- So we sent the Throttle Body to MaxBore.com and tried it on the car.
We didn't expect really any gains as the throttle body is larger than the opening on the manifold, Plus, The manifold could use porting to take advantage of the additional air flow.
We also did a surprise dyno at the end.
I like seeing these back to back tests on what works and what doesn’t. Love the videos, keep them coming

btw SBS performance (and many others) cut open and port RBC intake manifolds. Would be cool to see that paired with the ported throttle body.

The way I see it every 1-2 hp gain adds up over time(not that 2 hp is worth an ear piercing exhaust). I'm always saying the same thing about weight reduction too, sure removing something that only weighs a couple pounds won't do much, but if you maintain that mindset across the entire build it ends up being significant.
Ryan Absolutely. Small changes add up. 1 to 2 HP gains by trying small changes help determine what works.
Rough surface treatment on the intake runners helps tumble. Those dimpled intake ports are proven to work. The plenum itself, you have the right idea.
I love the gunmetal Mugen GP wheels on this color.

George please supercharge the mugen. I haven't found one on UA-cam so you would be the first. Funny cause I have the 8th gen and I asked you guys if you had this car what would you do to it and both of you said you would supercharge it. It was a long time ago when you did a Q&A. That would be amazing if you went down that path. Plus you can always just put it back to stock. #Superchargerthemugen.

I have a 3" exhaust on my type R FD2 and its quiet, it has two massive silencers, made by solidfab in the UK, look up the track friendly exhaust, they also make it in titanium

I wonder how much less power if you remove the throttle body spacer? Seems to me the trottle body spacer made more power than the max bore service. That spacer is cheaper than the bored out throttle body.
Keep in mind , if the engine can’t ingest anymore air, a longer opening won’t show result. Also, if the exhaust isn’t a restriction, a large exhaust won’t show gains .

So basically throttle mods do very little without the head being ported along with the intake manifold and bigger valves
Why not go with a J35 or J37 throttle body, It is Oem?

I had the j37 and the j35. The j37 was a beast
The only real downfall he said would be the long term effects of using double the amps for the j37 than th Si. I have heard great things about the j37 but only a test will actually prove something.
Im running a j37 throttle body with a ported RBC port match to the j37 tb (by SBS) going on 3 years now without an issue
I wonder if George has the knocking eps rack. My fa5 is perfect and entirely stock but the front right of the rack has a little play. If you shake the wheel with your hand as if your checking for tie rod play you hear a little knocking. To bad you can’t replace the bushings that are inside the rack like on a typical hydraulic one.

Use only oem filter. When you order them in bulk they come with gasket, also tq plug to 39ftlbs. Failure to replace the crush gasket will crack your oil pan. Note how his looks, it will wedge into pan and fracture.
Vtec Banger We see the washer blown out all the time. Never seen a cracked pan but I can see how it could.

I’m going to guess the mugen exhaust doesn’t have the bottleneck at every flange like the regular Si does. I’ve noticed a smaller diameter at the flanges versus everywhere else on the piping on my OEM exhaust. Does the mugen one not have it?

You can use the S2000 oil filters on the K series motors.

This was cool...the exhaust test for example...but is it just me or did the car not get tuned for the difference? or was that something off camera? Isn't the entire point of a free flowing exhaust to allow more air in and out so more fuel and more ignition timing without the knock...?

Is the gasket he provides a paper one? Im planning on sending my 2008 acura tsx throttle body to him.
It seams close to the paper like material like the OEM ones

We sent the spacer so Maxbore could match it. Turns out it was large enough.
@@LHTPerformance ok u might be losing a little performance by having the spacer still at 60 mm....u might want to do a little hand porting on the spacer

I dyno today too, I had some issues with my first tune, I made 221hp first but I retuned today and made 232hp 183tq , very happy with these numbers and I'm still running short rim intake k&n
