This is the most informative video on what's what for the Tenera 700 I have ever watched by far I'm subscribing to your channel I have just purchased the 2024 T7
"I'd rather slam my gentleman parts in car door than run the Camel Enduro bend exhaust". LMAO! Greg, you crack me up. I'm with you, I love the rally sweep, the enduro just isn't my style. However, the two versions sell about 1:1 so it seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it situation. Great video as always. Looking forward to seeing you in May.
Thank you for going to the effort to put out information, as you see it. Not many use the bikes as you do, which accurately represent what they would like to do. Better to learn from the mistakes of others than to repeat them yourself. Good one
Thanks you so much for taking the time to make such a thorough insightful video! I'm a new rider and people are very kind to talk with me and answer my questions. However, I always feel bad taking too much of their time, just for information, when I'm not ready to buy. I honestly saw the length of this video and thought I'd skip through it, BUT you have so much first hand experience and years of riding that it made ever minute worth my time to watch it. (And your whimsical personality, is so funny :) I could never get this level of detail just asking "motorcycle guys" my questions and you even went over things I never even considered! I feel like I just hung out with you in your garage and picked your brain for an hour, and now I owe you a six pack of Great Northern! Cheers, from San Diego, CA-

Sir, You hit the nail on the head at 45:08 to 45:45!! As for me I want the most comfortable suspension as possible for long days in the saddle. This means a combination of highway and dirt roads. I have a Beta 498 for the "hard core" trails. You are setting up these bikes really well. If i ever make it to your country I'll be hitting you up for some travel. BTW, I'm a SPOT fan as well and keep mine on my body when off road traveling.
In regards to the pre unifilter that goes on the snorkel. I contact unifilter and sent photos of the filter rubbing through on that plastic guard under the tank. IMO unifilter just use a generic filter off the shelf that happen to fit over the snorkel. Asked them to consider designing a pre filter directly for the T7. Their reply was they would take a look which is code for get lost. What I did was shorten the spring and filter length which now stops the filter contacting the plastic guard. All good so fair.

From experience tail tidy’s are a bling item that people think look great but don’t really function off-road. Every tail tidy we tried just let the mud get all up your back. People say the standard one will break off-road yet we have more miles than anyone off-road and haven’t had a single one fail in anyway. I’ve seen more than one tail tidy with a rubber flap or plastic piece attached to keep the mud off the rider and that looks shit. Just a preference but thats why
This video series is sensational! You mentioned front brakes but didn't get to it. I've found the power inadequate and the lever goes soft really quick needing a bleed every few thousand kms. Swapped to sintered pads for a slight improvement in bite. Considering braided lines or a master cylinder upgrade. Thoughts or experiences?
Hi, never had a probelm with the standard front brakes, run standard pads, fluid and lines. 1 finger braking everyday and work awesome, cant recall anyone having a problem. BTW as a rule sintered pads have less bite
Great video guys, as always with all your videos I really appreciate the honesty from Greg with the reviews on parts and equipment, I do hope to join one of your organised rides one day. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming!
I used the same setup on my Great Caucasus trip. ua-cam.com/video/2QTNAr66Qw4/v-deo.html But as lid pre and main filter. Was just wondering why they released an extra snorkel pre filter when the lid also fits. Greetings from Germany.
Really interesting video, wisdom by experience counts. Nice to see a couple of Canadian products there. It took me a while to get through it, Google translate is no so good Aus to Canajun, eh.
Great video mate! I’m a bit nervous after hearing your comment on Safari tanks having problems as I’m on the preorder for their new 45 l rally tanks. Would you guys consider testing them in the future?

Thank you for the great video! One thing I wondered about the 2,5” rim. You mentioned the full knobbies didn’t work. But does the 2,5” rim with a less knobby tyre give you advantages or might as well get the normal size (rear) rim?

The steering damper works great, hitting a tree root or rock late in the day when you aren’t concentrating can be a bad end to your day. The damper Mitigates high speed steering deflections
The Garmin it's reliable but we have 2 in case of one fails... How long did the zumo XT on battery? M8 appreciate the video, but too much contradiction on the beginning, DMD2 in this state it's not a navigation software, it's just for route navigation , you have others to do that. But nice input anyway.
Hi Mario go back and listen to it. You got it wrong mate. I didn’t talk about the XT battery I talked about the Samsung tablet battery. We don’t run two units in case one fails we run to so we have back up data. Also, my problem with the DMD2 it doesn’t have navigation software, although the new version does.
@@rideadvtoursandworkshop3178 no M8 I know the zumo don't have battery, so I don't see a problem with the Samsung always connected, it's the same. I can understand preferences, if you like the Garmin it's your choice, but the things you mention to choose a Garmin instead of a rugged tablet or rugged phone in my pov, were not accurate, there's allot of potential on some navigation software like Osmand, DMD2 will get there, and you can always use a tablet as a roadbook. In the future you can always install DMD2 on the Garmin Thread series, but only on the 8' model and up. If they are collaborating with the DMD2 dev it's because they saw potential on the app.
Please share the part number for the larger Yamaha factory dirt bike foot pegs that you mention you use on your bikes? Having trouble locating them without it.
Question. Towards the end of the video I noticed that there is significant clearance between your front brake lever and the polisport hand guards. I currently run the Yamaha adjustable levers and barkbusters and find the clearance for my reach to be minimal to the point the lever has rubbed on the barkbuster bracket. Is there any extra clearance in the polisport guards?
Great video and info guys!! What are your insights for replacing/upgrading rims? I recently put a large dent in my front rim on a Tassie trip. I see you can get complete wheel replacements. Do you have insights into new rims/wheels and if some rims are stronger than others? Also would you keep the same dimension rims as stock (this is also something that may be a personal preference I guess)? Thanks, Ben.
Call the Penguin at www.dirtbike.com.au It’s where we got two of ours sets. Good quality, strong and bling Strong or not biggest cause is too low a pressure
Great video (as usual). Straight talking & unbiased feedback. I'm an older rider (64yr) & I plonk around on my T7 much more sedately than you guys, but I love it. I'm looking for a set of soft pannier racks. Yours look to be robust & forward mounted. To get a quote who do I email? Thanks. (ps: is there a video about your racks?) ** Just found the video about fitting your racks & an email address. Cheers **
Hi guys, one question. Your Big silver tool chests with the timber bench top, you've got a few of them. What brand are they, and/or where did you get them from?
Very thorough and insightful review of your T7 fleet and what products you have been using. Have you had to replace fuel pump filters on any of your bikes? Just wondering how tolerant the fuel system is to suspect fuel and dirt due to riding in dusty conditions.
In the last 11 years of running Yamaha’s, be they XT660Zs, WR450Fs, WR250Rs, XT1200’s and now Tenere 700’s we have NEVER replaced a fuel pump, fuel filter or had any fuel problem at all, not a single problem. If we have done 300,000kms in 3 years through COVID imagine how many kms we did in the 8 years before, not a single fuel issue.

We used a K-tech set for ages. They were ok for sure, for the cost a Teknik stage one is better and cheaper. If you don’t have access to Teknik then it would probably be my choice for value
We will do a video on wheel bearings soon. As for tailtidys, well I didnt talk about them but here is my thoughts From experience tail tidy’s are a bling item that people think look great but don’t really function off-road. First of all, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with a lot of parts of the T7! Greatly appreciate the no nonsense and straight to the point insights, especially about the mirrors, tail tidy and suspension. As you said, it’s all about how you ride your bike and not what others can do with it. One question I would have is about the engine longevity, I have done around 45k km (12k km off-road) on my T7 and had absolutely no hick ups while sticking to the normal Yamaha service Intervalls. What mileage do your bikes have and at what point do you think the engine needs some kind of rebuild\overhaul. Bonus question: do you know what the lightest exhaust (end pipe) is for the T7? Thank you again and all the best from Germany 🇩🇪 ✌🏻
Thank you for the great rundown. I noted the timestamps for all of the different topics.

But as lid pre and main filter. Was just wondering why they released an extra snorkel pre filter when the lid also fits. Greetings from Germany.
how is the aurora kit. looks like it all is a bit more forwards.
Work in progress. Truth is its heavier and needs development which they are doing
Really interesting video, wisdom by experience counts. Nice to see a couple of Canadian products there. It took me a while to get through it, Google translate is no so good Aus to Canajun, eh.
Yeah sorry about the yarn cobber, its how we roll
Great video mate! I’m a bit nervous after hearing your comment on Safari tanks having problems as I’m on the preorder for their new 45 l rally tanks. Would you guys consider testing them in the future?
Great review guys, can I ask where you get the Rally race tyres from as I cannot find many stores that stock them,
Wheee are you based?
@@rideadvtoursandworkshop3178 Based in Brisbane. Booked on your Flinders tour in May with a few mates.
Call tyres 4 bikes in Brisbane and ask for Jackson / Hollywood he will take care of what you need. I’ll give him a heads to look after ya

Great review. Have to say though that I fucking love the Camel Enduro Bend, got one as soon as I saw it…
Thanks mate, beauty is in the eye of the beholder my friend, but I think its fucking ugly as a Safari tank on a 690 KTM
Hello, may i ask what exhaust system or slip on is being used on the T7 upload picture? Thanks in advance, kind regards.
Camel high exhaust from Camel ADV products in Canada
Thank you so much for the fast reply and the information. 🙏🏼
Awesome vid.
Tail tidy comments tho?
From experience tail tidy’s are a bling item that people think look great but don’t really function off-road. Every tail tidy we tried just let the mud get all up your back. People say the standard one will break off-road yet we have more miles than anyone off-road and haven’t had a single one fail in anyway.
I’ve seen more than one tail tidy with a rubber flap or plastic piece attached to keep the mud off the rider and that looks shit.
Just a preference but thats why
Awesome thanks
Welcome
Thank you for the great video! One thing I wondered about the 2,5” rim. You mentioned the full knobbies didn’t work. But does the 2,5” rim with a less knobby tyre give you advantages or might as well get the normal size (rear) rim?
Tail tidy , you didn’t mention why or why not , I’d be interested in your thoughts, thanks mate

@@rideadvtoursandworkshop3178 yeah I thought the same about mine on the CRF , keeps the mud off and I don’t think it looks bad tbh
Great info! I wondered about that steering damper, does it really improve the T7? It’s an expensive thing to just try it out…
The steering damper works great, hitting a tree root or rock late in the day when you aren’t concentrating can be a bad end to your day.
The damper Mitigates high speed steering deflections
Just discovered your channel, it's great !
The rear brake lever you use, I missed the name, have a link? I'm in California.

Yes there is
Great Vid Greg and Rooster.
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome detailed vid guys. Question re Camel pipe. Such a cool looking pipe. Do you know if it is road legal? Cheers and keep up the great work.
It’s no more illegal or legal then any other slip on exhaust
Great video and info guys!!
What are your insights for replacing/upgrading rims? I recently put a large dent in my front rim on a Tassie trip. I see you can get complete wheel replacements. Do you have insights into new rims/wheels and if some rims are stronger than others? Also would you keep the same dimension rims as stock (this is also something that may be a personal preference I guess)?
Thanks, Ben.

Great video (as usual). Straight talking & unbiased feedback. I'm an older rider (64yr) & I plonk around on my T7 much more sedately than you guys, but I love it. Hi guys, one question. Your Big silver tool chests with the timber bench top, you've got a few of them. What brand are they, and/or where did you get them from?
I don’t know the name, they came from Bunnings. They are crackers

Are those camel anti bobble rods safe for the headlight and the TFT screen?
I have read that this bobbling has a purpose - not to affect electronics when riding off road.

Can you not retrofit all your old bags with the new style buckles?......
I’d reckon you could, Adventure Moto sell the buckles and straps so yeah
First of all, thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with a lot of parts of the T7!
Greatly appreciate the no nonsense and straight to the point insights, especially about the mirrors, tail tidy and suspension.
As you said, it’s all about how you ride your bike and not what others can do with it.
One question I would have is about the engine longevity, I have done around 45k km (12k km off-road)
on my T7 and had absolutely no hick ups while sticking to the normal Yamaha service Intervalls.
What mileage do your bikes have and at what point do you think the engine needs some kind of rebuild\overhaul.
Bonus question: do you know what the lightest exhaust (end pipe) is for the T7?
Thank you again and all the best from Germany 🇩🇪 ✌🏻
