- Facebook is perhaps the most famous and influential social media platform of all time, having a long and storied past since it's release in 2004. In this time however, there have been many people that have been banned from the site... as well as places Facebook itself has been banned. In this video we're doing a deep dive into Facebook's history to discuss just a few of the most interesting reasons Facebook has banned people, and Facebook itself has been banned.
This video has been fairly altered to make it suitable for advertisers, so if there are some awkwardly edited moments, I sincerely apologise in advance. I had to take 1 story, and about 2 minutes of content out of it to work. My next upload won't be such a minefield :)

My sister's Facebook was banned for 3 months because of violence, sexual acts, pornography and child abuse. My sister makes and sells cakes. Someone in her group reported her and now she is banned. The only pic she can think of that may have been an issue was a pic she posted of a cowboy without a shirt on and wearing tight jeans. Some people can be so viciously jealous of people's success that they stoop to the lowest levels.

@@badrott8028 there's a big difference between running a personal acc where you just shitpost memes and running a business account. First, you need a following to make money, and that following gets smaller and smaller the more accounts you have to make. Second, a majority of social medias have rules on ban evasion, this isn't a concern with a personal account, no one will even find you anyways, but when you're running a business you can't just change your identity at will and you have to keep up a public image. If people find out you're ban evading you'll be seen as less reliable

I work at a bank and we have to comply with the country's list of sanctioned individuals and groups, so it doesn't surprise me that Facebook has to as well. I am, however, surprised that a list of sanctioned countries and individuals hasn't leaked somewhere considering how many companies have to comply with it.
It is a scary thing that our governments can just stop our use of any social media/internet consumption but with the level of misinformation and violence coming from the sites we scroll through everyday should be also be a scary thing too.

I think alot of countries will be banning alot of these platforms, especially in the next 5 years as the impact of what the Chinese g0v has done to the attention spans (not even mentioning the data they mine..whole different animal) but just in general. I've talked to teachers who say that trying to teach kids who cant literally sit for more than 3 to 5 minutes has become impossible.

It's technically a business, the owners make the rules and are the ones in control. If Mark Zuckerberg doesn't want someone on the platform he has the right to kick them off of it, it's all in the terms and conditions we agree to.

I've seen the worst comments be posted attacking people but I'm banned 30 days over a meme I commented to call out someone for being a butthole?
The political situation in the U.S. is gross and disappointing. Although I guess it really has been for a good long while, or maybe I'm just growing more and more tired of it.

Temp bans, all the time.
However, full time bans are not common, usually only done to those who post something obvioisly atrocious or terroristic. A lot of people lose accounts to hackers, unfortunately.

I had a dear friend get banned on FB by simply voicing his political views recently. Even though I didn't agree with his views (which he aired very frequently) I disagree with the fact that freedom of speech is so verboten over there. 🤔
