From the year I was born, 1967, it always brings me nostalgic memories of my parents and their friends, and the stories and culture of those years. Maybe it is in my subconscious, but I feel very good when I listen to this music...
And don't forget to mention the monay. He made a little of that. I wonder who helped set him on that path of creative wealth ???? His net worth at death was 100 million. Snot bad.
This is the best instrumental rendition I have heard of this song. Other instrumental versions the pacing is different or the brass is emphasized more, but this version is perfect to me.
He came from RnR and Jazz, was famous with the John Barry Seven. Then he got into the movie music with "The beat girls". The major act was Adam Faith and not the Beatles yet. John Barry can be seen as a member of the great british instrumental collection, thinking about the legendary "Shadows", "Tornados" or "Bert Weedom" etc. This was before the Beatles and other British Bands invented a new kind of sound 🙂 Fun fact: Ennio Morricone, another great of Filmscores first only was a studio arranger for italian Twist and Pop singers. Love from Switzerland
My friend, Jim, and I were big Bond fans. I distinctly remember seeing YOLT at the very first Saturday it premiered. The Okla Theater in McAlester, OK. We were 13 years old. Great times!!!!
Me too. Except . . . the stories of Mr. Bond always had lots of mayhem, murder, and other types of action . . . NOT quite so " relaxing. " Ever notice the INCONGRUITY of it ?????????????
A very underrated Bond film. Just the introduction to Donald Pleasance is proof enough to watch it ("They told me you were assassinated in Hong Kong." "Yes well this is my second life." "You only live twice Mr. Bond.")
I drive a gun metal grey 2014 MX 5 NC. A ten second car. It came out of the box race ready with Le Mans paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Every time I drive it I'm in a James Bond movie. When people see it they ask, 'does it have machine guns behind the fog lights?' The license plate reads 009. It's definitely licensed to kill. Does a 'drift' nicely. Q branch read out, race ready with paddle shifters. A ten second car, does 0 to 100 mph in ten seconds. Double wish bone suspension and drive while flat tires makes her a nimble cat with tough paws. The body is made of rust resistant steel and carbon fiber (Kevlar) material. The hood, roof and trunk lid are aluminum. It has quarter inch metal armor under the engine and transmission. Stainless steel exhaust naturally. A seven speaker Boise sound system keeps the Bond theme music coming thru 5 by 5.
I JUST fb my brother and daughter to play this intro!! The orchestra would be done by the piano, the penatonic scale japanese mood in the background can easily be done by a vibraharp, and my daughter can play the triangle and cymbals. I am pretty sure the instruments can be rented, although I have a decent piano. If it would sound much better to add the typani, that begins to get out of my range of possibilities, and would have to pay a university student to do that. A voice to do the actual lyrics imo would cost $100.
One of the Best Bonds apart from the fact Sean had obviously had enough as he said later if theyd made him a partner in the franchise he would have done a couple more ,,,,OHMSS with Sean , Diana Rigg , Telly Savalas , and that great John Barry Score would have been the Apex Bond ,,,,
Rest in Peace John Barry! and Kjell

I AM A VERY BIG FAN OF MR JOHN BARRY IWOUID LIKED TO HAVE MET THIS MAN VERY MUCH BUT WILL SETTLE FOR THE MUSIC HE LEFT THANKS
John Barry was a brilliant composer and arranger, and musician, of course. He wrote so much memorable music for films.
And don't forget to mention the monay. He made a little of that. I wonder who helped set him on that path of creative wealth ???? His net worth at death was 100 million. Snot bad.

This. instrumental. version. of. the. song. "You. Only. Live. Twice". is. performed. by. the
"Prague. Philarmonic. Orchestra
( In. the. Czeck. Republic ).
Another fantastic score with lush arrangements.... No wonder Barry was the first choice for the Bond films....
Nobody did it better......
I see what you did there 😂
well, nice try but that was Marvin Hamlisch. cheers
He was the second choice after Monty Norman.

Methinks Mie Hama is one of the cutest Bond girls,, very underrated
She actually starred in a number of films I am pretty sure....
The greatest of all the bond themes IMO 👌
for sure
Nothing beats GOLDFINGER . . . except BRASS head.

I to saw YOLT in the theater with my entire family in my youth. Wonderful memories.
I first saw it on August 25, 1967 in Morton Grove, a suburb of Chicago. It also happened to be Sean Connery's 37 birthday.
The greatest composer of film soundtracks ever-thats John Barry!
My favorite James Bond theme music. I've lived this for many, many years. Amazing arrangements by the great John Barry.
Just love this soundtrack. John Barry's best James Bond score and what a fabulous film. 😍
Best Bond score ever in the history of the franchise.
Barry doubled down on OHMSS because he knew it needed it without Connery, only instrumental theme, Incredibles used it for 1st previews.
Nice music, good movie, love you all Bond & girls
Have always loved this beautiful music from James Bond...takes me to another place in time so relaxing and melancholy..☺️🔥♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
You expressed the way I feel about this song PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!
Me too. Except . . . the stories of Mr. Bond always had lots of mayhem, murder, and other types of action . . . NOT quite so " relaxing. " Ever notice the INCONGRUITY of it ?????????????
Me encantaaaaa. ❤
I wish I lived in the 1960s. Nothing beats 60's Sean Connery Bond.
Rip Sir Sean , set the tone , forever loved , the mad bastard 😂😂😂❤❤❤💪🏻😎
"...one life for yourself, & one for your dreams."
Nice.🎎
Best Bond score, ever.
without John Barry...Bond doesn't exist. and You Only live Twice is my fave Bond.
YOLT was an unfairly pilloried Bond film--I love it too
BEAUTIFUL
This music always takes me back to when I was a young teenager. The movie and music stirred things in side me I had never felt before. Still does.
「THUNDERBALL」
投稿者さんのG(GOOD より GREAT!)、Jに、大感謝、なのである。
This is music 🎶 ❤❤❤❤
John Barry, Sean Connery, Nanci Sinatra- live forever.
Mind blowing ORCHESTRATION GRANDIOSE ...AWESOME DECADES BACK WHAT A MELODY ..STRINGS ARE RIPPING THRO
My favourite Bond movie and favourite theme song. The song came to mind each time I was in Japan.
A very underrated Bond film. Just the introduction to Donald Pleasance is proof enough to watch it ("They told me you were assassinated in Hong Kong." "Yes well this is my second life." "You only live twice Mr. Bond.")
Great score!!!
They can't erect a statue grand enough to honor the immortal John Barry.
This music makes my best memories alive.😊👍
amo esta pieza musical! me relaja tanto!!
Shades of this, in the "out of Africa" soundtrack, by th same composer.... Giv it a listen, it's there
Indeed, possibly the best Bond-score with references to the movie score "South Pacific"
I love John Barry - I truly love him since years ✨💖✨ c’est sublime ✨💖✨
I remember going to my 1st James Bond movie in the 60's "Gold-Finger". Maybe I was 10. It was around the same times the Beatles came to America ..
Connery was as popular as them & they were 4.
Magnifique ❤
I remember some notes of this in the Casino Royale soundtrack, am I right?
OH WOW
1 of my All Time Favorite Bond 🎥 Films🤔
Eterna ❤

The music at 11:00 minutes! I believe it is titled “Docking”? So beautiful !
Agreed. Outside of the main theme, it's my favorite music from the movie.
Space March Capsule In Space
Lindo
awesome
11:32 this part reminds me "kronos unveiled - the incredibles"
Me recuerda al intro de Robbie Williams ❤

Acen on the remix
I hate the fact that the Austin Powers movie made such a good parody of the music theme.
👏👏👏👏😀👍

Listen to Brigadoon the song Fiona’s search. I believe this song was a rip off of that one. Check it out! Check it out!
