  • If you saw part 1, we put the civic on the dyno .
    We tested the stock map v K+N drop in map and a custom tune.
    This time we install a Skunk2 header and a Hybrid racing Intake.

    Need a Rear motor mount.
    And then everything else starts. 08 tsx cam. Porter intake manifold. J35-37 throttle body . Rdx 410cc injectors. Hybrid racing fuel rail.
    K24 bottom end. All motor monster
    The possibilities is endless! Keep up the videos!!

      kontemp yes. That’s when it goes from 155 wtq to 200 wtq. Which makes the car feel so much better daily driving.

      Yup, I run HybridCAI, S2 Header, full race exhaust, J35tb + IM port match, RDX injectors, Hybrid fuel rail, P2r tbs, Coolant Bypass and the car pulls Hard from 4100 (vtec) I mean I can do 4th gear 60 roll ons and it just pulls on people.. so much mid range power.

    Things i dislike about LHT...
    1. LHT is not located anywhere near Los Angeles
    2. LHT is located in FL which is too far from Los Angeles
    3. There are about 8 states between Los Angeles and LHT
    4. There are 2,550 miles between Los Angeles and LHT
    5. It takes 1 day and 12 hours to drive from Los Angeles to LHT

    It's very nice to see the before and after effects on the dyno of each of the mods. Like other channels, we only see dynos after a bunch of stuff is install. I installed some boomba mounts. Surprised nobody mentioning those. Cheaper than Hasport, but seems to do the same. Keep the 8th gen content coming! Thank you!

    Nice build. Did a Ktuned header and clutch package on my BIL's Mugen, he also has the K&N jntake. Installed the Hasport rear mount with the header, stiffened it right up. 👍

    Subbed for the mugen, and tasteful mods. being a mugen owner myself. I do recommend the oem front lip. When mugen designed this body kit they used a wind tunnel to increase the velocity of air under the car for function. They claim it increases pressure from air over the car to keep it planted.

    I am a huge fan of Hasport engine mounts. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Brian from Hasport at insightfest, great guy and stands behind his work. I know you guys at LHT are big fans of the honda insight, so you know for future swaps Hasport now makes a K20 mount kit for it. I just bought a set to replace my inferior innovative mounts.

    I used some Piece's from Dodge ram 1500 Grey Battery Blanket and laid it on the bottom tray and the side of the CAI hybrid racing battery Tray to help keep the battery warm. CAI Hybrid is amazing CAI! That's such a Gem that Blue Mugen.

    You guys did a head gasket on my 99 ex coupe with the greddy turbo kit back in the early early 2000's. I have a FA5 now and hope to be bringing that to y'all here soon for some hondata goodness.

    Hey guys, just for input on the brakes, I did the tsx caliper pads and rotors up front, direct bolt up, oem Honda parts, and they are bigger, maybe something to look into, mine work great! Keep it up!

    I've been loving the Mugen si videos! On my 8th gen si, I have the skunk2 cold air intake, skunk2 header and skunk2 megapower R catback tuned on flashpro. I have the hasport bottom and top mounts and those help tremendously. For brakes, I reccomend the TSX calipers, pads and rotors. Direct bolt on solution with a thicker rotor, larger caliper and larger pads. Looking forward to see what you guys do!

    Amazing choice with HR intake! I literally got 226whp - 170t with just HR intake and Skunk 2 exhaust. I recommend a 3 inch exhaust for full bolt ons and power 👌

      so you saying that your civic si only have HR cold air intake and Skunk2 headers and tune with flash pro and gain 226 whp which equal to 278 hp to the crank that's a gain of 81 hp from factory. If that is so, it's pretty impressive.

    Great content had similar intake hot air temps on B series removing the air resonates and allowing air thou resulted in temps from 130 to 90 hondata s300

    Have this intake on an 8th gen. During highway cruising IATs are usually 2-3 degrees CELSIUS above ambient temperature. During wot pulls + 2 degrees. Comparable figures with stock airbox were + 6 degrees.

    Very nice! I run the same stuff HybridCAI, S2 alpha header but I run the Full race 3" exhaust... Get the Hasport Rear mount will fix up that header raddle 100%..

    Nice, you got the HR intake. It sounds so nice uh? I would get the Hasport rear engine mount asap and don't drive your car hard until you install it. The extra flex could crack the welds on your header. You pretty much need to replace the rear engine mount when you do your header. Love the videos, keep them coming. I'm likely going to do your brake package on my 8th gen when the stocks need replacing, but in the meantime I'm looking at replacing the TB in the spring for a J37.

      George Fitzgerald I bet! I got my si tuned 3 days ago but one of our best timers down here in Miami. Made 239 on 93. Not bad imo for a 9th gen. I desperately was trying to get ahold of LHT because I wanted to have my tune done there but as always. No luck. Even hit you guys up on ig. Still no luck. :Shrugs:

    Use the Hybrid Racing mounts. Trust me for the price, the quality and fit & finish is spot on. Ive used Hasport many times in the past, but Hybrid seems to have the best vibration free bushings on the market!!

    Wait till you drive it on a 20 degree morning in the fall..... those k20s react to cold air like no engine I've ever seen before.... you can gain a little bit more by setting your valve lash just a smidge tighter than stock recommendation..... (a smidge!)

    Yow two are real craftsman and i always enjoy your vidios . How about maybe trying an electric ehxaust cutout on the stock catback. I put one on a 2004 S2000 years ago and it really sounded awesome and when i wanted quiet just close the valve. kinda surprised that these are`nt used more often.

    I got the pleasure of riding in a Brand new mugen civic back in 07/08 great car but the guy was showing off an about but us in the ditch lol and with the price tag of $700+ a month he almost puked.... cant wait to see what all George has planned for this one

    You need the fdrr and the fgupp from hasport, I have the fgupp and fg4rr on my 14 si, it's all you need.

    It’s nice to see some 8thgen content. I’m more than sure you guys know how to build a 3 inch exhaust on the quiet side. Then invidia q300 is well known for its quiet nature but it’s 2.75 inch and that just doesn’t maximize the potential power, so people commonly get the full race/thermal r&d exhausts which are manufactured by the same people. The only difference is that thermal has an adjustable tip.

    What are your thoughts regarding building a little shield to help keep the air filter dry? I've had a few cold air intakes in the past and they always seemed to get soaked just from driving normally in the rain. I live in Washington so it rains quite a bit. The Washington rain isn't as intense as Florida rain but it feels like we see more rain days than dry days.
    I have a 9th Gen Civic Si with a short ram intake, during the summer IAT can get upwards 130 degrees. I'd like to switch to a cold air intake, which is why I asked the question.

    The full race 3" exhaust for these cars sounds amazing and isn't very loud! I made 226whp in my fa5 with the same intake and header with the full race exhaust.

    Did you consider adding reflective gold heat tape to intake manifold and cold air intake to further reduce the air temp going into the engine?

    George should do the heavy duty gear selector springs it like $20 and makes a world of difference in the shifter play. maybe some good content and maybe a EM1 CMC?

      @@tannercherko8802 the gear selector spring with take out a good bit of play so will the shift cable bushings there pretty cheap mods and make a good and noticeable difference. Takes a good amount of play out

    Intake temperature can be decreased with these parts too
    *Delete coolant bypass through the throttle body
    *Throttle Body Thermal Gasket
    *Intake Manifold Thermal Gasket

      I bypassed the tb coolant when I did the intake I may port the intake manifold then I will do the Hondata gasket

      Your Si is limited due to "MUGEN." I recommend sandwiching that HONDATA gasket w/ 2 OEM intake manifold gasket for a piece of mind. The manifold coolant jacket will be walled off from seeping.

    Good gains George and John, nice! Was very interesting watching you cover the IAT temps, I have this on my main dash along with Coolant temps,Boost and AFR. Living in AZ the IAT gets up there for sure and I avoid boost for the most part. When the car was on the dyno and George was able to monitor the stock WB against the dyno WB and you guys were getting the same AFR, this is what I was seeing too with a AEM WB VS stock WB through the Torque PRO app so decided to remove the AEM and just run the digital gauge on the dash, same with a physical VAC/Boost gauge for a cleaner interior.
    In the previous episode when George showed the app being Hondata I wanted to know more of its capabilities but in this video it appears it is just a rebranded version of Torque/Pro, does it actually have any advantage over Torque or intergraded with Flash Pro? Also would be a good video if you are able to implement oil temp and pressure into the OBDII COM port with custom PID's and get those to show up on the dash, I've been wanting to do that for a while.

      lcq4blackstar the Hondata app on this unit isn’t customizable and I’m now using torque pro exclusively. I haven’t looked into adding other sensors but I may start after reading this.

      @@georgefitzgerald5861 Thanks for the follow up George, that is a bummer as it appears to be a skinned version of Torque from what I saw in the vid. Once you get Torque Pro dialed in it is a game changer IMO on having a clean solution for monitoring the engine without all the clutter of aftermarket gauges all over the car as I previously had. Keep us updated how you get on with Torque Pro and if you get some of those custom PID's to work with added sensors, there is a Torque forum that may be of some help. You can also do some add ons to Torque Pro called "Torque Scan" and "Knock Detector" that will be of use. You can also do datalogs with the Torque Pro app that is a nice feature when not logging with a Flash Pro, I wish I had more time to invest on the PID's.

      @@georgefitzgerald5861 George, just giving it some quick thought I would imagine it should/could work something like this... On my car I have EGR and Secondary O2 sensor disabled in Flash Pro, from these two I could use the harness for these two to feed the oil pressure and temp sensor respectively. On the app side I would need to route the raw data (0-5V) and apply a scaler to convert to the respective sensor scaler data (temps) and (pressure), I don't know if that is possible with the app but this is how I did it on my motorcycle ECM to convert the stock NB to WB data for logging and road tuning, unfortunately in that project the O2 sensor must be disabled in the ECM as the ECM firmware parameters would need to be scaled to make use of the sensor on its own. This is why choosing the disabled sensors in the car application is ideal.

    I got a good question for you guys I have a 09 Honda Civic lx 1.8 it’s automatic but I took off the resonator added a skunk2 exhaust and added a dc short ram intake if I buy the Hondata can I tune my automatic car or does the device only work on stick shift cars? Awesome video btw!

      Jean Bonilla it’s great. The interior is a huge upgrade over the 8th&9th gen. It’s nice having low end torque also. All I have done is intake, intercooler and hondata stage 1 tune. It really woke the car up.

      Gianni R it’s a daisata unit I think they have universal double din units I’m not sure if they have an rsx specific unit

    Is the motor mounts required because of the extra power it’s making or is it because unlike the stock header that has a donut gasket and allows the engine to move without moving the rest of the exhaust to much? The header is 3 feet long and bolts directly to the head so the slightest movement of the engine will cause the other end of the header that bolts to the existing part of the exhaust to move 3 inches. I don’t like after market mounts. Everything vibrates

      IWORKYOUWATCH is like to keep the vibrations to a minimum but with the extra midrange power it has it spins the tires in first /second and wheelhops

    Hybrid Racing over Skunk2 every day of the week. I have over 10 Hybrid Racing parts on my Integra Type R and can't fault them so far. I bought a Skunk2 Ultra Street Inlet manifold and will never buy anything Skunk2 again. Personal opinion of course.

      Garth Leach Most lawn mowers are one or two cylinder engines. They are typically designed to make their power at very low rpms, around 2000-2500rpms. I own a Honda mower and don’t think it sound close at all.

    Great series lads
    Would it be worthwhile doing recording braking times with OEM first for a baseline and then a timed run with AM components?
    Dont have to do it ultra accurate but something to reference would be ace!!!
