I myself was Anti-Shaladin and pro-Klance (in that I thought I was neat) but I never went out of my way to harass or threaten anyone over it

i know someone who has a breast milk ring, they’ve had it for 5+ years and it didn’t curdled like you described. she decided to get a ring made because she lost her pregnancy and wanted to have a piece of it with her. it’s not that different from wearing a loved one ashes in a necklace container.

Only on tumblr (and twitter) is it controversial to say "hey maybe we shouldn't harass and try to harm real life people over fictional characters under any circumstance."

the nsfw ban was bs, the cp circles are still there, and it only harmed artists, I got several anatomy practice sketches taken down by their algorithm and apparently it works so badly that it was even flagging pictures of dunes or anything that had a "consistent fleshy color". They didn't go back from their decision either, they just reworded and reiterated what was already instated in hopes people would misunderstand and go back to the site :/
I never really was deprived of porn during the porn ban, either. It never really left overall.

@@VampiricVik As a person that had a NSFW account, you're absolutely right. Full nudes could be left up but a butt in underwear would be taken down (but only some of them!). I also had nude art removed more consistently, it was such an awful system..

I have kleptomania. It's a genuine mental illness that makes you have a compulsion to steal. You get a rush, you walk into a store and immediately start thinking where you can stash stuff. It's an *illness* that you get treatment for.
These Tumblr people imo, most don't actually have kleptomania. I'm sure a few do, but I think a majority of them are just doing it because they want stuff. Kleptomaniacs steal things we don't need or even necessarily want. We feel remorse after stealing. These people, it seems like, don't.
I haven't stolen anything in 6+ months, and I'm very proud of it.
I'm sure half of these Tumblr girls can't even spell kleptomania let alone know what it is.
It's one thing to have an actual mental illness you can't help, while it's another thing to just "want nice things"

Breast milk jewelry is pretty much for women who've suffered miscarriages, stillbirths, or lost their baby to SIDS, etc, and is not really weird at all. As far as "curdling" and gross, it's not. It's also not visually decomposing, it gets dehydrated into a powder and then mixed into resin, so you just get a white shape (teardrop or heart are very popular) pendant.
Insane ladies probably do that,in fact I'd go so far as to say that any women who would buy this is probably mentally unfit for motherhood in general

I was just about to comment this. Maybe he can make a video relating to Kickstarter scams or even a video on Miss Officer and Mister Truffles because a lot went down with that. Haven't heard of the "All or Nothing" Kickstarter though so I'd love to see a video about it
@@Sillymonkey246 I think with some Kickstarter projects, the people don't realize how difficult it is to create something so large and ambitious with a small group/working alone and inadequate software. For example, MMORPG kickstarters have people who want to create a finished product but don't realize the amount of work and development hell to execute it properly. There are some cases in which the people do have malicious intent.
Some of the things in Sonic for Real Justice were spontaneous decisions, making it even funnier
That entire sequence of event is so funny to me lol
Tikal is a character from Sonic Adventure that existed in what was a Mayan-esque civilization of echidnas. She befriended the Chao and their guardian, Chaos. Her father was basically raring to pick a fight with Chaos (who is basically a god) and despite Tikal's attempts to warn him not to, he did so anyways. Chaos lost its temper, lashed out in a violent rage, and Tikal sealed both it and herself within the Master Emerald. Their spirts lived there for thousands of years until the events of Sonic Adventure, when Eggman unleashed Chaos and Sonic eventually calmed it down by beating it in a fight. Her spirit is over 3000 years old, basically.

It is. Its mostly dedicated to mothers that lose children to stillbirth or lost their babies at a very young age. At the point where they still produce milk. They do this as a keep sake, as a remembrance of the lost child.

Tumblr's numbers have allegedly gone up in recent days after all the stuff going on with Twitter. I would also add that Tumblr is like most other social media in the sense that it's the user who decides who to follow and what people they surround themselves with. I've been using the platform since like 2010 or 2011 and most of the people I've met and interacted with there over the years have been pretty cool, kind, and chill. Little to no drama or controversies, and when there's someone in the tags trying to start shite, they just get ignored. It really depends a lot on that as well as the fact that every person builds and curates their own internet experience regardless of the platform they're on, and this has always been a reality of internet, the problem is that people seem to have forgotten about that somehow.
Also, the p*rn ban was imperfect tbh. P*rn has always been there ever since the ban was implemented, it just was more difficult to find and ran the risk to get flagged and hidden, but it's always been there.
very true. as an artist, i think tumblr is the easiest place to reach my intended audience (i cater to a very niche fandom). instagram was alright but there was more of a nice, community type feeling on tumblr. i was able to ignore what i didn't want to see and avoid any type of pointless drama.

I am an artist, too, and while in more recent times my stuff tends to get more attention on instagram whenever I post my works there, it truly feels like it lacks that sense of community in some way. It also doesn't help that stuff kinda gets buried in the tags over time without much possibility of coming back and reaching newer audiences unless you repost it since there is no real way to share works in the way like retweets on twitter or reblogs on tumblr do.
The only downside I see with tumblr nowadays is that interactions overall for a lot of content creators (artists, writers and etc) seem to be on decline even before the recent "twitter exodus".
I remember the porn ban fiasco. I'm a very SFW blog on there, mostly posting about Sonic, FNAF, Pokémon and Darkwing Duck, with my favorite characters including QuackerJack from DWD (Basically a duck amalgamation of Toyman and Joker, voiced by Michael Bell), and I post headcanons and screenshots and other fan appreciation content.
Because of the algorithms of the porn filters, over 182 of my posts, 90% QuackerJack related, were flagged because of the shade of the color of his big toothy beak, and it became a temporary meme in my circle that my content was "too spicy" for the website when it's usually just the jester toymaker sewer dwelling duck jumping around, lol.
Please do a part 2 so you can cover the white american girl who pretended to be an interracial lesbian couple living with hiv in India so she could write Hamilton hiv fanfic. Also the miriad of kickstarter scams like Miss Officer and Mr. Truffles/All or Nothing/the Arkh Project etc. And the Homestuck bucket video. Tumblr fucking rocks lmfao

I will forever miss the x-kit guy who for a good while, made codes to fix tumblr for whenever the staff would make yet another site update that would fuck up all the coding. Up until some user got a wild hair up their ass and decided to call him out for being a ped0 with absolutely no evidence whatsoever other than (source: trust me bro).
There are so many "trust me bro" accusations on tumblr. I remember being accused of being a paed0 because I had a crush on a 20 year old *FICTIONAL character* when I was 22 lmao. Then there's the time they accused Jake Gyllenhaal of being one because he used "kid" as a term of endearment towards a friend that happened to be the same age as his girlfriend (23 lol). Tumblr users love accusing everyone of really fucked up stuff for little to no reason

The pendant thing is common. You can also get ashes of loved ones mixed in to pendants too. Everyone has their own way of grieving. You can get the skin of your loved one preserved if you'd like.
Okay, I am a very frequent tumblr user. In fact, i have several posts with over 1000 notes. I have such a genuine love for this hellsite and its weird history and reputation on the internet. If any of you are interested in more tumblr drama, i recommend channels like izzzysss and strange aeons who have documented a lot of significant events.
This website/app has developed so many of its own inside jokes and memes that i feel confident describing it as its own culture. Its no wonder that new users dont stay for long haha you have to research like five things just to understand one joke post sometimes. Also our extreme hatred of twitter users is palpable.
Also, famous users like tumblr user heritageposts (tumblr’s unnofficial historian documenting the sites history and iconic posts), one-time-i-dreamt (whos posts are constantly rbed first with extreme confusion followed by “oh i just saw the url”) and several other tumblr celebrities.
Do a part 2! You should cover the 15 year old who got doxxed and harassed for blocking someone. I can't remember the user but the hate and threats she got were some of the most disgusting rhetoric I've ever read

Ah, I remember the Tumblr lifting community...Bunch of bored middle class kids. Lots of teenagers stealing makeup, candy, clothes, etc. There were also a lot of fakers though, posting "hauls" that they could not possibly have gotten without paying (electronics kept in locked cabinets, etc)

The theft ring is still very much a thing, if not its gotten a hell of a lot bigger. Especially since after covid and the job crisis. I'm a manager at a corporate fashion retailer, and we catch at least 10 thieves a day, it's actually slowed a slight bit, but still happens. The thing is too that we don't sell essentials, just graphic tees, pants and jackets with logos on them. So it's not a alladdin situation. They're even also very aggressive now too, they come with knives, pepper spray if very common, and sometimes guns, and they'll also just try to punch you. I know people have this whole fuck giant companies thing, and in a way I agree, but when my 16, 17, 18 year old coworkers are anxious cause they've been yelled at, punched at, and threatened with violence at their jobs then its a little different. Not only that but most people don't know that if a store gets stolen from way too much, the entire staff has a danger of being replaced or the store can just straight up close down. Theft hurts in more ways than people think, yeah its a big corporate but I'm just a assistant manager, and all the people I work with are all just people trying to survive as well.
The Frozen account could very well be low key fetish stuff. Its a gross thing on the site where people ask artists on ask character blogs stuff like "can you do a pufferfish face?" as if "lol so quirky its cute" when really its inflation fetish bait drawn by unsuspecting artists
The needle cookie story really blows my mind. I’m familiar with the concepts of antis & pro-shippers (and how both just need to go outside and touch grass), but I had no idea that an artist was given tampered food like that. That’s… really fucked.

I think izzzyzzz made a vid on this a while back. Apparently the needle in the cookie was real but there was nothing linking it to pro anti discourse and frankly it took attention away from someone that got hurt.

Tumblr users are actually quite old compared to other social media sites, most of people who got into it in 2014 when they were 14 are now over 20, and there are barely any new users (especially younger, because they usually just use TikTok) so the community is aging which actually turned into a joke on the site. I cannot guess the average age of an tumblr user but it's more common to see people in their 20' and 30' than early teens.
This didn't blow up when it happened but I remember this undertale theory blog that flipped tf out whenever someone challenged their theories. Then they admitted they were so angry they were going to fly to their detractors house to shoot them (claimed to have the tickets and guns ready and everything). I remember them thinking they could use the blog to get a job or some bs which was why they got so pissed at people challenging them. Tumblr is wild man.

Pro Ana was something else. Today, the communities have branched out to UA-cam, Twitter, and other platforms. They’re extremely fatphobic, shame others with binge eating disorders, promote eating disorders (anorexia and bulimia), and have even used children as thinspo. Though there are more communities that are pro-recovery and all about harm reduction, which is relieving.
I completely forgot about the rampant pro-ana posts from back in the day until I went back to Tumblr last year and looked up a singer I like and was shocked to see people putting pro-ana and thinspo tags under his pictures, it messed me up for a bit
As an artist I think we need to differentiate between artwork featuring nudity and prawn 🦐

Tikal's story is simpler than it looks tbf. She was 14, she basically sacrificed herself and put her spirit/soul in the master emerald with Chaos to stop him from going apeshit on the world, then when he was unfrozen 3000 years later in sonic adventure she was as well and somehow managed to get her physical form back because sonic cant leave characters dead

I don't remember the name of the blog, but there was a controversy a few years back with a Hamilton fan fic writer who pretended to be a PoC, HIV+ and other things I cant remember atm, just so they could claim that it was okay for them to be writing about certain topics.
See also: Thomas Jefferson Hatsune Miku binder, someone stealing bones from a graveyard, Dashcon, All or Nothing Kickstarter scam, Mishapocalypse (not so much a controversary, but still funny). God I am a Tumblr Veteran and dear lord this barely scratches the surface of the hell site that is Tumblr. I remember the Graverobbing Witch, mostly because I was out that day and cam back to people talking about it and it was a sucker punch. I am a little sad that was not featured as it was wild. And just all the mess with fandoms that happen. Like i remember the Steven Universe fandom getting in so much trouble all the time because the fans where going a little crazy. Like people posting fake reviews to a real place because i shared a name of a location in an episode. People getting called out or cancelled on the site because they dared to use a different color pallet then the show used. Or all the head cannons that didnt fit in with how others saw it. I still use the site but i have culled my dash down a lot and stay away from the drama.
You should talk about tv shows that are obscure in the US but popular in the UK (like The Young Ones and Red Dwarf).
If you're allowed to buy and sell breast milk and toe jewelry I'm allowed to openly be disgusted by it. This is a fair trade in my eyes.

I was there through the tumblr porn ban and the Zambii incedent. When she was in the hospital the people who attacked her was arrested. Not all but some of the antis got what they deserved.
I have been on Tumblr since 2013 and the only things that I've heard about (though mainly in passing) were the Russian accounts, the needle cookie, Sonic for Real Justice, and Sixpenceee. The ban was discussed all over my dash and the rest is, like, entirely new to me. So, this was definitely a trip for a "veteran" like myself-
I literally got bullied off of my first tumblr(that I had since I was 13) when I was 17 because of the Arcana fandom(the dating sim not the tv show). I was literally receiving death threats because I said one of the characters being abused wasn’t an excuse for what the character did. And a side note, the character wasn’t even abused. If anything he was spoiled his entire life until he was 18 then kicked out by his parents.
Sheesh, I really feel you. I was chased off there a few times as a teen for some of the dumbest bullshit.
One that comes to mind was a post about autism. Someone asked why a diagnosis was necessary and I mentioned that my diagnosis helped me get individualized help in high school, vocational rehabilitation so I could get a job, and transportation assistance among other things in the nicest and least judgemental way possible. They FLIPPED the hell OUT over that, hundreds of reblogs saying that I was rich because I had that diagnosis (which I had to get through state funding). They doxed me, harassed me, and then took my URL the second I deleted.
Tumblr was the stuff of nightmares back then.

For part two, I would like you to discuss the 4chan trolling that happened on there.
Especially Steven-universe-edits, that's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
This is barely relevant to the video but Tikal "Tee-kall" is in Sonic Adventure 1 and her and the main villain have a connection, being from thousands of years in the past and were sealed inside of an emerald together and when you beat the main villain, she and him return to pretty much the afterlife, so that's why her wiki is weird to people who don't know LMAO
I hope i can offer some more context on the NSFW ban on tumblr becuase while it sounds kindof silly because their stock crashed and fully warrented based on apples reasons for pulling it off the apps store, there is more context needed.
I was on tumblr pre-ban and i did a bit of nsfw art, drawing my own characters and taking maybe two or three comissions, my account was by no means popular and was something i did for fun and some extra cash.
something that should be understood is the complete ban came out of almost no where, apple took it off the app store without warning and tumblr banned nsfw also with little warning. this meant that for people who were completely legally making money on there lost their jobs with no notice and few places to go. Most people went to twitter but as a business move this would have been risky and you could be expected to loose most of your audience.
Also another thing was that their automated content filter was so bad that even though non-sexual artistic nudity, even in photos of public domain classical paints would be flagged regardless. I ridiculous example being tumblr staff making a post of what was 'accecptable' content including images as reference, images that when reposted would trigger the flagging system.
another thing to note is that nothing was actually done regarding the p*dos, like additional security measure were not put in place and and textpost encouraging or acting in support of p*dophilia were not delt with. also because law enforcement was never greatly involved in this a lot of them just moved to twitter (which is also why in subsequent years twitter has had a "MAP" problem) and got away with their crimes. So overall the greater effect of the ban was takign away small creators incomes and not fixing their cp issue.
Another thing to note is that while tumblr has been banned from the app store for CP, twitter has not. even though it also had its own issues with it in following years partially due to tumblrs poor handling of the situation. Which is just telling of the weird bias that many companys have against tumblr specifically, this is also a big reason that adult content has not been fully reinstated as part of tumblrs TOS

Frisk is literally only stated to be a child by monsters, who say as such because (direct quote) "I can tell because you are wearing a striped shirt" there were several meme retellings of Undertale where Frisk is a buff guy in his 20s or a young Mom who wants to get home so she can pick her baby up from daycare. Literally all we have about Frisk is their name, not even an age range (I've seen some headcanons go as low as THREE but most seem to be in the 8-13 range)
We also don't know how old Sans is, or even if monsters age the way humans do (in fact we know they DON'T since Asgore and Toriel have apparently been ruling since monsters were trapped) but for some reason Asriel, who was raised with the Fallen Human Chara, who fell who knows how long ago, is considered acceptable? If it turned out Sans wasn't considered an adult skeleton would that change anything? People try to say Papyrus is a child but he canonly has a job.
I think the interactions between Sans and Frisk do have some possible romantic charge to them, the music during their talk at the restaurant? The amount of trust sans develops over the time of the game, including eventually possibly, giving them the key to his room (and therefore his lab), Sans sounds like he's giving an "i know you're in there somewhere" fight during genocide.
Even though I headcanon Frisk as 8 during the game, I developed crushes by that age. And due to monsters not aging on par with humans, Frisk will one day be old enough to be an adult and sans won't have changed much.
Oh, I remember pre-p0rn ban Tumblr... Those were the times I don't want to come back.
And for the part 2 I would like to suggest weird ads between posts while scrolling. Today Tumblr is mostly haunted by Pikaman and an old lade with the sword, but few years ago there was a type of ads that would pop up in place of posts while searching and those were link to articles about someone's huge cyst or how to poop properly. It got so bad I sometimes would scroll down several loads of those before I found a post related to a topic I was searching.

Omg i remember being there in the whole zamii controversy. It was absolutely horrendous. Im pretty sure rose quartz in the earlier seasons wasn't confirmed to be plus size yet and i think later in the seasons when we got to see her she was shown plus size, the artist obviously didnt know and thats fine. But the fact it sparked such an outrage to the point zamii tried to take her own life is depressing, this situation could have been handled differently in my opinion.

Yes, the articles about constable-frozen may have come out in 2017, but I think it's worth mentioning that the blog's been around since 2014 (peak Rise of the Brave Tangled (Frozen) Dragons conglomerate fandom, when 3D animated movies were going through a hugely popular phase in fandom), and was still active as of early this year (2022). They're probably not gone for good--I believe they've had long hiatuses before. But they have been, and are to this day, a topic of debate.
I do think some of it is fetish content, but definitely not aimed at kids a la Elsagate. They're just vibing over there, I think.

It's actually EXTREMELY common and popular in the mom world.
The same as parents will keep their kids lost teeth or locks of hair.
But it is actually far more of a favorite product for any mothers whose babies had passed away as infants (aka neonatal death/loss). Especially if these babies were also premie babies or hadn't made it long enough to grow any teeth or hair yet...
Some cases, there's nothing at all to keep as a tiny little bit of something to remember the passed baby by at all...
But it's HIGHLY likely that the moms will have at least began to make milk and thus is the one remaining thing that can be saved and turned into a nice momento in honor of their little ones...
It sounds really gross at first, but all the businesses that I've ever come across providing such services actually mix the milk with what I understood as some kind epoxy/resin-esque .... "Chemical" that functions as both a medium and preservative for the milk.
So the vendors will often send moms kits that have the ingredients necessary to mix together and add milk to (per the instructions they include). After that process is completed as instructed the moms pack all that up in the kit and send it off to the jewelry makers.
The jewelry makers basically just take what's sent to them and sand it down to the shape client chose.
Pop it on a chain and there's the boobie-milk-jewelry.

I've been a Tumblr user since 2011 and I'm honestly surprised that Littlefuckinmonster wasn't mentioned. That whole controversy was absolutely legendary. But with how much insane history Tumblr has, it would be difficult to cover them all in one video especially for a non-user.
regarding the shoplifting thing i honestly think the general opinion on tumblr has shifted by now and is more of a "steal from rich people only" in other words, steal from work steal from big businesses but dont steal from independent business owners. and also dont post anything that can be tracked back to you personally because everything on the internet is in constant surveillance. over there we love piracy and physical copies and sharing links and how-to get free stuff because subscription based services are bogus. you either pay once and own it permanently, or you steal.

Also, I was on tumblr from early on for several years and was a part of a lot of the communities that were “involved” (aka shared) most of these controversies. I was also part of pro ana and it made me sooo much worse… It’s so sad that I didn’t see how awful it was at the time because I was so deep in my ED.
I don’t know how legitimate it is, but supposedly that SU artist may have lied about her trying to commit sewerslide… I remember many people “debunking” it back in the day but I honestly don’t know for sure. It was way too long ago to remember beyond people I followed talking about it.

As someone who has a tumblr and has been on it for nearly a decade, the best way I can describe the website is that it just does it’s own thing. People don’t join tumblr to get popular because you can’t see how many followers other people have and if you tell people how many you have you look like you’re bragging. Tumblrs humor is strange it’s true but once you’ve been on it for a while it doesn’t phase you. I mean we celebrate November 5th as a holiday for destiel becoming canon and that Putin supposedly stepped down due to destiel. We also celebrate the ides of March every year. You can’t use normal social media logic when it comes to tumblr.
