I truly believe that Jeffree Star wouldn't have said what he said about they/them pronouns if the majority of people still liked him, I think he just wants people to talk about him again
While your theory is totally possible and if he said anything super controversial, I'd agree 💯 but he just said he thought neopronouns are dumb. As someone who's his age/older, I can tell you that we grew up being taught not to label others, so seeing this backsliding into labeling is strange to people our age. For myself, I don't even find they super annoying, I usually say they anyways. But, making up words and using inanimate objects as pronouns? Sorry but it's just silly, and it makes one sound uneducated.

@@TheSadlerandrea Even so neopronouns are not harmful to you or anyone else. If someone wants to label THEMSELF they can. It’s also ableist to deny someone respect because they use other pronouns besides he/she/they, because most cases of those using neopronouns to describe themselves are most often neurodivergent and express gender differently than the usual binary. I understand you were taught differently growing up, but that gives you no excuse to grow and learn as a person. You still have room to have an open mind, but you simply choose not to. I was taught homophobic and transphobic views as a child and I still grew up to be a gay non-binary person as an adult. What your parents taught you growing up should not correlate with your current views of others identities and who they are as a person.

Guaranteed that labeling my self a ratself wouldn't have helped the situation. I was also taught the same views as you. I have marched for LGBTQIA rights. I continue to support those rights because they are human rights. What I'm _not_ gonna do is call someone lamp or lampself because that's what they feel like today. I will call one by one's name. You're correct that people can label themselves but it doesn't make the label correct. I can start labeling myself "leader of the north American continent," tomorrow. Doesn't make it so. What people need to learn is mutual respect for their fellow humans, but instead they get caught up in bs rhetoric and semantics. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here as I feel it's a tldr at this point. Sorry for the ramble.

Podcasts can be a wild thing and can spark a lot of controversies. I don't watch podcasts that commonly, but I can see that podcasts can be controversial.
We must smash all controversy! Censor anything that causes controversy! Especially if it calls into question the credibility of mainstream narratives created by our governments! Believe what we say or STFU!

there was this Flow Podcast podcast where Igor3K and Monark would invite Brazilian celebrities to talk to them. Their backstory, current status, and controversies
Monark smoked marijuana and drank beer during the episodes
in one of the editions of the podcasts, he said that all political parties should be accepted, even that one german party from WW2 if you know what I mean
since then, the dude faded into oblivion, and nobody remembers him
great subject matters, very insightful knowledge. i was captivated, sickened, horrified but darkly delighted to learn these dark parts of our recently modern history and the people who's life's it still affects. words must be used responsibly when mixing fiction with part of non fiction. this one was a thinker perfect Sunday for me mate, cheers

Whilst I don't know a single thing about Jeffrey Star in order to comment on their opinions in regards to pronouns, I think that the evidence of a U-turn is pretty weak. Aside from the fact that we're referring to an off-hand remark in what seems to be a casual conversation, saying that you "take any pronouns" is a perfectly valid thing to say regardless of whether they believe in a binary or not. If someone asked me whether I prefer having the lights on or off, and I respond with "I'm okay with anything", it doesn't necessarily mean that I think there are more than 2 options. Heck, even if the comment was intended to be inclusive of non-binary language, it doesn't necessarily indicate anything about Star's beliefs regarding the topic, but simply an acknowledgement that other people may choose to use these words.
Put simply, I think that you're kinda clutching at straws to demonstrate that Star had any kind of change in opinion.

The Shane Gillis one is wild to me. I'm just trying to imagine the mindset it takes to see SNL hire a new comedian you've never heard of, and immediately start scrubbing his career for any edgy joke you can use to tear him down with fake outrage.
Our society loves to destroy people, it's bizarre and honestly quite sick. He was talking about how absolute strangers were messaging him calling him a POS and they hope him and his family all die... because of the use of a single word. As a joke. Makes you kinda question are they really as sensitive and pure intentioned as they like to believe. Even regular people, non-celebrities. We publicly shame someone on national news and take away their financial livelihood because of a single innappropriate outburst caught on camera. It of no benefit to anyone but the bloodthirsty cancellers. I prefer to mind my own business, and not judge someone entirely on a 30 second video clip.
That's not what happened, so don't worry!
I feel bad for the guy, but plennnnty of funnier people have been fired for dumb reasons from that show. And he clearly wasn't "cancelled", he can still do the comedy thing.

The radiolab debacle was infuriating for me to listen to and I can't stand Robert krulwich to this day. It wasn't wholly about "cultural insensitivity", it was about the utter lack of empathy and lack of respect given to people who experienced such tragedy first hand.
Last time Jeffrey Starr was relevant it was when a parody of him was created for Zoolander 2.
I’m always surprised to hear that Jordan B Peterson is considered “right-wing” and/or controversial. He’s a classical liberal giving sound self-help advice + doing interviews of interesting people doing interesting things around current-topics. I feel like the people who bash on him have never actually taken the time to listen to his content - an uninformed bandwagon.
All of these pale in comparison to the numerous UA-cam scandals that seem to happen on a weekly basis. Podcasting overall has a pretty solid rep.

You know, cancel culture doesn't seem to understand that by canceling someone you disagree with, you aren't actually changing anything. They'll find/make a platform, and the people who follow will become increasingly radicalized. The way to deradicalize those beliefs and the people who follow them is to air those beliefs into the open and take them down in a debate, proving that their beliefs are wrong.
I believe that canceling someone over anything (excluding murder or rape where the person is found guilty in a court of law, not a court of public opinion) is dumb.
Cancel Culture also has a nasty habit of refusing to see the passage of time, and also jokes. It's canceled people over decades old tweets, implying that CC believes people are firmly incapable of change, and the thoughts a 15 year old had are identical to the thoughts a 25 year old would have. Also, CC has come down on people for *jokes*.
I can't take Cancel Culture seriously when all it does is exacerbate the problem it claims to solve (radicalization), and then targets people for nonsensical reasons. The idea is...sound in theory, but the problem is *people*. It's the same issue I have with communism. The idea is sound in theory, but the problem comes with humans. Give absolute power to one person/one group of people, and they'll abuse it. And sure, maybe you put your pure-hearted perfect Superman-esque person in charge. How long until those who seek to abuse that power get the idea to kill the pure-hearted person in charge? How long until "absolute power corrupts absolutely" comes true and your pure-hearted person isn't so pure-hearted?
Basically, both cancel culture and communism are sound in theory, but rely heavily on people having incorruptible morals, and having the same kind of thought as everyone else.
Those are two things that will never occur.

Tell them that Jesus was against imposing religious rules onto other people solely to oppress them, or that he recognized that consenting to sex and consenting to pregnancy are different things? They’ll tell you it’s heresy and sin and accidentally say the quiet part out loud, that they haven’t actually read the bible like the ‘good Christians’ they claim to be. They’ve been used as both plural and singular pronouns for *centuries.* The first recorded use of they as a personal pronoun is believed to have been in the 14th century. You’re a bit late to be getting upset about them now when they’ve worked their way into becoming a vital part of language and how we identify and communicate with ourselves and each other.

Like don't woosh me if I'm not understanding the joke, but it's not like humans were manifested into reality knowing the words "she" or "he," not to mention the use of the plural they/them, and the fact that singular they/them has been in use for centuries (even in Shakespeare's writings).
I use they them, cry about it. The pronouns aren’t even made up because you use them in your everyday life pretty sure you’ve said “who left their jacket?”
