Make sure you service your cvt transmission every 30,000-50,000 miles. That means trans filter and fluid change. You want to be closer to 30 thousand. Also I would choose the Nissan over the Mazda. At least with Nissan you got a decent engine with a not so great transmission. Newer Mazda's engines & transmission are not the best.
there is a sport mode behind the shifter, its on the back of the knob kinda small and nothing to indicate it, but it locks it fully into manual mode up to 8 gears so its almost not a cvt and more like a tiptronic auto, though it can be a bit finniky under certain driving. Makes it more sporty defenetly.

I’ve been on some sketchy roads in snow and it just plugs along and adjusts as needed. Plus you can turn the traction control off and on. That feature in the computer system which I don’t like. I like the handy physical button. Oh well.
just swap cvt fluid and filter every 30k I had a 2015 and the transmission was great past 165k, I totalled the car but I have no doubt it could make it to 200k

I like it but am hesitant because of the reputation of the CVT. I was thinking I just lucked out on the 2015. Don't want to get a bad one. This is the best looking of what's out there for sedans unless you want to pay for a lexus.

Come to Southern California..... HERE, they are all over the place and in ALL generations driving down the road. From what I'm understanding is that Nissan makes the worse CVT transmisions as far as reliability and performance, we rented a 2019 Altima to drive from Arizona to Florida and the seats were amazing. I ended up buying a 2019 Sport 1.5 Accord with a CVT and I think having a turbo and CVT is somewhat fun.
You left out the fact there is NO brake hold!!!! Could it be Nissan makes it necessary to move up the SL in order to brake hold? It sure looks that way.
I'm thoroughly NOT feeling the screen sitting up there on top of the dashboard in any vehicle, I prefer it to be in the dashboard were it belongs and those analog buttons should be pushed down to allow the screen to be were it belongs.
Your not talking about the finish on that front grill. It damages extremely easily and there's no way to correct it. It also cracks very easily. Look closely at the grill on that vehicle and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I'm still not convinced the black line on the C-pillar is a good look. Maxima, Kicks, and Lexus RX also have this, and it looks to me like the last ring of hair on a balding man's head.

Nissan used to have a auto dimming rear view mirror with built-in garage door opener on almost all their new altimas . I guess not too many trailers have a garage so Nissan figures you don't need a garage door opener.

Although practically laid out with physical buttons the interior looks very cheap. They need to cancel the Altima. It’s honestly not on anyone’s radar for a family sedan.

Altima / Sentra are the best looking IMO but what keeps me away is the CVT ... I've always been a Nissan fan.
Nissan isn't known for building reliable CVT transmissions. I would not trust the NISSAN CVT to be reliable after 100k miles.

I bought a used 2010 altima and its been good for 3 years no issues, maybe the problem is with the users not the care actually
I think the rear lights are not up to date anymore.. really no LEDs, no design, no light signature
