Thank you for dedicating your time and efforts to breaking down the plot of "Oblivion" and its DLC content. Though I've never played TES: "Oblivion", I am interested in learning about "Skyrim's" predecessors.
Despite all the times I have journeyed through The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, I still never get tired of doing again at least once a year. It be my favorite game of all time. Tis also a nice thing to see others still enjoying the journey nowadays.
I rarely ever comment on videos but I just need to say I appreciate what you do!! It can be hard for people to get into the other elder scrolls games, now I can talk with my friends about it and be caught up
I am so glad you are gaining more traction. I’ve probably rewatched this video like 6 times, just listening while I’m working or going to sleep to it and just watching it normally once or twice. Love all your content man, I hope you make it big brother❤️❤️❤️
Hey! I appreciate the kind words! I do plan on doing it! It’s been awhile that’s for sure 😂 I’ve just been a bit busy these past few weeks but I can likely get one out this week!
The threat is the complete destruction of the Isles. Everyone and everything dead. Having to rebuild from scratch. Looks like Sheogorath is happy with the realm he created and doesn't want to make a new one. It wouldn't be the same so he wants to keep what he has for once.
This is fantastic content, both in composition and editing. Love seeing an upload from you. However, have you considered adding a touch of "roleplay" to your videos? You're one of the best Elder Scrolls channels out there, but if you included and discussed some lore on the areas, characters, and stories (which many of us play TES games for), it would be amazing. And by leaning towards the franchise as a storyteller, more so than just a gamer, you might also rope in the nerdier ones among us. Food for thought!
I appreciate the continued support! :) so I have considered and I used to do a little bit in earlier videos, could definitely be something to consider for future ones too!
I was planning on saving this DLC for last before completing the main quest but I started Sanguine and that locked the Countess in her breakfast room loop so I couldn't get the ring for the Darkbrotherhood. So much for radiant AI. Looks like Shivering Isles it is.
@@ABardsBallad yeah. I watched a conversation between the archmage happen that basically warned him that members of the guild weren't pleased with him banning necromancy his response was essentially, "Yup, that guy's an idiot." It's no wonder this game still gets memed nearly 20 years later.

Yeah, there are people out there who like to experience the whole thing. There are people who complain about s game having no story while skipping through the entirety of dialogue
Haskill for me was the only part of the Shivering Isles that really "Worked" for me. The dry, sardonic wit is what Sheogorath used to be before Wes Johnson and Oblivion. And I find it a lot more charming than "HA HA! CHEESE!" and similar such almost laughing at his own farts moments. Otherwise a lot of comedy that fell on its face and a lot of bad pop pscyhobabble about mental health alongside. I appreciated some of the visual work. Though there's also the second bit to the whole DLC that kind of annoys me more than it probably should. And that's after Daggerfall Bethesda kind of freaked out a bit believing if there was a "Canon Character" for a game that people would be up in arms boycotting them and torching their offices. This results in the "Warp in the West" to try to say that Daggerfall (having had multiple endings) really didn't and every ending happened and didn't happen at the same time, then trying to write out the Imperial Agent and whatever they might have been. With Morrowind they realized after the fact for Oblivion it seems "oh crap, people might ask what the canon Nerevarine was like!" and thus came up with lore about how he just gets lost at sea and never heard from again and by the way Morrowind is getting apocalypsed anyway so anything they might have done is effectively null and void. But in Oblivion? Here? It seemed they really doubled down on the idea that there can't be a canon main character that they have to actually speak about... by having him completely subsumed into Sheogorath and thus written out of the lore. The "Champion of Cyrodiil" who might have been a big player in events of the Interregnum written out. And similarly in Skyrim they set up the Dragonborn to get sucked up by the tentacles of Hermaeus Mora and also written out of the game's setting. And it's quite a shame when you consider other IPs who don't act like people are going to get pitchforks and torches over a "canon" existing. Like Fallout. We know a lot about the non-Bethesda Fallout Characters relatively speaking and the choices they made, and events that happened to them. And when those are brought up, not like anyone goes "OMG! Canon exists! Burn down Black Isle Studios!!!". Instead the canon references tend to either be nice little memories for long time players, or get new players into older games (I've seen it happen with friends and New Vegas for instance, all the references in it to Fallout 2 made them pick up Fallout 1 and 2). So it's annoying to me because they delete possibilities to work with, and create interest in, and even get sales on old products... by trying to nuke the results of those old games with a hamfisted style and make sure there is no legacy to a character. The Eternal Champion was supposed to be Uriel's right hand man and second in command... never seen again. The Imperial Agent was supposed to have made one of the most consequential actions in all the Elder Scrolls games... not even a footnote now. The Champion of Cyrodiil gets turned into Sheogorath and then Cyrodiil goes through its own apocalypses like 3 times over before Skyrim to make sure nothing has to be answered about them. At this rate I'm expecting that the next game will say the Dragonborn just disappeared on Solstheim one day. And then Skyrim the province itself got hit with like 5 different apocalyptic events just so they don't have to answer questions like "Which side won the CIvil War/Had the Dragonborn support?" or "Did Parthunaax get killed by the Blades?" and "Did the Dragonborn revive the Blades as an organization?" and such. Terrible precedent that I feel sometimes like I'm in Bizarro World about, because most people praise Bethesda for doing it. Instead of recognizing all the squandered opportunities for storytelling, sales, fanservice for long time players, etc.
"Passion makes no accommodations for self-preservation" - my favorite quote in this DLC.
Going through the whole thing again, the people there aren't just a silly play on mental variation, but also quite a lot of life lessons.

Damn, they had Wes Johnson working overtime on this game. How did he not win an award for his performances?
