- Skyrim is a game that boasts a whole assortment of bad guys for the Dragonborn to face off against. However, not all villains in The Elder Scrolls 5 are quite the same and many of Skyrim's antagonists are paticularly unique characters. Indeed, some of the bosses featured in TES 5 are incredibly fascinating, with special backstories and characteristics that make them an absolute blast to learn more about. So today we'll be taking a look at some of the best baddies Skyrim has to offer as we dive into my top five boss battles in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
Isn’t it obvious who the Ebony Warrior is? He’s the dude who visits every dungeon before you and makes sure all the torches are lit

The funny thing is that if you get to level 80 without killing alduin then he’ll still say what he normally says but he hasn’t killed alduin yet

The real boss battle: the first frost troll on the way to high hrotghar.
easy, but tedious way to beat him: constant shield-bash and slash, rinse and repeat. Shield bash to disorient and deal some damage, and just keep doing it till it dies. You may have to run away sometimes though.

run to high hrothgar while the troll chases you and head inside for the greybeards to gang up on the troll
Easiest way. Avoid him completely or use a calming spell and just stroll on past
U run into a troll if you come the back way to the road to high hrotghar its in a cave by a creek that runs by the town at the bottom of the mountain also there are some other hard baddies u can run into if you wander around off main quest line..

I remember when dawnguard came out. I was 12 and my older brother and I stayed up all night playing Skyrim waiting for the dlc to become available in his room so we could buy it. It didn’t end up becoming available till about 8:30 in the morning. My brother fell asleep in his chair and I sat in his room playing it for a few hours and then went in my room and passed out. That was a good day

The Ebony Warrior is a reflection of the Dragonborn since by level 80 you’ll likely be wanting to restart the game (death) after having completed virtually everything there is to complete.
Olive Eater I’m level 76 in my playthrough right now and only just killed Alduin lol
@@kyalbeddows8453 level 62 here. I'm working towards my current Dragonborn's retirement but I feel like beating the Ebony Warrior just has to be one of those things I'd have to do before moving on to my next character. I'm currently just grinding my smithing so I can upgrade my armor XD

Kyal Beddows level 81 here and still haven’t captured the dragon at Dragonsreach 😂 the update where they made skills legendary has completely detracted from my play through because I’m so obsessed with re-leveling pickpocket, smithing, enchanting, speech and alchemy just for the extra possible perk from leveling up 😅 can’t even explain how much time I’ve put doing this but god is it addicting

The hardest boss is trying to not eventually just become a stealth bow build
I have the same problem with playing as a tank with dual swords. Start as a rogue using stealth & daggers, end as a dual wielding tank. Start as a warrior with heavy weapons, end as a dual wielding tank. Start as a destruction mage, end as a dual wielding tank.
Lol i always end up in heavy armor with a mace and shield.

The "letters from a friend" are from him trying to power you up so he has a worthy fight.
Some theories say he is possibly you from the future

@@KolbaltSayian he uses set kit, possibly to give himself a challenge. He does, after all WANT to lose the fight.
And he may be from a different time line and didn't invest in smiting but solely in combat skills (also explains why he is redguard no matter what)

:D Fortify Carry potions FTW.
Aethereal Crown Steed Stone combo FTW! Also, combined with extra pockets from the pickpocket skill tree allows you to carry an additional two hundred pounds of items. And since you don’t have a level cap, you can just continue to gain more and more levels. I’m currently level 49, and it’d take a total of two hundred and fifty two skill points to acquire every single perk in every single skill tree, mind you that character I’ve spent nearly five hundred hours on.
Umm... Lydia is a thing you know. She IS sworn to carry your burdens.
Braddah Spliff She’s carried well over three thousand pounds of items for me. All of them are now labelled as Stolen. So you better level that speech craft all the way up.

I think the moment the Forgemaster emerges from the lava is one of the most memorable moments in Dawnguard for those who did that quest.

I found it as a level 11 high elf vampire. Oh man that was brutal. None of the vampire lord powers really worked on it, and if it even grazed me with the fire breath I'd instantly die.
WR Yeah, that’s a tough situation since those types of builds really only work on living enemies.
A shame that I did the quest at level 50

Me: I have faced Alduin and sent him back to Akatosh, I have slain countless vampires and their Lord Harkon, I have defeated Miraak and did not flinch, and I have faced against an incredibly large amount of villains, daedra, dragons, and more. There is only one enemy that I have left to face. OLD SALTY, PREPARE FOR THE BATTLE TO END ALL BATTLES!!!!

That actually makes a lot of sense. He can use quite a few shouts, which raises the question: how does he LEARN these shouts? He didn’t go to High Hrothgar, because let’s be honest, we all would’ve learned about this from an npc in the game. So, that’s already crossed off the list. The one other way to learn shouts (that he would have any chance of knowing) would be the walls of power. And as we all know, you can get letters from “a friend” that basically directs you to these walls of power, to gain access to more shouts.
There’s a boss in Skyrim that can use an assortment of shouts (that you can kill near the end of your play through), and a mysterious character that sends us letters that directs us to walls of power, that give us access to shouts? And both of these characters are, “coincidentally”, mysterious?
I thought the letters from a "friend" was Delphine?

1. Vs hauling your Dragon Scales/Bones to wherever you store them after becoming overencumbered.
2. Vs Todd's Bugs.
3. Vs remembering that you need to go to High Hrothgar instead of wandering anywhere and everywhere.
4. Vs the urge to end Heimskr's wailing.
5. Vs Nazeem's snobbery.
Heimskr’s name actually translates to idiot or moron in Icelandic I believe

I was just thinking the same thing! Let's see, bat-s&%# lunatic horkers AND a bat-s%#@ lunatic mage that does weird crap to Frostbite Spiders, that has our favorite Daedric Prince all over it! One day, Sheogorath gets bored and decides to go to Solsthiem, under a disguise. First, makes some homisidal insane horkers, just for fun. After that, he then screws with that Altmer mage, just to see what could happen. That would also explain the random encounters of people that want to be Wabbajack'd, who worships the Daedric Prince of Madness. It would make perfect sense!
And then puts shoes on a mud crab and gives it beer!

I honest to God never realized Lost To The Ages was Dawnguard exclusive! I guess owning all the DLCs from the start changes that.
Same! I started playing Skyrim back when Special Edition was released, and the quest feels very vanilla-ey to me (ie. not as unique as the "Forgotten Vale" part of Dawnguard). The quest reward, while having great enchantments, doesn't look nearly as good as the rest of the DLC--I mean, the crown is literally two circlets stacked together.

Yep, in the old days, you weren't allowed to play the dlc's until you finished the main quest, which by then, most had.
Something similar happened to me with dragonborn, I never knew that Solstheim, and the sectarians who came to kill you were from dragonborn XD

My theory about the ebony warrior is that he's kinda like your characters. One day, either by his own choice or by circumstances outside of his control, he went into adventure, getting progressively stronger, but also progressively bored. Just like us, after reestarting the game for like the billionth time. He's just there to show that we are not the only murder hobos in this world. There's other people like us. Well,he's not the dragonborn,but still.

The ebony warrior is kind of like the player character if bethesda didn't make you dragonborn/the ultimate "hero" of the crisis like in oblivion.

My first thought on Old Salty was that he could’ve just been some poor dude that was cursed by a wizard and turned into a mudcrab lol
I've always loved the setup and fight for Karstaag. He's completely optional, has you start the fight by walking through an almost eerily pristine skylit arena, and is absolutely a beast to take on
Yeah these are mostly interesting fight, but definitely not the best boss battles
Skyrim didn’t really DO bosses, just big enemies. Miraak and Marlboro were legit fights, but Alduin was just spamming Clear Sky and letting the NPCs do the heavy lifting while you go to the bathroom.
The Forgemaster being bigger than a normal centurion actually makes sense, since when you heat metal it expands and get bigger, and once it cools off it shrinks again.

Personally I think that Lord Tusk was a worshipper of Hircine with a particular fascination for horkers. Eventually Hircine decided to turn him into a mighty horker warrior as a gift for his servitude.
4:20 After level 5 you'll probably run into the Old Orc looking for a "noble death" because he didn't want to die old and a burden to his clan, so this is a theme you'll see elsewhere in the game. I think the Redguard Ebony Warrior was basically inspired by their own heritage as well as Nord and Orc mythology, and by integrating all of the philosophies together ended up becoming the greatest warrior. The game tries to push you to be neutral but full-spectrum so you don't just wedge yourself into one character class, which gives the game all the replay value it's renowned for.

I'd say speach
Alchemy goes by so much slower if you’re not trying to use glitches or exploits. Smithing with ancient knowledge, warrior stone, and well rested is fairly quick to lvl
Build all three Hearthfire houses and boom smithing 100
Iron arrows and gold rings can work wonders
Restoration is the worst to level up
The most epic boss.. The chicken... I wanted to make a grilled chicken brest. Attacked by entire village.
Lost to the ages is easily one of my favorite quests, mainly because the rewards are very unique, it has a couple interesting puzzles, and Katria is the only NPC i truly wanted to help, because she is helpful, not a jerk, and has a pretty obvious and relatable goal
She actually helps you fight those things, and is good at fighting and doesn’t over take you

I have over 20 different playthroughs in Skyrim. I've completed the main quest twice.
15ish playthroughs only once finished the main quest line... and only because I put everything on hold and went straight to finishing it... I have no clue how high level I was, but it was one of my oldest playthroughs xD xD after finishing it that time i never did so again... and I have tried a good few times xD
I've had many playthroughs in Skyrim, oblivion and morrowind and I've never finished any of those games

The forge master made me legit shit myself when he started spraying fire walking out of the lava.

My favorite boss has to be Ulfric honestly. Marching into Windhelm with the Legion at your back, pushing through a city that is actually designed to take on a siege, finally killing the Stormcloaks and approaching the throne with a classic "It's over, lay down your arms" speech, a duel with another master of the Thu'um...just awesome.

Not going to lie the first time I got tossed across the room by his unrelenting Force shout it freaked me out a bit, I said to myself "oh shoot so that's what that's like".
I’ve actually managed to fight all of the bosses on this list, but I believe there is a boss fight that was certainly missed, and that would be the twin dragons of the Forgotten Vale. Their ability to dive under the ice is uniquely terrifying as well as being one of, if not the only time you have to fight two dragons at the same time. Very, very cool fight, though I do appreciate seeing the Forgemaster make an appearance.
Looked it up and yeah. Thats pretty cool. Looks like i have to give the Dawnguard DLC another shot soon
The fight terrified me at first but it was pretty easy tbh. Most painful part of the fight is that Miraak stole one of the souls

Bosses also tend to have their own theme in most games, while in Skyrim the Dragonborn theme is playing during combat. Which kind of sounds like YOU are the boss.
I would've preferred unique music for the more important ones tbh, it makes a lot of boss battles more atmospheric and memorable. It's not that every boss would need an own theme, but I feel like Harkon or the Forgemaster definitely deserve one. Not to mention Alduin, to make him at least a bit less forgettable.

ItzKlamzXtreme He’s level 150 which makes him the strongest hostile character in the game. Strangely enough, Arngeir of the Greybeards is the highest leveled character in the game at about level 210.
@@TheEmpireDabsBack I dont think he has the highest health (I think he has 4000 and a few dragons and other bosses may have more), but his health regeneration is so crazy that he basically has the highest health. His moveset is dope as hell though.
There’s a boss in Dragonborn DLC with an ice throne. If you defeat him, you can summon him 3 times total. Pretty unique and he’s very strong.
I've alway thought of Salty as a pirate that got entangled with a sea witch who cursed him by changing him into a mudcrab. Shoes require feet, pirates love treasure which is why he has gold and sometimes a leveled gemstone, and what good is a pirate without a tankard of mead? 🤔
Anyone who kills old Salty is a villain of their own. He was so nice in Morrowind

Old Salty will most likely get killed by The Thalmor if you do the quest that reveals the area where a bunch stalthrim is at, but only if you goto the place in order for him to spawn in and then come back to that place when The Thalmor spawn there, thus The Thalmor become the villain for killing a mudcrab that was once nice.

What’s particularly interesting about Kornalus, especially at higher levels, is that he’s one of the few high-level mages that can be resurrected with the Dead Thrall spell. His expert level destruction and conjuration spells make him a VERY useful ally, and since Dead Thralls are permanent and don’t disintegrate after death, he can follow and assist the player indefinitely. Plus, if he (or any other thrall) is brought to the basement of a player’s Hearthfire home and killed, he won’t normally despawn and so can be retrieved whenever the player desires. This frees the player up to wander around alone and still have their undead buddy at their disposal if they choose.

I first came across Lord Tusk in my current play through. I was taking a break from the vanilla main questline and playing the Dawnguard DLC main questline. I was at the “A New Order” quest and Gunmar was randomly placed on Horker Island. I was level 15. I believe I was taking Freya and Vigilance the dog with me when I arrived and found the journal and the horkers. It was pure chaos. Gunmar’s spawning had of course triggered a bear attack on top of the horkers and I ended up trying to snipe everything not human from a rock while gunmar, Vigilance, and freya went berserk against everything. I lost track of Vigilance and ended up falling off a short cliff. A horker came around the corner at me and being a mage-thief with shit health I was quickly running off to find a snipe point. When the smoke cleared, Vigilance was dead next to Lord Tusk (Press F to pay respects), Gunmar was doing that NPC “I’m bearly alive” limp thing and Freya was having a hilarious duel with a random mudcrab (“Whaaat?! All Maker Protect us!”)
All in all, one of the most hilarious fights ever lmao 😂
I just finished the Lost to the Ages quest yesterday. It was one of the most enjoyable quests I've had in Skyrim. Lots of epic combats. The forge master was not much of a threat, probably because i had sthalrim weapons enchanted with frost, I didn't even knew that he was weak to frost althrough it does make sense.
I actually love the Lost to the Ages questline, and Katria is one of my favorite NPCs in the game
Not to mention Zephyr is one of the BEST bows in the game, especially for bow masters. Lost to the Ages is my all time favorite quest!

Katria has some of the best NPC interactions since she will actually react to what you take from her corpse.

The diving dragons battle in dawnguard. Such an awesome battle with the dragons diving through the ice and surprise jump up. It's probably the first time battling two dragons at the same time for a lot of people.

Ebony warrior is by far the hardest fight in the entire game.the snow elf boss from dawn guard was like a 10 second fight. Ebony warrior takes 20 trys and all legendary gear.
What I love about skyrim is the absolute choice you have in dealing with harder enemies. Its in a way that seems natural, considering how many tiny choices you make can have a huge difference later down the road.
Lost to the Ages is one of my favorites to do and I can't understand how someone could not ever complete it. But then again I do also actually like going into Dwemer ruins and poking around. Such a great mystery surrounding the Dwemer.
That's probably part of the problem. I personally dislike the dwemer ruins, so I avoid them if I can.

I had a run in with the Ebony Warrior at level 40 and couldn't defeat him, so I ran and avoided that area at all cost. No sight of him since. lol

Old Salty killed me once. Of course I had a damage modifier on, and I just wasn't expecting a mudcrab "boss." I got my revenge
He simply allowed you to kill him, out of pity for your weakness.
He called the mubcrab a mirelurk
I absolutely love the 'Lost to the Ages' storyline. It's awesome gets you an awesome bow, and just a really cool nod to the lore

Kornalus was actually one of my first bosses, when i was at least level 10 and still trying to find my favorite approach to combat, I stumbled upon him looking for loot and gear for me to try out

Two tiny details you have not covered:
1. The drauger will say sovenguard when fighting the dragonborn (easier to find with subtitles one)
2. In the Soul Carin, if you murder the Keepers to death before meeting Valerica, her dialogue will mention about how you have already killed them. Subtle but cool none the less.

I also love the fact I found Cornalus Frey by complete accident as I was running from dungeon to dungeon clearing out everything in sight.
For the Ebony Warrior, the giant mud crab and giant Horker-
Increasing size increases damage. If you set your player size up, you can kill a dragon with one or two hits at lower levels. It works the same way in reverse. If you set yourself down to .5 percent size, you do less damage (and walk a lot slower, stamina drains faster, etc)
I actually constantly run into Frey...like, I can't avoid him, I usually accidentally walk into that dungeon so many times it's ridiculous
I've probably put like 3000 hours into Skyrim since I started playing it in 2012, and there were like 4 things I have never seen before in this video

@@erikho6936 well I started playing on xbox360. Logged in 0ver 5000 hours there. Went to ps3 played i dont kniw how much. Then went to Pc played an absolute shit town of hours. I played as many as 15 hours a day on my off days and usually 5 hours on days i worked i d say I done that for 3-5 years.
Now have played on xbox one. Not alot but some. Ive created 100s of characters ive completed every mission at least 3 times. Ive done all the DLC a100 times. So I. Serious when I say ive probably played 15,000 hours.

Ahzadal`s ring of arcanea give you the freeze spell and ignite spell
Officaly the spell only does 4 damage for 15 seconds but the damage stacks ecspeicaly if you have the augmented flames perk and the aspect of terror perk
turning any boss you face into molten slag in seconds

I think the ebony warrior might be the Nerevarine, because we he's immortal and we don't know for sure. Him saying there are no more challenges left for him also makes sense.

@Hydra Okay for the millionth time. It is mostly for console players that are limited with mods. For pc players the creation club is useless but for console players it is useful. It should still be free but there are plenty of things that should be free but aren't, like tampons.

Have you considered filling the pacify perks of the illusion tree, getting the master spell Harmony or expert spell pacify, and duel wielding it to calm Kornalus down?

Right off the bat I started thinking of Ebony Warrior, Alduin, Karstagg, The High Hrothgar Frost Troll, Paarthurnax, Duhrniviir, Miraak, Lord Harkon, Lord Tusk, Old Salty, Ahzidal, Warlord Gathrik, Karnalus Frey, and The Forgemaster. These are really the only “bosses” I can think of. If anyone can list off any others, please tell me.
Because there are so many, I don’t usually count Dragon Priests. I included Ahzidal because the quest that leads up to him is SO large, that it makes sense. I don’t include Nahkriin because if your archery and sneak are high enough, he can be killed with a single arrow, because(fun fact)he is the ONLY dragon priest in the game that is already awake and walking when you meet him. Every other dragon priest is summoned or busts out of a coffin. Also, Nahkriin is easily the weakest of all the priests. Feel free to debate, though.
Oh, man. The Forge Master is a great fight. That specific quest line is so much fun!

Ebony Warrior was only difficult because he had no honor. He put me in a perpetual recovery animation using Unrelenting Force. I rarely used shouts myself as I felt they were weak. Once I got SE and mods I got unlimited shouts immediately, proceeded to play, then shouted him repeatedly whilst hitting him with arrows. Exactly how he killed me many times over.
I think the single greatest piece of artwork in Skyrim is the full ebony set. Gosh....the engravings are beautiful!
