Mmmmm Footnote Cracking trimming of the goatie this episode Richard .. great stuff
Fully agree with you Mark regarding the auto safety, I’m thinking of removing the connection rod on mine to turn it in manual safety only…. But I do have no problem with the 8 shot “only” magazine (do you remember ?, it’s not that much long ago we all had to break barrels with more or less effort, finger flicky pellets into the barrel and after a quick single shot, do the same procedure over and over again… 😉). Yes, most other pcp’s have higher capacity, but 8 isn’t already not bad and I do prefer to have a slightly lower shot count before I have to switch magazines since they just flip in like hot knife into butter (unlike HW110), or take twice as long to be filled up (as those spring and flip cover equipped ones, who in plus are much less resistant and tend to jam sooner or later). I didn’t check the price yet, but can also imagine that due to its simplicity, the Rotex magazine costs less and you can get some of them in your pocket for the same price as maybe much less from the spring loaded ones… Another plus of the RM8 : the magazine is fully inside the breech, unlike some others who build up high above, are subject to be scratched away and also need higher mounts for the scopes. This is particularly true for my thermal vision, which sticks close to the barrel and therefore is much less subject to corrections for different ranges.
Cheap stock. Bolt action. No one that's been around guns likes to see a moldline top and bottom of the stock. And with the smooth easy side lever action makes a bolt out dated for pellet guns, at least small bore guns to medium. Also mag manipulation causes more movement to get the task of changing magazine done. We like larger mag capacity as well.
