I am a huge John Barry fan, deeply love a majority of his works. This piece to me is among his most beautiful. The man could move me to tears. His music transends mere sound. I do miss him.
Too right. Somewhere in Time, Walkabout, and OHMSS (closing credits) always makes my eyes heat up. Only Morricone (Bye Bye Colonel) comes close to affecting me in the same way
Most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. I've listened to this score probably over 2,000 times over the the years and years and each time is like hearing it for the first time. John Barry must have been to heaven and back.
This is what I would expect to hear in heaven- it's pure etheral beauty. Sounds almost like no mere motal could compose it. Barry was "The Genius" as I like to call him.
The greatest thing about Bond films is the escapism and this is such a fine piece of music which only enhances that point even further, just wish I was around to see it on the big screen at the time and sink into my seat and sit in awe and wonder
Simply breath-taking this one. I used to watch Moonraker as a kid to watch this part of the film and this theme. I loved it as a 6 year old and still like it 43 years later. Simply timeless....
Moonraker was plagued with problems during production and didn't get a favourable response from the press upon release.... But it's my favourite Bond film...it has everything, brilliant villain in Drax, amazing villains lair in the rain forest pyramid, action galore and outer space base and laser fight.......what more could you ask for.
I had this on cassette tape and I have to say that it sounds so strange hearing it in the 21st century; John Barry's scores are often the best parts of the movies they accompany. This is brilliant.
yes, you could say that for a many of our great film composers. Often times they are fifty-percent of the movie. They never get the credit they deserve.
The best piece of incidental music in whole cannon, for me. And that's really saying something. Totally ravishing, mysterious and beautiful. And unmistakably Barry.
"The one thing my honourable mother taught me long ago... was never to go anywhere with a strange girl. But you, [Mr. Bond] I'm afraid, will get into anything with any girl."
Huge fan of all things John Barry. THIS is THE BEST individual score of all the Bonds...right here. Purely something out of heaven!! By the way... is there ANYONE else who sees a high level of similarity bn this track and the track from Dances With Wolves...called " Journey to Fort Sedgwick"?? I detect a number of compositional and harmonic similarities...esp towards the last 60 seconds. RIP Mr. Barry and Sir Roger... so sorry you're not with us anymore...
He was a gentleman but still had a sinister side . One of the best lines for me from a Bond movie is " Look after Mr.Bond , see that some harm comes to him " . Drax was played by the very underrated , but excellent Michael Lonsdale who was also in the Day of the Jackel and Ronin.
The tall blonde on the right there is a Swedish actress/model called Anne Lönnberg and she is not Lois Maxwell's daughter. Although Melinda Maxwell appears in the film no doubt I haven't been able to spot who she is playing.
One of the many reasons why John Barry will always be a much better composer than John Williams then again John Barry scored much better films than Williams
@@paulbessant8182 IMO the movie was a cartoonish attempt to cynically capitalize on the Star Wars craze. Bond fans, John Barry's score and Michel Lonsdale's Drax deserved far better. Luckily for Moore he partially recovered with the next film, For Your Eyes Only.

@@Travis_22 MP is what vinyl used to be called - maybe they still are. I agree John's theme is one of his best by a long way.
Just re-checked and it was LP!
John Barry is undoubtedly the best composer for James Bond movies! Such gorgeous & majestic orchestra music! RIP John, we still love you.
John Barry music, Roger Moore as Bond, this is the best for me
The greatest thing about Bond films is the escapism and this is such a fine piece of music which only enhances that point even further, just wish I was around to see it on the big screen at the time and sink into my seat and sit in awe and wonder
Moonraker... nach wie vor mein Lieblings-Bond. Der ganze Soundtrack und auch das Titellied von Shirley Bassey sind wunderschön. Danke John Barry!
Simply breath-taking this one. I used to watch Moonraker as a kid to watch this part of the film and this theme. I loved it as a 6 year old and still like it 43 years later. Simply timeless....
This is my favorite music of any. I feel home, I feel positive, creative and so on. Upper class stuff. Wow!
Jesus, what a beautiful piece of music....close your eyes and drift away
Legendary. Favourite Bond movie because of the soundtrack
Absolutely gorgeous OST for Moonraker, one of the best in the whole franchise , IMO

Definitely my favourite Bond film.
Agree - it complemented Roger Moore's Bond very well. My favourite one and the only one i watch on TV when it is aired.
It was perfect

a film that just doesn't deserve such fantastic music
Amazing no words describe this soundtrack RIP John Barry
To me, this is the most beautiful music ever! I`m having an exhibition next year, and this one will be in the background, plus other works of Barry.
ROADHOUSE!!!!
This is Bond....Roger Moore's Bond..and I miss the hell out of it...
God bless you Sir Roger, and keep an eye on Sean
John Barry's fantastic music and score are what saves the movie from falling into total parody.
youtube needs to invent a repeat button!
If it's in the music, it's in the man!
An emotion drenched masterpiece.
One for the ages and ages.
There is a thin line between Dances with wolves and this masterpiece

this was incredible in the theaters back in 1979, my fav bond ans st
R.I.P., Sir Roger...
If only the scene in the film had lasted longer then we could be treated to more of this beauty.Almost perfection.

exhilarating and makes one feel alive always thought this was the best sequence in the film Roger with all that feminine pulchritude
Gorgeous.
Beautiful score
Used to have this piece of music on a cassette tape I made back in the day!!! I miss John Barry but he seriously lives on through his music!!
Sweet man long time since I hear this! and at the end he punch Jaws in the belly - BOP!
What a wonderful piece this is.
This beautiful piece of music is 1:59 minutes too short 😢
John Barry,Breathtaken!
Stunning like Master Wagner)) but today sounds so much better !! Sir John Barry !!
Grandios und Perfekt
TODA LA VIDA HE SIDO FAN DE JAMES BOND
Top tune.....xxx
Perfect composition for dream sequence
Dreamer genius
Fantástico, realmente fantastico
This sounds like it could've been in Dances With Wolves (which Barry also scored)
Goodbye Hugo Drax
One small step for a villain..... I thought Drax was among the least scariest of Bond villains, though.
He was a gentleman but still had a sinister side . One of the best lines for me from a Bond movie is " Look after Mr.Bond , see that some harm comes to him " . Drax was played by the very underrated , but excellent Michael Lonsdale who was also in the Day of the Jackel and Ronin.
Road Warrior I definitely hear journey to fort sedgewick
Music for heaven 👍
Classic moore as bond
Wtf! Did hugo drax downvote this twice?
You only play dreams, Mr. Barry. The Master. Too bad the film didn't live up to the music. It started off fine, but went downhill.
Sounds of Utopia.

Holy cow you are right trivia master. IMDB lists (uncredited) "Drax's Girl" as Melinda Maxwell. Great catch!
