Having just bought an RM8 1.77..the pellets that outclassed everything else were the H&N Barracuda light 9.57 grain 4.50. pellet on pellet ... close second came the JSB exact 8.44 grain.
Hello Michael , I know it can ! Believe me, I’ve had to do it with my rifles so know how frustrating it can be. Not only that though, I actually enjoy doing it, as my mate Keith said, “You’ve got the best job ever” Thanks for watching David
Good evening David, I've got the 177 version, I think it's the varmint version, and I've found it likes most of the JSB pellets, but her favourite is the Bisley magnums, she's a tack driver, can't wait for the foxing video coming up 😎
Hi matey, hope you’re well chap? The new owner collected his rifle yesterday afternoon and before we went across to the range, I showed him the Napier cleaning snake kit I’ve got. I cleaned the barrel with a dry patch first to see if it would come out soiled, then put through a few with cleaning solution on, then finally one sprayed with GT85 On the range, I had to just recheck zero with two shots. First was low at 8 O’clock, second went through the bull. That left 6 shots on the magazine , the owner took over then, and put all 6 through the same hole in the bull ! 🫵👊 Needless to say, he went home a very happy chap.
Hi Dave, really good advice for people using that rifle, I commend your patience going through all those pellets, and thank you for your advice on the army sling and attachment, brilliant,,👍🤠
Hi Danny, how’s the rat hunting going? Keep trying chum and remember to put down some lentil soup for a few days to get them used to it, before setting up your ambush🥷👍 Good luck and don’t forget your free hour on our range. David
Hi, thanks for an informative video. I've had an RM8 Varmint .177 since 2019 when I bought it 2nd hand about a year old. Lovely consistent rifle, and from my own experience not "pellet fussy". I've always used AA Diabolo Fields, with good results, but I'll maybe give the premier's a try for comparison. Cheers.
I tried numerous pellets through my RM8 (.22). By far the best for target work Air Arms Diablo Field. 2nd, but extremely close, JSB Hades, very good for pest control even out to 40 yards.
Hello Pete , I expect a lot of owners will all gave their choice of pellet , but this was just based on what I’d tried and tested in new rifles. As I mentioned , the results could change as the barrel beds in👍 Cheers matey David
Yes it is, when the new owner collected it, I cleaned the barrel with GT85, took two shots to rezero, then he put the remaining 6 through my second hole in the bull👍
Great video and the winning pellet is surprising. Given all the brands on the market. Thanks for the squirrel reference. Almost forgot Fox and Gray squirrel season opens tomorrow. Been waiting to thin them out before they cause a lot of damage. Hope your next hunt goes well.
Yes the USA. The bit of bizarro state of Michigan at least hunting wise to you. We can hunt red squirrel year round but Jays are protected for couple. Enjoy your adventures and humor.@@predatorprotectionuk
@@ericwood3886 I’ll swap you a boat load of Greys for some Reds 😁 Our native Red population is very limited now, due to the larger Grey. Have a great day my friend👍😁
Not bad in my RM8 but not a patch on RWS Superdomes, found out by accident, when I took the wrong pellets to the range, .177 sub 10mm group at 35 yards, the Hollowpoints managed 13mm, same gun same barrel but likes different pellets, makes no sense but there it is.🤣 indoor range, bench rested by the way before I get any s#it posting.
Hi Michael, Well done on those results, barrels are strange things eh? Folks that come and use our range at the shop all have their favourites, but I found the Premiers were good to start with a new rifle 👍 Cheers, and thank you for watching
Hello chum, The air rifle range is in Buckinghamshire. HP18 9RG You don’t have to be a member, it’s £12 per lane per hour. I’m not at work there at the moment due to just getting out of hospital, but it’s open 👍
Hey Chris , I use a Napier pull through cleaning tool, it’s the nylon cable with a braided loop on, that I have to push down from the end of the barrel, easier if the moderator is removed first. Once the loop pops out of the breech, I put a cloth with a bit of Napier cleaning solution on, and slowly draw that out the barrel, then repeat with a dry patch , and again with a patch sprayed with GT85 .
Hello chap, I don’t know the answer to your question but I’m working at the shop today so I’ll try to find out for you. Best Fittings, might have something in their carbon fibre range for it?
I've had both .177 & .22 walther rm8's & in both I found the bsa interceptor @ 40yrds to be an excellent pellet for accuracy. Remember to clean out the barrel after every 100 shots or the accuracy will suffer. Tom
crossmans did nothing in my Rm8, groups at 30m are 40mm and more fliers than Farmborough airshow 😒 Changed to rws super domes same range groups 20mm max
I just got them pellets for my walther rm8 uc they are crap they come out 20fps to slow can see gaps around the pellets in the mag what a joke dont waste your money people air arms diabolo are amazing even the hunter ones are amazing even at 60 yards
Hello chap , Thanks for writing in, all I can say is that the tin I used worked perfectly well, but as with most mass produced products, quality will vary. Guns can also vary greatly too. Glad you’re sorted with your chosen pellets though 👍👍
Have one in 177 JSB exact AIR ARMS in 8.4 in both superb and the HADES 10.34 I've been trying to find a rat that can tell me about them down range but they don't want to talk for some reason(don't know what's going on in their heads) neither do they
Hi Michael, All I had mate, was my phone , and as I went over to do the check, I thought about actually filming the process . I don’t carry all the other cameras I use in videos with me all the time, or I’d have set something up. Thanks for watching David

Prems are utter rubbish we were shooting proper prems 1250 in the box back in the 90s for FT to national level wouldn't touch these now JSB or Air arms are far more consistent thought most barrels and i have a RM8 in 177 it's my primary tool for rat's and rabbit and I use JSB ultra shock or hades both 10.34 grain pellet on pellet at 30yards and if the sun ever comes out again and i can get the night scope off for my 3x12x50 then 8.4 JSB out to over 60 yards. As a point of interest I've swapped the steel cylinder for the best fittings 220cc carbon bottle 20cc more air but nearly 5oz off the front of the rifle don't sound like much but it's a lot when it's out front and well worth the investment
