My black lab Annie, lets me brush her teeth, do her nails, give her a bath, put drops in her eyes and ears. She is the sweetest dog and has never growled at anyone. She leaves the birds and the baby bunnies alone when they’re in the yard. I told her to leave it and she knows what that means. She has been Through raising three other puppies of my children and training them. I have five grandchildren and she loves on them. She’s been the best dog ever and I feel that God has blessed me with a kind soul
@@Spacecadet0720 thank you. She is such a sweet girl. I keep praying that she stays healthy for a long time. We joke, it’s our $50 dog. She is not a purebred. I actually have 3 different neighbors that went and got dogs because they saw how sweet she was. Lol
Trade ya for a 140 lb pure white Great Pyrenees? She heavily inspects any items in my hands that might be coming near her face or toes and is always on to me before I get within 6" of her! Wouldn't be a totally fair trade, but she used to have a pet lionhead bunny! He was but 4 lbs full grown and white as snow like my dog. Spent his first few weeks away from his mother hiding under my dogs tail, fully convinced this was his new mother, not noticing the 135 lb and 25" weight and height difference. They played little games together. But he was such a bratty bunny! When my dog got tired of his antics (he was on the go 24/7, no breaks), she'd either use one huge paw to flatten him to the floor or pick him up in her mouth, his head hanging out of one side of her mouth and his tail out the other, with the ENTIRE rest of him inside her mouth! She'd just hold him, either under her paw or in her mouth, and he'd be completely still as he waited for her to get bored of that, then she'd release him. And he'd go straight back to challenging her to catch him like the whole thing was just another game! She could have, and probably had a right to, end him 100 times over! But she didn't. The little prankster never once realized how close he was to Heaven almost on the daily. I learned when it was time to put the little mini-monster into his own room to save the sanity of my dog and myself. So, she's kind of sweet like your Annie? Sort of...

Thank you for this info Doc! Just spent over 5k …my 8yr old chihuahua had so much tooth decay the infection was rotting down in her jaw bone. Can’t imagine the pain she was in. Plus she has congestive heart failure. Our vet sent us to University of TN so she would have a chance at surviving the surgery to remove all her teeth. Her anesthesiologist said they had a tough time keeping her alive…but she made it…2 days later she was acting like a puppy. I think she was so grateful to be out of pain. It’s going to take us a long time to payoff that debt but worth every penny. Do right by your precious companions!

Thank you for the validation for doing what works for you and your dog. My dog has some tartar but I don’t want to put her through anesthesia if I don’t have to. All my googling says hand scaling is a no-no for non-professionals but my dog is so cooperative and it works for us ❤ it has made a huge difference
Our pets get cavities for many of the same reasons we do. Wrong bacteria in their mouths due to the high carbohydrate diets, not enough minerals for the teeth to remineralize, and their food is too soft to "brush" their teeth. I found that giving my cats whole raw chicken hearts forces them to chew more, which helps clean their teeth. Plus heart contains a lot of taurine which is a vital amino acid for our pets' hearts. I hope this helps.
@@rentalinquiry133 I feed the raw chicken hearts to my cats once or twice a week. You can lightly cook the hearts if you prefer. I give each cat 3-4 hearts per feeding. Finding hearts can be a bit of a challenge. Try a local butcher or an ethnic market. They freeze well too, so I stock up when I buy them.

Thank you for the dental advice. I lost my little Pomeranian because I'm on social security I managed to get her teeth clean once and I worked on them with peroxide all the time but she still got infection in her heart and kidneys. My little terrier has terrible teeth and it is way beyond belief what they're charging so thank you so much this will probably extend her life.
Absolutely delighted. I use a teaspoon tumeric whenever I cook dogfood as an anti inflammatory and a spoon of rosemary apple vinegar extract. I will in the future add coconut oil and black pepper and ginger. Thank you for the inspiration. 😊
Tula went through all of the suggestions 😂 but Dr. ate the carrots 🥕 what happened? I love it. Should I try all of the remedies? Could we have put the honey in the tea? Yes, thank you 😊
Dental cleanings where I live are $1,200+ which is crazy to me. I use coconut oil and probiotics to brush my Oliver's teeth, and will be adding some of the options you showed in the video. Thank you! Question: what do you think of using clay based toothpastes? I found one formulated for dogs without any "funky" ingredients. The ingredients are Clay, bentonite clay, diatomaceus earth, coconut oil, and papain essential oils. I have not bought it and would love to know your thoughts. Thanks so much.
I use a homemade toothpaste of mainly coconut oil with some baking soda and peppermint oil and my dogs don’t like it, but they tolerate it and I don’t even do it every day and their teeth are very good. It’s also probably way cheaper to make that than by whatever you’re looking at. Good luck
Tula is a very patient dog! We use seaweed products in the UK that sweeten the breath and also work on plaque. A small scoop sprinkled over his meal every day has made a big difference

One slip, or your pet should jump unexpectedly, and if you didn't know your pet had underlying heart issues.... that bacteria laden blood goes straight to the heart, same as for humans, prophylactic antibiotics should be in use. And you won't know right away your pet is sick or why.
My dog bites. He does not let us fuss over anything. Teeth, ears, toe nails. Yes we stay calm, use rewards. When we brought him home from the last dental cleaning he was sedated for two days. He did not like it and made me feel very nervous. Hope your advice works. I am trying toot sweat. Thanks❤
My cocker is this way. i can pet him all day, but the second I bring out scissors, clippers, hair clippers, tooth brushes he runs. or he flip flops enough and knows how to position himself until ya can't do anything to him. Here in Portugal, our dog is scheduled for dental cleaning under anesthesia here in Portugal. €135! It is outrageous the hyped up vet prices in the U.S.
My pup love frozen carrots with a tad of coconut oil and also frozen cucumbers. I told my sister to do the same for her pups, and the vet was surprised when he saw her pups because their yeeth were cleaner than the last visit.
I had a vet say my GSD would need teeth cleaning soon. Saw your vid about crumps almost a year ago....she gets a couple a week for over 6 months ago...her teeth are free from tarter. Crumps is the best!

I keep seeing ads for Petlab co dental powder and it just seems too good to be true. Is this powder actually safe and effective? Wondering your thoughts, thanks.
@@outdoorsmom2000 I used it once and my dog did not respond to it well. It gave her upset stomach and she seemed off (almost shaky/jittery)that day. That was with both the powder and the water additive version so never used it again. I have since used the neem bark powder mixed with coconut oil, and bee propolis spray, recommended on this channel, with no ill effects.
@@outdoorsmom2000 it’s too soon to tell but she doesn’t mind the flavor of the coconut oil with neem bark mixed in or the bee propolis so that’s a plus.
Thank you for the informative video. However, I would like to emphasize that breaking capsules is not advisable, as doing so can render the active ingredients inactive. Capsules are specifically designed to protect the contents from stomach acid, allowing them to reach the intestines intact. Probiotics, in particular, are intended for intestinal health and can be destroyed in the stomach if the capsules are compromised.
I have this kit and used on my dog since she trusts me won't hurt her. I recently started feeding her a frizen raw turkey neck after dinner to keep her teeth clean. She doesn't swallow it so it's safe
Could you create a video about treatments for salivary gland inflammation, blockage? Our 9-yo labradoodle wasn’t eating or drinking, wouldn’t open her mouth. When our vet checked for dental issues and had to pull her jaws apart she yelped. In further checking, he found what he suspects is her salivary gland is possibly infected & swollen.
I tried the bee propolis and it upset their digestive system. They were sick for almost a week. I had to stop the spray. I will try the honey and green tea. Maybe this will be better 🤷🏻♀️. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼

So sorry for your loss ❤
I’m so sorry
Thank you for the dental advice. I lost my little Pomeranian because I'm on social security I managed to get her teeth clean once and I worked on them with peroxide all the time but she still got infection in her heart and kidneys. My little terrier has terrible teeth and it is way beyond belief what they're charging so thank you so much this will probably extend her life.
Thank you and God bless your heart. ❤️🙏
Thank you so much Doc I share your videos everywhere.
Thanks thanks million times you the best
I love that you call Tula poodle! I used to call my Griffy poodle cuz she was so spoiled & fancy 🐾 ❤ 🐾
I do that too with my whole pack. Hi Poodles!!! Or get outa the way poodles!😂 none are poodles of course.
I call my best (human) friend poodle because he's spoiled and fancy lol and once he tried to follow me inside the bathroom like a little puppy😂
Absolutely delighted. I use a teaspoon tumeric whenever I cook dogfood as an anti inflammatory and a spoon of rosemary apple vinegar extract. I will in the future add coconut oil and black pepper and ginger. Thank you for the inspiration. 😊
You are most welcome! You can get a copy of my free book at www.veterinarysecrets.com
@VeterinarySecrets Just downloaded your wonderfully informative book. Thank you, much appreciated.
From now on you're going to be the vet I will be talking to before I go to my vet
Tula went through all of the suggestions 😂 but Dr. ate the carrots 🥕 what happened? I love it. Should I try all of the remedies? Could we have put the honey in the tea? Yes, thank you 😊
😂😂😂
Good luck
@nanny8675309 what is the amount that you use for each ingredient?
Love the binders of bentonite clay and food grade diatomaceous earth with coconut oil. Helps immensely.
Thank you for this ❤️🇦🇺
Hello 👋
Thank you for sharing your experience & wisdom.
God bless you Doc!!!
Tula is a very patient dog! We use seaweed products in the UK that sweeten the breath and also work on plaque. A small scoop sprinkled over his meal every day has made a big difference
Thank you very much
Tula is a great patient! Poodles are awesome.
I mix coconut oil with honey and probiotics. Works a treat, thank you Dr Jones!!
YOU ARE AWESOME!
Hello 👋
I would try the non invasive products you suggested, but that instrument seemed dangerous when not used properly. The mouth / gums are delicate. Thank you Dr. love your videos😊🐾
I thoyght the same, and I'm a nurse who is used to use all kind of tools and needles............ I woudn't dare to use that on my dogs, because they move
One slip, or your pet should jump unexpectedly, and if you didn't know your pet had underlying heart issues.... that bacteria laden blood goes straight to the heart, same as for humans, prophylactic antibiotics should be in use. And you won't know right away your pet is sick or why.
I would avoid the scaler as well, I do the other tips though and they do work
My dog bites. He does not let us fuss over anything. Teeth, ears, toe nails. Yes we stay calm, use rewards. When we brought him home from the last dental cleaning he was sedated for two days. He did not like it and made me feel very nervous. Hope your advice works. I am trying toot sweat. Thanks❤
My female Shishtzu is very snappy too. I've had her in to vet for cleanings. But I'd much rather do more at home myself
My cocker is this way. i can pet him all day, but the second I bring out scissors, clippers, hair clippers, tooth brushes he runs. or he flip flops enough and knows how to position himself until ya can't do anything to him. He has been like this since he was a puppy. He's my 7th cocker and I have NEVER had one act like him.
Toot sweat? 😂

Honey and coconut oil spread on Whimzees or Greenies is another easy way to get it into your dogs dental routine.

I bought the Premium Pet Dental Spray on Amazon that you mentioned and used it maybe 5 times and then scraped both my dog’
teeth. I also gave them the Crumps dental sticks. The scale is coming off on chunks. Thanks Doc!!!
Awesome and Thanks for sharing! Also I encourage you to get a copy of my free book at www.veterinarysecrets.com
I Love you and your videos!!! I love Tula, I miss Murry too!❤

Here in Portugal, our dog is scheduled for dental cleaning under anesthesia here in Portugal. €135!
It is outrageous the hyped up vet prices in the U.S.
What about putting a tsp or TBSP of green tea in the dogs water dish? Thanks for all the recommendations.
I was wondering this also
My pup love frozen carrots with a tad of coconut oil and also frozen cucumbers.
Hello 👋
Thank you so much Dr Andrew Jones! Maybe I can improve my dog's teeth & health with all of these suggestions! You have no idea how mucb your videos and tips help those of us who have dogs or cats but just cant afford expensive care.
Dr. Jones You Are Awesome, and Tula is Adorable 🙏💕
Thank You!!
Thank you Dr Jones😅, bless you and your family 🫶🏻
This was a great video. I know that my last dog needed help. I will start fresh with my new dog. I have most of those things already 🕊️🕊️🕊️
I have a 16 year old who doesn’t take to general anesthesia. These are good tips for me.
Thank you so much, Dr. JONES! I have 3 giant dogs, and they do have banfield premium plan that includes their once a year dental cleaning but is anesthesia only, and one of the dogs can't go under. These tips are live saving for my dog that I love beyond myself. I WILL START the treatments immediately. Thank you so much!!
Thanks .. I save ten years to get my dog teeth clean at the vet when my dog turned 10 now I keep up using spin brush tooth brush for my dogs and I use dental toothpaste and coconut oil
Amazing great information, my dear veterinarian, but for now the teeth are so bad in my dog that I do need to take her into get a treatment, but after that, I will be following your protocol thank you so much for your post. It has helped me a lot.💝💝💝🙏🏻🤗
I took mine in for dental clean- my dog majorly freaked out so bad the vet blew out 2 veins trying get her under. I called it off & took her home. She was sick for about 10 days- vomit & diarhea. Crazy right?
Thx Dr Andrew!! As always helpful info!
yes, very unsettling.
I appreciate your channel Dr. Andrew ❤ my go to channel for pet health.
Tula is such a sweetie. Thanks
I agree :-)
I keep seeing ads for Petlab co dental powder and it just seems too good to be true. Is this powder actually safe and effective? Wondering your thoughts, thanks.
@@outdoorsmom2000 I used it once and my dog did not respond to it well. It gave her upset stomach and she seemed off (almost shaky/jittery)that day. That was with both the powder and the water additive version so never used it again. I have since used the neem bark powder mixed with coconut oil, and bee propolis spray, recommended on this channel, with no ill effects.
@@wenonadailey1421 Thanks for sharing your experience! Did you find either result effective in removing tartar build up?
@@outdoorsmom2000 it’s too soon to tell but she doesn’t mind the flavor of the coconut oil with neem bark mixed in or the bee propolis so that’s a plus.
Thule is such a good dog. ❤
Also adding a tsp of baking soda in a container with a 1/4 c coconut oil? Then use that to brush or rub on gums/teeth?
Hello 👋
Thank you so much. You are saving so many pets and pet parents.
Thank-You so much for this information, this is going to help so many cats and dogs and the people who love them but can't afford dental care❤
Your pup is so very adorable. Thanks Doc for the tips.
Thanks so much! I encourage you to get a copy of my free book at www.veterinarysecrets.com
Thanks Dr. Jones! You rock!! 😍🐶 Tula is loving the attention lol.
I started giving my 2 dogs raw, meaty bones. That has done wonders for their teeth. Thank you for the tips.
That’s what I wa waiting for. We bought half a cow. My dogs teeth sparkle.
Raw bones is way to go
Thank you for this information.❤
Thank you for your help with our pets!
Thanks for this info. Just wondering about giving honey to a diabetic cat?
Thank you Doctor for such great remedies. 🤗 Thank you for existing.
Oh Goo Bless Tula! She is a great Patience Patient😂❤
Hello 👋
Salivary stones … ouch
Big thank you, Dr Jones ❤
Thank you for your videos, we surely appreciate it. I been sharing your videos. 🥰
I tried the bee propolis and it upset their digestive system. They were sick for almost a week. I had to stop the spray. I will try the honey and green tea. Maybe this will be better 🤷🏻♀️. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
