John Barry was a film soundtrack genius. He could turn any film scene in to something so smooth and atmospheric that would shatter your musical conception and make you listen more to the score than the movie itself. From the sublime to the downright malevolent. He heard the film he was composing and produced a soundtrack others will only dream of aspiring to. With a musical 'presence' that no one in my opinion has bettered. (Disney's 'The Black Hole' is an example.) Up there with the gods of film soundtracks. A legend.
My favourite Bond and best piece of Music, upthere with Midnight cowboy, out of Africa, so Triumphant a stellar celebration and fusion of Trumpets and others
2:03 - 2:26 Harp, strings, Vibes and Flute, 3:00 Keyboard - alternating notes to create an audio visual of sparkling stars and diamonds. The entire 'cue' is magnificent and to this day reminds me of many fun times playing this during certain occasions. When I'd play it, people would say 'what in the heck is this stuff'?. Then they listened and came around. What an amazing talent. Thank you John Barry. God's Speed. "Shove your honor! Where's that satellite we just sent up?!"
Barry combines the suspense of the movie, the omni-presence of 007 and the nation's love affair with space two years after the first moon landing. And he captured it all within an orchestration without one word. The perfect storm.
Is it very wrong that I think it would be kick-ass to walk down the aisle to this? Obviously, I'd have to marry an evil, genius, megalomaniac, but it'd be so worth it. My fave next to space March
Probably my favourite track on the album. I love the suspense and just the feel of it. It reminds me of the warm Las Vegas landscapes we see in the film and well as picturing the satellite sequence itself. Even though the budget for the effects was dramatically cut down, this score really leaves a lasting impression. ❤️
I'm going to have this played as my coffin goes thru the curtains into the cremartorium. I fucking love John Barry's music. Going out in style!!!!!!!!!
One of, if not, the best Bond score. Everything about it compliments the scene in which it’s used so well… the unknowing, the suspense, the faint twinkling of the diamonds, throughout. The track guides you through the scene as Bond and Whyte start to piece the situation together as disaster unfolds. Perfection.
One of my fave Bond films, and this piece is one of the best pieces the franchise produced. From the first note to the last, this is quintessential Bond, as is the film (IMO).
Wow! I did the same thing back then. Also rewinding my VHS again and again just to here that theme over and over again. Now I have the soundtrack and the CD-(Blofelds)laser has burned a hole in that track!
My eardrums are black and blue right now,but what a great way to go deaf!!.John Barry's compositions were bass heavy which is why I loved him.I wonder if he's turning Gods' guts to jelly?!!
This is so evocative, yet on the musical level, it's actually rather simple and minimalist. So different to what most movie composers would think to write for a scene such as this, yet superior in so many ways. Wonderful!!!
[Plenty O'Toole is thrown out of the window and lands in the middle of the hotel's swimming pool] James Bond: [looking down] "Exceptionally fine shot." Slumber Inc. Attendant: "I didn't know there was a pool down there."
That scene/dialogue was stolen verbatim in that last Marvel Wolverine movie, titled: "The Wolverine"...can't these idiots today think of anything original?!
Tom Rainone LOL...Just watched that movie and you're right. One of the reasons I don't go to movies today is because of how unoriginal many of the stories and dialogues are. They should at least TRY to earn that $10.00 admission fee.
awesome track from John Barry this is a great film and Shirley bassey diamonds are forever is brilliant this lady has sang 3 song for the band series gold finger 1964 + moonraker 1979 I love the bond films there was always a bond film on ITV over Christmas ! and I loved it sat with my 3 younger brother's and the room would be quiet !
This is one of the most amazing pieces of music to come out of the 20th century.
After 50 years, this music still pushes all my buttons! Genius.
Agreed
1971. Utterly brilliant. Takes his classic Bond themes such as 'Space March,' then ramps it up to a new level.

The best tune from any bond film in my humble opinion.
I agree

Pretty damn good.. so hard, Capsule in Space, and so on..
Necros attack? In totally other genre

Love listening to this as I take off during a flight
You're unironically the main character. Listening to this as a flight takes off would make me extraordinarily anxious.
lol dude

I want this played at my funeral. What a way to go!
John Barrys music was literally out of this world-he brought the Bond movies to life!
"The stiff back there... Uhm, the deceased... Your brother Mr. Franks?"
"Yes, it was."
"I got a brother!"
"Small world..."
demap007 And that is the magic of Tom Mankiewicz. He wasn't much on plot but dammit, the man wrote sharp dialogue.
Ricardo Cantoral He did indeed... Some of the best dialogue in the series...
Ricardo Cantoral yeah the film was pretty shit and so was Connery but John Barry didn't fail :)
I love DAF. A laugh riot.
Sid Haig was the Attendant who replied "I Got A Brother." :)
The xylophone makes me think of floating in space and the triangle makes me think of stars (or even diamonds).
This is the genius of John Barry encapsulated in 3 mins 31 seconds.
John Barry was a genius at composing film soundtracks, his music saved this mediocre Bond movie-his music will live on forever.R.I.P John.

RIP john Barry. You brought bond to life with your excellent scores. This piece is the epitome of Bond.
Maestro John Barry…the greatest film composer who ever lived.
There are two facts to be extracted from this:
1. This track sounds a lot like the You Only Live Twice space theme
2. This track is sick
Though i hate the movie it's from, this has become my favorite song of classic John Barry 007.
John Barry - absolute legend. His scores are a big part of the Bond movie atmosphere
This piece and "Space March" are personal favorites!
Barry combines the suspense of the movie, the omni-presence of 007 and the nation's love affair with space two years after the first moon landing. And he captured it all within an orchestration without one word. The perfect storm.
Quite possibly the most amazing, evocative piece of music I've ever heard.
Is it very wrong that I think it would be kick-ass to walk down the aisle to this? Obviously, I'd have to marry an evil, genius, megalomaniac, but it'd be so worth it. My fave next to space March
+Julia Hutchinson nah, it's definitely kick-ass. Maybe wear an eye-patch, tho. :D
Thanks for the idea ;) My other half almost matches the Bond villain profile! But what a great choice!
Yes, would be kick ass indeed.
I AM an evil genius megalomaniac, but sorry, I'm taken ;-)
Jinnx don’t forget your cat
This is such a great theme , Connery bond riding off into the sunset after his retirement as 007
Masterpiece! Best Composer of All Time.
I really love this one, it also gives off a nice space vibe.
Saw the film on the big screen last night and this moment ultimately gave me major chills. It sounded incredible.
The most incredible composition ever made.
Improving bond space capsule in space was a tough job but Barry did it once again.
Show 👍 👍 👍 👍.....
Muito bom mesmo todos os arranjos musicais do Maestro John Barry.....👏👏👏👏
One of the best pieces I have ever heard. So epic. Ahead of its time? I don't know. It's a masterpiece.
Absolutely incredible arrangement... and the way that Fender Bass VI holds the bottom end together.
Probably my favourite track on the album. I love the suspense and just the feel of it. It reminds me of the warm Las Vegas landscapes we see in the film and well as picturing the satellite sequence itself. AWESOME John Barry piece!!!

There's a scene in the movie with it's own special track for that.
"Slumber, Inc."

A stunning piece of work

A Truly Masterpiece!!!
pure genius... one of the coolest cues...ever.
This has definitely got a 70s feel to it ❤️❤️❤️
FANTASTIC theme which, in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, elevates an otherwise ludicrous sequence into cinematic gold !
John's Barry could turn a any film into great with his scores and title songs
"attention all person at sac !"BOOOOOOMMMM! "Well Mr Bond what ever your friend has in mind has started!"I love this trak!
OO7 and counting John Barry at his best

Thought I was the only one! Amazing music.
Wow! I did the same thing back then. Also rewinding my VHS again and again just to here that theme over and over again. Now I have the soundtrack and the CD-(Blofelds)laser has burned a hole in that track!
My absolute favourite piece of music from any Bond film, including theme songs. Beautiful!
There's bits of this that remind me a lot of the soundtrack to "The Lion in Winter".
This is both inspiring and sexy . . . John Barry is such a big part of the Bond experience.
Bond movies are what they are but the Barry music is timeless and invokes other worldly imagination.
This is top form.
Must respect towards the Great late John Barry on such wicked tracks he did for 007 and this wot made films better without loss:)
Magnificent work, I love this score!
One of my favorites
Beautiful.
John Barry is the BEST.
Stunning Composition! 2nd best 007 soundtrack after Goldfinger
