Hi Sam. I think this was the first time a four way drag & roll race was done. Like what you mentioned in the video, a four way race would be dangerous for high performance vehicles. As for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L being slow there are two reasons for that. The V6 engine has good horsepower numbers coming in at 293. However, the downfall was the pound feet of torque which is just 260. The other three vehicles had torque numbers more than 260. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L comes in at a length of 205 inches long. At 205 inches long, that automatically means it's a heavier vehicle. What Jeep should've done when they came out with this fifth generation in 2021 as the 2021 model year, they should've increased the torque numbers to 270 for this third row seating vehicle to compensate for the weight. I also have the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. However, mine is different. Mine is the 2023 model year in the Summit Reserve trim with the HEMI V8 engine with 357 horsepower along with 390 pound feet of torque. A good performer. Maybe during a mid-cycle refresh for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L, maybe they will increase the torque numbers for the V6 engine. If they do, I hope it'll be 270 or 275. One thing they will do is introduce one or two new engines for the mid-cycle refresh of this fifth generation.
People make fun of the Jeep but considering that the 3.6L is now 14 years old and still does not use direct injection, and it is powering the heaviest of these 3, it does very well. It is one of the last simple and decent V6 engines left.
The Nissan Pathfinder makes 285 HP in the Platinum trim (sourced directly from Nissan's website). You quoted 295 HP. The only Pathfinder to get 295 HP is the Rock Creek edition (or all Infiniti QX60s). You may want to edit that.
We had a Cherokee L for a rental and I can confirm it is SLOW! Recently had Chrysler Voyager and Pacifica rentals and they oddly felt much faster despite having the same Pentastar V6. Guess its the weight. You can call the VQ old, but it still does what it needs to! And WHOA, that fuel economy was surprising. The VQ has never been known for fuel efficiency. BTW the regular Pathfinder is rated at 284hp.
@@stellaa1328 Ehh. It was in unremarkable in my eyes. Also rode very floaty. Quality wise, on the base and mid-trim levels it’s no better than the mainstream competition, but on the upper trims it gets much nicer… but it better for the price.
@@bigd7386 I mean keeping it competitive, from what I've experienced the quality base, mid, and high compared to the competitors base, mid, and high are either on par or just flat out better. The Nissan Pathfinder makes 285 HP in the Platinum trim (sourced directly from Nissan's website). You quoted 295 HP. The only Pathfinder to get 295 HP is the Rock Creek edition (or all Infiniti QX60s). You may want to edit that.
Not really they have not changed the motor, even my older one has a noticeable difference on premium.
I think the engin adapts to higher octane,it may just have good air to fuel ratio and a hotter spark.
Nissan has been doing the small to midsized well for a long time.
The best thing is the 9 speed tranny
Pathfinder reached deep to find some Gojira and pull it out 😂
Should have done the new cx90 with the inline 6 turbo!!!!
Turbo 4 makes a lot more sense here vs N/A 6s. No one need a video to guess that the inline 6 turbo will thrash everyone else here lol
@@Kaykaytrupka nah they should do it with the phev version cuz it’s quicker and still is na
Nissan
That Mazda does very well!
Rock creek pathfinder with the tune and sport mode would reck even more
We had a Cherokee L for a rental and I can confirm it is SLOW!
The L pairs better with the V8 which smokes all its competition try the non L with the V6 that thing is quick
To be fair tho, it's still the better option. Better quality, better tech, pretty reliable. Also optioned with a V8 it's insanely good.
Like comparing an Explorer to the Grand Cherokee low, mid level, higher spec, the Jeep will remain better imho.
I race the Pacifica I confirm is faster . I race it with my Cx9 with the 3.7 engine . The Mazda is faster
Vq35hr ain't no joke. Superior in performance even over the J35 honda engine.
Tell me how is it? And it has more HP and is the lightest?
@@leonbaptiste2272 it's been proven on the streets over and over again....
@@mk5rob42 yup yup yup
Enjoyed the race, but you guys didn’t have enough room to truly rock & roll.
Why is it every vehicle chosen is a 6 cylinder except the Mazda? Mazda does make a inline 6. Whats fair is fair.
Even though the mazda having a 4 cylinder engine with turbo , it has less peak HP which is really matters in high speeds also less gears to play with yet it still holding up with the other 6 cylinder suv’s
That is madness !! 🤯🔥
Remember it is also the lightest which helps for its lack of power.
Pathfinder vets the win in both acceleration and mileage?! I think I'm more impressed with the mileage.
Nice Race . Nissan wow😮😮
plz put the mic and camera for all drivers so the reaction will be so amazing
Pilot looks asleep on the tree 2x lol the 3rd drag race was the best one.
Were u running premium fuel in the cx9? Makes a noticeable difference in performance.
Love this real world content!!
Where's the Explorer?
Is it too late for the last gen pilot to be in one of these races
Heck yeah, love these types of races.
Having test driven the Pathfinder and owning that gen Pilot, I expected the PF to take it. The acceleration off the line is great.
I am also confident both the Pathfinder & Pilot (not the Trailsport seen here) can give 29-30 mpgs if you cruise at the posted speed limit.
Not trying to step on anybody toes , just don’t understand how the Honda can win by 2 car lengths or suv lengths and not win again 🤔
Nissan makes a great V6 engine!!
What an amazing video, Sam! I had a lot of fun and was pleasantly surprised how the CX9 performed as you may have seen on the races. Despite the disadvantages of the 4IL of the Mazda, it still gives you a lot of bang for your buck (that’s the 2023 model).
Let’s see if the CX90 does a similar job. Looking forward to it!
I have a '24 Pilot Elite, like it overall but it could do with about 30 more HP/30 more lbs ft of torque. You can definitely feel its weight driving around. Once it gets up and going it's not too bad but not as quick or light on its feet as the previous gen.
I heard the last Gen pilot was faster lol
@@CARBONHAWK1because it had a VTEC, Honda's R&D failed this time. They give it only a 5 HP bump while increasing its weight much more. Maybe it's time for Honda to use a turbo charged 3.0L V6
@@uaeelectronicsno plz no turbos. There’s enough of those already. Keep the NA 3.5 of Nissans and Hondas. I have 2018 odyssey and before a 08 odyssey and they go. Love hearing the V6. Just wish the new 9 speed AT was little smoother
Can’t believe you paid 70 grand for a Honda Pilot Elite when you could’ve gotten a better product for less money i.e. Nissan Pathfinder, Mazda CX-90. Pilot feels like a VAN. Trade that garbage in.
@@aazanahmed8325 Your Nissan Pathfinder and Mazda CX9 are smaller and unreliable than the pilot. The Pilot is the most rugged amongst them dear.
Should've had an explorer in this race too
Lots of competition in this class, either engine would mostly likely won.
11:20 is a priceless moment reaction,looks at him😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂
A T E and left no crumbs…
I really did not believe that the Honda cx9 would ever win 😂
I recently traded in my top trim mazda CX9 Signature for the top of the line Mazda CX90 Turbo-S Premium
The CX9 not only felt faster, but had much better steering feel...the steering wheel would glide smoothly and effortlessly...it felt so light
The steering on the CX90 feels tight and heavy
Sound system was also better on the CX9 but maybe its because it had the same exact Bose Centerpoint system as the CX90 in a smaller car
The design of the LED headlights are what miss the most...the CX90 doesnt even come close in headlight design
I love my CX90, the interior is so much nicer and the car is much more luxurious and imposing...but the CX9 was no slouch at all
The old girl still putting up a good fight! Love to see it :D Great video!
Very good Nissan 3.5 V6 9 AT... Fast and eco💪🙌
Hi when will traverse be preview in these (3.6)😢?
Thanks for the amazing videos, would love to see more videos of economy cars drag racing.
More to come!
Considering the weight of each suv I definitely will go for Nissan and Grand Cherokee. Even when GCL finished last, it has better material and clearance, but that's just for me. Thanks for excellent video.
Had a feeling the VQ would come out the winner. A fine-tuned VQ35 is used in their 350Z lineup, therefore the engine does have a racing heritage behind it. But was surprised to know that it did very well in the mileage department.
that mazda with 4cilnder im shoked😮😮
Отличнейший мотор
Yeah a lot of torque from a small turbo, but running out of breath at higher revs-and of course let down by less gears to stay in that torque band, otherwise may have been on top.
Were these running regular or premium fuel?
Nissan understood the assignment!
Finally a honda pilot race we need more
Good Ol VQ 💪
Realizing that the R51 Pathfinder (2005-2012) smokes them all (including the new "Pathfinder")...priceless.
Darn it! I came here for the Jeep GC L - but I'm sad now because I hoped it was the 5.7 V8 Hemi. I just bought a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L with the 5.7 and I think it's faster than my 2021 Durango RT, Tow N Go with the "same" 5.7 Hemi. Great video though!!! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
cx9 but your label at 12:50 is saying cx90 FYI
I have '24 CX-5 Turbo. Wonderful car about town. That fat torque curve makes driving feel effortless. Live in the SW and turbos are excellent in the mountains. Perfect car for soon-to-be empty nesters.
They should pair the 9AT Pathfinder vs the previous Pilot with the ZF9. Would be quite a good one.
I think the elite or touring model of the pilot would have better performance
bc the different tires
interesting choice using a cx9 and not the cx90 that replaced it
Awesome race no matter the cubics.
