I'm definitely going to give this a go. I have horrific issues with bingeing and you kind of made me think about how I look at food; you said the 'pleasure center of your day' and that's absolutely how I look at food. Thank you for the inspiration!
+FatMenace weekly on fridays, except i weighed myself on tuesday this week because i guessed all the media would be asking me. today I weighed in and I've now dropped 14kgs! Thats four kilos just this week! Getting back into exercise has made a big difference! By the way I haven't told anyone my weigh in result from this morning yet, your the first :-)
Thanks Andrew, I've watched all your videos more then once and wanting more. You are such an inspiration... Your channel keeps me on track and keeps me motivated...
I've just completed 4 days of the spud challenge, and l by day 3 I was almost comatose! I had 2 eggs, and the felt better. Next day, felt 100% better! There isn't enough protein or fat for my body. I can't risk my hair falling out either! But I'll keep going, but with 2 eggs added, and a bowl of chicken & vegetable soup ( home made ) and I know I'll thrive. Dude, you look like you're dying in this video! This diet definitely helps with lipodema too!
people (including already lean people) regularly do extended water fasts without having the troubles you described. 4 days only potatoes is not much, certainly not enough to develop some kind of protein or fat deficiency.
@@SpudFit - thanks for your reply! OK, yeah, it's definitely my body, I'm not well. I have all sorts of energy issues, gallstones , fibromyagia, chronic fatigue...
@@elainemcdonald4117 all the best, I hope you find a solution. I know that The Spud Fit Challenge has helped people with gallstones and fibro but I haven't worked with anyone with chronic fatigue as yet...
I have to agree. As a binge eater for over 30 years, eating just potatoes (not 100%, I have snuck in some broccoli here and there late at night) but my entire mentality has shifted in just 9 days. Before doing this, there was so much noise in my head, and I would eat beyond sickness. Ye,t that nasty static in my mind has tamed itself. I'm just over a week in, I don't know, I could go back to old behaviour, however, this is a feeling I've never remembered experiencing. Whatever it means, I am content and grateful. You really broke the glass ceiling discovering and sharing this idea. I am having greater success than when I read the book, "Brain over Binge."
Good for you dude. I just read about your challenge on the Daily Mail. I'm a vegan too. I love salsa on my potatoes and pico de gallo! Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Potatoes have more than enough protein to keep you healthy. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3428356/Man-food-addiction-vows-eat-POTATOES-year-weight-rocketed-151kgs.html
Loved the interlude...keeps it real. I've been on this a week now. I've been a vegan for a longtime, but still overweight and thinking about food all the time. I kind of fell into High Carb Hannah's youtube channel at just the right time...then heard your story. I'm very excited to be part of this challenge..excited to see if this helps me stop thinking of food all the time.
Ok I think I'm up to date with the videos, in fact I "binged" watched them ha-ha. I have decided to do a 30 day challenge for now. A question or two if I may? 1) how are your energy levels? I do not have a physically demanding job but I'm on the move all day. 2) Is it ok if I share my photos of spuds and the way I have prepared them on your facebook page? Keep up with the great work mate Cheers Rob
+ROB DAVIS My energy levels are off the charts! I've started exercising because i need to burn some off. AS long as you eat all you want and don't restrict at all I think you'll have plenty of energy. No prob sharing on my Facebook page, actually I'd love that! Good luck!
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing your journey with us! I know what you mean about eating for fuel and not all of the other reasons (I used to be a stress eater, a celebration eater, a lonely eater, an angry eater, an anxiety eater, you name it!). This method of yours is a way to cut away all of the distractions of "tantalizing" tasty foods, takes away the emphasis on making every meal super-delicious and instead simply eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full. Such a basic concept but feels unreachable for many people. You verbalized it great!
Really enjoying the vids you've made thus far. I can see changes even in just this short time. Keep it up! Really looking forward to seeing your progress. Any way you would make a vid including your blood tests and maybe an updated one in the near future?
+Joshua Martin (Jmart) Yes I've got blood test booked for the start of April. I was going to make one of my blood test that I had done on day 6 but i thought that might be pointless without another one to compare it to...
This is a great thing you are doing for all of us ! Here in Florida I will be following your progress. I am a Starchavor , as I go by the McDougall plan of eating, for 3 years now. I think somewhere in John McDougalls information he talks about ( I think ? ) vitamin A and vitamin C being the only extra nutrients needed on a all potato diet. I could find that link, or video for you if you would like. See Ya ! George in Florida
Is great you're already starting to see changes in your eating habits. Curious, what led you to chose this "diet" over others? were you plant-based/vegan beforehand?
+Elle Ⓥ yes I've been vegan for around 8 years I think. My first video is a pretty good explanation of why I'm doing this but I think I'll make another one soon to make it all clearer. It would take too much to explain it all here though...
This is like an alcoholic one drink is never enough, same with food addiction, it is never enough no matter how much you put down. Stand up so we can see the results of a months worth of spuds?
I think you have to give context when you talk about foods that you felt you had to keep stuffing in until you were sick. I know exactly what you are talking about and I'm sure a huge portion of your audience does as well because if you are eating the standard american diet you find that so much of the real binge/gorge food that is a party in your mouth just doesn't fill you up until you have ingested massive amounts and that is why everyone is so huge, but on the other hand if you are eating plant based treats like ripe mangoes or whatever your favorite fruits are you can still have that ambrosia like/party in your mouth feeling and still feel great about what you are eating and that is truly a great feeling, especially when you have been battling food and weight your whole life.
I've noticed the same thing. I love potatoes but I have no desire to binge eat them. I have a major sweet tooth as well but eating sweet potatoes helps with that.
Foodgasms - perfect description! I totally relate to the binge eating. I am actually starting the potato cleanse tomorrow - I had some food I needed to finish up or it would have gone to waste. I would like to know specifics about what you eat. I want to keep it simple, but tasty, so maybe in future videos you could share what you ate - such as mashed potatoes and what you put on them. Just a thought. BTW: you are looking great.
+Spud Fit Hiya, Before whiskey existed there was poitín. It’s Ireland’s gift to the world, one of the first spirits ever to be distilled. There are loads of recipes on the web ... basic ingredients are spuds, sugar beet, water and coarsely milled barley. Not certain if the sugar beet falls under the spud family... Here is a good link: www.glendaloughdistillery.com/poitin-the-original-irish-spirit.
Ah G'day, Nice 1 Mate. Looking forward to your new book due to arrive Monday, Really digressed with everything I've seen or read about you TTFN , Anthony (Dublin )Ireland
I certainly hope you're eating organic, potatoes have the most pesticide residue per weight than any other produce! You might want to educate people about this in your video as you seem to be inspiring people.
Mikke Caber Well, there's this thing called water. It has a habit of picking up stuff and depositing it elsewhere, say the tubers underground. Plants also do this thing where they take up water. It's actually really quite simple if you stop and actually think.
Only thing is, what is it picking up? And have you ever tried to get water deep into soil? And then whatever that water is carrying has to make it all the way to the potato through the soil with the soil not catching any of it and then it has to stay on in the soil through the harvest and cleaning and washing. The benefit of eating potatoes demolishes any worry that there may be a micro amount of pesticide residue.
Mikke Caber you've never grown potatoes have you? They are not deep in the soil, in fact you have to keep mounding the soil to keep them covered. Do yourself a favour and go read the science journals instead of waxing philosophical with limited knowledge.
I love potatoes! And I think what you're doing is awesome. I'm working on my food addiction as well. Everyone has their own way of going about things and their own version of "healthy." I've been living a whole30 lifestyle since last October. Maybe after your year of only potatoes you could look into whole30! The affect food has on our brains and our hormones is crazy. Having food freedom is a wonderful thing and I wish you the best of luck on your journey!
