This will be my first crochet project. I’ve started over several times. My biggest lesson learned with this is as you crochet, the panel tightens up resulting in the length shrinking. So I had to start with a longer braid than I needed to compensate for the shrinkage.
This actually isn’t because of the stitch if you’re a very beginner it’s probably bc your tension is off! It happens a lot with beginners and tbh this stitch is awful to start with for beginners bc it does require good consistent tension, try making a beanie with sc or dc first and practice squares to perfect ur tensions and edges!!
It's really easiest and comprehensible method of making beanie and i want to try it right now though I'mtotally blank in this respect...It's impressive..good job❤
You have saved me! I love this pattern as it’s stylish and fashionable. I’ve attempted doing it but I always ended up frustrated. I’ve just recently started crocheting and this was very easy and helpful 👌🏾✨
exactly my thought! I was thinking of a pattern for my cuffs for winter to hold my legs warm while wearing skirts. This is exactly the pattern I need for that. (minus the closing the top part obviously :D )
I made one using half double crochet because i’m too impatient to do the whole thing with a slip stitch and i love it! thanks for this video. I love the colour of yours! ❤
i did this tutorial and took me 1 week to complete where i only did maybe 1 hour a day (plus it is the first time i am holding crochet needle!) and final result was very satisying. thank you for the video
@@erikabetancourt2390 i learned by now that its way easier if u use a needle 1-2 sizes bigger and loosen ur tension a lot abd take breaks!!😭 take care of ur hands🥹
I just finish making this it was my first project it was so super easy and simple for follow thank you so much I'm making 4 of these for my friends (and I'm only 15 years old)!!
I had an uneven number of stitches somewhere, and the hat still turned out great! Luckily i used a multicolored, speckled, and textured yarn so no one noticed the mistake.
I made my first beanie with this tutorial!! The speed was perfect and the instructions were clear. Thank you for this great tutorial. I subscribed!! 💗🥰
Thank you so much!! I’m just getting back into crochet after about 6-7 years and I needed a good refresher. I decided to jump back in by making a Minnie Mouse and Spider-man hat for my husband’s little cousins (3 and 5) and I was soooo mad that I wasted my time on another video that skipped straight to the finished product with unclear instructions and no pattern. You just saved Christmas and I can’t thank you enough!! I can tell from this video that I’m gonna love your channel. Subscribing right now!!
I appreciate it! 😊 Hopefully my instructions are clear enough. You can go through the video before actually getting started to make sure. Also, like I said in the video, the sl st is more time consuming than other sts, so definitely use a thicker yarn or you can even change it to a taller stitch like BLO hdc. Really helps saving time.
@@CherilynQ Thank you so much for responding! Working on it now, as we speak. I’m a total insomniac. The only reason I’m doing it with a thinner yarn this time is because I’m sewing a patch on the front and I feel like it would look a little neater on smaller stitches. But I did, indeed, go through your video first and then again to make my notes and jot down your instructions like I usually do. My mistake with the last lady’s video was stopping once she got to the repeat rows and starting the work because I was anxious to jump in. When I came back to see where to go from there…well. LOL Again, thank you!!! You were PERFECTLY clear and I am so appreciative of your time!
Hi thanks for uploading this helpful video I like this video love the color you used and I like how clear it is will try making a hat for my cousin and for myself *^ thanks again for sharing really appreciate it
This video has changed my life 🥰😻💗 Now I can finally live my life to the fullest!!! I no longer experience suicidal thoughts 💞 You have gained a follower for life!!
This is awesome! Thanks for the tutorial. I'm finishing my beannie and I just realized somewhere on the beginning I lost a couple of stitches at the end (this is my first project ever!) So now the end is a bit shorter than the beginning. Is there anything I could do? This took me weeks, if I have to start over It wont be done by christmas 😢
8:02 Quick question, because I did one right and one wrong and now I’m struggling. When going under “both loops” from the beginning side of the hat, are you meaning two loops from that starting base chain, or the two loops from the actual first row of stitches?
Hey I have a question, I use a 3 mm yarn and a 3.25 mm hook, and my last hat had almost 60 chains of the above mentioned measurements. So should I crochet more chains or do it according to my head size and the last project? (Actually I'm a beginner and the hat I mentioned above is my first serious project other than some granny squares circles mats, I guess. Hope you understand and help me with this ❤!!
Hi! Sorry, I can't say how many chains you should do just based on numbers. All I can say is that it's the measurement the matters here. Chain as many as you need until it reaches the measurement you need.
I am quite new to crochet and your video seems doable as I really wanna make a beanie. But I wanna make it with wool so is it possible as the yarn would be much thinner and which hook should i use. Would appreciate your reply as i wanna start wt the project soon 14:27
this is my first time crocheting anything wearable and this tutorial was perfect thank you so much! question though, the two adult-sized beanies i made with this vid turned out amazing but i can't figure out what measurements to use for a child-sized one :> could i maybe have some guidance on that :]
Hi! Thank you! I don’t know much about child sizes; I mostly do made-to-measure but I’m sure there will be some guidance on beanie size online. Now that you know what the ch number and row count are for, it should be quite easy 😊
Hi! Thanks for the super helpful tutorials! I have one question tho maybe someone can answer but is it normal that as I go through the rows my rectangle isn't rectangling? 😭 Like it keeps getting smaller and smaller ? Thanks again 💗💗
I know this is super late so idk if it’ll be helpful, but Im having the same problem, I thiiiink it’s because the stitches are getting tighter because I’ve been stretching out the newer rows a bit and it’s been helping. This is my first time crocheting and I’m only about halfway done so I might not know what I’m talking about but it’s helped me. Good luck with yours!! 💗
Thank you! I think either you are missing stitches at the end of the row (possibly at the beginning), or your tension gets tighter and tighter, but please don't be discouraged - keeping a consistent tension could be challenging sometimes in my opinion. Just try to make your stitches as loose as you can.
I really want to make one of these for my Aunt who has cancer. I feel like she would absolutely love it. Where did you buy your yarn at? I have one passed on to me from my great grandmother who passed away last year, but it seems to be a lot thinner than yours on here.

Hi! I get that tweaking the chain count can be a bit tricky, but the real reason I'm nudging you toward chunky yarn is because of the stitch. It can work up really slowly if you go for a thinner yarn. You might even lose motivation before you finish the beanie.

can i use papatya big twist yarn and a 10mm hook to do this?
Is the height of the beanie 15inches when stretched or laying flat? Or does that not matter? Thanks in advance :)
Just lay flat, not stretched 😊
What kind of yarn could I use if i had a 4mm hook?
What if I want to make it a bobble hat/beanie? Will it be easy to add the bobble part to this project?

How do I avoid my ends rounding out as I add new rows? I feel like they never come out straight
This may be from accidentally missing/skipping a stick, causing the row to be short than the one before.. curving it
I'm new to crocheting. What does marking the 1st stitch help with?
It helps you find that 1st stitch when you come back. Slip stitches are really short so it might be hard for some people to tell the ch-1 at the beginning of the row from the 1st stitch.

Why the need for the stitch marker?
