which words? about the teeth? I dont think vets know much about teeth.. I know radiologists dont.. it's hilarious the reports they write (because they have to) that come back to the dentist. basically stating the patient has teeth lol.
Also a retired veterinarian, and wish that my education had been more alternative in nature. I have learned so much since retirement through research on health, and realize that so many "regular" treatments that I was taught were either not effective or actually harmful. Thanks for telling the truth!
I was a Vet Tech for 12 years. I have only known one other Vet that would speak as boldly as you do. Thank you! I am tired of Vets talking down to me or “marking my chart” b/c I prefer a titer test rather than the annual vaccines!
@jrose8283 it tests to see if your pet is still protected from the PREVIOUS vaccine. It basically proves they don't need another vaccine yet. Sometimes never.
When we found out our pug had cancer my vet said to stop the booster vaccines. They were kicking her immune system into overdrive and her Cancer would get worse afterwards. We’ve stopped 5 years ago, and switched to grain free food. I use an organic turmeric, coconut oil, and sunflower lectin paste. It’s stopped dead in its track. Hasn’t gotten bigger in 5 years. She’s turning 12 soon. 🙂
@@usa2342 We did homemade for a while, but it became difficult to balance. We searched and found The Honest Kitchen. It’s human grade. We purchase the grain free version and we haven’t changed since. They have both a dehydrated version, and kibble. Both our lab and our pug love it.
@@Mrs.WyldRice that’s what I feed my dog now! I give plain chicken in the morning with some supplement or herbal tincture. In the evening he gets chicken with kibbbles. Unfortunately my dog for some reason his lymph nodes gets swollen from vitamin E/ any kind of oil..
I give my woofs tumeric, garlic and herbs various, my sister got her alsation too....wait for it.... 15. The dog was a walking grow bag.. tilly had a great life 💓💞
You are an amazing person! Finally someone who has the knowledge & experience to stand up and say there's a better way. You're not controlled by money, so refreshing & actually restores my faith in human beings. What an asset to our pets you are 😊
I know you are getting blow back for "telling the truth". It is the sign of the times. But I was a vet assistant in the late 70s. (Yes iam now a senior citizen😊) I once asked my vet if our clinic dog needed his yearly vaccines. He looked at me and said "no" he had his puppy shots. When pressed further... he just rubbed his two fingers together like he was saying it was all about money. My dog and the clinic dog were around all the clients pets. They both lived to be 15! Iam just saying.... you figure it out.🤔
Yeah, when my cat had UTI issues, my EX-vet tried to pawn off a medicated/prescription food specifically for feline UTIs. I did my due diligence for awhile until the cost of the food became too much for my grad student budget to handle. So I went in to my vet's office, explained why the food was problematic for me, and asked for other options. That vet gave me nothing. NOTHING! Frustrated and feeling more than a little unsupported by a supposed veterinary professional, I went home and dived down the research rabbit hole. After what I learned, I switched my cat over to wet food for her meals, added purified water with electrolytes and 1/4 tsp organic apple cider vinegar to her food for each meal, and supplemented with organic d-mannose (the component in cranberries that helps with healthy urinary function) formulated specifically for cats. My cat hasn't had a UTI in seven years.
Wonderful...I did the same EXACT thing for my border collie after doing my own research and never purchased another bag of that horrible and unhealthy urinarycare food. Sadly, even though her recurring bladder stones dissolved (she did have surgery the first time for the stones) because of doing all of the above - it turned out she had cancer and it spread, which was mostly likely caused by the many UTIs she had 😭 Her vet ignored my pleas for help after I repeatedly told her Aussie’s belly was bloated feeling and would go down some and up again often, which she brushed off as has. I told her many times I did not think it was gas and not only that, Aussie also started having blood in her urine along with the urge to squat frequently...this turned into her feeling that she had to pee every 5-20 seconds on our daily and nightly walks! This lasted for many months as I kept telling her doctor that I thought it is probably cancer and how worried I was, but again she blew me off and said it probably is just a worse UTI/yeast infection and to treat her with more prescribed antibiotics! By the time I was able to get her into the only vet clinic who would give her a CT scan (it was a long wait!), they immediately told me within a few days after the scan that she has a mass and it spread to her lymph nodes. I absolutely blame her negligent doctor, and also myself for not advocating for my little girl much harder. I had to have her euthanized a couple of months later. I had her on many meds for the pain but deeply regret not doing it sooner, especially because her last 4 days she was not able to drink or eat because it must’ve been causing her too much pain at that point. I feel sick everyday knowing she possibly could’ve not suffered if her doctor simply listened to me and had the common sense to see that it was crystal clear that Aussie was greatly suffering and had cancer. Maybe, just maybe the tumor was small enough in the beginning of some of her many symptoms that it could’ve been removed. Or at least even if not, she certainly could’ve been on narcotics and other meds for the last 6months or so of her precious life.
Good for you! Running into same problem with my vet with allergies, expensive food and then expensive pills. Found out pills cause seizures and immediately tried to return them (before use) and they said sorry can’t return them. Looking for new food and new vet. You are giving me hope 😊
My diabetic cat almost died from Purina probiotic, apparently it’s recommended for blood glucose but my cat went for 5 days without food or water , my vet brought him back and found warnings on chewy about diabetic cats and pro/pre biotic.
Patient little Tula got popped three times by Mr grumpy pants Murray. The expression on her face was so precious. Thanks for the great advice … so many people are afraid to ask questions 😣
This man is a God send!! Hopefully veterinary care is not like the healthcare system, please be careful….don’t want to hear about him “missing” one day.
If your vets are not already holistic, tell them to step up their game and educate on holistic practices. Standard vets are mostly near horrible! They do tons of harm and give out bad advice.
A college (The University of Illinois) we’re going to put my diabetic cat down after he went into Ketoacidosis. 3000$ later they call me and say there’s nothing else they can do besides put him down or receive a 2000$ more deposit. I was so lost. I called my hometown vet and asked if she would possibly do an antibiotic treatment and see if he will get better. She said absolutely bring him in, we’ll do everything we can. A week later he came back to me. 7 units later- he’s regulated. I think he has Agrnomaly since he needs so much insulin and he seems to look a little bit and ogre lookin. But the fact that they brought him back to me and used their energies, knowledge, and skills to save him. He wasn’t ready and I wasn’t ready for him to go. I’m blessed for everyday I get with him now. 🙏🏼 he’s playing and happy and healthy and eating a lot of tiki cat haha.
@@angiesene8626 I miss all of our pups everyday too. I hope you get another someday. We got a tiny fluff ball this time, no regrets. I was never a small dog lover. I had no idea the intelligence of poodles! She uses buttons to talk and the names of 50 diff toys. My labs were smart but ADHD too! 🤪😂😂
I feed my 18 year old cat raw diet of chicken hearts, beef hearts, raw lean hamburger . I also give her canned sardines once since a while, packed in water. Cook her up a piece of salmon and give her cooked chicken meat. She’s doing great even though she’s on medication for hyperthyroidism, which I know came from feed her Blue Buffalo dry kibble. she was diagnosed about 6 years ago. Also giving her canned and dry cat food was always having uti’s. Now she hasn’t had one in a long time. There’s too much junk in their foods, just as our foods are full of preservatives and bad stuff.
@@sabrinapittsley2304 Yeah, we feed our dog and 3 cats a raw diet mixed with a little grain-free canned food. Once we had to switch to kibble and canned due to financial reasons (we did the change slowly over 2 weeks), and it was amazing how quickly they all went downhill; low energy, shedding, dull coats, and pretty much not happy. They LOVED the kibble (or kitty/doggy crack as we call it) but when we switched back to the raw/grain-free diet they immediately bounced back to the healthy best friends we knew and loved. I never thought of the sardines. We may have to try that.
As a medical professional and former breeder of Boxers 30+ years Dr Jones you are a breath of fresh air! I have been searching for a new vet, sadly my last 2 of 40 years have retired.... I have assisted in surgeries, blood transfusion, birthing etc. I can not believe what I have experienced in my search for a reasonable veterinarian, it's crazy I feel sorry for the new pet owners. Please keep doing what you're doing! Thanks so much for all you do!
We had a vet that had this attitude, like an old farm vet. Was a house call vet to boot. He'd answer questions by text or phone, most of the time tell you to watch, no unnecessary tests, honesty about vaccines and procedures and if they were even necessary, did not mind questions. That guy was always crazy busy. Everybody wanted him as their vet. (We moved out of his area, oh well.)
I lost my beautiful cat to injection site cancer. She suffered so much and it broke our hearts. I have vowed to stay clear of vaccinating my beautiful pets again.
What a GREAT video. I love your honesty and humbleness. I had a great family doctor. He never prescribed me a pill...he only asked me the same questions each time. "Which of your basic needs have you been neglecting? Are you eating healthy foods, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep and exercise? How's your family life? Are you loving and being loved back? Why don't you go home and take care of all your basic needs and if your trouble doesnt go away then come back and we'll go deeper into other basic needs." I never had to go back a second time. Best doctor ever because he taught me to heal myself...with my mind.
I took one of my puppies in to a vet. One of my pups was four weeks old and having seizures. When I took them to the vet, they tried to diagnose my dog with some thing that never existed. They assumed all the wrong possibilities of my dog and wanted to keep my puppy overnight and told me that it was a possibility I would have to do surgery and he may not live through the surgery. That surgery would it cost me close to $2000 or more. I signed a a waiver to take him home. I did my research, and I prayed to the Lord for an answer. I went did my research went to a local Rite Aid and I medicated my own dog. The next following day the vet called to check to see if my dog had passed. I told the vet what I thought it was and what I found out through my research. I also told him the puppy was doing excellent. He was astonished and shocked and he told me you learn something new every day. Never let a veterinarian tell you something if they don’t really know or have the correct answer go with your gut feeling and do the right thing for your pet. That Puppy is now with its rightful family, and he weighs 175 pounds. If I had listened to that veterinarian who told me he had 40 years experience. I would’ve lost the puppy and I would’ve had a huge vet bill but going with my gut doing my research and taking care of my dog myself and putting the time in I saved his life it’s veterinarians like you who save lives, knowledge is power, and some people take it for granted. We need more people like you in the world.
I am taking notes literally. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for your selfless knowledge dissemination. We need more humans like you. More doctors with pure intent.
Dr. Jones, you are such a beautiful soul, doing the right thing for our fur babies and telling the truth about the broken system. I am so grateful I found your channel! ❤
I’ve lost so much respect for vets. It’s become a money maker and not about the care of the pet. Do your homework and skip the vaccines and annual visits.
You're a good man Dr Jones. You have saved me money but more importantly you have saved my dogs from needless and possibly painful procedures and tests they didn't need. I stopped booster vaxxing my dogs 30 years ago. They get the first shot for Parvo and that's it. All have lived to decent ages. Thank you so much for your good work. 🙏🏆
I can't stop smiling. This is actually what I've been doing since the 90's. At first my vet wasn't really happy about that, in fact, he did not appreciate me - without a degree - questioning HIM - but I told him, that in the end we both just want what's best for the animal. So he has been indulging me, always coming to his practice armed with my notebook and pen, a list of questions and asking again if I have not understood something. We now actually have a good relationship. I have come with a couple of things to treat my animals with, that he did not know before. He has always looked into it and when he thought it makes sense, he would also recommend it. Same thing unfortunately does not go over well with most human doctors. I have gotten into quite some fights when I questioned the treatment of my old parents, especially my mother who was diagnosed with Dementia. I had a cat with Dementia once and we've had quite some success with giving her certain vitamins and changing the food components, so I was thinking it would also make sense for my mother, and guess what: now more and more doctors actually recommend this route - with success. Unfortunately for my mother, her doctors would just argue with me, insisting that I don't know what I am talking about (which is probably true), and they would not change a thing. My mother died shortly after and to this day I am still convinced, that she would have been better off with a change in treatment. It would not have healed her, but probably would have given her a better quality of life. I digress. Thank you for saying out loud, what many of us have suspected all along and giving us reason to continue questioning.
My son in law is a vet, he wouldn’t give a rats arse how you choose treat your animals, it is your choice. And remember, a vet surgeon has studied long and hard at vet school, longer than a doctor in fact, so if a Karen with zero qualifications walks in off the street and questions him he wouldn’t say a word, but I wouldn’t like to repeat what he be calling you in his head. As for a good relationship with your vet 🤣 that’s in your head Mrs Twit!
Unfortunately doctors dont cure they just give you bandaids, Ive had topical steriod withdrawal since infancy because I was prescribed hydrocortisone for mild dermatitis as a newborn and then boom uping the dose of corticosteroids, doctors said it was"Bad eczema" it wasnt it was steriod addiction... the cure for my " ezcema" was stopping all steriods.
I am sorry your mother had to endure such incompetence. I know where you're coming from. I took my mother into the ER for severe abdominal pain. It radiated to the back as well. Due to 'protocol', they asked their questions and decided she had a back ailment. I told them she had scoliosis and chronic back pain, but that the issue was abdominal. Of course I didn't know anything, so they proceeded. They found multiple myeloma in her spine. They also found a cracked vertebra from osteoporosis. She was 91. After 1 1/2 weeks in the hospital, in extreme pain all the while, now she is retaining much too much fluids. They decide to glue her vertebra with a technique that has never yielded good results, but a good bill. So, her doc asks me if the pain is gone now. I said "why would it be?" No one had looked at her ailment, they were sure it was cancer causing the pain, and now she was gulping air like a fish out of water. Now she had to have a diuretic as she was prone to flash pulmonary edemas due to her heart. I finally got him to get a GI doc to see her. It took 10 seconds to diagnose an ileus. He had me move her onto her stomach and raise her rear. She passed gas and the pain was relieved. In the meantime, for 1 1/2 weeks, she was tortured for no good reason other than these doctors were too smart to be told they were wrong. Her doc marked her as terminal, removed her from his patient list and recommended hospice. He was done with her. She was in home hospice for 3 years, got to see 2 more grandchildren born, had big family re-unions and died at home from a FPE, which she was prone to. I had previously changed her diet dramatically. NO sugar, processed food, box meals, fast food, vegetable oils...plenty of meats, butter, raw veggies, eggs...generally everything they had forbidden her for years. She lost weight, felt better and had energy to mow the yard and (most importantly) go shopping. At least I made her last years more than just breathing, she had a life. Her end of life took 1 day, not weeks or years.
Wow! That blows me away to hear about hospice lasting for so long. Your area must have an exceptional hospice that isnt sent to kill the patient off, as that is all i have experienced in my career as a caregiver in this small mountain California town. "Palliative" care is what i believe to be another name for murder.
I love the way Tula just sits there smiling throughout the video she’s a star and the cute Fat Cat made me laugh so nice and of course the most honest advice. Subscribed and shared Thank you Dr Jones you are sincerely appreciated.
Thank You for being honest , helping so many. May you always be abundantly blessed. I was a vet tech for awhile when young. Things I saw often heartbreaking. It led me to study alternative care for our dogs and ourselves, we all got healthier together. We later rescued 15 dogs over the years. I made their dog food, used many things you do, got all rescues back in great health. Had many that lived till 17 or 18. All outlived their usual lifespan by years, despite previous owners care. Some Vets we dropped, recognized the upsells quickly. Found a Vet that loved the animals, which sadly now a days can be rare. We had several different breeds, small to large, all loved one another, were such a joy to watch them enjoying their new lives together. We had no children, the dogs were our children. Just had to let our last precious rescue go over the rainbow bridge, to join the big family who went ahead of her. She was 18, 15 yrs. with us. Dogs are sent from above, such a blessing to those who appreciate all they bring to our lives. We are older now, but will love 1 more. Memories and pictures of those who passed on, Priceless. 💖
I can honestly say, thank you for confirming how I was feeling about certain things. My pit had a bump under her armpit, wasn't hard and not attatched to anything, it just seemed to be surrounded by fat. My ex-vet wanted to surgery, biopsy, blood test, etc at first I was very worried. Then I asked "what are the risk of the surgery to remove it?" he said there was none. I was immediately turned off. I work in a hospital that deals with surgeries, there's always a risk and something could go wrong. He didn't want to tell me. I went to a different vet in a different town and they said "keep an eye on it and check it once a week to see if if grows. I honestly wouldn't recommend rushing to do a surgery on your dog since she a little older (9 years) if it's not necessary. If you still feel like something else should be done, we can drain it, but if your dog is acting completely normal and isn't losing alot of weight." You and the other vet confirmed how I feel, i don't want to do anything thats uncessary as expose her to things for no real reason. So Thank you!
I love you. I’m a big believer in holistic DIY treatments, even if it calls for some OTC treatments. I’ve had a bad feeling about Vets lately. It seems all they care about is the $. I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and Prior to these, all of my animals live surpass the 20yr mark. I believe it’s because we steer clear of the vet unless absolutely necessary! I’m so happy to have found your channel. It’s taught me so much & have helped my pets more than you know! PS. The Kitty stole the show in this one. Lol. And patient Tula is the best dog ever!
I have been to several vets here and haven't been upsold on vaccines. In fact I've asked about yearly vaccines and was told they were not necessary ( except for rabies) . i do take a great interest in my pets health . What i find the most offensive is what a pet emergency hospital cost. It is a predatory practice. Sadly many pets are put down because owners can't afford to pay upfront 10x the cost for care.
My very old cat had symptoms of dementia and she had a seizures. They all stopped after giving her cbd oil. (Started from 2.5 % 1 drop twice a day - now we use 5% - 3 drops once a day) She is now usualself attention seeking queen 👸🐈
Extraordinary! Truth and saving so many people from broken hearts and hardships, especially now. Sending you and your family so much love and gratitude. Share, share, share everyone!!
I’m upset that I allowed them to give my puppy a Lyme vaccine last year. At the time, I didn’t know any better. I felt like they just put it on the list of vaccines. I should have asked questions. She certainly won’t be getting it again! She’s 2 and has her annual visit next week. I’m not sure what vaccines are necessary and which aren’t. Well I know the Lymes isn’t. I’ll have to look at her papers and see which other ones are one the list and research them.
@@rumham7466 Dr Jones says in another video which vaccines he would give his dog. Go to his youtube page and enter something like "vaccines" in the search bar to find it. I think he said he would only give the puppy shots, so that would be none for a 2 year old.
@@rumham7466 In his free e-book, he specified the vaccinations he recommends and even said that once is enough when they are puppies/kittens but if people skipped the vaccinations and their pets are already 5 years old, then these pet would be fine. I remember him saying that only anti-rabies needed some booster shots but after several years and even if you no longer get the boosters, that vaccine can still give the necessary protection.
I took in a stray. I didn't realize she was pregnant. One vet said she had a swollen liver, the other said she ate a big rabbit. I have been equally misdiagnosed by human doctors. It's actually very sad to feel like there's no safety net or reliable help out there. I wish that this was proven wrong by experience, but it is just validated more and more as time passes.
You are the best Dr. Andrew Jones! As we move from the 3rd to the 4th and 5th dimensions, you are way ahead of us. The 3rd dimensional pay for play attitude is going to change. At last we will do what is best for ourselves and our animals in the natural way we were supposed to when we were created.
So cute, Fluffy keeping Tula in line!! Thanks Doc. Incidently, your flea and tick spray recipe really works. The one with witchazel and aloe, etc. Its helped Piper so much, because any flea meds cause her seizures.
Dr Andrew, thank you!! You are a lifesaver!! Currently, we are treating our 11 year old pitbull with panacur anti parasitic for cancer. We are looking forward to his heath being restored!! ☺️
Once again Dr. Jones, thank you for an honest review of these common veterinary practices. We have changed vets often enough to know how truthful the "up-sale" is. Thankfully we have found one hard working an honest vet that actually puts the pet BEFORE the dollar.
Thank you for everything Dr Jones. Everything. for what you do for the animals, what you do for the pet parents, and for questioning the narrative. You are sooo appreciated. And you have a great comment section, too!
One thing I am grateful about with our vet is that he is very straight forward and no nonsense. We only had the puppy injections for our dogs and none since and he has never suggested anything dental, he didn't even think it was worth it to give our dog another rabies vaccine after she went missing for 10 hours during a rabies outbreak since she wasn't bitten or anything. Hes open to alternative medications as long as there's substantial medical evidence it works. He doesn't even do operations unless it's very necessary, our dog had abnormal anal glands and he didn't want to do any unnecessary surgery until her anal glands became enough of a problem after they became badly infected. He's also very open to us asking any questions we want. Definitely a great vet who has his personal number as the emergency number
You are a man of principle and how rare is that? I'm sure we would all say 'you're welcome' - because you are the number one natural health vet! I wonder how many animals you have helped, improved their quality of life, even saved because you took time to share your knowledge. The information is crystal clear; what to do and how, what to buy and how much to give - you are empowering people who love their pets to be able to treat many, many conditions with confidence and bluntly, without grossly inflated prices that many of us simply can't afford!
Hi - I'm in the UK. I had a most beautiful Wheaten x Collie, she was amazing. She never ever ailed anything, She had her puppy shots (breeder did them) I never got her jabbed again. Last summer ages 9, she started with shortness of breath, mostly after walking, I thought it could be that she'd gained a few pounds, so we started feeding her just pure chicken and cut back on the kibble. We took her to the vet, still only mildly short of breath. Paid £250.00 for a 5 minute consult and in-house blood tests (basic FBC) and was told to bring her back for X-ray the next day. We went to collect her as told at 3pm, were left waiting in the surgery for 40 minutes (vet in a meeting or something) He came down, put her films up on the screen, said she had some kind of mass in her lungs - recommended further scans etc (she wasn't insured and we were already now looking at another £800.00 for the sedation and x-ray, so I had to say to what end, she's 9 with lung cancer, what can be done even if we do further diagnostics, he said very little other than to keep her comfortable. So he sent us off wit huge doses of prednisolone 2mg per kg twice daily, and diuretics to try and counter the fluid in her lungs. She was still only mildly short of breath and seemed otherwise well and happy. So I took her home, it was the weekend and started her on the tablets. Her abdomen blew out with an ascites so tight and she became so breathless, that every breath was a struggle - 2 days later, we had to have her put to sleep. I complained bitterly, I truly believe that the medication exacerbated her condition, and those final days her suffering was beyond anything I'd ever experienced. We were given a bill for £1,300 for a dead dog. Thank you for doing what you do. I now have a new puppy and will follow you to ensure she stays well.
Fantastic advice! My vet dumped me after I wrote a very respectful letter asking about the reasoning behind the increasing number of injections they recommend at every visit. At her last visit, chihuahua developed severe swelling at her injection site, the hair fell out and the skin turned black. A friend suggested colloidal silver and it did restore her skin and the hair did grow back. My friend also told me that injections are universal and not adjusted to the size, weight or age of the dog being injected. I was horrified! My vet of 40 years (same office, different doctors through the years) called me and we discussed my letter to her at length. It was a very good conversation, however she didn’t change her stance on her desire to use all of her patients as pin cushions. I am currently “vet-less” and getting a new puppy in 2 weeks…..I’m a bit apprehensive about how to vet this new puppy. Looking back, I’ve had issues with my pets I can easily link to being injection related. (I don’t have the heart to call them “vaccines” as they don’t do the job the definition of vaccine calls them to do.) I’m so thankful you are out here and providing animal lovers with alternatives to dangerous and harmful “treatments” developed by for-profit pharmaceutical companies and touted by for-profit animal care centers. It’s unbelievable and unconscionable to me to see how much, just in my lifetime, the medical community is no longer interested in healing and making whole humanity and ‘animanity.’ It is profit over heath at our expense. It’s sociopathic. So thank you again for being here!
I only get a blood panel upon first visit and any emergencies thereafter. My cat Pluff saw the vet for the first time when she was 12 yrs old. Blood panel was normal and absolutely no vaxes. Thanks Doc for that list.
This has made me appreciate what a great vet i have, as he nearly always has a 'wait and see' attitude. Dog limping? Rest a few days and see how they go. Coughing? Try some honey for a few days and see how they go. My dog suffered a slab fracture of a tooth about 5 years ago; my vet gave it a good poke and said that as it wasnt painful (no nerve exposure) then it really didnt require removing unless it ever showed signs of being an issue. Another vet a saw when my dog was referred for a separate issue, noted this fracture and was going on about how my dog should have full dental xrays and to have the tooth removed ASAP. Went back to my usual vet as he just chuckled and said i could if i wanted to, but he didnt feel it was in my dogs best interest due to what tooth it is and how difficult they can be to remove. I have pet insurance that covers me for up to £12,000 a year, and still my vet wont do tests or operations that he doesnt feel necessary. Ive only ever come across one vet that i thought was trying to push unnecessary tests and products on me, and that was a newly qualified locum. I do think the business and profit side of the veterinary world is something that is given a lot of attention during training these days.
Dr Jones, I still watch your videos and share them with my friend's even though I lost my dog Bengi last October 😢 You helped me with him the last 2 years of his live because even though he had heart issues since 8 years old abd needed to be on heart medication, he had lots of tummy issues and I cooked his food from your recipes instead of the nasty expensive dry and canned food they wanted him to eat when he started having kidney issues. He wouldn't eat it anyway. I also bought your supplements and cbc oil for him Thank you for caring so much for the animals. Your the best ❤
Thank you for all your help! When mys sisters cat got a puffy and weepy eye i was so worried but she sent me your videos and i followed your advice and used some green tea but i didnt have a dropper so i used some gauze to soak it and put it over her closed eyes and it helped immediately and went away in a couple of days ❤
I have been suspicious of all the vaccines my cats have had over the years, but then feel guilty when they're a couple of years out-of-date (so to speak). I'm glad I watched this.
Great video Dr. Andrew! While I agree with most of your points, I would also like to stress the importance of preventative care. Dental disease is one of the most overlooked and underestimated health problems in pets, and is often the main culprit leading to heart and kidney disease. And while I do agree that most mild cases of dental disease can be treated at home, once it progresses to stage 2 and 3 it becomes dangerous and very difficult to manage. It is not always easy to see the exact extent of the periodontal disease with the eye, especially in the back molars, so dental X rays do provide us with more information on whether or not a tooth should be removed in order to get rid of severe infections that could potentially spread through the blood stream to other organs. Also, patients with kidney and heart disease have a much better outcome when these diseases are detected early on in life, so by performing geriatric screening tests like blood tests, X rays and ultrasounds at the age of 8 years is often a good idea to detect these problems before it becomes too late to treat and manage. While I am also personally a strong advocate for saving my clients money, I believe it is important to educate pet owners on why these tests are important and, therefore, why vets often recommend them, as by stating that these are just money making methods is not really fair and not doing the already struggling vet industry any justice. Just my two cents :)
Dr. Jones, great information, even, better advice! This is a wonderful example of how to improve the quality of your life (&, your dog/cat's life, too) by watching youtube! DOG MAINTENANCE My 13 year old W. Corgi, aside from scheduled vaccinations, has been to a vet, twice, in his life. Once, for ingesting my grandma's high blood pressure pills. The other, for ingesting marijuana from walking him at the local high school. Other than those two "emergencies", I've had no need... 1. I make his food (including 2 cups of chicken broth & dashi (bonito flakes & seaweed) soup), 2. Regular daily exercise, and 3. Daily cleanings with a clean, damp towel, twice a day, and inspections for signs of inflammation, infections or injury (actually, he's never needed a "bath" in 13 years!) Even with his "advancing" age, his coat is spectacular, his eyes are like jewels and his teeth are, still, bright white. Strangers we meet on the street think he's a "puppy"! Good health has it rewards but it comes at a "cost". It's all about putting in the work every single day! If you want to own a animal in peak health their entire life, you have to apply time and effort, 24/7/365. It ain't rocket science. It's all about reaping maximum returns on one of life's great "investments": Your loyal buddy! Dogs need daily "maintenance"! PS: There's no need to be rude to any vet, but whenever they say, "When was the last time your dog had...?", that's what I refer to as "chumming". They're throwing out bait and looking to get a "hookup". &, it works, every time!... Except, on me!
I was a vet tech and I never thought I would hear these words from a veterinarian! You're awesome!
exactly
he's BIG TIME Awesome !!
which words? about the teeth? I dont think vets know much about teeth.. I know radiologists dont.. it's hilarious the reports they write (because they have to) that come back to the dentist. basically stating the patient has teeth lol.
Its why he had to retire.
@@pattiowensby7899 obviously.... many Doctors have also for same reasons.
Also a retired veterinarian, and wish that my education had been more alternative in nature. I have learned so much since retirement through research on health,
and realize that so many "regular" treatments that I was taught were either not effective or actually harmful. Thanks for telling the truth!
A bit like the human vaccines, as it turns out.
I hope more people will wake up to the HARM (not helping) to our animals and Humans #Factsmatter to us ALL
No harm in coming out of retirement. 😊
@@factsmatter4030 I am very anti “ hope” . Take action and tell your vets they must self educate and switch to holistic and homeopathic vets.
The truth is out at last! 😊
I was a Vet Tech for 12 years. I have only known one other Vet that would speak as boldly as you do. Thank you! I am tired of Vets talking down to me or “marking my chart” b/c I prefer a titer test rather than the annual vaccines!
Thank you for sticking up for our pets!!! We need more people like you in this business. 😭😭😭
How expensive is a titer test?
What is a titer test?
@@jrose8283It’s a test for antibodies. If your pet shows antibodies for a specific disease, then they don’t necessarily need to get the vaccine.
Do you mean grain free kibbles or real home cooked food?
@@usa2342 We did homemade for a while, but it became difficult to balance.
We searched and found The Honest Kitchen. It’s human grade. We purchase the grain free version and we haven’t changed since. They have both a dehydrated version, and kibble. Both our lab and our pug love it.
@Lynze520 What kind of cancer did your dog have?
@@Mrs.WyldRice that’s what I feed my dog now! I give plain chicken in the morning with some supplement or herbal tincture.

I would like to know more about your treatment. How much d-mannose did you use and how often? What kind of electrolytes?
@@threefreaksonaleash6619 Question: The cancer started after you took her off the prescription diet?
Good for you! Running into same problem with my vet with allergies, expensive food and then expensive pills. Found out pills cause seizures and immediately tried to return them (before use) and they said sorry can’t return them. Looking for new food and new vet. You are giving me hope 😊
My diabetic cat almost died from Purina probiotic, apparently it’s recommended for blood glucose but my cat went for 5 days without food or water , my vet brought him back and found warnings on chewy about diabetic cats and pro/pre biotic.

I love your honesty. Been working almost 30 years as a vet tech and I totally agree with you. People do too much to their pets.
We just live them more than people 😆. It's hard to not want to do 100% for something that depends in you to live and is the most innocent 🥺

Same thing happened to us. We were never told this could happen.
Wow. I would LOVE to have a doc like that!

When I was young our first cat was inside and outside and never had a vet visit!! lived to be 19 years old !!
The cat 🤣😭😭 pawing Tula! It’s like watching children

I hope you know how much you and your advice is appreciated. Thank you so much for your honesty and love for animals. 🙇♀️

What a sweet little dog to put up with the big cat boxing her. Great advice doc!

I love this honest vet! Thank you so much for telling us the truth🥰
Wonderful video! Thank you for confirming a lot of what I've been thinking. You are a breath of fresh air, as always 🥰
Excellent advice! All this applies to humans seeing doctors, as well. Think for yourself. Thank you, Doc!!!
Congratulations on your retirement! 🥂🍾🎉 Enjoy! Thank you for all of your excellent advice!
Thank you for all these video's.
I praise you for standing up for our pets against the industry.
They hate to be questioned, but it is much needed.
So thank you again for being here!
i enjoyed watching fluffy being consistently grumpy the entire video
I APPRECIATE your HONEST Truth!!! Thank Q!
That is one well behaved sweet dog!!! 😂 even when the cat wAs bopping him! He stayed in place. ❤️
You are the best! Thank you Doctor for all your help and tips! ❤️❤️❤️
Glad you like them!
SO REFRESHINGLY HONEST. SHAME THERE ARE NOT MANY LIKE YOU.
Thank you so much! Appreciate the truth, we don’t get much of that anymore.
Thank you for raising awareness, this is a good deed for humanity and animals. I hope others will follow your example👏
Thank You, Dr Jones. I agree and practice same way as You.
Dr Jones, I still watch your videos and share them with my friend's even though I lost my dog Bengi last October 😢
You helped me with him the last 2 years of his live because even though he had heart issues since 8 years old abd needed to be on heart medication, he had lots of tummy issues and I cooked his food from your recipes instead of the nasty expensive dry and canned food they wanted him to eat when he started having kidney issues.
He wouldn't eat it anyway.
I also bought your supplements and cbc oil for him
Thank you for caring so much for the animals. Your the best ❤
you are awesome for sharing with us, I appreciate you so much!
Excellent, they don’t like to be questioned.
And of course… appreciate you and what you are doing
Hahaha Murray is grumpy, thank you for including him in the video 😀
Thank you for all your help! When mys sisters cat got a puffy and weepy eye i was so worried but she sent me your videos and i followed your advice and used some green tea but i didnt have a dropper so i used some gauze to soak it and put it over her closed eyes and it helped immediately and went away in a couple of days ❤
I have been suspicious of all the vaccines my cats have had over the years, but then feel guilty when they're a couple of years out-of-date (so to speak). I'm glad I watched this.
I gave my cats zero shots after kittenhood and never felt the least bad about it.
Poor dog. The cat kept bopping him. So funny
I so respect your attitude. Your words of wisdom go beyond our pets and apply just as well, or MORE, to ourSelves as intelligent Huemans.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us! Much appreciated!
So many more vets should be like you.
1. I make his food (including 2 cups of chicken broth & dashi (bonito flakes & seaweed) soup),
2. Regular daily exercise, and
3. Daily cleanings with a clean, damp towel, twice a day, and inspections for signs of inflammation, infections or injury (actually, he's never needed a "bath" in 13 years!)
Even with his "advancing" age, his coat is spectacular, his eyes are like jewels and his teeth are, still, bright white.
I had a good giggle at Murray's antics during your presentation 🤣😂🤣 ... so typically kitty!! Thanks for great video's. Best wishes from Cape Town.❤🇿🇦
me too! 🤣 and thinking all the while what a good dog to stay sitting still as he was clearly cautious of the cat - also Capetonian here
God bless you, Doctor! We are so grateful for your words of wisdom! We appreciate truth-tellers like you!
