BTW: That is the sweetest and cutest little black dog! 💞🐕
I top my dogs kibble with canned mackerel and carrots. I'm always afraid of doing the wrong thing by trying so hard to do the right thing.
That’s how I feel. There is so much information out there I don’t know what to give my cats. And like you I fear giving them something that’ll harm them.
Kibble and canned food is bad for dogs..it shortens life span and causes many diseases/conditions. Raw/home-made is best 🧡
Me too, I'm driving myself crazy and probably poor little Theo too.
He looks at me like,
"What are you going to do to me next?!"
I'm so confused; I had no idea that having a cat was going to be so life-altering.
My dog loves Sardines ! And she is so healthy!
mine too, just check the sodium levels...
Whole frozen sardines are so cheap and whole prey. Only need to add a little beef liver to up the folate b12 and iron. Maybe a little mince for zinc. Can probably feed primarily sardines and be fine. £4 per kg is great value.
Mackeral is good too
My two cats get a tin of sardines once a week. Packed in water, no salt added.
Same here😊
My dog is so finicky. But I’m going to try him on it. Cat will likely love it too. Thanks.
We adopted our Rottweiler in 2019 when he was 2.5 yrs old. He had a chronic, severe ear infection, to the point the shelter was scheduling surgery to remove his inner ear. We adopted him without surgery, worked with our vet and a vet dermatologist. After clearing up the massive ear infection and some more months of monitoring, determined he is allergic to beef. Our beef comes from a local organic/grass fed farm only, so it's not a matter of store bought beef. We removed all beef from his diet, and he has not had another ear infection. He is a happy, healthy, ear infection free guy. The specialist vet told us that beef is one of the main allergies for dogs.
I once read that to Spike the Mitochondria of a dog, ( the IMMUNE SYSTEM into full output), Chicken Livers are the number one performer to add to a dogs diet. I alternate weeks when I'll get a small quantity and feed a couple of warmed up fresh liver. Try it, also get off High Grain content foods, the number one cause of Dog Cancers.
My Rottie is allergic to lamb and it started with an ear infection. Thanks for saving him from surgery.
I’ve seen many people feed their dogs raw beef / steaks and swear it’s keeping them in top health. Are they misinformed? I have a Frenchie and he occasionally gets pieces of quality steaks usually grass fed but I don’t want to hurt him by continuing
@@GG.510 All dogs are different. My first dog was fed beef cubes and she live to 13 with no issues. The dog I have now can't have beef or he ends up with loose stools.
Our cat BB was put on Meloxicam for arthritis and took it for 2 weeks. . It did not really help him at all and could
potentially harm is kidneys. We started to give him Krill oil and he is like a new man. He is showing no signs of stiffness and is remarkably happier. This is after 7 days.
Thank you so much for your videos! My girls eat Sardines and one is due for a spay VERY soon I would’ve had no idea of taking her off of them before surgery!
I remember reading that you should stop the supplemental oils at least one week ahead of surgery.
Mine was due for surgery, being a nurse, I realized I had to stop that before. However, vets don’t instruct people of this important fact.
I m glad you got the information ahead of time. I would mention that to your vet.
Sad that your vet didn't tell you this pertinent information.
My Jack Russell have atopic dermatitis, allergic to environmental, flea bites , anything and everything would cause her to itch, she barely slept peacefully - it was breaking my heart to see her suffering and felt so helpless - I then put her on cold pressed Evening Primrose oil, and 6 weeks later both of us are reaping the benefits, her itchy, sore body is healed, she sleeps well and can play in any environment. I have now started my younger boy, also a Jack Russell, he was following down the same road, but, just 1 week later and I got results - so happy, we can enjoy life now to their fullest 🐾🐶💞
So happy for you and your pup 🥰 itching dog makes me so sad
So the primrose oil helps deture fkeas as well as healing the skin?
@@catalinamargomyers9970that's really good to know thanks. Do you have any advice on doses?
Did you give her internally?
My vet suggested giving my 15 yr old Yorkie tinned sardines or mackerel,it comes in olive old,I add a very small amount to her pedigree sachets…and she absolutely loves it! She has no mobility issues and am hoping this diet will slow down the chance of her getting arthritic and add many more years to her life.🤞 x
i use this too but get in water with no salt added. hopefully there is no other additives except the olive oil
Watch out for pedigree. I will not give it to my dog.
@@RepentfollowJesuswhy not pedigree?
@martez752 Pedigree is a low-grade dog food made with subpar ingredients.
@@deneen8120 what you recommended for a 16 week old poodle?
I am not surprised. I work for a multinational practice management software company. You are correct over the past years I have watched most of our little vet owned practices bought out by corp owned animal HMOs. TBH, the focus of the software IS primarily maximizing profit.
Central Oregon same. Numerous local vets all sold out to corporations...
Thank you ❤very helpful
This is such useful information. Thank you 😊
Thanks for the info!
Tula is such a good doggie!
Thanks for this
Great information. Thank you.
Love your videos. They are incredibly helpful. Thank you so much.
I always learn so much when I watch your videos. Also, Tula is such a wonderfully calm and well-behaved dog. She must be a real joy! Thank you Dr. Jones for your information and for sharing Tula with us. ❤
I'm so looking forward to the webinar 🐾
When is the webinar?
@@user-bd4bo4tb8u Tuesday June 20th Dr.Jones time is I believe 5pm...check your time zone. I live in Indiana so it's. 8pm here.😊
Great info, you are really appreciated by us animal lovers. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much Doc! This video was super helpful. I have my dog on flaxseed oil. And on a side note, Tula is looking adorable 😍
Thanks!
Great information to know and thank you so much Dr. Jones. Blessings ❤❤❤❤❤
You are so welcome
My Vet pushed fishoil. I did get some for him, he started acting weird, wobbly, greasy fur, smelled like fish. I stopped giving it and he was back to normal after a few days. He's 15, little stiff, still goes for short walks, eats like a horse. It's sad that you cannot trust your Vet completely. I read about issues with fishoil, mentioned clotting issues as well. This convinced me even more not to give it. My furkid hated it. He had no skin issues, no real arthritis to speak off!
If you think he’s needs it but ident responding well to it you can always try just feeding him fish. Supplements are sometimes too much but you always get the right amount from eating a regular balanced diet.
My dog takes Restorapet, it has helped him so much.
For our dog who was diagnosed with environmental allergies (not food), he gets two of your products. The Ultimate Omega 3 Antarctic Krill Oil and Ultimate Bioactive Quercetin. Over a year ago, you were also using Sterols & Sterolins (New Roots brand) made with Organic FLaxseed and a few other great ingredients. These really help calm his itching during our high pollen/grassy season! Thank you so much, Dr. Jones!
environmental allergies are very bad this year.
@@akadog6319 Aren't they though? I thought last year was bad, but this summer I believe is worse!
I looked in the description box and can't find where to go to buy this doctors products. Could you give me a website? Thank you!

Hi Dr. Jones can you please do a video on Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA). For dog. Thanks
Can you speak on Hemp oil please? Thank you ❤️
Shalom from the Ohio Valley 🙏
You answered all my questions about fish oil
Absolutely perfect!
You are a HERO!
I'm looking for something to help my dog with eustachian tubes that are affected by allergies. Any suggestions?
Can I share my good omega w/my dog? Thnx 4 all your wisdom!
Fish oil went straight through my old dog, like sh!tting through a needle eye at 100 yards. Terrible mess. But Hemp oil was fine.
What are your thoughts on grizzly salmon oil?
Wheat Germ Blend Oil for horse is what i used... :)
I give my cat the same omega 3 supplement once or twice a week as I am taking daily. I also share my sardines and my cod liver with my kitty.. not to treat any condition, but as part of a healthy diet. Since omega-3 is anti-inflammatory and to balance the inflammatory omega-6 in the diet.
Is it ok to use algae oil? I take Testa brand because it's completely clean
Our dog checkers always has a hard time having a bowl movement. Would fish oil help him.
I give my dog hemp seed oil. Is this okay? Perfect ratio of omega 3 and 6.
I’ve asked him to advise about hemp too! 💚
@@empressah888 I have googled about hemp seed oil for dogs and apparently it is good for them. I only give 1 teaspoon a day. Seems to help with her joints. I massage it into her bare skin as well.
It doesn't contain EPA/DHA
That's why I give her sardines. 🙂
@@evelynschipp1751 sardine oil should also work
Thank you! We love your krill oil! It has really helped Eleanor’s allergies. I wanted to ask if you could do a video on Symmetrical Lupoid Onchodystrophy (SLO)? Eleanor has lost most of her nails over the last year, and was just diagnosed with this autoimmune condition today.
♥️🐾
Has she had a lot of vaccines?
Hello im from the philippines. I watched your video about cancer in dogs. Does any kind of brand of CBD and THC, olive extract, melatonine works? Thank you so much

For skin allergy treatment, what is the benefits, if any, to giving your dog amitriptyline twice daily?
Taste of the Wild kibble with sardines in water or tuna fish in water couple times a week
what is safflower?
Went to a new vet and they gave me omega 3 for my senior dog which is suffering from Atopic Dermatitis. Thank you for explaining this to us.
Happy to help
My labrador had a splenectomy last September in time to save her life after it was rupturing. The tumor was sent for pathology and it came back as hemangiosarcoma. My vet suggested we double up on the fish oil we were giving her. But now in listening to your video and hearing that fish oil may accelerate bleeding, should she be on ANY supplements, much less double?
I use omega 3
When my dog had surgery I took her off the omega-3 about three weeks before
Since my dog has had Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia in the past and has had a full recovery, should I be concerned with your Krill supplements? You mentioned not to give EFA's to a dog with blood disorders, so I want to be sure before supplementing with Krill. Thanks Dr Jones💗
Is Sardine oil good for senior dog ?
I read sawflower oil is an inflammatory oil.
I've been feeding a raw food diet to my female golden retriever since we brought her home. She's now 20 months old and about a year ago I began supplementing her food with human grade cod liver oil. I'm wondering if I should switch to the krill oil supplements? I'm trying to beat the odds of the health concerns that appear to plague goldens. Thanks for all your advice and sharing important information for our fur babies😍
We have a little Havanese dog who is just smart as a whip. We recently retired from the US and moved to Panama, Central America. Shortly there after she started itching and licking her paws and butt.... a lot. They don't have labs here, so they tell me to get blood analytics done, so there is a lot of guesswork with vets here. Thank goodness we found you, many things we have recently started and looking to cure our little girl soon.
We had to put our sweet Havanese down last month. They are the best!
Will there be a repeat of the webinar offered on June 20th? Sadly, I can't watch it at that time.
Hey doc. I have a Connie Corso she's 7 years old ,I bought the heat pads off your or your affiliates will the fish oil work on her?
So we give the fatty acids omega-3, with safflower oil? I usually put the omegas in her food. Is this wrong? She’s going in for a dental surgery but she has no bleeding disorders.
ANY fish?! Wow that’s news to me about the preggo thing cuz I’ve always know that was the case for tuna but I’d never heard that about salmon etc …good to know!
I have 2 Chihuahua cross doggies. I have been experimenting with their food. My one older one cannot tolerate chicken by products, and the other cannot stand cooked chicken. I take note. I tried semi raw, too rich for them. They love cooked meat so if thats what turned their taste buds on great! I love the sardines, thank U will try it. Just a note about meat, freezing ur meat for 2 months after u purchase will help to diminish parasites, what in the heck are they feeding chicken anymore? I cannot stand it myself. Love to all thank U!
They are feeding chickens hormones and antibiotics unless you get organic.
do i need to give my dog vitamin E as well??
I use cod liver oil. It’s a brand that is verified for mercury levels.
What brand do you use, please. Thank you so much Kati
Probably carlsons. I'd check to make sure.
Sardines. Small fish 🐟 accumulate less toxins. Add to rice. Great for their coat and they love it.
When you give them small fish, do you remove the bones? What about the tiny ones ? Can small breeds digest it ?
We use Nordic naturals.
Algae oil vs Krell oil?
Safflower is a seed oil though. ???
Dr is it good to feed my dog sardines every day
Would this be good for bladder cancer chihuahua that has blood in his urine?
What about cod liver oil Doctor?
Can I add omega 3 in my dog's food for skin allergies? She has liver problems but nowadays is controlled with her diet and exercises?
Have you done a video on Milk Thistle?

Is Sunflower oil not high processed inflammatory omega 6 ?

You Re the only one that causions on salmon oil .
Ill try krill oil for myself .
I dont have a animal .

We give o cat a heaping tablespoon of tuna fish in oil every morning, she loves it, I hope this isn't hurting her.
What type of sardines an you gi e your dog.
how about 2-3 raw eggs a day ( farm raised)
I had thought sockeye salmon was low in Mercury and toxins. I don't give her supplements, just whole food.
I was under that impression as well… ?
Generally wild salmon is safe, as it is low on the food chain. Farmed salmon is not good as most are kept crowded together, in small pens/ponds and are more likely to have diseases. Read labels carefully. Contact the company if necessary.
Wild alaskan salmon is safe. Its farmed salmon you want to avoid
Krill oil?
I use green lipped mussels . I feel they are a more sustainable source .
Hello Debbie
How are you doing today?

Hi! What are the benefits would you say? Is it ok if mine furkid has my omegas that are very high grade? Thnx!!

Flax seed and chia seeds give the same Omega 3,6,9 without the unnecessary exposure to mercury with fish oil supplements. Since I have been giving my dog flax seed, he is not as anxious when storms roll-in especially electromagnetic storms without any rain.
Do you soak your Chia seeds in water? I do
Flax and Chia seeds are not absorbed by dogs. Google it
Unfortunately, the form of omega 3 in chia and flax and all land plants (ALA) is a form that they body needs to convert to EPA and DHA to do what we want, and dog's bodies are REALLY bad at this conversion (I've read only about 5% gets converted). So it's a lot more beneficial to use a marine source that is already EPA and DHA. But look for one that's purified.
@@katyhardy1972 Is there a study to support this 5% conversion that u can share? Most mainstream supplements for the canine contain Yeast and/or a yeast by-product including Ultra Oil (expensive). My canine is very sensitive to yeast, which is why he is only fed a RAW diet bc mainstream dog-food contains yeast. This yeast crap is also in Cesar salad dressing for humans.
@@valeriehamme8893 Do u feed your dog regular dog food? We cannot as yeast and/or yeast by-products are in commercial dog food. We feed our dog a RAW diet, so I do not soak in water bc he can be very finicky. Feeding RAW, they need less water than regular dog food which dries them out..
My dogs do well on flaxseed oil. I don't do fish oil.
Then they don't get any EPA/DHA...
@@miracoli16 Yes they do get EPA/DHA. I give my dogs spirulina.
I believe my dog has a food allergy. He's so picky I could never do a food trial. He hates everything unless I add turkey or chicken in with it.If it was up to him he'd eat chicken, pasta and veggies. It's frustrating for both of us.He rejects anything fishy.😢
Odd, I can't leave a comment unless it's a reply. I'm wondering what the good doctor or anyone thinks about Ahi flower or green lipped mussel oil supplement?
@@carmenflores2240 green lipped muscle is great for them. my vet recommends it over fish oil

Almost ALL cast did has fish oil. It is hard to find cat food that doesn't have fish oil as an ingredient. And the foods that doesn't have fish oil in them are extremely expensive.
Question while I’m early! Lol Hi! I feed my Frenchies sardines and occasionally can only get my hands on the ones that don’t say “Without salt added” is that a problem long term? 🥺 my girls have been eating them for about 7months now
Oooh good question
Hi Dr, hi everyone.
Our lab is a tad overweight. Do you discourage using fish oil on dogs who need to lose the extra weight?
Also, please clarify for future reference and personal knowledge. Dr. Jones said it is ok to give fish oil to dogs who might have pancreatitis?
Also, it is ok to give to dogs eho have kidney issues?
Would appreciate anyone's thoughts on the matter. We will starting to supplement our dogs with fish oil soon.
How about FLAX..
I have my older dog on Camelina oil. It has Omega 3 (36% ), Omega 6 (20%), Omega 9 (34%), saturates (10% ), Vit E (700-900mg/kg ppm) for joint health l, weight mgmt, and allergies. It is cold-pressed Camelina sativa seed oil (non-GMO). Any thoughts?
Where can you buy that?
Is that hemp oil then mostly, with vit E added?
Ironically I have a cat that whenever it has anything seafood based or “flavoured” including tuna or anything like that, he reacts with vomiting and doesn’t want to eat for about 24hrs. I’ve tried adding seafood in small doses over the years and once he eats more than about half a teaspoon it makes him sick. Is this normal? Obviously not in my mind, I’m assuming it’s a food allergy for him. I substitute the oils he is missing out on but giving him quarter of a teaspoon of organic olive oil from a local farm 2-3 times a week, and I do the same with my greyhound he gets 3/4 of a tablespoon on his dental dry food.
I spueeze one of mine and turmeric in my dogs food once a day.
We know that fatty liver in people is caused by fructose, sucrose, and other carbs, not fat. I've wondered about pancreatitis in dogs, since we know now, how beneficial fats are to our diets and theirs? What is the cause?
I have been giving my 14 year old dog good Quality fish oil for 2 years once a day his walking easier and helped his dry eyes a lot which stopped using the very expensive eye drops
I wish your Krill Oil came in a glass bottle of some kind. My dog hates pills in any form. I lose krill oil when I pop and squeeze the oil onto her food
Safflower oil is inflammatory.
Is there a homemade dewormer?
Diatomaceous earth? Pumpkin seeds? Black Seed Oil?
