I’ve been using plaqueoff for years. My yorkie Teddie gets a A + from vet every-time and he’s 7 - no plaque never had a cleaning at vet office. I do brush 1-2 times a week.
I started brushing my doodle’s teeth every day as a small puppy. He hates it but tolerates it well because it’s routine.
Tula is a trooper
I've been coating their biscuits with honey/ coconut oil mixture. And give it to them for their bed time treat. When they crunch the biscuits the mixture gets into every cranny of their teeth and gums.
Thank You Dr. Jones, this information is a Godsend for all of us with doggies and cats who do not want us manually brushing their teeth 😁 🦷💯👍🏼💙
Great suggestions! Good girl, Tula💕 so funny she lets u do all if that but no “dental cleaning”😆 Appreciate all u do for us Doc!
Tula is incredibly good. I love that she's such a docile demo-dog!
Awesome, video! I'd also like to advocate for old fashioned green beans (string beans, French beans). They can be a 1 tbsp topper to raw or kibble diets and they add fiber to the diet and they melt plaque. It works on both my dogs, who hate vegetables but love green beans. I used the unsalted canned or I buy fresh or frozen and boil till cooked. then let cool and add to meals. (I don't feed pets raw vegetables due to gas and bloating.)
Oh I love this thank you 🩷
Thanks cause trying to get in my cat’s mouth to brush is like trying to get in Fort Knox! Then she looks at me like “Just stop. Why are you doing this? I’ll never open my mouth.” (Insert classic cat stare). 😂
Tula is such a good patient❤❤❤
You read my mind! I was just thinking yesterday, “I hope he does a dental care episode!” Many thanks! 👏 👏
Love the way the dog is sitting patiently, and licking his lips in anticipation
Bless you Dr. Jones.
Tula is such a lovely model, lets you demo everything on her!!!!
When I first got my pomeranian she was 18 months old. I took her to the vet. Vet said according to how bad her teeth was she was 8 yrs old. I started brushing her teeth daily and used coconut oil. I took pics of her teeth to monitor her progress. There was so much improvement. I just recently noticed my 7 yr old male Pom is starting to get the tarter and plaque on his teeth too so now I have to come up with a game plan for HIM. He’s not as cooperative in getting his mouth messed with so I think this is gonna be fun, NOT! Btw I knew my girl was actually 18 months and not 8 yrs cuz I had her paperwork.
That really something how your Vet thought your Pom was 8 yrs by her teeth when she was really only 18 months. I wish I'd know this info years ago for my little rescue dogs. They had bad teeth and were impossible to let me clean their teeth. It was like they thought I was going to torture them or something.
@@alexandrakennedy8078 tbh I think my Willow was kept in a cage all her life and just neglected. When I first got her her paws were all splayed out like she had been in a cage all that time. Not too long after I got her she started having seizures and I’m sure they didn’t just start when I got her. So either she was so neglected that the owner never saw the seizures or she knew about them and that’s why she decided to get rid of her. I’ll never know but she’s in safe hands now. When she came to me she was shaved down to bare skin and when I asked the lady why she did that, cuz everyone knows you don’t shave Poms like that, she told me she didn’t like cleaning up all the fur she shedded a few times a year. Poms SHED! If you don’t want a dog that has all that fur and sheds get a freaking chihuahua! Can you tell I’m STILL pissed even after 2 yrs?? Willow is the sweetest dog ever, despite where she came from.
@@mystikskye did you use a pet toothbrush or just your finger with the coconut oil? Thank you!!!
@@dianasimplifies I used a toothbrush and sometimes used a rechargeable sonic toothbrush. I actually just bought a new one the other day to use on my boy. Luckily I’ve never had a problem using any kind of device like that on my dogs. I use a dremel for their nails and the only thing I have to watch out for with that is sometimes I get the fur on their paws twisted up in it but even doing that every so often doesn’t make them afraid of me using it! If you think your dog wouldn’t like the toothbrush then you could use your finger or even a qtip.
@@mystikskye ok thx..I've tried the little doggy brush you stick on your finger. He's not really into it at all lol
Thank you, Dr. Jones and Tula! Tula is such a good girl!
Thank you so much!!! Love these remedies 🧡🐾

Great suggestions! You are wonderful as always. Thank you very much! 🌸🙏🌸

Amazing tips thank you!
Thank you! Great information as always. I will try one of these suggestions on my 15 year old dog.
Great and timely information Dr. Jones! I will definitely try these tips. I give my doggies the plaque off chews and they gave help. Thank you 🙏🐶🐶
Great video Dr. Jones! Curious if you have heard anything about 1-tdc and if so, if you have any opinions on it.
A million thanks Dr Jones. Vet told me my cat has gingivitis. I am looking for natural remedy. Luckily I found this video.
Thank you so much for this information! So this if ok for kitty cats and people, too! Great info. ❤️
Another great helpful informative video. Esp helpful for those that are fed up with ridiculous costs of vet care. Dental is at the top. It's incredibly helpful to be given your suggestions for at home care instead of doing nothing!
This was right on time. I am going to give the coconut oil a try. Thank you
I think I love you and all your knowledge!!
Thank you
You are the best!! Thanks
Thank you Dr. Jones. GOD BLESS👍🎯🙏❤
My dog is so good he lets me do absolutely anything to him but do anything inside his mouth. Thank you so much for this information it's a huge help. I have been using the coconut oil and now I have the other products to add 😊
this video was gold for me. I have a rescue who had a very bad first 3 yrs of her life, and when I got her, she did have one teeth cleaning under anesthesia. She developed a stage IV heart murmuur and mitral valve issue the next year, so unfortunately she cannot go under anesthesia for cleaning. Compared to Tula, I cannot hardly even see her teeth; that is how hard it is for me to get into her mouth. Ive tried brushing with the finger brushes, a small brush, you name it but it is like wrestling an alligator each time I brush. I am going to try these remedies of which I have most of them at the moment. Cheap alternatives as well. Thank you so much for this.
Thank you so much . I’m Certainly going to try these . Especially the coconut oil 👍
Thank you, that's amazing!!
Thanks soooo much!! I love your videos!
Thank you sir
For great help and information 👍
Thank you Dr Jones I really appreciate your videos,
Glad you like them!
Iv not had much luck with the tooth brush either, the silicone finger toothbrush a little better, but she’s not a fan of either really.
Thank you for this useful information, as there are so many things on the market, il be trying some of your suggestions! 👍
Great to see coconut oil being used. I use it myself too. After brushing my teeth, I swish it around my mouth as the last thing I do. I have found that the benefits are any plague sloths off and my gums are healthier too.
Coconut oil is amazing within a week I noticed an improvement in of dogs breath.
Great tips! Thank you!
Thank you. So appreciated.
Thanks dr J. I’ll give it a try
Good girl, Tula❤. Thx Doctor.
God bless you for all you do. Thank you😇❤️🙏
You are so welcome
I will try a few of these tricks on myself!
Very helpful video! So many doggies don’t like teeth brushed.
Glad it was helpful!
Omg thank you! Nice to see an actual vet even have issues. Too many talk of brushing the dog's teeth, but even if raised with mouths being touched, and trained to it, some just cannot stand it. And fight the teeth brushing. They fight the care. More so when the dogs age. They get crankyyyy. Lol
My vet told me he doesn't brush his dogs teeth. He just takes them in and does dentals on them. Now he's in with a vet demanding a bunch of vaccines prior to surgery so I'm having to find other alternatives which is prob good bc the dentals are kind of short lived for my dog. His breath is awful. Maybe some of these tips will help.
Thank you doctor Jones. Now I’ll know what to do with all 4 of my dogs.
After all that demo on how to clean the dog’s teeth Tula is going to end up with a Colgate smile ✨😬 ✨
Thank you for all your advice and natural remedies in caring for our dogs. Vet visits are expensive these days and not everyone can afford it. I love that there are better and natural ways to care for our furry friend's dental and overall health. So thank you so much! 😊🐶💕
Thank you for all the remedies. Do raw bones help with keeping teeth clean?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. The expense of dental work here in California for your animals is astronomical. I will definitely give this a try. Have a great day m
Wonderful!
Tula is such a good grl.
Thank you for the information
Thank You, doctor!! I am low income, have 12 cats, and you help me SO much to take daily care of them with your advice.
Very interesting, thanks Doc !!!
Thanks!
Dr. Jones💌🐾,
Unreal how my boy LOVES when it's time to brush his teeth 🪥 even flossing (where he just chews the string 🤦♀️😂). I would prefer a natural toothpaste instead of the vet given one. I will try these though , awesome video again 💌
What a good girl!❤
Good content, a lot of information. Would have been even more useful if outlined an order or priority or efficacy of these products because I certainly don't have time to use all of them on my dog.
Thanks Dr. was using Plaque off for many, many years until a Vet told me to stop using it.(I'm going to start again)
She has plaque build up even though she eats health and eats dog treats for teeth.
(#2 types)
Thanks! 😊
Great info.
Also several have commented that once the vets sedate them to “clean/ scale ie scrape their teeth” it’s like they scrape off the protective coating and then they need regular cleanings. More Mula of course
Thank you so very much!!
Thank you for your info.
Thanks doc. I bought some cotton gloves that have a finish that is not smooth. I've been rubbing coconut oil on my dogs teeth and gums with the gloves because I can't do much with a tooth brush in her mouth. I'm gonna try your other suggestions.
Thank you so much Dr. I appreciate you soooooo much. My Maltese has a little Tartar and I immediately came to your videos💃🏽. By the way does green tea stain teeth? Blessings
Alright! Thank you for the tips for oral care Doc 😉
Will have to try
This is exactly what I need for my pets! Thank you so much! ❤
You're so welcome!
@@VeterinarySecrets hey my dog loves your cbd oil thank you ❤❤
Raw bones will clean even bad tarter buildup if you can get an older dog to chew. May take a few times since the teeth/gums may be sensitive. If they chew and clean up some of the tarter, give them a few days and more bone and they will progress to more teeth.
I was curious about your impression of "Tropiclean Fresh Breath", I have been using it on my dog since he was a pup, about 10 years. It's Active Ingredients are Cetylpyridinium Chhloride 4 mg, Green Tee Extract 0.6 mg, and Zinc Gluconate 0.5 mg. I add it to his water as directed. I would use this, and "Denta-Stix", which I don't use currently. Most of his teeth are bright white, with the exception of the read molars which may have a slight amount of tarter. It also has seemed to keep his breath fresh. I also have been giving him Rawhide sticks wrapped in chicken jerky, however he doesn't seem to chew up the rawhide stick anymore with the rare exception.
Can you please do a follow-up video on how the combination of Plaque Off and coconut oil worked for you? Thank you!
I've seen noticable results from the Bark bright sticks and gel in my retired greyhounds, which have notoriously bad teeth.
Thank you! My Poodles is the same way...hates tooth brushing.
Mine too!
Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing
These are great. My dogs hate having their teeth even scaled with gauze.
Could I possibly put coconut oil on a toy they like to chew or does it have to be rubbed on to their teeth and gums? Obviously the toy would have to be washed more often
Just what I needed! My Labrador is super sweet and gentle and tolerant in every way, except for letting me do her nails and her teeth. I give her dental chews but I want something else I can do more frequently. She does let me handle her mouth with my hands so this’ll be good. It’s just when she sees that brush or even the little brush that goes over the finger she clamps that mouth shut and squirms away. Lol
Same with my Cockapoo.
Love it thanks for sharing
generic kelp powder works just as good. but yes i think the iodine content limits the amount you can give. i accidentally imbalanced my dog's diet with too much iodine with a fish head bone broth that I made and during that time his raw meaty bone scraped off A LOT of stubborn plaque. i correct the iodine dosage though after i found out
Thank you 😊
What a good girl!
Studies: about green tea studies, those who drink a lot of green tea also have a higher percentage of people who don't eat sweets, junk food, lots of vegetarians and other "granola" types a a higher than normal percentage in the mix. So it might not even be the tea. I'm not saying it doesn't work - just saying some of these studies don't think of everything, and methodology might be off.
After 1 -2 weeks of transitioning to a raw diet...went from terrible tartar to pearly whites! Seriously...worth considering
I’ve been brushing my dogs teeth every night but she fights like crazy. I need to scale her teeth, but she won’t let me. I wish she would chew healthy bones and other natural teeth cleaners, but she’s not a chewer. So all these natural helps are beneficial as part of her overall health plan.
Please update us in 3-6 months to let us know if this is helping Tula!
