was ace! Thank you!
Honestly, I have tried and watched so many magic circle tutorials but they just made them more complicated and hard to understand for an absolute beginner, but after watching your video it made it to where I'm pretty confident I could do it.
I love your videos. I would like to see how the hats you make look. Maybe you can put it on and show us in your next hat video or get a friend to model them.?. Your tutorials are great and I'd love to see your work in all it's glory
Hey love! Thank you so much and thanks for watching! I am often doing projects for others so they don't always fit me, especially the hats! I am working on filming another one today and I will either see if it fits me or have a a model pose with it. The fit for this one, is just like the thumbnail photo! Hope that helps! ❤LWL💋
Idk what I am doing wrong but I have tried making this hat 3 times and every single time my number of stitches is correct. The gauge is correct. And the circumference of the hat is WAY to small. Help?
Ahhh I’ve never seen the magic loop. Mum taught me the same at the start (around fingers) but then pull through and chain 8 then chain tail (first loop) through to make centre... and begin crochet. Your way seems nice and easy all in one, wish mum was still here so I could share it with her. Thank you for teaching. 🙏
I aGREE with everyone….I too have been crocheting for years… but this has got to be one of the easiest to follow slouchy crochet hats I have ever seen. Thank you I’m getting ready to make about five tonight lol thanks love happy crocheting everyone 🙂🙂🧶🧶
I am a beginner at crochet...realllly beginner lol, but praise the Lord i was able to understand your instructions clearly...did have a little difficulty with the magic circle but prayer and perseverance helped me through that lol...the rest was so simple and i LOVE my slouchy hat. Thank you Lisa. God bless 💛
Absolutely love this pattern and I thought your presentation was really clear and easy to follow. Just the right amount of showing and explanation. Thank you! 💗
Thank you Life With Lisa!!!! I have been so afraid to start making one of these for years. Never thought I could have the patience for it. You are so calm and your instructions are so good that it makes doing this so nice. I really appreciate you for doing this video.
Thank you Lisa for your thoughtfulness on giving and showing how the project should look I like how up close your camera is to actually see the stitch and how you explain the process nice work❤
I haven't picked up crocheting in YEARS!! I am making a muffler for my grandson. And thought of floppy Beanies!!! I am going to attempt this! Thank you for the in sight.

Your voice is pleasing and relaxing. I love the way you walk through the steps. Easy to follow and I love the hat. The only thing is the music that keeps repeating in the background. Wish you would change it to something else like some Berry White played softly in the background. Any kind of relaxing music with a nice voice. Thank you! Please, do more videos.
Simple pattern took me 45 min. turned out a beautiful lavender hat using Lion brand Super bulky in Minneapolis Purple so pretty! Thank you for the pattern.
Thanks for your help Lisa, as I already said I’m a beginner and your so helpful. I looked at many hats, but yours was the one I liked best, and your lesson was so easy to follow. ❤️
This is awesome. Pulled out my Christmas yarn and whipped out two beanies, from one skein of yarn, in an hour using your method of bulking it up! Added a couple of flowers to one for my granddaughter and whala! Thank you for sharing.
Lisa best tutorial I have seen so far! The music is fine for me. I thought you were clear and informative. The video is perfect. I will be using this video often as I have a daughter who wears this style. I am still learning the basics of crochet and I never understand intructions well but I did yours.... Thanx
I've tried to watch at least 6 videos on doing this (first timer) I watched magic circle only videos....nothing. this is the only video that I could understand and I have started crocheting!! Thank you so much. Your video is brilliant. Your explanation is brilliant and I think I'm going to have a hat by the end!! Thank you so much ❤❤
That's ok, but there might be vision impaired viewers. I know most people don't think in those terms but it is possible for blind people to work on projects by touch so "just look at it" isn't super helpful for those potential audience members.
I made the video for those who could follow along visually. Never took into consideration there may be some that can't. However, my comment about just look isn't that deep and certainly not intended to offend anyway. Thanks for watching
Nooooo, 😂😂 You HAD to go wrong somewhere unless your cat has a huge head. Did you use the same size hook? Where you gripping too hard? I'm trying to figure out why it would come out so small?! Let me know, hopefully I can help you ❤LWL💋
Very good instructions, and demonstrations. Maybe the people who gave you a thumbs down was because they don’t understand the basic crochet terms. It’s taken me most of my life to just get familiar with the terms, and some different stitches. That’s because I learned one way to crochet, and everything I’ve made has been with that stitch.
Hello. I've made several of these for my grandkids and they fit them great! However I can get it on my big 'ol head. How do I make it about 3 inches bigger in circumference? Do I add more than 8 stitches in the magic ring? If so how will that affect my increase rows? Example if I add 12 DC into magic ring what would rows 2-4 pattern be? Thank you so much for your videos! I have learned so much.
Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad my tutorial helped! What you would need to do to make the hat larger is add an extra row or two of increases, meaning...your FIFTH round would be another row of increases, 2 double crochets in the 1st stitch followed by THREE individual double crochets in the next 3 stitches and repeat, this will make the hat larger. I hope this makes sense! 😊
I followed the pattern, same hook, and double yarn, and I have a beanie, not a slouchy. You need to put the hat on someone or a mannequin so one can see how what you did really fits. I’ve redone, and it’s either too big or too small. Disappointed!
I've tried for years to learn to crochet a beanie, and tried many videos. Yours is the very first one that I have been able to understand! Thank you so much for the clear instructions, your sharing of knowledge, and sharing your time! My finished project turned out a little wonky on the brim, but it worked! Thank you again!
To make the DC stitching “tighter” with keeping the same yarn instructions, could I decrease the hook size to a 9 (I don’t have a 9.5) and just add 2 rows of increases? I ask because my boyfriend loved my beanie and wants one to match his scarf I made but doesn’t want it so “see through” as he calls it. 😂
Tara, I will add that to my list. I am currently working on mastering gloves and it is HARD! I may put it aside and go for the messy bun hat, which would be perfect for me! Thanks for the suggestions! ❤LWL💋
I am a beginner crocheter, Thank you so much for this video WITH the written pattern. My son wants one of these for his dreads. I really appriciate your detail in this video. You make it so easy!
But how do we make the opening bigger I’m on the 12 rows and I can’t fit on my head
@tanisking7351 ...increase the double crochet on each row as much as you need to, for the size of your dome.
Google how or find it on youtube ...
So True, I have read other comments, crying about my hat was short, daaaa add more rolls, and think you're smart, they don't think, have to be told crochet 5 rolls, when you need 7, just add on..Love your videos ❤ 😅😂❤

Good video Lisa. I never thought about pulling the strand from the middle and the outside of the skein, to crochet together.
I do that frequently if I don't have the color/thicker yarn. Even use 2 diff. Skeins & colors 👍

Thank you Luna and thanks so much for watching! ❤LWL💋
Don't worry, there's no test to pass. Hold your yarn and hook whichever way makes you comfy. There is no right or wrong way to hold yarn and hook x
Thank You & God Bless.
so glad it helped
Love it! This was super easy to follow. I added more rows and made my hat 10 inches. Perfect slouch for me! Thanks for sharing sis!
So glad you liked it! I love the extra rows and how you made it fit perfectly 🥰
hey lisa, please dont me wrong and I dont mean any disrespect when I say it :)
you are the only black person I saw on youtube who knits
and the hat was so simple, thanks
Thank you!
@@ladonnawashington1643 thank you for responding LaDonna and I am glad you didnt take any offense either :))
This looks really easy. I am going to try it.
Brilliant way to show the start of this hat Lisa THANK YOU ;) i knew what you were doing after a couple of mins . Always wondered how this works xxx
Honestly, I have tried and watched so many magic circle tutorials but they just made them more complicated and hard to understand for an absolute beginner, but after watching your video it made it to where I'm pretty confident I could do it.
Just made this hat for my daughter. She's thrilled. First crochet project since I was a kid. Thank you for the awesome video!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching! 🥰
I had such success and fun with the first attempt at this that I’ve come back for another!! LOVE YOU!!
Great job!

Help?
Its the size of the hat the pattern makes not something your doing wrong :)
Thanks you guys! 😊 ❤️
Yes! Whipped this up so quickly! What a great and SIMPLE pattern. Thank you!🖤
Ahhh I’ve never seen the magic loop. Mum taught me the same at the start (around fingers) but then pull through and chain 8 then chain tail (first loop) through to make centre... and begin crochet.
Your way seems nice and easy all in one, wish mum was still here so I could share it with her. Thank you for teaching. 🙏
Thanks for watching Christine! Glad it helped
I aGREE with everyone….I too have been crocheting for years… but this has got to be one of the easiest to follow slouchy crochet hats I have ever seen.
Thank you I’m getting ready to make about five tonight lol thanks love happy crocheting everyone 🙂🙂🧶🧶
Thank you so much!! 🥰
God bless 💛
Yay! Hello Esther! I'm so glad the video helped...thanks for watching! ❤LWL💋
I'm on my second hat and I just love this pattern☺
Thank you Cheryl! ❤LWL💋
Absolutely love this pattern and I thought your presentation was really clear and easy to follow. Just the right amount of showing and explanation. Thank you! 💗
Omg! I loved your video, it was easy to follow and I got it in one try. Thank you 🤗
Thank you Life With Lisa!!!! I have been so afraid to start making one of these for years. Never thought I could have the patience for it. You are so calm and your instructions are so good that it makes doing this so nice. I really appreciate you for doing this video.
You can do it! ❤️
I made it! My first ever. Thanks to you.

Thank you Lisa for your thoughtfulness on giving and showing how the project should look
I like how up close your camera is to actually see the stitch and how you explain the process nice work❤
Glad it was helpful!1💓
Love your work very helpful for new crocheters. Love the music.
,thank you I needed a simple hat pattern i could follow. Have a blessed day
I have just made two and on my third one today.
Tejidos Kevalsha hi just wondering how you wear it to get the slouchy look ?
@@victorialamarque-blair6289 You can just tilt them to either side of your head.
I haven't picked up crocheting in YEARS!! I am making a muffler for my grandson. And thought of floppy Beanies!!! I am going to attempt this! Thank you for the in sight.
Out standing tutorial. Right speed, good camera work. Keep up the good work
Glad you liked it! Thanks so much for watching 🥰
You are the best thank for teaching me this is my first project!!
Awww, thank you and thanks so much for watching! ❤LWL💋
Once you go magic ring, you never go back
I've never seen the magic ring in a tutorial or pattern before. I think I'm in love.
FACTS!
yes it's great :)
Right!!!
Magic ring ddnt work for me... I give up with trying to crochet. I’ll stick to sewing.
I wish I could post a picture of my results. This is a great tutorial, thank you!
Hey LaTricia. I just started an IG page @LWLCrochets and you can tag me on there! If no account, you can always email me, I'd love to see it! LifeWithLisa343@hotmail.com Thank you and thanks so much for watching! ❤LWL💋
Love the pattern and the Lisa's ability to demonstrate and explain the technique. Many thanks for sharing your skill.
Glad it was helpful!
This is a fantastic tutorial, so easy to follow along and you are a great teacher. Thank you for this pattern
Thank you!!! You are so welcome!
Thanks again Christina! 😘
Great pattern, easy to follow, excellent instructions, nails on fire. LOVE!!!!!
Thank you so much! 🤗
This is awesome. Pulled out my Christmas yarn and whipped out two beanies, from one skein of yarn, in an hour using your method of bulking it up! Added a couple of flowers to one for my granddaughter and whala! Thank you for sharing.
Sounds great!
Wow i never considered using both ends to bulk up a project. I'm definitely using that for scarves.
You've done a great job! Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! Great instructions -- blessings love!
Lisa best tutorial I have seen so far! The music is fine for me. I thought you were clear and informative. The video is perfect. I will be using this video often as I have a daughter who wears this style. I am still learning the basics of crochet and I never understand intructions well but I did yours.... Thanx
Awwww, thank you soooo much!!!!
Thank you so much ❤❤
Wow, thank you!
"I don't know just look" 😂
The best way I could "describe" it! Lol
Love it!! Lol. ♡♡♡
I looked and looked and looked ... I am a very beginner and I will have to look elsewhere because i just didn't get it😥
Yay for this easy tutorial! I really think I could make this hat. I've been wanting to make my first hat so I think this will be it. 😁😁😁
Mine is the size of a cat hat and I did everything right
Nooooo, 😂😂 You HAD to go wrong somewhere unless your cat has a huge head. Did you use the same size hook? Where you gripping too hard? I'm trying to figure out why it would come out so small?! Let me know, hopefully I can help you ❤LWL💋
I used one that's a bit smaller but not enough to make it that much smaller and I dont grip very hard
Sounds perfect for the kitty in your profile pic!
Probably your gauge.
Size of the tool, how tight you pull your yarn, and how thick your yarn is. That can all play a role.
Thank you so much! 🥰
You are very good at explaining. You make sound and look easy. Thank you. Will be trying this
You can do it! 🥰
Omggg! I was raised in Morrisville! Can't wait to mobe back to Bucks!
A Bucks County resident myself for many years-great to call it home!
@@LifeWithLisa3434
Yes, perfect. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your reply. Now I can get busy making myself a hat! Lol....Have a blessed day💛
@@LifeWithLisa3434 so if I was to make it smaller for a child how do I do that?
I followed the pattern, same hook, and double yarn, and I have a beanie, not a slouchy. You need to put the hat on someone or a mannequin so one can see how what you did really fits. I’ve redone, and it’s either too big or too small. Disappointed!
I'm in love with this pattern! Also would this work with a K hook? My only N hook is being used in another project
Hey Raven! Of course it would. It would alter the pattern a little, but it will definitely work!
I love watching you crochet. I just needed it a little slower for me. I wanted to really understand the names of the stiches. I'm really a beginner!
Thank you and I'll keep that in mind for future projects 😉
I've tried for years to learn to crochet a beanie, and tried many videos. Yours is the very first one that I have been able to understand! Thank you so much for the clear instructions, your sharing of knowledge, and sharing your time! My finished project turned out a little wonky on the brim, but it worked! Thank you again!
Wonderful! I'm do glad it helped!
I’ve had some yarn setting out just crying to be made into a slouchy hat thamks👍❤️
Yes, the smaller the hook the tighter the pattern and just use your judgement as to how many rows to do
I can follow you just fine. keep going
Thanks for the encouragement Shawna! ❤LWL💋
I have made this hat 3 times in several colors & have gotten plenty of compliments. Thank you
You’re welcome 😊
Wow, you even took the time to reply! You truly are a blessing. Thank you Lisa
Any time!
Can I make a request?
I would love a tutorial for ear warmer and a messy bun hat🙏
Plz
Tara, I will add that to my list. I am currently working on mastering gloves and it is HARD! I may put it aside and go for the messy bun hat, which would be perfect for me! Thanks for the suggestions! ❤LWL💋
Tara, there are awesome tutorials for the projects you mentioned but I also love this instructor, so easy to follow.
Girrrrrrrrrrrrl I hear you but my brain is like what?! They gone mess around and get a coaster.......🤦♀️

I made this hat last night. This was the easiest video I’ve followed by far. Love my new hat!
