There's no denying it doesn't happen, no matter how hard we try to avoid it. Thankfully I was able to finish that rabbit out quickly. Thanks for watching.
As always, good shooting Richard and thanks for your comments, they’re always helpful. Your review of the RM8 was well interesting Matt and have read good things about those Walther barrels. Thanks for a great video guys 👍
I have owned and used an early version of the RM8 for a good few years and agree with your positive comments. However you didn't mention that it is fully regulated which gives excellent shot to shot consistency, although I have had to replace an internal o-ring which failed a couple of years ago, something I've heard others have experienced also. Used to be £399 for the magnificent minelli wood stock version but still good value.
Nice shooting & a very nice looking pcp. Im out in California & our ground sqarels are about as big as those bunnies. I shoot a 25 cal dreamline pushing 40 ft lbs it does the job very nicely.
Excellent choice for a sub £500 gun but a little heavy. I would recommend bsa scorpion ts / kral np03 or gamo coyote instead. Walther do a version with a lighter receiver but its only available in mainland Europe.
You're right, it is a little heavy and maybe not a great choice for smaller shooters. That additional weight seems to be indicative of its solid build quality, though. Thanks for watching. Mat
Have they solved the barrel problem as I’ve understood and seen on other sites that the barrel needs cleaning on a regular basis as it was affecting accuracy in a big way?
Hi Jonathan. Like Mat, I've shot an RM8 UC for several years. I can't say the barrel needs cleaning any more often than my other rifles. And its plenty accurate for rat, squirrel and rabbit control. In fact, my local club has three RM8s which it uses as club guns and they provide excellent service.
Hi Jonathan. I've put thousands of shots through mine. Barrel has not been cleaned since it was new, and it is still very accurate. Thanks for watching. Mat
Find mine super accurate, im no where near getting 160 shots though maybe 90 before it gets to 100 bar and performance drops.Could this be a fault? Cheers for any advice love watching the shows
I’m thinking of buying a r m 8 watt are the pros and cons and should I buy one. What r the pros and cons i her that seals can be a problem. I’m a springer shooter I’m currently shooting a tx 200 m3 advice please😊
We will try to line up some more hunting with spring guns. The aim of the show is to show how Rich and I approach our airgun hunting, and the truth is that we do most of it with PCPs. Thanks for watching. Mat
Hi Jay. Do you mean the tripod I was using in the hunting segment? If so, its readily available at all good gun shops. Try a search for 'Roetex Ranger Tripod'. Thanks for watching.
What I don't like about the RM8 is the safety which goes on every time you pull the bolt back. The bolt itself is really stiff and the shot count in .177 isn't great. I will admit though that it's a really accurate rifle and reliable.
The bolt on my UC runs a lot smoother than the one on one of the earlier versions, so there appears to have been some refinement. Like you, I did initially find the auto safety a bit frustrating, but I quickly got used to it. Thanks for watching. Mat
I think that's a great idea donating the extra meat to the aviary! I don't hand that problem. My dog Charlie will eat any wild game, cooked or raw.😊 He is a very spoiled dog.
Lucky Charlie! My yellow lab, also Charlie, was partial to basically anything he could get in his mouth! Personally I find it hard to kill anything simply for the sake killing it - even pests. With a few exceptions (rats, corvids and ferals), everything I shoot is consumed by me/family/friends or birds of prey.
Giving shot quarry to the birds of prey centre is a brilliant idea, and something a lot of shooters could probably do. Sounds like you have a grateful outlet for your meat, though. Thanks for watching. Mat
Hold under? The only time I have EVER held under for a 12ftlb rifle with a standard 8g to 9g pellet is when shooting uphill, downhill or with a tailwind.
I bet you miss loads too 🤣. Good job you came on here to tell this bloke, whose probably shot more things than you've had hot dinners, where he's going wrong.
It would be helpful if this show's team could research facts about the proposed lead ammunition ban, from industry and representatives, to ascertain the current position. Presently, too much unhelpful speculation.
Hi Marcus. I have been quite closely involved with the consultation. As yet, there is no clarity on what the outcome might be, though it is hoped that there will be no change for airgun ammunition. My line is that airgun shooters should be prepared to go lead-free when there is a substitute that gives similar performance at a similar price. As yet, I do not believe that the alternatives stand up to that test. Hopefully common sense will prevail. Thanks for watching. Mat
I like that you showed the less clean shot, it gives a realistic look into the sport. You also calmly showed even the experts aren't perfect.
There's no denying it doesn't happen, no matter how hard we try to avoid it. Thankfully I was able to finish that rabbit out quickly. Thanks for watching.
It happens to us all, Sean. The important thing is to sort it quickly and calmly, as Rich does here.
Thanks for watching. Mat

Thanks very much Nick. And thanks for watching.
Thanks Nick. The RM8 is a remarkable gun for the money.
All the best. Mat

17:16 Pay attention.
It is a very good gun for the money. As stated, I mention the reg and consistency at around 17:16.

It's nice to see you back on the show Richard. Great job with those rabbits.
Never far away William! Thanks for watching.

Bought my rm8 with scope moderator 3 litre at the gun room Plymouth for £549 great tack driver
Is a super stroke pump suitable for this rifle😊
That's a great setup for a great price.

@@richsaunders6515 cheers buddy for that and my question answered, I’m after a mid priced ratter in 22 so one of these just may fit the bill.

@@ShootingCountryTV Thanks for that Matt, I’m seriously thinking about getting one now.

Stick with the tx200. Superb gun.
I have had no problems with the seals on my RM8 in the four years that I have been using it.

@@ShootingCountryTV thank u mat for feedback regards
Sub 12, well done Rich,
I am looking to buy this gun and watching as many reviews as i can before i pick one up
I wish you would do more hunting and shooting with spring piston rifles. Personally, PCP's seem very boring to me.
😂and I can't justify a $5000 squirrel gun!❤
Yup.. I use a hw95k and does a great job.
I bet you can outshoot everyone with your springer too.

I have a question how I can order this RM8 and send to holland it’s really difficult right?
where can you by the rifle mount

May help to put those outdoor rubber road mats down to help the wheelchairs.
That's an awful lot of rubber mats! Shooting the rabbits has the additional benefit of feeding the birds. Thanks for watching.
I’m doing something wrong crawling around on my belly to get one or two a session. You sit waiting for a bus as bright as you like and bag five!
Hold under? The only time I have EVER held under for a 12ftlb rifle with a standard 8g to 9g pellet is when shooting uphill, downhill or with a tailwind.
You'll need hold under when shooting closer than your zero - ie rats around a farm can be anything from 40 - 5 yards.... basic.
I bet you miss loads too 🤣. Good job you came on here to tell this bloke, whose probably shot more things than you've had hot dinners, where he's going wrong.
Another one who knows better 😂
👍👍👍👍
I was thinking about one of them until you mentioned the automatic safety, that puts me off.
It can be changed from auto to manual relatively easy
@@davidkelly212 Thank you for that information.

More like 90 full power shots
The gun looks hideous
