I’ve been knitting and crocheting for 38+ years, I’m 45 , and your is the one of the best patterns for those who are just beginning. Thank you . Great job. ❤
You can use small pieces of yarn as stitch markers you just thread a different colour of yarn through where the stitch markers will go. Do you have a ruler 📏 for measuring? I’m sure you could pick up a tape measure for just a couple of £. Hope this helps. Things like scissors and a darning needle are instruments that you will use almost every time you crochet so it might be helpful if you’re able to lay your hands on this two things, they aren’t expensive by any means. What I really enjoy about your video is that your nails are not three to seven inches long and blocking the view of which stitch I’m looking at. I’m trying to learn so I can do the Harry Potter Kit my wife got me for Christmas. This was very informative and helpful!
Had to restart when I was almost done with the panel, but I finally finished! I have a great gift for my friend’s birthday. Thanks so much! Also tip for anyone on a budget, Bobby pins work well as stitch markers and less well but still okay to thread it through at the end!

This project took me a few months, as I can’t crochet daily as my fingers start to hurt, but I finally completed mine yesterday. I will say, this tutorial made me feel self conscious about the size of my head, I had to make 80 rows!! Either way I love the way my first beanie came out, but knowing myself I know I’m going to eventually make another as there were sections of my rows where I accidentally added too much or not enough, so it’s a little wonky, but I had so much fun!! Thank you for the tutorial!!❤️😁
I'm finishing my second beanie using this pattern, and oh my gosh!! you made this so easy to understand, by the time winter is over I'm going to have a whole closet filled with beanies! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
As someone new to crochet - thank you for the reminders about stitch markers for the rows!! I can do hats in the round , but the 2 times I’ve tried a hat horizontally like this ( and also my first blanket) I have dropped several stitches … leading to a triangle shape and it’s pretty devastating losing hours and hours of work.
THANK YOU!! I started crocheting 3 days ago and this was my very first project after learning the basics, this video was SO easy to follow and felt so reassuring with how calmly and clearly you explain everything. Seriously so helpful. The result was so good, I still can't believe I did that (thanks to your fantastic tutorial). I will recommend this to anyone who is starting crochet and looking for a good beginner tutorial 💖💖💖
I just finished my first ever crochet project... This beanie... My rows were too short because of tension, so in the end I had to crochet horizontally on top... By the time I reached 90% of it, yarn started to get over... And you know, at that point you don't wanna buy the same yarn again... So I fixer uppered the top of it... Alternate slip stitched it together (yarn got over along the middle still... Thankfully had taken a long tail in the beginning, used that to slip stitch the rest)... I somehow made it work and I couldn't be more proud ☺... It's soooo pretty ❤
I Think your my new best friend…I have been crocheting for a little over a year and have never seen anyone saying that you should do the first row in the back of the chain…I have always struggled because I hated the uneven first and last row, but I also hated doing the chainless foundation lol…This is magical thank u
I just picked up crocheting again after years and years and this was the second thing I made (after a scarf 😅). Your instructions were great and I made this for my husband who works outside to hopefully keep him work. Thank you!
This was so helpful! I just finished a beanie for my friend. After almost a week of trial and error, and while working with quite the thick yarn(not chunky but very fluffy) which made it impossible to see the right loops its done and im really happy with how it turned out. Great practice on how to control how tought the yarn is.
This tutorial is one of the best tutorials to use to make a beanie hat! The first time I did this I accidentally mistaken 12 inches as 12 stitches… so I made it a little short. But it’s alright bc the second time it was perfect (well as perfect as perfect can be)
I made 6 of these as gifts. Thank you for the best tutorial ever. Now im making scarves to match this pattern. I just had to make a long chain..... about 60 inches and going from there. They are coming out great. Thanks again. Blessings
In three weeks, I went from someone that had never crocheted, to someone that had crocheted a beanie! If your reading this, you can do it! The first week is is three times as hard as the last week. ty Cherilyn!
Well I started with 46 and somehow every row after that had 44. It's not really noticable, so I'm calling this it a win for my first hat lol. This tutorial was great. Thank you.

I made this over the weekend and it was very simple! Clear instructions, worked up really quickly and I enjoyed making it. Will probably use this same method to make some more for myself and others this winter
Thank you so so much! This helped me a lot as a beginner My projects before this didn't really have any neat-looking stitches so this is a nice change 😁 It's pretty time-consuming for me though, otherwise, it's super simple to do!
Grandmother taught me the absolute basics and now I'm trying to increase my project library, found your channel by UA-cam recommendation. I'm so glad it did...some tutorials go too fast for me and yours is wonderfully paced. I need to get more supplies but I am ready to start making some beanies for holiday presents. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to see what other projects I can make!
Love this hat! I make stuff and donate hats and mittens and donate them to school rooms. The teachers always see children that come to school with no mittens or a hat. I live in upper Wisconsin. There is always a need
Your tutorial is quite simple and easy to understand, but I just have one question. At 6:35 you say that we go up repeating this pattern. My question is which pattern exactly because when I keep doing the single crotchet, it has one rib-like part in the beginning and the rest of it looks flat, it does not look like a ribbed beanie. Please help me out.
I am just 13 and i am amazed by these grandparents making these stuff for their grandchildren.. It's been just 2 days since i started crocheting.. I hope i can make this as a beginner.. Guess crochet doesn't have an age though😌💗 Edit : i tried it😭.. Processing.. 🥲💔
Thank you for this tutorial. I bought some wool yarn that I found on sale dirt cheap. I was thinking about making a beanie for my husband but I was intimidated.Your video is giving me the confidence to do it.
I've been having a lot of issues with the turning, after the first chain, which of the back loops are we actually going to insert our hooks into, cause it's really confusing me here 😭
You have to turn your chain and there is a back loop there you have to insert your hook but if you can't find a back loop then you're doing something wrong watch the tutorial carefully you'll get it... Hope it helps:)
This was extremely helpful and very well taught!!! I feel a lot of crochet tutorials can be confusing but this was very simple and I have made a wonderful beanie ❤ Thank you!!!
This beanie is sooo cuute!! I'm a noob beginner when it comes to crochet. I crochet your knitted looking beanie and It turned out super cute!! And the tutorial was amazing!! I was wanting to follow your bunny ear tutorial to add some bunny ears too it but my yarn is of the bulky variant! Is there any way to make the bunny ears without making them too stiff using a bulky yarn?
Thank you! For the bunny ears, I'm afraid I don't know any way to make bulky yarn not stiff. Maybe washing it with wool wash can help but only a little.
Do you include the “turning stitch” when counting stitches? Trying to count but not sure whether the “chain 1” is where I start or if the first time I insert the hook on the new row is “one.” Thank you:)
I’m about to make so many of these for my boyfriend and dad 😅 also quick question: I have quiet a big head its looking kind of tight, at the beginning how many more should I do?
This was an amazing informative video! I made my first beanie after less than a day because of these instructions! Thank you kindly for showing us how to do it!

Wow. That was very easy. Thank You for this tutorial.
You’re welcome! 😊
Just made my first crochet item following your video. Thank you! It's so cute.
THANK YOU! This is the FIRST video I have been able to follow! Your voice is reassuring, your instructions easy to follow. I am grateful and feel successful!
Thank you so much! I’m very happy to hear this!
This was my first project! This video was so easy to follow, thank you so much!
You are so welcome! 😊
I made this over the weekend and it was very simple! Clear instructions, worked up really quickly and I enjoyed making it. Will probably use this same method to make some more for myself and others this winter
Thank you so so much! This helped me a lot as a beginner
My projects before this didn't really have any neat-looking stitches so this is a nice change 😁
It's pretty time-consuming for me though, otherwise, it's super simple to do!
I hope the grandkids cherish them. I am sure your kids are old enough to appreciate how priceless something is that was hand made by their dad!!!!
Followed the introductions to best of my ability accidentally made it too small so instead i have a throw pillow that looks like ground beef
😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much !! I just finished my very first crochet project and i'm so proud and happy !
😮wow I’m just starting to learn and this video was very helpful ❤
Your tutorial is quite simple and easy to understand, but I just have one question. At 6:35 you say that we go up repeating this pattern. My question is which pattern exactly because when I keep doing the single crotchet, it has one rib-like part in the beginning and the rest of it looks flat, it does not look like a ribbed beanie. Please help me out.
Sounds like you were working in both loops? You’ll need to work in the back loop from row 2 for it to look ribbed.
@@CherilynQ It's working now, thank you for the help.
I am just 13 and i am amazed by these grandparents making these stuff for their grandchildren.. It's been just 2 days since i started crocheting.. I hope i can make this as a beginner.. Guess crochet doesn't have an age though😌💗
Edit : i tried it😭.. Processing.. 🥲💔
yes! I started crocheting 2 months ago, and it has a huge improvement for me
Keep going! It took me months to get it. You'll get it :)
Im only ten learning to crochet for the first time i love this its so easy to follow
Thank you so much for this!! Just made my first hat. It's all wonky because I missed some stitches but I'm excited to keep practicing :')
You are so welcome! 🥰
Thank you for this tutorial. I bought some wool yarn that I found on sale dirt cheap. I was thinking about making a beanie for my husband but I was intimidated.Your video is giving me the confidence to do it.
You're welcome! Really glad to help! 🥰
Y’all this chain part took me a while 😅 2:38
Thanks for your easy tutorial, I enjoyed crocheting it and my beanie turned out really good❤
I've been having a lot of issues with the turning, after the first chain, which of the back loops are we actually going to insert our hooks into, cause it's really confusing me here 😭
You have to turn your chain and there is a back loop there you have to insert your hook but if you can't find a back loop then you're doing something wrong watch the tutorial carefully you'll get it... Hope it helps:)
This was extremely helpful and very well taught!!! I feel a lot of crochet tutorials can be confusing but this was very simple and I have made a wonderful beanie ❤ Thank you!!!
Yay! I'm so happy it worked out for you! 😊
I just completed this beanie and I am very happy with it. Thank you.
Super przekaz 👍 piękna czapka 😊
We're a week away from christmas, I've never crocheted in my life but I want to make an orange beanie for my dad, so... I'll try my best!!
How many rows did it take for u?
I think she mentioned either 21 or 22 inch by measurement or depends on your head's circumference
66 she said..33 pairs
after trying to make a beanie twice and failing, i decided to follow this! it worked beautifully
Yay! I appreciate your persistence! So glad it worked out for you! 😊
Do you include the “turning stitch” when counting stitches? Trying to count but not sure whether the “chain 1” is where I start or if the first time I insert the hook on the new row is “one.” Thank you:)
The turning chain doesn't count as a stitch.
Thank you so much for the tutorial….. this my first beanie project and I could make it without much difficulty… you explain so well
I’m about to make so many of these for my boyfriend and dad 😅 also quick question: I have quiet a big head its looking kind of tight, at the beginning how many more should I do?
Make sure it’s long enough😊
This was an amazing informative video! I made my first beanie after less than a day because of these instructions! Thank you kindly for showing us how to do it!
Yay! I'm glad you like it!!
I really don't understand how to find the back loop when you're doing row 1 :(
One of my issues as well.
Thanks you for making such a detailed easy to follow video! I just finished my first beanie ever and I love it!
Yay! You're so welcome! 🥰
I can't do it at all
I promise you that you can do it .Put the video in slow motion̈.Try it even to practice the stitch, you will definitely get the hang of it. ❤
Ngl I’m still stuck on the sleight of hand on the slip knot
