To those who complain that it's not the slouch hat as shown, just add more rows until you get the length you want. It's not that serious, just takes a little self initiative and some common sense.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST COMMENT!!! I can't tell you how many times I not only have to reiterate that one size does not fit all... to add more rows of increase for width and more rounds til you reach your desired slouch!! 😘

@tanisking7351 ...increase the double crochet on each row as much as you need to, for the size of your dome.

I made 3 of these hats today. The pattern is great. My only issue, and wouldnt thumbs down over it, is why does my hat and her finished hat (which are identical) look nothing like the picture of the hat on the mannequin that caught my attention originally. That's all. Other than that. Excellent pattern and hat.

But also I found that I prefer to make hats bottom up versus top down. Takes lots of patterns and practice to figure out exactly what you prefer to make and how. Maybe I should try this again, now that I have a better idea of what I am doing

Good Morning Lisa. I just finished mine. I did it in a buttercup yellow and gray, and made 13 rows. I’ve got a big head. Lol. This took me just a night to do. With all the cooking of meals, cleaning, and taking time for my 6 yr. old grandson that comes over on the weekends(1 of 17 grandchildren), I started it yesterday. Love this easy pattern. Hi Lisa, I'm from the UK, and finding tutorials based on UK wool. thank you for sharing this tutorial, I took a few tries to get it right to suit the size I was looking for. I made a few changes ie hook size and wool, we use Double Knit wool and I used Patons Fab DK wool and a UK 6mm hook. I just worked the magic circle until I had 78 stitches then worked the number of rounds for length I changed to a number 5 hook working another couple of rounds decreasing to get the size I was looking at this point I changed hook size again to a number 4.5mm and worked 8 rounds of SC in every DC st. to create a band and it came out beautifully and most of all my daughter loves it.

I love the dual strands on the hat. I started experimenting doing that about a year ago. Instead of using the same color yarn, I like to use two different ones. Using 2 complimentary varigated ones is so much fun. Just watching the way the colors all play together. A few months ago I started using one strand of a #4 along with two strands of a fine #1. I made an infinity scarf for a friend using three strands of the #1 yarn in three different colors. I used a fairly large hook, an L, I think. It made the scarf so soft and fluffy. Its a Christmas gift and I'm so excited to see her reaction.

To make the DC stitching “tighter” with keeping the same yarn instructions, could I decrease the hook size to a 9 (I don’t have a 9.5) and just add 2 rows of increases? Hello. I've made several of these for my grandkids and they fit them great! However I can get it on my big 'ol head. How do I make it about 3 inches bigger in circumference? Do I add more than 8 stitches in the magic ring? If so how will that affect my increase rows? Example if I add 12 DC into magic ring what would rows 2-4 pattern be? Thank you so much for your videos! I have learned so much.

    • @LifeWithLisa3434

Thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad my tutorial helped! What you would need to do to make the hat larger is add an extra row or two of increases, meaning...your FIFTH round would be another row of increases, 2 double crochets in the 1st stitch followed by THREE individual double crochets in the next 3 stitches and repeat, this will make the hat larger. I hope this makes sense! 😊

I followed the pattern, same hook, and double yarn, and I have a beanie, not a slouchy. You need to put the hat on someone or a mannequin so one can see how what you did really fits. I’ve redone, and it’s either too big or too small. Disappointed!

I’m a relatively new crocheter and this took me 3 hours 😬 definitely working on getting better. I’ve made two! My husband’s was a whole beanie but i used a J hook (way too small, my bad). In my 2nd I dc’d 10 in my magic circle, then increased in kind for a super slouchy hat for my daughter and even added a huge pom pom from the skein remnants. I would’ve never been able to without your tutorial! I’m looking forward to more of your videos.
